Motion 7.0 = 7344 no more found

Hello,
i just installed a PCI7344 and the Motion 7.0 .
Now there is no more PCI7344 available in the MAX, well it is detected as a card, vendor is NI but there is not "motion device" folder and no 7344.
MAX update (F5)  did not help.
Renaming the data folder in the max folder did not help.
The board has a valit (>0) SN.
In the Windows XPpro Hardware Manager is the 7344 listed as a NI Motion device.
I took another 7344 board to check, the same: no 7344 in the MAX.
System: PCI-PC, Windows XP, LabVIEW 7.1.1, Max 3.1.1, Motion 7.0
I did a test with Motion 6.1.5 and both cards were ok, found and running.
Why does Motion 7.0 no more recognize my Motion board?
There was a forum post a few month ago but this didn´t help.
Best regards
Marko Hepp
PS: is it "legal" to contact US NI because there is no german NI support available at this time (7:20pm europe) ?

The problem seems to be an automated reset situation, that resets the serial number of a 7344 board. Installing the Motion 7.1 (from the LabVIEW8 Package) did not solve the problem. If the SN is "0" there is no more output  within the MAX, so You even can´t see that the SN is now "0".
Installing Motion 6.1.2 after all this, it showed the "0" Serial Number.
We had a second 7344 motion controller here, installed it on the 7.1 and later on 7.0 and it
ran great. It seems that the NI PAL causes the difference: when You uninstall the Motion, the NI PAL stays on the system only when you set up the whole System, NI PAL is "removed". This might be the critical component in the system especially because it is not uninstalled after removing Motion x.x.x.
Now we are running PAL 1.10f0 (from Motion 7.1) and a Motion 7.0.0 and the 7344 card is found. The first card has no more Serial Number and is no more acceped from the MAX.

  • My iphone 4 is no more found in any computers during the USB linking

My iphone 4 is no more found in any computers during the USB linking.......how can I do? I already followed the guide on the Apple site but it is not working. Thanks!

    Ok. What you should do:
    Step One
Open iTunes and connect the iPhone to your Mac.
    Step Two
Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.
    Step Three
After exactly 10 seconds release the Sleep/Wake button. Continue holding the home button until you iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.
Now your iPhone is in DFU mode. Now connect to iTunes with the cable. And click "Restore" in iTunes.
    Hope this solved your question.

  • Modal error with motion controller PCI-7344 during find reference sequence

I get the following error code when I start a find reference sequence (find encoder index) programmatically:
Error # -70125 occured at FindReference on Axis 1
    Possible reasons:
    Motion: -70125 (NIMC_wrongModeError)
The function was not executed because it was attempted at an illegal time.
When I do the find reference sequence in MAX, it works fine. But I need I programmatically after the initialization sequence. Does anyone had the same problem?

    Hi,
Could you please post a little bit more informations regarding the board you are using, lv version, ni-motion version and perhaps the code, you have programmed and which is generating the error message?
    Thanks.

  • Motion does not open any more

    Hi
after I used motion for one day I have received update suggestion for motion on my app store and after installing that , the logo of motion opens and thats it nothing will show up. in task bar also it shows motion is open but there is no way for opening it. I tried removing restarting but none of them did not work!!!!

What version of the OS are you using, what's your currently installed version of Motion? Can you access the file menu to try to create a new project or is the application completely locked up? I'd start by quitting motion and then launching the application while holding the Command+Option keys.  This will give you the options to delete the preferences and basically get Motion to a default state.  If that doesn't work, I'd delete the application (move to trash and empty), and then reinstall it from the App Store.

