Motion 5 title: no audio in FCPX
Hi
I finished a Title in Motion 5, with audio. Everything works smoothly, including audio.
However, when I save it and open it in FCPX the audio won't play. In the FCPX Inspector there's no audio tab.
If I export the project as a movie, then the audio comes back and plays regularly.
Any idea why the Motion 5 Title has no audio in FCPX?

I'm not sure what Apple's rationale is, but having considered the possible variations that can arise, I can see why it's done this way.
In FCPX, there's no guarantee that the effect will be exactly as it is created in Motion. And if used as an Effect, it could be any length of clip it's applied to without consideration. How do you synch the audio, especially if it is not aligned with the starting frame of the project. Time-scaling? Exact frame count offset? And Apple hasn't built in a way to get in and adjust any audio that might have been applied to the project (but it would be nice if there was something akin to an "audio dropzone"...)

Motion 5 Title wont open in FCPX
Hi
I have created a title in FCPX. When i go to open it up in FCPX it is a blue screen and FCPX crashes - everytime.
I did delete the title background in Motion for the title. Will that make a difference?
I am using Motion 5.0.5 (I think - it is the latest version) and FCPX 10.0.1 on a Macbook Pro 2011 model.
ANy help is greatly appreciated.

There were some fundamental changes introduced in FCPX 10.0.3/Motion 5.0.2 (Onscreen control stuff) and again in 10.0.6/5.0.5 (drop zone stuff).
Newer versions of Motion 5 will create incompatible effects for older versions of Final Cut. (It would be helpful if Apple synchronized the subversion numbers of the two apps.)
In most cases, you do not want to delete the Title Background in Motion when developing a title (or the Effect Source for effects, or the Transition A/B layers for transitions) as these "entities" represent the Storyline the user sees in FCPX. If you need to perform "special effects" on the Storyline content for the effect/title/transition, then you can do what you have to do to create the changes you want to appear in Final Cut. In other words, whatever you do to the Title Background inside your Motion project is exactly what will happen to the content positioned "below the title" in FCPX. -
How to keep Motion created titles looking sharp on final DVD?
Hello again... I'm having trouble keeping my motion created titles looking sharp on the final DVDSP project. Im exporting a title sequence out of motion into fcp and then exporting the full project via compressor for burn in DVDSP. I'm familiar with the usual temporary quality loss of titles generated with FCP or Livetype while viewing them within the FCP, Compressor, or DVDSP preview, and understand that once they are compressed and viewed on the TV they look great, but for some reason i can't get my motion created titles to do the same.
Out of Motion- i'm using the preset QT settings on the highest quality. Should i use a different setting out of Motion, perhaps an uncompressed QT or via compressor?Thanks- i'm trying that now. And by the way.... sorry about the misunderstanding. I am exporting out of motion onto my desktop, and then importing the project using FCP.

hi everyone,
i cant import any audio into motion 4.
when i click on a audiofile in the browser it plays, but when i click import or drag it into canvas: nothing.
the audio editor in the timeline only shows an empty audiofile.
i removed and re installed quicktime and motion but nothing changed.

Motion 4.0.3 Audio track crashes
I'm animating to a narration track, and therefore have to split/move the audio every now and again. If I touch the audio track Motion crashes.
I've browsed the Motion posts, and saw many posts over the last four years describing a similar problem, but didn't find a solution. Is Motion persnickety about the audio file type? I imported my audio as .mov from a FCP export (not self contained.)
Below is an excerpt from my latest crash log -- only the crashed thread. It looks like Oz is involved. I saw in posts from 2006 that the Ozone plug-in was a problem, but that it seemed to be fixed by updates... which I've long ago done.
I'd greatly appreciate help with this.

But the guy I was connected to had nothing better to say than it was my problem, since it was my audio file that was the culprit. This despite the fact that the audio file plays fine in Final Cut, and that I imported the audio file two separate times -- once as a .mov and once as .aiff, to new Motion projects. I did this on two different machines, and got the same crashes upon touching the audio file.
I don't see a reason to re-install Motion from scratch since I have the same result on two machines, and other posts have noted the same problem even after re-install.
That said, I would be interested to know if anyone has solved this by reinstalling. -

How to unlink video and audio in FCPX
I am new in FCPX.. can someone tell me how to unlink video and audio in FCPX ? and how to mute audio rather than low the -db ?
There's no 'Unlink' audio (as such) in FCP X but if you select a clip in the timeline, and press Shift+Ctrl+S, the audio breaks away from the clip. Select this, and you can toggle it on and off by pressing V.
Take care with this, because it's easy to get the audio out of sync. You need to move the audio and video together if you have to move them, so I would select them both and press Option+G to make them into a Compound Clip (to preserve sync).
To mute the audio embedded in a clip, select the clip in the timeline and press Cmd+4 to open the Inspector.
Click the Audio Tab at the top of the Inspector and uncheck the Audio Waveform(s). Your Audio will be muted.
To mute audio for the entire project, go to the Roles tab in the Timeline Index (next to the film reel icon) and uncheck Audio or Dialogue (as appropriate).

