Motion: controlling start/stop of animated still?

Very simple move on a still.  I want to start on closeup, move out, pause at one point mid-frame, then move out further to full frame.
I'm just using keyframes.  I get my start very smooth (bezier) out to my 'pause' ... both the start and the stop at the pause are very smooth.  Then I move out of the pause and out to full frame.  If I'm using the bezier curve it seems I can get a real nice start up out of the pause - but when I arrive wide at the full frame it is a mildly jerky stop.  I have added an extra keyframe after the final keyframe.  If I highlight all the final 'stop' keyframes and 'extrapolate' to an 'ease-in' I get a very smooth seamless decelleration and stop - but!:  the start-up out of the pause is now jerky.
Is there any way I can have both a smooth slowly accelerating move out of the pause AND get a slow decelleration when I arrive at the full wide end position?
I've done this dozens of times before - numerous pauses and moves on a single still, but about a year or so ago, and can't remember for the life of me how I did it.
I don't think I was using the camera, OR the 3D.
Any help would be enormously appreciated...
Ben

fcp just doesn't do a great job with this sort of thing.  Roughing out the move in fcp and then sending the clip to motion and adjusting the keyframe interpolation may give you better control.

  • Turning off DV start/stop when capturing HDV

    I am trying to figure out how to capture from my camera that shoots HDV. when I capture, FCP divides every cut into a new clip. I would like to turn this off. I unchecked the box that says "make new clip at start/stop" but I still get the divided clips. I heard there is a way to turn this with the new version. I am capturing HDV 720p
    Thanks,
    Johnny

    There is no fix. That is the nature of HDV. Every time the camera is started and stopped, the camera creates a new clip. That is because HDv records in a long GOP (group of pictures) structure, and when you stop the camera, the structure is broken...FCP detects this and creates a new clip.
    But so to other NLEs...

    Can I pause the gif animation? start, stop?

    Hello,
    you can't control a gif animation in Edge but you can use John Dunning's plugin for exporting symbols from Fireworks to Edge. you can download and try it here: http://johndunning.com/fireworks/about/EdgeAnimate

  • Foot Control to Start/Stop Recording??

    Does anyone know if Garageband can be remotely controlled to start and stop recording? Isn't there some sort of midi foot control pedal that allows this? If anyone has any experience with this, I'd love to hear!

    The iControl is a control surface that controls many things in GarageBand. However, I don't think it could be used for a remote control for punching in/out.
    I agree. We need some kind of remote start/stop "peddle" type controller. I just ordered the PowerMate from Griffin. I don't need 50' of cabling, just about 5' or so. Should be perfect for me. I dunno about setting it on the floor and stomping on it though

    We use http://www.jrkerr.com/index.html motor control system. This uses
    low cost Pics and a serial network. The drivers are a DLL and can be
    called from LabVIEW. I have built multi axis devices and it has worked
    real reliable. (No problems).
    A company called Compu-Motion has experience building low cost hardware and
    software for mult-axis devices. Compu-Motion web site is
    www.compu-motion.com. Compu-Motion could help you build the hardware or

  • Start/Stop control for itunes

    I am in a band and I use itunes to playback my drum tracks. Anyone know of a switch (I'm visualizing a USB start/stop footswitch) which I could use to stop itunes playing? Thanks for your help. Brett

    Oh, ya.  I know all about that problem.  Sorry it is not good news.  You will probably need a new phone.  Moisture has gotten into the button or the dock port and shorted the home button contacts.  Replacing the button will not fix it since it is the contacts on the board that are shot.  You can Google fixes for iPhone home button, for more details.  There is a rough work around fix of adding a few drops of rubbing alcohol on the button and pressing it 15 times then blowing it out with compressed air.  This helped a bit, but did not fix the problem.
    Happened to me while I was running a bit of sweat must have gotten in.  There and it started happening to me.

  • How to make my SLIDER control the movement of animations: ( fast & slow)

    hello!
    i wanna do water dropping animations. using a slider, to controlled how fast and slow the animations can be.
    please help me!!!

