Motion 3 ... Inspector/Library/Browser Palettes won't open

Yes, I know I'm going backward in time, but version 3 is what I have to work on. And these palettes disappeared and now will not open. I've restarted the computer and relaunched, still no dice.
Is there some key combination that shuts them off? What turns 'em back on?

Umm...
I don't think you stumped the panel, Jeff. You reposted less than an hour since your original post which is hardly enough time for the panel to review your issue. It is a known issue; preference files can become corrupted on any application you use. Solutions have been provided here regarding motion preference file for over a year. Basic troubleshooting of any app involves Removing the preference file, Repairing permissions, Rebooting the computer. Think of it like R&R with an extra R
It would seem as though you have your troubleshooting support agenda backwards. Generally you should search for a solution to your problem first and then ask if you can't find one. It seems as though you asked first and then searched to find your answer.

How can I back up the iPhoto library when iPhoto won't open and I can't simply copy the iPhoto library packet because "some of the data canny be read from or written to"?

Regarding not being able to open iPhoto.  As a test  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Were you able to create a new library?
If so then your current library is damaged and needs to be repaired.
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • I have a new mac book air and somehow iPhoto was installed twice.  Also, a second library was created and it became the default library.  I attempted to switch to the original library but it won't open.  what can I do to revert to the old library?

I have a new mac book air and somehow iPhoto was installed twice.  Also, a second library was created and it became the default library.  I attempted to switch to the original library but it won't open.  what can I do to revert to the old library?

Both iPhotos open to a default library (#2) which has 300+ photos,  I attempted to "switch to library" under the file tab in iPhoto and tried to choose "other library" which had most of my photos.  When I attempt to open it, it doesn't do anything.  I can see it and there are 2 libraries but it won't open.
Have you tried to open your old iPhoto library by double-clicking it directly, instead of using the File menu?  That should work, if you are running iPhoto '11 and the library has been created by that version or an older version.  DO you get an error message, if you select the library directly in the Finder?
I checked and it is the latest version of iPhoto.
Is it iPhoto '11, version 6.0.5? "Latest version" is ambiguous, because it will depend on your system version.
Where is your iPhoto Library stored?

  • My book showed up in the iBook library but it won't open.

My book showed up in the iBook library but it won't open.

Did you buy/download the book from Apple, or did it come from another source ? If it's Apple ibook then try closing the iBooks app completely and see if the book works after you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e.not with the iBooks app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the iBooks app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
You could also try deleting the book and re-downloading it

  • Invalid Library File - ITunes won't open - AT ALL!!!

hi, need some help! ITunes won't open, at all. Have followed Apple's advice to recreate library (by locating library.xml and moving it to the desktop, while trashing the ITunes library.itl file)ITunes still doesn't open. Connecting Ipod to laptop does nothing either! Any advice would be great!

    Hey try this out:
Turn Norton 2005's Personal Firewall OFF, (turn it OFF Permanently until your ready to turn it back on) then click CONFIGURE.
Under the PROGRAMS tab remove any reference to Apple iTunes or iTunes or iTunes Helper Module or anything related. and reboot.
After coming back go back to Norton 2005's Personal Firewall, click CONFIGURE. Under the PROGRAMS tab click ADD at the bottom, a SELECT A PROGRAM
window will pop up. Add the following files one at a time, iTunes.exe, iTunesHelper.exe, QuickTimePlayer.exe, qttask.exe, QTInfo.exe. The last 3 are found
in your Quicktime folder where that is in your system. Click OK. Turn Norton 2005's Personal Firewall ON, and try starting iTunes again.
This worked for me. It seems the Quicktime files were never automatically entered into my Norton 2005's Personal Firewall allowable programs listing. Adding them
manually should help. I also noticed that from my previous version of iTunes the program listed in the Firewall was named Apple iTunes and not iTunes after I upgraded to 6.
Let me know if this works out.

  • When I try to open firefox nothing happens, the browser window won't open. How do I fix this?

My firefox browser won't open. It looks like it's working, but then it just stops.

Hi prubright, '''try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if you can start firefox with that way. • Changed library name - FCPX won't open?

    Ouch.
I inadvertently changed the Library name of an FCP X file in the Finder Window ... and now FCP X won't open.  I immediately changed it back to the original name, and FCP X still won't open.  The FCP X logo comes up, and then the app seems to freeze and not open.
    Sound familiar?
There must be a work around or a fix, right?
    All ears,
    Ben

    HI Al,
Interesting.  And that's why I did the change IN the Finder Window.  I couldn't click the Library open IN the app.  It was as if frozen.  I tried a dozen times to click, or to hit enter when highlighted.  So I thought it wasn't something that could be done.
In fact, now that you've encouraged me that such a thing is possible I'm going to try again.
In the meanwhile I had a few crashes, re-installed FCPX, muddled around a bit.  It seems to be working now.  Could have had something to do with FCPX 10.1.1 working with an earlier project done in FXPX 10.0 ... and when I opened FCPX (I think I opened it to set up another project) there was no automatic request to update the original project.  Maybe something weird happened there and caused some kind of corruption.  But in the end I did get the original project updated ... and am now learning how to organize in this little beastie.
I did learn something interesting about relinking media though.  You can't JUST relink clips to their original media files in FCPX 10.1 ... because when you go to locate your original movie ... it's imbedded in the Library (all those hidden folders), and there is no way to access the library that way.  Someone over at Creative Cow created a workaround, quite brilliant I think.  It works anyhow.  In the Finder Window you 'open package contents', work your way to the folder that contains the unlinked media files, then drag that folder to the margin on the left of Finder Window (where you can drag folders you work on regularly).  THEN you can do a relink and work your way to the folder you need that way.  Works fine.
I'm going to try renaming my Library now.  Wish me luck.  So useful to be able to do this.
    Thank you kindly Al,
    Ben