  • 7344 servo motion switching between open and closed loop operation

I have a custom end-of-line test system presently using a 4-axis 7344 servo controller to perform various functional tests on small, brushed DC motors. The system is programmed in C/C++ and uses flex motion functions to control the motor during testing. Motors are coupled to external encoder feedback and third party PWM drives running in closed-loop torque mode from an analog command signal. The system uses all four motion axis channels on the 7344 board to independently and asynchronously test up to four production motors at a time.
In closed-loop mode, the system runs without issue, satisfying the battery of testing protocols executed by this system. I now have a request to add additional test functionality to the system. This testing must be run in open loop mode. Specifically, I need to use my +/- 10v analog output command to my torque drive to send different DAC output levels to the connected motor.drive while monitoring response.
I do not believe the flex motion library or 7344 controller includes functions to easily switch between open and closed loop mode without sending a new drive configuration. I am also under the impression that I cannot reconfigure one (or more) servo controller axis channels without disabling the entire drive. As my system runs each axis channel in an asynchronous manner, any requirement to shutdown all drives each time I change modes is an unworkable solution.
I am open to all ideas that will allow asynchronous operation of my 4 motor testing stations. If the only solution is to add a second 7344 controller and mechanical relays to switch the drive and motor wiring between two separately configured servo channels, so be it. I just want to explore any available avenue before I place a price tag on this new system requirement.
    Bob

    Jochen,
Thank you for the quick response. The 7344 board does an excellent job running my manufacturing motor assemblies through a custom end-of-line tester in closed loop mode. A portion of the performance history and test result couples the motor through a mechanical load and external shaft. The shaft is in contact with a linear encoder that closes my servo loop.
My new manufacturing requirement is to also sample/document how the small DC motor behaves in open loop operation. Your solution is exactly what I need to perform the additional functional tests on the product I am manufacturing. I see no reason why this cannot work. I was originally concerned that I would need to reinitialize the 7344 board after changing axis configuration. Initialization is a global event and impacts all four channels on the 7344 board.
Using flex_config_axis() to change axis configuration on a single channel without disturbing other potentially running axis channels will solve my concern. It will be several weeks before I can return to the manufacturing facility where the 7344-based testing machine is located. I will update this thread once I verify a successful result.

    Hi,
i have PCI-7344 and UMI-7774  that i want to connect to this Servo motor drive of Yaskawa.
    1)  How do i know if this motor drive is compatible with the pci-7344 and umi7774 ?
for example:  inside the UMI manual is written that the Motor drive must support "Sinusoidal Commutation"
i look indside the Motor Drive manual and i dont found anything about this.
this is link to the motor drive:

    2)  How do i connect the feedback and control lines  from the UMI to the Motor drive?
i'll appreciate any help including posting a link to a tutorial that helps to understand the signals from the motor drive and the encoder
And also the umi-7344  (Phase A,  Phase B, Hall sensor, inhibit, Fault, etc... )
Some powerpoint or Pdf tutorial that National instruments provide will help as well.
P.S.  i read the manual of the UMI-7774 and the pci7344 manual, but i'm yet not understand what i need to do
in order to configure my motion system :
PCI-7344  , UMI-7774  ,  Motor Drive (Sigma FSP Yaskawa) ,  Servo Motor (Yaskawa)

    Dear Nate,
Thank you for repling to my posts, i really appreciate that.
The links you provide is very helpfull.
i'm enginner in my education, but not in this area (i'm information systems eng.)
i decided that i need to learn more about it (ni-imaq, ni-motion, line-scan camera, servo, servo drives, encoder signals, motion i/o, umi, pci7344, etc..)
So, i download the manual and help files that is needed to my application i want to build
(high speed machine vision of color line-scan camera connected to motion with rtsi synchronization and also digital i/o)
and now i'm reading ALL this, its huge amount to read, and not all the thing i understand in the begining (english is not my lang..)
    Thanks again for the replies.

  • 10.6.8 update and sudden motion sensor

I have MBP 8,1, 2011 base model i5. Since i updated to 10.6.8 it seems like sudden motion sensor got a lot more sensitive. Never seen it work before, now if i lift the mbp from desk even i can hear the hdd clicking home. I have disabled the sensor and it stops even i move the computer around very fast. So it is not just the drive doing, sensor is triggering that.
I was wondering if anyone knows if sensivity of this sensor changed on last mac os update? or if anyone else noticed it too?
    Thx
    Ozzy

    Hi Ozzy,
I have not noticed any difference on my MBP.

  • Motion menus - are there any other kind?

