Motion canvas on a second monitor question

Ok, so after jumping through multiple flaming hoops to get the app store to update motion to 5.0.1 i have a question concerning one of the "improvements"
Putting your canvas on a second monitor.  Is there a way to do so WITHOUT the toolbar going with it?  Please?  Awww come on?!?

Well, why?  The tool bar is full of the tools you use in the Canvas itself.  Why would you want to move them far away from the Canvas?  I don't see that it would make sense to move the tools used in the Canvas and Layers pane to a different monitor where they're NOT used.
The F8 function also quickly switches to a really nice setup hiding the Inspector and Layers panes.

  • A second monitor question

Hello, I just got the new iMac, and I'm planning to get another display (maybe and 20"). I just wonder if I hook up the second display, will the graphics of the main monitor experience slow down? The card is a x1600 128mb.
    Thanks for any info.

Why wouldn't it? It says here that it can support both video mirroring, and extended desktops:

  • MSI Gt70 dominator pro connecting second monitor questions

I have the new dominator pro, when I plug in my monitor (23" asus ips) it automatically runs off my gtx gpu. Light turns on, heats up (not hot but not idle). Is there any way to change this to run off intel? I'm not doing anything at all that would require descrite power, right now im just trying to have vevo on monitor for my son to watch videos while I work on my laptop screen.
I know with my asus g750 laptops it was always defaulted to intel gpu when connecting second screen.

    Quote from: Dblkk;108055
Yea, I tried that. That's how I always set up multi monitor (then I have the extend/clone/ect options. But when I did that, the resolution was horrible, the picture was a good 4 inches from each side (left/right) and all the way top to bottom. All settings were full screen, regular resolution, eveyhing exactly the way it runs on my other machines. Just total crap on my msi, and NVidia graphics were still on.
I searched all settings and everything looks legit, but NVidia graphics are in charge. Maybe that's just the design of the msi, whenever a second screen is used, it just defaults (without user control) to NVidia. Maybe bios or something hidden?
Not a huge issue, just wasn't sure if it was a common msi thing with an easy fix or not.
I forgot to ask something as well. How is the monitor connected? HDMI? DVI? DP? Maybe a diferent cable might change the result? I'll try the monitor thing on my demo unit when I'm back at Memory Express on Sunday and update.

I want to use my apple TV as a second monitor not a mirrored one, in other words, I want to use my TV as a second screen not a copy of my first screen, other people have asked this question but have been given mirroring answers so I am spelling it out here very specifically. I want a second display. This should be possible and would be awesome. Anyone know how to do this?

Nevermind I just installed it to try it and it's awesome, so happy right now, Thanks. All the things I had read about it on third party sites led me to believe it could not do extended desk tops, thanks for your help!

  • Questions about connecting second monitor to HP 610-1015xt TouchSmart AIO

    Hi,
I have a HP 610-1015xt  touchsmart PC with AMD Radeon HD5570.  Now I've gone through all the similar questions on this forum and I still had a couple of my own or needed some more calarity on some.
I've read time and again that one should use the second monitor in "clone" mode istead of "extended" mode because TouchSmart software is not compatilable with exteded mode. Now does that simply mean that my PC may show erratice behavior if I try to use touch features while in extended mode and second monitor connected?  Because if that's the only issue, I can live with it as I don't use touch features at all. Also, will dsiabling touch help in any way?
Is anyone here using a second monitor in extended mode on a touchsmart? Have you guys faced any issues?
Also, what I'm trying to find out is if things will run smooth if I connect a HP 32" Quad HD monitor with 2560 x 1440 resolution? I have found a adapater called Plugable USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter which supports 2560 x 1440, I'm just trying to figure out if my PC will be able to hadle it? If anyone has any knowledge on this, please do share.  Because if I can't get the full resolution, I will just settle for a full HD screen.
People, please do share your experinece or suggestions. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Jay

Jay, I own a notebook without touch but a monitor with touch. I use my monitor as extended monitor. The touch works fine on the extended monitor and works without touch on the notebook screen. I do not face any issues in using this way. Depending on my need, it switch my primary display to the extended touch monitor or notebook screen. Whether it is the primary display or not, when in extended mode, the touch works fine on my monitor.
Regarding the other question on Quad monitors, my knowledge is limited. Sorry for not being able to answer that part of the question.
    I am an HP employee.