Popping in audio with FCPX and Lion fixed?
Back in November 2011 i bout an iMac it came with Lion OS on it. I use Final Cut Pro X to edit videos and it didn't take long for me to realize that there was a major issue with the audio popping in FCPX while running Lion. Short on ideas and nowhere to turn, I went to the apple store and they downgraded me back to snow leopard and there were no problems with audio in FCPX. That was a while ago and I was wondering if anyone know if this issue was addressed in upgrades? I want to go back to Lion but fearful after the hassle before. I know that there were other work around options for me but I did what I had to do to make my video editing work. Has this been fixed? Is anyone running Lion and FCPX with no audio popping without changing the audio formats? Thanks.

From the Transitions browser (far right of iMovie's window, shaped like an hourglass), drag the Fade to Black transition to the gap between the Title and video thumbnail. Alternatively, drag the Cross Dissolve transition - rather than fading to black, the image will gradually transform from the Title to the video.
Double-click the transition to open the Inspector - you can change the duration there if preferred.

PS. Re-reading your question, if the video is continuous with a Title inserted, you will need to split the clip at the point where the Title ends, then drag in the transition. To split the clip, right-click (or Control-click) at the split point then select "Split Clip" from the pop-up menu.

Motion Generator seems to be crashing FCPX
I am having problems when I load a Motion generator into my FCPX project. It seems to be crashing the FCPX. It seems to stay open fine until i select the motion generator in my timeline then it just closes and brings up a crash report.
The only thing I can say is that when previewing the generator to drop it into FCPX it is showing a blue screen and not the animation and then when its dropped in the same thing happens if i scroll through the timeline. Then as I saidd, when I click on the generator it crashes FCPX completely.
I have to admit I dont know much about these crash reports and determining where its gone wrong but I wondered if anyone could advise?

Exported Motion Generator not rendering correctly in FCPX 10.0.1

I have a problem with exporting a generator from Motion 5 to FCPX 10.0.1.
1) I created a sequence of a page of a book opening then closing. I created this in Motion 5, and exported it as a Generator to its own category and folder
2) I have found that in this folder a movie of the sequence is created. This movie plays correctly. The movie is located at this path:
HD/ Users/ Name/ Movies/ Motion Templates/ Generators/ Generator Title/ Individual Generator/ Gen Movie.mov HD/ Users/ Name/ Movies/ Motion Templates/ Generators/ Generator Title/ Individual Generator/ Gen Movie.mov
NOTE: I also tried exporting the movie, from motion as a stand alone movie. This and the original motion file play the same and are correct
3) Once in FCPX. I can either skim over the generator or place in the time line and let it render
4) The results are the same, the front cover does not turn correctly. As it closes it gets half way, and then the page disappears. A few frames later it flies in from the left side of the screen
5) This did not happen in the original version of FCPX (10.0), but even though I have an original copy on another machine, I cannot import this whole project, as the files are now too new.
Can anyone help with sorting this out. I was going to upload a couple of small videos to show this, but the video upload button is greyed out.

Final cut pro crashes when reading Motion 5 titles
just made a personal version of the keynote title in FCPX and saved it. it appears in FCPX but it is obviously unable to read it and the title thumbnail appears as a single blue screen, if this is added to project FCPX fails miserably and crashes, yes a blue screen of death on a mac. how can i stop this or edit a title and save it correctly.

-graemei did the 'open a copy in motion' for the existing title in FCPX.
when i have finished with the title in motion, i save it then go back to FCPX, the saved title is there but only as a blue thumbnail, if that is added to the FCPX project, FCPX cant read it correctly and crashes.

I shot some video on an HVX200 in 1080 24p. It had the on camera mics on for reference audio. When I import the clips into FCPX there is no audio. However can see the waveform. The FCP Archive does have audio. When I import the clips I can play them back with audio in the Media Import window. HOwever when they get into my FCPX Event...no audio.
My other clips from the 6D play back just fine, and my other footage from the HVX200 work fine as well. This is the first time I've shot in 108024 so I'm wondering if it has something to do with that.Audio is 48khz, 4 mono.
No waveforms.
No audio in the clips at all (events or when opened in timeline)
One odd bit of info. One clip has about 10 seconds of audio. I also noticed the clips appear to be playing back slowly. They say they are 23.98fps, but it seems like it is playing 30fps at 23.98 (ie slow motion). I wonder if it has to do with the capture of the clips. I used P2 cards and the clips spanned 2 cards. -
Does Motion 5 have Skimming (like in FCPX)
As the title suggests. Does Motion 5 have the Skimming function that FCPX has? I cannot seem to find it.

Hi,
I'm trying to create a "motion" menu using just an audio file associated with the menu. The idea is to have a static menu with a background music.
I tried to to do this but when I build the DVD, Encore (CS4) complains about the pixel aspect ratio (says it is unsuported).
I guess that as it doesn't find any video to build the motion menu, its PAR isn't correct. Nonetheless I suppose that doing what I want to do is pretty standard.
Can someone please help me out?I'm assuming that you're trying to add audio to a still menu.
Two questions: 1) Where do you get the menu (Adobe Encore library, created one in Photoshop, etc).
2) where did you obtain the audio and what is the format (MPEG, WAV, PCM, etc?)
Try the following first.
1) Create a new project. Use a standard still menu from the library
2) Add an audio track.
3) Preview the project.
If it works, you can trouble shoot it from there