    Hello
I am creating a DVD of a memorial service and have chaptered all 15 elements of the service. When I try to burn the DVD, it says that I have too much content in my motion menus.
Question 1: Is there a menu/chapter screen available that DOESN'T require the motion, or that will allow more than 6 chapters per screen (so that I only have to have two instead of three)? I'd be more than happy to have a menu screen with no movement on it.
Question 2: If I can get rid of the motion screens, will it help reduce the size of the DVD at all? I am going to have to burn this on a double layer disc because it is three minutes too long... There isn't anything else to cut out, however.
All I need is a chapter menu that will allow people to go to the part of the service they want to watch... nothing fancy. I didn't even add any picture content in the chapter screens - just video in the main menu screen. (I'm using the western theme for the main menu and the Movie projector theme for the chapter menus).
    Thanks for your help!!

Keep in mind not all DVD Players will read DL Media (especially older set top players).
Stay w/in the TV Safe area (shown below). And yes you can have No motion. And it will help .... (see the check box in the hi-lighted area right above the slider)
What about something like this? Might this work for you?
    By sdmacuser at 2007-09-30
Changing a motion button to a still image
You can remove the motion effect on a button and make the button show a still image.
To remove the motion effect from a button:
Click the button to select it.
In the Movie pane that appears (shown above), click the checkbox to remove the checkmark.
To change the image on the button, drag the slider until you see the image you want.
Click somewhere else in the menu to close the Movie pane.

  • Heavily filtered Motion clips crashing FCP

    Hi,
I am having some serious issues with a fcp project involving a lot of keying of clips done in Motion. All was running more or less smoothly until I apparently let one too many of my completed motion clips remain unrendered in my fcp timeline. Now I can't access my timeline without hanging/crashing every time I try to navigate within fcp.
I would really appreciate anyone who can help/present a workflow that might save my butt and allow me to continue working on a project with a very swiftly approaching deadline.
My G5 power mac has 8 gigs of ram, and a Geforce6600 graphics card. The material is XD cam EX 1080p 25.
    Many thanks in advance!
    -Tom

Well, rename or hide the Motion projects (or at least a few of them). FCP won't be able to find them and your crashing should stop.
Render the ones you have left in your timeline. Save. Exit. Bring back one or two more Motion files. Open your FCP project again. Render them. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
    Post back,
    Patrick

  • Adobe Muse does not show motion scroll tab

    Hello,
I installed trial version of Adobe muse (latest version). I click on "effect" link on top. But I can only see 3 option Shadow, Bevel, Glow. 4th option "Motion scroll" is missing. Can some tell me what's wrong with it? I tried to re-install it around 5 times, but it is still same. Please help me.

Scroll effect is same "Scroll motion" just renamed & added some more features. It helps to animate things across website.
If you are looking for parallax effect in a particular box, for example: Adobe Muse CC Parallax Scrolling Tutorial | Scrolling Image Masks - YouTube
You have to find scroll tab in "fill", or you can go through with example.

  • Where is the Motion 5.0.1 update?

I looked at the "About Motion" box to see what version I have. It says 5.0. I wondered if there was an update, so I started to search. 30 minutes later, I'm no closer than when I started.
The first obvious thing I did was choose Software Update from the Apple menu. It tells me that all of my software is up to date, so I decided to check further just out of curiostiy.
I found this page telling me what's new in Motion 5.0.1:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/motion/id434290957?mt=12
I found this page with the Motion 5.0.1 release notes:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4591
When I go to the downloads page, all I see for Motion 5 is the Content update:
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/#motion%205
So, what am I missing? Is there a 5.0.1? If so, where is it?
    Related questions...
Is there an automatic update option for Motion? I sure can't find one. It's easy to find that option on iTunes. If there isn't one for Motion, why not?
Yes, I'm a bit frustrated at this point (sorry). Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bryce

Thanks, Karsten! I bought Motion 5 in June 2011, and that's the only time I've ever used the App Store, so I'd completely forgotten about that.
Maybe it's because I've only used the App Store once, but I'm confused and disoriented trying to navigate my way through it. I finally found what I'm looking for, but now I have a lot of other questions....however, those are for the App Store community.
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!