  • Second monitor canvas preview

I have a Sony TV that has HDMI in and I would like to use this as a preview monitor. Can I just run a DVI/HDMI cable from the tower to the tv? Or is there another way?

All this does is create a second computer desktop hanging off of the computer graphics card, is this what the OP wants?

  • Question about using an older television as second monitor

I have the late 2006 iMac 24 listed below (Core 2 Duo) and would like to connect a standard television as a second monitor. The telly has (2) S-video ports and the usual RCA-type plugs. Are linkages available to allow this with my iMac? If so, could you direct me to the proper components? Will audio be available to me, as well? Can I acquire the components locally (Radio Shack, CC, BB, etc.)? Thanks for your assistance.
    -jjsea

    Hi jjsea
To connect a TV using S-video or Composite (yellow) cable you will need the M9319G/A Mini-DVI to Video adapter, which may be available at some BestBuy's.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9319G/A
The iMac's Mini DVI port does not support the Audio, that will have to come from your Headphone jack using a separate RCA (red & white) cable and an adapter like the one in the next link:
    http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat%5Fid=118&sku=40645
or an adapter/cable like the next one:
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?TabID=1&ModuleNo=31700&doy=19m2
I'm using this same set-up and it works great for watching all types of DVD movies, Q-Time movies, YouTube videos, iPhoto slideshows and more, but the set-up is a little rough for working in text documents.

  • CS4 - Is there a way to adjust gamma for second monitor or send to overlay?

One thing that is evident when I edit in Premiere CS4 using the AVCHD 1080i 60 template is that the preview in the second monitor, which in my case is my TV set connected using a DVI to HDMI cable, is that the output is too dark compared to what it should be. Darker areas of the frame sometimes even get crushed into black when the same footage, when played directly from the camcorder, or even burned to blu-ray and played, is noticeably brighter and at the right black levels.
This doesn't happen when editing in Vegas Pro 8, or when the untouched footage is played through other video player, including Windows 7 Media Center.
A workaround for this problem can be to go to the graphics card control panel, in my case ATI Catalyst, and adjust the gamma for the second monitor, with the problem being that when you're done editing in Premiere you have to go back to the normal gamma. At one point I had setup two profiles in Catalyst with shortcuts and it worked well, but one day Catalyst simply lost the profiles and noticing how buggy it was I wasn't going to keep creating profiles so that Catalyst would delete them.
So my question is, since it's not in the preferences, is there some settings file or registry address that I can tweak to make Premiere display a brighter gamma of my choice?
And this may be a dead end, but is there a way to send the output of the second monitor to the overlay so that it can take advantage of the graphic's card video capabilities and display video smoothly? It's nice to have a preview of the timeline, but it's rather annoying if I have to go to the Catalyst control panel and adjust gamma before editing and after editing and that motion is jerky and not interlaced when I'm editing interlaced content.

You need the VESA mount option. That way your minimum angle would be completely vertical and you could open it to a negative 10 degrees.
    Hope this helps.

Is it possible to use my ipad 4 as a second monitor through a USB connection.

perhaps, but my information was current. I had the same question and was looking for and answer and found it. So I responded in order to help others who found this question and were looking for an answer. This community is made more helpful and kept current by adding new answers with current information.
imobl... air display was a valid response for 2011 predating the question. Also using Monitor2go was valid in 2012. There were USB mirroring and as a 2nd display for an iPad options at the time the original question was asked.

  • Connect a g5imac to a g4 powerbook as a second monitor

    Is this possible?
I want to use the laptop as a bigger screen to aid in editing, is it possible?
I have a powermac g5imac with 2 gig ram in.
    Thanks in advance.