  • Browser file won't open

I'm trying to open a file of media clips & sequences to the browser. They're in Documents>Capture Scratch>P2 folder. When I click on P2 folder it opens the list in the right column. But it won't open the whole list in the brower where I need them. It normally opens right up. Any thoughts? Thanks!
    G5   Mac OS X (10.0.x)

Basically I want to reopen a tab in the Browser. The tab contains video clips & sequences.
To get multiple tabs in the Browser, means that you need to have multiple projects open. You need to open the project that has that P2 footage organized in it.

  • It shows connected to the internet but when I browse it won't open a page.

Hi, can someone help me. My mac shows that i'm connected to the internet server but when i open a page in the internet browser it says that it is not connected. It doesn't show a page. I used different browsers but still it won't work. IP address is fine. My internet connection is fine. But i think it has to do with the settings. I tried to use my HP laptop and it worked well. But my mac won't work. Any suggestions? thanks!

Even though the iPod shows as been connected, it might not have actually received a valid IP address via DHCP from your Wi-Fi access point or router.  Head to Settings -> Wi-Fi and tap the > next to the network you are connected. If 169.xxx.xxx.xxx is listed for an IP Address, then your iPod did not receive a valid IP address.  To correct this you can reboot your router by unplugging it from power for about 30 seconds.
It wouldn't hurt to also reset your iPod.  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • Browser window won't open

I use google chrome as my main browser. I was using it earlier today but now chrome the window will not open. The bar at the very top of my screen shows that chrome is open but the window is nowhere to be seen. A youtube bookmark opens, I know because I can hear it. So it seems that the window is off screen or something. I've tried playing with the display settings and my software is up to date. I had a similar problem with safari and could not re-install so I started using chrome. I'm now using firefox which I had previously installed.

  • Browser options won't open

Just got my playbook, let the updates happen and then I opened the browser, I clicked on the options button looking to set a homepage but nothing happens. It highlights so the button works but the is nothing happening. I read where someone had the issue but received an update and the problem was solved but I have yet to find an update for the browser. Anyone know of a solution or have a similar issue?
    THanks
    John
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well I finally called playbook support at 1-877-644-8405, they walked me thru a few tests and then finally decided we needed to re-install the software from the beginning. So we wiped the tablet aand reinstalled from scratch. Took about 20 minutes and it was all done and with the updates done the browser now was able to boot normally and the options functions were back.
They couldn't say why this happend just that it seemed to have happened on the first software and sustem boot up.
    Issue solved!

  • When I close the browser, firefox won't open again. I get the message "Firefox is still running, restart your computer." How do I fix this?

When I close the Firefox browser by clicking on the X in the upper right-hand corner of the screen, the window closes. But when I want to open Firefox again, I cannot. Instead, I get a message, "Firefox is still running. Restart your computer." This happens a few times a week and is very disconcerting. How do I fix this problem?

I will only close the browser by using your suggestion, File > Exit, from today on, and see what happens. Thank you for your expedient reply.

  • I migrated my iphoto library yesterday - now won't open.

I migrated my large (almost 400gb) iPhotos library to Photos yesterday and it seemed to work.  I could scroll through photos, edit, see the whole libray, etc.  Now Photos is saying it can't open the Photos Library.photoslibrary (System Photo Library).  It tried to repair but said to choose another library.  What should I do?  The iPhoto Library is still listed there.  Should I click on that and let it try again?

Great, that you got it working!
The iPhoto library was evidently too large to migrate and everything got stuck trying to migrate the large library.
The size of the library should not matter. However, the free storage on your Mac does. If you are running out of storage because the library is so large, then the migration might not succeed.
If you have less than 10GB of storage, don't try anything at all, that might need additional storage. I'd try to keep at leat 20GB of storage free at all times.

  • The "Data Browser" window won't open in CS5

    Hello,
Choosing View->Data Browser from ExtendScript Toolkit CS5 doesn't make the window or panel visible. All of the others work except in my mind the most useful one. It works fine in the CS4 version on the same computer. I'm running Windows Vista 64 with latest updates to both the OS and to the CS5 Master Collection.
Please let me know if what I can do to get it to show up.
    Thanks,
    Yasin Linder

Sort of. As part of the next update we'll make Muse ignore the 125% scale setting. This will make it easier for you to use that setting with all your other applications, but even when your Display is set to scale 125% the Muse UI will be presented at 100%. Unfortunately the current transition architecture of Muse (part native 64-bit app and part Adobe AIR app internally) combined with how Windows 8 and 8.1 achieve 125% scaling means it will be quite some time before Muse will be able to correctly support 125% Display scaling. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Sometimes simply restarting your iTunes, the computer and the iPad is all that it takes to correct an issue like this so try that. Quit iTunes, reboot your computer, and restart the iPad. Then try the sync again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
