Motion 5 is giving me a white outline around my luma matte.

Hello,
I am having a small issue where my motion template is giving me a small white line around the edge of my luma matte.
This project was created in Motion 4 and it looked fine and then I updated it to Motion 5 and now I get the white outline.  The settings are both the same.
Here are the two images showing my issue, first is Motion 4 and then Motion 5:
Here are the setting in Motion 5, they match motion 4 for the matte:
I double checked both settings on Motion 4 and 5 and they match.  I have no clue on what is going on.
Let me know if anyone has any suggestions.
If anyone wants to see the full animation you may find it here:

Thank you and have a wonderful day!

I figured out the problem.  I had created 2 different mattes.  The one on top shows a luma matte of the break and the one under neath shows the luma matte of the break in reverse and the screen matte.  So what I did is redo the matte under the top one with just the screen matte and no break.
It seems if you have two mattes that are top of each other and reveresed you get a white like of the split line.
I hope this expains the issue .
This is the top most matte which is correct:
This is the second matte I had, which is wrong as it will cause the white split:
This is the second matte that does work.  I only need the break matte from the top matte, this second proper matte only mattes out the screen with no break and no white outline.
I hope that makes sence.  It took me a while to figure it out.
Have a great day!

How can I print a booklet without a white outline around the border? I'd like the front page to be covered entirely.

You either need a borderless printer, or you have to print on oversize paper and trim off the bleed.

• White outline around images in pdf

Ok I've searched google for help and have not found any tips. I'm using CS4. I'm creating a document in indesign. I've placed some psd files into the document. In photoshop they are an object with a transparent background.
Now they look fine when printing and when viewing in indesign. But when i output as a ps from indesign, then take it into distiller it creates a pdf with a white outline around the image. Why is this happening? See attachement. Outline is on the bottom, it's a really thin line.
I do file print, select adobe pdf 8.0 then i pick the postscript option, then hit print to save the pdf. I've tried changing from CMYK to leave unchanged for color options. Please help!!!

Try searching for the term stitching. That should give you plenty.
In short, what you're seeing is the result of your archaic workflow causing the transparency to be flattened. The preferred and recommended method for PDF creation is through direct export, maintaining all transparency in the document.

• I'm shooting great white screen but when I key out the white background, I have a very thin white outline around my person that I don't know how to soften without loosing some facial opacity. Any suggestions?

Hi,
I'm shooting white screen and FINALLY have my lighting, white balance, exposure and focus making a great looking, crispy clip! But when I key out the white background in a short segment, I'm left with a very thin, white outline around my person that I don't know how to soften, without loosing facial opacity. I only tried using the 'Edges' tool. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

The laptop's too far away from the router to be connected by ethernet. It's all wifi.
No separate server app on the laptop, it's all samba
The files are on a windows laptop and a hard drive hooked up to the windows laptop. The windows share server is pants, so I'd need some sort of third party server running. Maybe you weren't suggesting to use Samba to connect to the windows share though?
I'm glad that you've all understood my ramblings and taken and interest, thanks The way I see it, I can't be the only netbook user these days looking for this kind of convenience, and I certainly won't be once chrome and moblin hit the market.

I have Adobe AE CS6

Either film your talent on a chroma screen and key them out, or it's time to learn about rotoscoping.

• When I tilt images and text, some people see the white outline around them.

Here is my site
http://web.mac.com/chawayos/portfolio/menu.html
everything on this page is tilted by using the yellow ruler on inspector button
It seems ok with me. But some people that use PC also see the white outline and a red cross around the spot that has been tilted like this (Wanna show you all but cant find how to post pics here)
I guess that's because I tilt them and the white outline is like a guide to show 90 degree before tilted.
Please open my site and let me know what you see.
And if you know how to remove it, let me know pleaseeee
Thanks,

• Thin white outline around garbage matte

Hi All,
I have a problem with a garbage matte rendering with a thin white line around it.  Basically I've got 2 tracks of video.  The bottom track is green screen footage, but its not a very clean key and some of the center of the image is being keyed away. So I put a copy of the footage on track 2 and used an 8 point garbage matte to keep part of the image intact.  The garbage matte is keyframed throughout the clip.  For whatever reason the matte has a thin white line around it when the sequence is exported. I'm attaching a stillframe to illustrate the problem.  Anyone know why this is occuring?
Thanks,
Chris

I see no thin white line in that still image. Where am I supposed to be looking?
Wait, okay, you could have been morespecific what to look for or that we really needed to boost the magnification.
ONly visible when exported? Not visible in the timeline at the serquence settings?
As suggested, a feather will blend the two layers a bit better but you might end up with a feathered thin white line, too.
More specifics, what's the source footage format? What the sequence setting? What's the export format?

