Motion 5 is always recording 3D Keyframes?

Hello,
    I am new to Motion 5, after I create a 3D transpose, when I try to reposition a layer , it is always recording a Keyframe ? The correct layer is selected, the record button is not turned on, It seems to me that when the Select tool is selected this should by-pass the 3D key framing. When the Adjust 3D Transform is selected it does not seem to make a difference.
    First I hope I am making some sense, I'll to explain with an example.
    Lets say I create a circle, in the center of the canvas, I create a camera layer pull back on the Z space, record a keyframe then advance a 25 frames and bring the circle in. ok no problem. I press play and the play back is what I was expecting, the circle comes into the frame and stops in the middle.
    No I realize, I want place the circle in the lower third of the screen, this were the problems start. If I back all the way out and reposition the circle it records a key frame and creates unwanted movements. How can I turn this off? Did I perhaps change the default settings ? I don't see anything that would cause this.
    Any Ideas would be appreciated.

You can use Groups to create levels of 3D "universe".  All coordinates are "Local" to the group in which they exist. Group coordinate systems can be oriented anywhere. Any keyframes you created for an object (or a group) can be repositioned to a different area of space by selecting the item and creating a new Group (Command-Shift-G). Then move (or animate!) the group to a different location (not the shape itself!). The animations of the objects inside the group will be the same as they were **relative** to the coordinate system inside that group.
Basic motion path of Rectangle shape:
The same motion path but rotated by parent group:
The shape's path is exactly the same in both screenshots. In the second shot, the shape's coordinate system (the group it's in) has been reoriented in space. Its behavior/animation will be exactly the same, it's just your view of it has been altered.

  • Motion crashing each time I modify keyframes in editor

    Every time I try to modify one of the parameters of keyframing in Motion's editor, it crashes and I need to reboot. Everything else seems to function normally, with this only specific exception.
    I was wondering if anyone was experiencing the same or had some fix. I'm on 2 Gig RAM.
    Thank you!

    So - one day on the Pro Video support line, two trips to the Apple Store and one replacement machine later, I have an answer that may help if you have an ATI graphics card.
    There seems to be an issue between Motion and ATI video cards when it comes to the Keyframe Editor. I have the ATI Radeon X1900 card, but this Keyframe Editor problem was replicable in a Macbook Pro with an ATI card as well. We tested it across several machines in the store and it was just the ones with ATI in the video slot that had this problem.
    There is not a solution for this at this time, but there is a fairly simple workaround rule:
    Always start keyframing on any object with the Record button - you will then be able to use the Keyframe Editor to modify the keyframes of that object. You can even add keyframes to the object and modify those - however, if you do this and then start to modify another object that hasn't been started off with keyframes from the Record button, you will have the same hard freeze issue. Seemingly, it is as simple as that.
    I have Motion working fine on my machine and have yet to have the problem repeat if I follow this rule.
    I have not, however, tried this in modifying behaviors or particles with keyframes, but I suspect if you hit Record and modify the values in the Inspector, you should get the same result.
    Keep posting any problems that persist, as Apple is being made aware of the issue by the techs at the SF store. Gotta say they were pretty persistent in getting to the bottom of this and finding a workaround, especially Michael in the Business unit - thanks to all!

  • Where is the record/auto keyframe button in after effects cc?

    I've traditionally used affter effects cs5/6, however after using CC I can't find the button.
    Anyone else have this problem or can tell me where it is? Thanks!

    Hello Todd,
    I have to disagree, using AE everyday for the past 6 years to earn my income in a 30 year career, I have workflows that use that feature. Or perhaps I am just a disgruntled veteran.
    The auto record keyframe feature is one of many that has uses that non-professional users may not see the value of. Since there is a vast array of projects, custom elements, client request, creative troubleshooting and workflows, one may be inclined to use things that others may never use. I was asked the other day on why would I use "content aware" in Photoshop since there was no practical purpose for it. I about fell out of my chair. Maybe I need an element to dance around quickly to specific marks on the screen, not random, yet frenetic. to do this the most quickly, I may turn on auto keyframe and just navigate around my timing marks, position the element and move on to the next. Granted, not used often, but it has its uses... Just saying. As a professional, if I forget to turn it off, then that is my fault and I should know better and have ways to circumvent such issues. I found this thread today looking for this button as well.