  • "Distributed motion control'

    Hi there,
For a future project we are making a first study, and as I'm not really familiar with NI solutions, I hope some of you can share some thoughts.
For this project, we will have to control the following hardware:
     - 28 cryogenic stepper motors in open loop (no encoder feedback possible) and very simple motions ("move x degrees") just a few times per hour max.
     - 2 cryogenic stepper motors in open loop, but with a constantly changing position setpoint (>50Hz should be fine)
     - 50-100 I/O temperature and pressure readings (sampling in de range of a few Hz maximum)
How would a possible "NI solution" look?
Our systems engineering guidelines say that it is highly preferrably to move the "control unit" away from the instrument (say 50 meters apart, in a computer room), and that all fieldbuses should be ethernet based. In that case I was thinking to have:
     - a PXI chassis in the computer room
     - an EtherCAT connection from the PXI chassis to a daisy chain of 4 NI-9144 expansion chassis, all equipped with the 28+2 NI 9512 stepper controllers, connected to 28+2 stepper drivers
     - an extra NI-9144 (or compactFieldpoint chassis) for the DAQ
It seems quite rediculous to have so many NI-9144 expansion chassis, so another solution is to ignore the "control unit near instrument" rule and to have a single PXI controller with 4 8-axis stepper controller boards and a few DAQ boards inside.
Another solution would be to have 28+2 standalone third-party stepper "controller and drivers" inside the instrument, connected with an ethernet fieldbus to a labview target in the computer room. But I'm having troubles of finding suitable stepper controllers+drivers (maybe because stepper motors and ethernet motion control are not so commonly found in industry?)
Thanks for any thoughts on this,
     Wim

We've roughly worked out a layout of such a control system on paper, but it remains a quite vague "study" until the project enters the next stage (which depends on funding since it's a scientific instrument). I can send you a document about it if you want (just PM me your e-mail address), but I doubt it'll be of much use. Anyway the final solution will look much different from our original plan, and if I'd have any say in it, I'd most likely choose a PLC-based solution over this one.

  • How to get a stable DA output without feedback in PCI-7344

I have a motion controoler PCI-7344 to control a PZT stage without any kind of feedback. And PCI-7344 is expected to act as a DA output with trajectory generation and onboard programming. But I am confused about how to configurate this motion card.
Another thing I want to know is what is the normal noise level of the DA output. My card's noise is very large(roughly 70mV RMS). Is this noise is normal for the PCI-7344? Or this noise is caused by my incorrect configuration and use of PCI-7344. I have tried to use the analog feedback and none feedback to configurate motion card, and the noise are the same.

If you just want to output a trajectory profile without feedback a multifunction board like the PCI-6229 would be a better choice. Simply precalculate your trajectory profiles and send them to the outputs of the board.

  • Bringing 3D camera data into Motion

I want to import 3D camera data into modo. Specifically, I want to use Luxology modo 3D with Apple Motion.
The only 3D app that I heard of that can do it was on a recent thread about Cinema 4D:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2138373
My question is... are there any barriers to this happening? Is Motion's camera keyframe data in a hidden format? Is the information about Motion's keyframing kept secret, or is it openly published?
The reason I ask is that if the information about Motion's keyframing is freely available, then I could ask for help from programmers (knowledgeable in modo 3D app) to make a script that could do it.
Does anyone know how C4D managed to do it, or how that came about?
It would be in the interests of Motion if it could support more 3D apps. In fact, it would generate so many new sales that Apple should pay to have it done! Possibly Collada would make a good intermediate format, as it is open-source and well supported among 3D apps.
But if it could be done via a script, that would be wonderful.

Yes, I'd like to take the camera keyframes from Luxology modo, and bring them into Apple Motion.
Imagine you create a beautiful 3D scene in your favorite 3D app, then you want to add some text to it, floating in space. It would be great to bring the rendered video into Motion, as a backdrop. Then we just need Motion's camera to track the same direction as the original 3D camera did, and it opens up a whole world of type possibilities, using Motion's text engines.

I can't roll Motion Menu duration past 4;29 in PE9. Want it to be 10 seconds and 4;29 is the limit

Thanks for your quick reply.  I have double checked the durations, and they seem to be OK, but i still cant set the motion menu button duration to more than 5 seconds.  Here is what they are set to:
    Menu Background
Duration: 29;29  (I can change this from 00;01 to 29;29 - which is fine for my needs)
    Motion Menu Buttons
Duration: 04;29 (i can change this from 00;01 to 04;29 - This is what I'd like to set this to something larger)