• White Outline Around Placed Transparent .PNG

I have put together an ad for my small company but am having a problem after printing to a high-res pdf with there being a thin white border where the edge of the actual file (its a square) is.  This placed file is a transparent PSD file.
Can anyone suggest what might be causing this problem and how I can eliminate it?
Many thanks,
Andy

3 things,
What version of Illustrator are you using on what OS? ALWAYS tell us the version you are using. We cannot help you if we don’t know what version you have.
Your subject line says the image is a PNG but the text of your post says it’s a PSD. Which is it?
Post a screen shot. A picture of your problem is worth a thousand words.

• Mysterious white outline appearing around smart object

Hi. Actually not sure if this is an Illustrator issue or Photoshop.
In a psd file I have a Smart Object created in Illustrator. It is just some basic shapes that I merged together into one shape with a fill color (#FF28FF), no stroke.
Although there is no stroke, when looking at the Smart Object in Photoshop, there seems to be a very thin white outline around the shape. I've double checked again and can't find any reason for this white outline to exist. I'd like to stress that this white outline is very subtle, yet definitely visible.
I've uploaded a sample of what I'm talking about here:

It's driving me crazy. Can someone please explain to me how to get rid of it, or what is causing this?
Thanks!

Thanks for your reply Mike. My monitor is pretty new. I got it only about two months ago. It's a Dell u2311h. I don't have the hardware to properly calibrate it, so I've been using settings recommended by people on forums (with the same model and revision) who DO have such equipment. I know this not ideal at all and that different units vary from one another inspite of being same make and model.... but this is the best I can do right now.
Out of curiousity, assuming that you are correct, I went into my monitor settings and played around with the rgb. The white outline that I'm seeing did seem to vanish when bringing the Green way down, but the colors were completely wacked at that point.
I did try catching the info with the eye-dropper and it did not detect any white. So I guess it is a calibration issue. If you have any suggestions for solving this issue without calibration hardware, I'd be happy to hear them.
Thanks!

• Photoshop CS5 - Pictures have unwanted white outline

Hi guys...
Once I have removed the background from around a picture and save as a .psd it looks perfect.  only picture and transparent background - even if I slide a black background behind it all, there is no white outline - just as I want it.  Then I delete the background color only leaving the picure and transparent background - I export to a .png from the .psd.
When I re-open the .png and slide a black background color layer behind the picture, I see a tiny white outline around the picture.
Do I have an issue with my erase command or my export to .png-8?  Can you advise?  THANK YOU !

Hi there...   Thanks for a response.  Well - that worked.  and I will move forward with that - but I do not understand why.  If it was splotchy or intermittent - I could see, but why would it produce a complete white boundary.  Very happy to be able to continue my work though!    I am just learning and the whole pixel resolution thing I am reading on now.  I sure do appreciate..  Take care!

• WEB png white outline

hi, whenever i saved a pic with transparent background to web
png file theres always a white outline around the pic. And i dont
want to always use the eraser tool everytime i save a pic as web.
is there any easier way to remove the white outline like changing
the settings?

• How do I remove white outline on clipping paths imported into Flash?

I have been trying to import clipping paths into Flash, but the images look fine, except for the white outline around the imported clipping paths. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I could do to remove this, or what I am doing wrong? The clipping path looks fine when I drop it on the same color background in Illustrator. I'm using CS2 and Flash 8. Thanks.

Check to see if a stroke being added to the vector when you bring it into Flash? If so, just delete the stroke.

• Unattractive white outline on fade out after 24 fps convert via Nattress

Hi all,
I converted a DV SD to 24 fps but via Nattress film effects and on certain fade outs there is an unattractive white outline around all the current whites on the frame. I tried 30 fps and got the same results. These fade outs are running at 70% speed. Is that a factor?
Thanks in advance,
Pete K

Pete. Could you send me a small clip of footage in a timeline, with the 70% slowdown and fade so that I can see exactly how you're creating the edit, and then I'll figure out a solution for you.

• Thin Outline Around Pohoshop Text

If I create text in Photoshop CS2 with a bevel and emboss, or some other looks, I get a thin white outline around the text when viewed inside Motion 2. I've tried importing the PSD file in numerous ways, I tried rasterizing the layer inside Photoshop but it stays the same. I rendered the movie to see if it would still be there - it is.
Here are some sample photos:

Thank You

You have a problem with alpha type.
Right click on your layer with text in Motion -> Reveal Source Media.
The Media tab should appear in Inspector. Change Alpha Type at the top of the list of parameters to Premultiplied-White.
That's all.

• How do I add an outline around an image in Elements 10

I have an image that I created via Elements 10... The main body of the image is black and I am wanting to add a white outline around the image so I can place the image on a black background... Can someone advise how to add an outline including colorizing the outline around the image... Thanks

Depending on what you want, you may need to add some canvas to give the border a place to be (Image>Resize>Canvas Size) but you can just press Ctrl+A/Cmd+A to select all, then go to Edit>Stroke (outline) selection, where you can choose the parameters of the border stroke. You can't choose Outside for the location, though, since that would put it off the canvas entirely where it wouldn't be visible.