  • Always record number is showing as 0/1 in the custom form

    Hi All,
    I have created a custom form(multi record) and its working fine in Oracle 11.5.8 with data base oracle 8i.
    After that we have update database to Oracle 9i.
    After updation onwards all the records in the form are showing as 0/1. That is current record numbers are not changing and always displaying as 0/1.
    Can any one help me where is the problem.
    Thanks,
    Nav.

    Need more information. When you do a query using SQL Plus what data is returned? What data are you expecting? What do you mean by 0/1? Do you mean a record has a value of zero or one, or do you mean a string '0/1'? Have you done a test creating a new form to see what data is returned when querying those records?

  • Move motion tween and custom ease property keyframe at the same time???

    Hello,
    I'm making adjusments to my animation, by "ctl" clicking the motion tween diamond keyframe in the timeline, and moving it.  It works great, except I have a custom ease property set up that has keyframes that correspond to the animation.  When I move a keyframe, they all update and move except for the custom ease keyframes in the motion editor.  Is there a way to do this??  Set it up so that the custom ease keyframes are locked with the other keyframes??
    Any help would be greatly appreciated..
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
    You should be able to control your RS-232 port and DAQ card independently. If you are doing a continuous buffered analog acquisition, then your board should be acquiring analog data continuously regardless of what commands are being sent out on the RS-232 port.
    I imagine that this is a software timing issue. I would recommend that in your code that you configure and start your analog acquisition before you even start the stage's movement. After you have determined that you are acquiring data, you should send commands to stage to begin its movement. After all of the stages movements are complete, you will want to stop and clear your analog input measurement. This will ensure that you will acquire all
    of the data for all of the movements of the stage.

  • .PNG files into Motion 3 are always corrupt. (With sample)

    It seems to be hit and miss when it comes to importing .png with full transparency into motion 3. They look corrupt and almost reversed. Does anybody know what this could be? I have included a screen shot to show you how they look.
    Export >
    Result >

    Howdy,
    I just tried with a few alpha-using PNGs from PS CS4 and I see what's happening. It looks like Motion is guessing that transparent PNGs from PS have inverted alpha, which jibes with your screenshot. In Motion, try selecting one of your PNGs, hit Shift+F to shortcut to the source media's settings in the Media tab of the Inspector, then uncheck the 'Invert Alpha' checkbox.
    Not sure why this happens with PNGs from Photoshop. It doesn't affect PSD files or PNGs from other apps that I've tried.

  • Pasting keyframes in Motion 3 causes it unexpectedly quit.

    I've only just begun using Motion, sadly, so I am still fairly unfamiliar with it. However, whenever I select a key frame, copy it, then try to paste it in the Keyframe Editor window, Motion will unexpectedly quit. Since I am working with Motion 3, I assumed there may have been some threads about this, I just can't seem to find them. Can anyone help?

    hi,
    up and down arrows? really I've not seen that interesting. To record a keyframe you can do a number of things. One thing is to turn on the big red record button, move the playhead to where you want it in the timeline, and then move the object to where you want it. Motion automatically records the keyframes for you. You can even do this as its playing to record it in real time if you like. More more control you can also add keyframes by hand from the inspector window. Some time with the manual will help with this, it explains it pretty well

  • Option Missing from "Record Keyframes" Box.

    I'm working through the Motion 5 tutorials.(Lesson 4) It tells me to "Select 'Record keyframes on animated parameters only' and click OK." That is not an option in my Record Keyframes box. I've gone back and re-worked all the steps multiple times- no luck. Suggestions? Thanks.

    That was removed on the Motion 5.0.2 update since keyframes now only get recorded automatically on parameters that have been keyframed by default.

  • Possible to record Animated/Position Keyframes with tablet?

    I have Motion 5 and I also use a Wacom Intuos tablet. I know you can have Motion 5 record drawing manually over time, but can you use it to directly record possition keyframes, such as what the Behavior "Analyze Motion" does? I want to create that same kind of movement for a particle emmitter to be attached to but use freehand rather than follow some point in a view. Hope I am explainaing this right.
    Any ideas or suggestion on how to do this if it in fact can be done?
    Thanks.

    Sure just turn on recording, press play, and move the layer you want to move. Your movements will be recorded as the project plays.