Andy simply answered your very specific question. Now, if you want to hook up a second monitor (not the laptop as you first asked) to your iMac then you may get a few longer answers. Like, Maybe.
If you are editing DV then you should be able to connect your DV cam or deck via FW then connect a monitor to your camera or deck. However, this will just give you a playback monitor, you will not be able to extend your desktop to this monitor. With an iMac I think that is impossible to do because of the lack of additional video (DVI or VGA) outputs.
    Long enough?

  • How to use an iMac as a second monitor for an iMac

I have two 21.5 inch iMac's (late 2009) and I want to use one as a second monitor for the other. I have a Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort connector but when I connect it to both computers, nothing happens. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong once they're plugged in or if I have the wrong cable all together. Any tips or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Not going to work, the ONLY 2009 / 2010 iMacs that supported Target Display Mode were the 27" models, 21.5" models simply will not work. Please read Apple FAQ on TDM and you will see I am correct.
Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
While Neil is correct, Screen Recycler's performance is not that good so the user experience probably will not be worth it.

  • How to connect a second monitor/TV to HP ENVY Beats All-In-One

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is even possible to connect a second monitor to the HP ENVY Beats All-In-One Desktop PC, because I'm trying to connect my TV as the second monitor through HDMI and I've tried everything that I could, but have come up empty handed?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi,
What is the model/product of your AIO machine ? I many cases, you can't use HDMI port to connect to a TV because it is HDMI IN port. You need USB - HDMI converter/adapter to connect to a TV (or monitor).
    Regards.

  • DVI- HDMI discoloration on HDTV (as second monitor)

    Hello all.
I have been having some issues when using my Philips CRT 30" 1080i HDTV as a second monitor via a DVI->HDMI cable. There seems to be a discoloration that occurs (my best guess being a "green" discoloration) that occurs in the top left corner of the screen. It is made all the more apparent when you then unplug, and a purple haze is left in the corner of the "blue" video input channel. (i imagine the green discoloration on the blue channel yields purple).
From what I can tell, this problem does not occur on any other video input (say, a Wii on the composite channel, or an XBOX on the component, etc).
I had heard rumblings that it could be, in order of bad to worst: a bad HDMI cable, a bad HDMI input on the television, or the television going bad period.
Wanted to know if any of you have had or heard of similar experiences. Need to decide soon if I'm going to had to just buy a new HDMI cable, or if I need to buy a new television/monitor for a job coming up.
    Thanks in advance!
    Brian

Problems like that are caused by stray magnetism that cause misalignment of the electron beams from landing on the proper phosphor color. The set itself has a demagnetizer, but sometimes the magnetism is too strong for the built-in demagnetizer to overcome. But calling in a TV repair person to do a demagnetization is, I'm afraid, a throw back to bygone days. But that's what your TV needs.

  • Problems with my second monitor after upgrading to Mountain Lion

Basically I have a Mac Pro 8-core with two video boards (2 x NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 MB) connected to two monitors. After upgrading to the Lion Mountain, 90% of the time when I start my MAC the second monitor doesn't show it image, keeps in full black screen, what puzzle me is, I can see the mouse arrow on it, so its alive, but its in black, than I have to restart the computer over and over again until it finally make the second shows it contains.
Have anyone experienced the same problem?!

    Hello Carlo!
Sorry but I don't understand which part of my question is not clear. I've been to the Apple Store, they asked me to bring my 20kg Mac Pro and both 24" inches Eizo monitors to central London to have it checked. Well, honestly, this is impossible, is an invitation for an accident.
Is just unbeliavable that no one has experienced my problem, looks like I am the only one person with two monitors using the Lion Mountain.

You will need to purchase and use a USB-to-video adapter such as the EVGA UV Plus+ UV39 (or any of the many other adapters on the market) to connect an external display to your computer. I personally use and recommend the EVGA UV Plus+ UV39.