  • Flash CS4 - motion paths

    Hi,
    Im confounded to why this is happening and when it looks so much like a program error, it is sold on the shelves as a final product.
    My frustration at CS4 is that the new motion paths are already on the object, identified by a dotted line which you can edit to change the direction of the motion. When I want an object to go from A to B and then on to C, trying to select the object and position it to B is impossible. I always seem to select a bezier point. After attempting to mvoe it to B and then C, zooming in to take a close look at the path its a mess, overlapping in many points and jsut a MESS.
    Am i doing something wrong?
    To get round the problem I've copied the object in it's location and made another layer and continued the object motion on to B or C.
    I'm animating a mouse curser over my visuals and I've now got multiple layers of the cursor object because of this pathing issue.
    Any advice would be gratefully received.
    thanking you

    The above advice is good. It sounds like you have created some kind of motion path, and you are wanting to further edit it. There are many ways to edit, and some will work out better than others. Editing a motion path differs greatly depending on what kind of path you have.
    1) If you started with a path where you have pasted, say, a stroke as your path (you drew something with the pencil or pen, and pasted it onto your tween), you will be dealing with a lot of auto-generated keyframes -- especially if you used a pencil line instead of a pen line. If you drag your object around, where those keyframes are will affect the resulting path. What to do: Try to modify the path using the Pen tools, or start with a pen drawn path. This way you have fewer keyframes to accomodate for. If you have a pencil-drawn path, try removing keyframes and then adjust the path using beziers. Alternatively, paste the motion path as a raw path on a new layer, adjust it by bending, and then repaste it onto the tween.
    When you ask Flash to auto-keyframe a pasted path, there's really no way around this. Flash has to create keyframes for you, and isn't able to know how you may want to further edit it. So the above ways are necessary, and unfortunately it's a bit of work whatever way you go.
    2) You may have a path that you  have curved, but you want a linear path "down the road" (later on the tween). In this case, the motion tween is inserting curve property keyframes, because you have curved the path. To make the line straight, you need to convert the points to linear points. You can do this on the path or in the motion editor using the Convert Anchor point tool. Or, you can go in the motion editor, right-click the keyframes and choose "Corner point" or Linear Left/right as needed.
    3) You applied an ease and you're dragging the instance on the Stage. This can be tricky. What you've asked Flash to do when applying an ease is for motion math to take over an animate the position of the instance in relation to values (the original path). The instance is controlled by the ease, and Flash accomodates each time you move it. Oftentimes you can't really tell what's going to happen, especially on the Stage (Flash is doing what's mathematically correct and necessary, but it might not be what you actually want!). In this case you probably want to turn off the ease, create your motion path, and then re-enable the ease and see how that affects the path. Adjusting your work in the motion editor might be easier, as you can see the dotted eased values in the graph, which tell you what's actually going to happen to the motion (the "real" value post-ease).
    4) You used the transform panel or Free transform tool on the motion path, which gave wacky results and then you're moving the instance and things are getting worse. This is one area where motion paths can have less desirable results, as it's using a traditional tool not really designed for the new feature on a new feature. My recommendation is to avoid the transform panel, and use the Free Transform tool instead. In a nutshell, the Transform panel traditionally deals with shapes, and the motion path is not a traditional shape - so there are a lot of calculations swapping back and forth behind the scenes to try and give you what you want. Things can get wacky here, so if you already have something very complex (such as a pasted path with tons of keyframes), your transformations may not be what you actually wanted. Free Transform is better, or even better, manually adjust the beziers.  Another alternative is to, again, copy the motion path as a static raw path, transform it and make your adjustments, and repaste it onto your tween.
    Let me know if you need additional help, or are running into something else entirely.
    Thanks,
    Jen.

  • Why won't the WVC80N write a motion-sensed video file?

    I'm using a WVC80N camera and a WRT1900AC Wireless Router.  My HP MediaSmart server, WHS 2003, is connected to the router via cable.  I can have the camera ALWAYS RECORD to the server because the setup for that asks directly where to put the file.  However, I want the camera to use motion sensing but that only goes to an FTP server.  I input the local IP of my HP server and a port I have cleared on the router, the computer and the server firewalls.  NO file is written even though the camera log says motion was detected as shown below:
    (07/16/2014 19:37:20 FTP: Error during the connection or timeout.
    07/16/2014 19:37:15 Alert: Detected motion.).
    The first line is absolutely NO use:  What "Error"?  Yes, the user ID and password for the server are entered (several times just to make sure).
    I have done this on BOTH the direct camera input and the camera utility program.  By the way, why does the camera utility program constantly CHANGE the frequency to Once per Day EVERY time the utility is opened?  Doesn't / Can't it save Every Day to a file?  I have also RESET the camera and reinstalled the camera using the CD installation program so don't bother suggesting I do that AGAIN!  I can view the video from this computer using the camera utility or from my cellphone or iPad/iPod using any of several applications and the DNS tracker.  So I know the camer is working, I just can't get the video file stored onto my server.  Do I need to install something like FileZilla on the server box to make it a REAL ftp?
    I would like for this to work so any help would be appreciated.
       Turner

    Thank you for the suggesstion.  I had the system working with an AC1900 router but had to replace the AC1900 with the WRT1900AC because the AC1900 kept getting hot and shutting off the wireless network.  I would think if it would work with one router, it should work with another.  I may put the AC1900 back on and check settings to see what I didn't get right.  I need to reset the AC1900 to remove my userid and password(s) anyway.
    I have a source for checking your suggestion on WAN enabling the MediaSmart server.  I can check if that is possible.
    Why isn't motion-sensed recording available like always-recording?  I don't understand why the two have to be so different.
    Thanks again,

  • Record and suddently does not

    Hi,
    i manage to get my program to record. for example few days again when i play an mp3 windows media player, my program records the music with my microphone. it is fine by me. But BUT now all of the sudden my program does not record my music from windows media player or anything other play in fact. it only records the microphone!!
    How can i make sure that my program always record the mp3, coz it is very important for the application i'm doing.
    This is the code i'm using
    private void captureAudio(){
    try{
    AudioFormat recordingFormat = getAudioFormat();
    targetDataLine=     null;
    targetDataLine = (TargetDataLine) AudioSystem.getTargetDataLine(recordingFormat);
    targetDataLine.open(recordingFormat);
    targetDataLine.start();
    Thread captureThread = new CaptureThread();
    captureThread.start();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println("ERA0"+e);
    System.exit(0);
    }//end catch
    }//end captureAudio method

    work with the iphone 5?
    Yes.
    The motion   is turned on in and it does not record steps.
    The iPhone 5 does not have the M7 Motion Sensor co-processor. It will not record steps.
    The iPhone 5S has a motion co-processor as do the iPhone 6 & 6 Plus.

  • Relative/absolute keyframes when trimming

    Hi,
    I'm using some motion templates for titles in FCPX. Sometimes I just want to shorten the title in the timeline. By doing that the animation in the motion/titles template speed up. It does not seem to matter whether I use the trim or the blade tool.
    Is there a way to keep absolute keyframes rather than relative one ?
    Is there a setting in FCPX or Motion 5 to chose how the keyframes behave when the clip is being trimmed?
    Thanks for you feedback.
    /Max

    To keep keyframes "absolute" for FCPX templates, you need to add a project marker, either Build In, Build Out (or both); or Project Loop End.
    To add one of these markers: In Motion, click on the Layers List anywhere NOT on an object (deselect all layers). Move the playhead to the point in the project you want the animation to end and type 'M' to add the marker and command-option-m to pop up the dialog to set the type. (The "Optional" versions will provide a checkbox in FCPX that will allow the user to turn on or off the marker behavior.)
    Build In will run the animation from the beginning to the marker and then "hold" if the clip has been lengthened or be truncated if shortened. (Build In markers are typically *past* the last keyframe)
    Build Out will run the animation from the marker to the end of the project, "holding" at the beginning if the clip is lengthened and truncating (from the front end) if shortened. (Build Out is typically just before the first keyframe - or the beginning of the project)
    You can use Build In and Build Out together, the space (or time) in between the two markers will be "expandable" or expendible (on resizing the clip).
    Project Loop End will run the animation, truncating if shortened and looping if lengthened. (Project Loop should always be the best "looping point" in a project -- everything past this marker is **ignored** in FCPX, which is a rather important distinction. Project Loop will not have a specific effect while playing the project in Motion)