    I need help about controlling my animations with slider.
    I already know about slider & water dropping animations, but how to make this 2 things interract.
    Right now i have slider and water dropping animations, but when i scroll my slider up and down, my animations still with the same speed.
    In my opinion, i think, i need to make one func/method that take var from slider and transfer it to water dropping var(controlling the speed of anim...).
    eg: (coding)
    //class bla...bla...bla...
    JLabel sliderValue = new JLabel("Value = 25"); // slider var
    JSlider sliders = new JSlider(JSlider.VERTICAL, 0, 50, 25);
    WaterDropPanel drop = new WaterDropPanel(); // waterdropclass
    JButton start = new JButton("Start"); // start anim...
    JButton stop = new JButton("Stop"); // stop anim...
    //waterdrop class...
    class BulatanPanel extends JPanel implements Runnable
    private Thread runner;
    int yPos = -20;
    int yMove = 4;
    void playAnimation()
    if (runner == null);
    runner = new Thread(this);
    runner.start();
    void stopAnimation()
    if (runner != null);
    runner = null;
    public void run()
    Thread thisThread = Thread.currentThread();
    while (runner == thisThread)
    yPos += yMove;
         if (yPos > 310)
         yPos = -20;
    repaint();
    try
    Thread.sleep(10); // var controlling the speed of anim...
         catch (InterruptedException e) {}
    public void paintComponent(Graphics comp) {
    Graphics2D comp2D = (Graphics2D)comp;
    comp2D.setColor(Color.black);
    comp2D.fillRect(0, 0, 250, 240);
         comp2D.setColor(Color.red);
    comp2D.fillOval(110, yPos, 20, 20);
    // slider event handling... ( In my constructor)
    public void stateChanged(ChangeEvent e)
    sliderValue.setText("Value = " + ((JSlider) e.getSource()).getValue());
    I'M SORRY IF ITS TOO LONG

  • Using Mattes and Masks to add real mouths to stop frame animation.

    Hi all, I'm new to Final Cut Pro, having only really used Avid on PC in the past. I'm currently studying animation in my third year at university and I seem to have hit a stumbling block.
    Basically I have created a short stop frame animation featuring various characters, movements and shots etc. From here I would like to be able to add 'real' mouths to those characters (by means of filming the lips/mouths of my voice actors in video format and super imposing them). So here's where it gets complicated (for me at least!).. Whilst I have read that it is possible to overlay sections of video upon original video using Mattes and Masks I haven't been able to find any instructions as to how I would be able to accomplish this with images which are moving around the screen (I.E. I would need to add a mouth to a character who is walking along a road, from left to right, and so I would need to be able to manipulate the location of the mouth so that it was always located over my characters face). I hope that my question makes some sense , I wont get my hopes up for a resolution, but this seems to be quite a busy board and I've managed to pick up a few tips from here recently so hey, worth a shot .

    Forgot to mention that you'll have to keyframe the mask to move as well.
    If the speach shots are not moving then you have definately made things much simplier for yourself.
    For a simple example of keyframing. (Don't blame me if I confuse you further)
    Load a clip in the viewer. (make sure that you have the canvas set to IMAGE and WIREFRAME.
    Click the MOTION TAB in the viewer. Each of the Basic Motion attributes can be controled individually over a period of time. This is done by placing keyframes on the timeline to the right of each attribute.
    Place the playhead (in the canvas) at the start of your clip, then press the round button in the Centre attribute section. The black dot added to the timeline is your first keyframe.
    Now move the playhead further down the timeline and press the round button in the Centre attribute section again. Now click the imag in the Canvas and drag it to the right.
    Now when you play the clip the shot will move left to right, one keyframe to the next.
    That's it in a very small nutshell. And remember, almost any effect or motion can be keyframed.

  • Animating stills into video project program options

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    Dear experts:
    I just acquired PE7 on the assumption that it was a sophisticated program that allowed me to integrate/edit  stills into my video footage to create a complete dvd and boy was I dissapointed to find that I cannot even pan a still like the simpler and free Windows Movie Maker that came with my machine. I create "Ken Burns" type documentaries that have a lot of stills and live video footage and now I am stuck.
    Can someone advise as to the best way to accomplish this like?:
    A. Create the documentary animated stills in another program and copy them into PE7 (or make a dvd first ? Which program is best for this?
    B Is there another Adobe program out there that does both full video and animated stills to create a full dvd?
    Please advise.
    Thanks in advance,
    Tom

    Here's some more links that might help. Some of these links are for prior versions of PRE, or for Premiere Pro, so the menu items and whatnot might not be exactly the same as PRE7, but the concepts are the same and generally the features just move around from version to version.

    http://millie.furman.edu/mll/tutorials/premiere/premiere2effects.pdf
    Basically, if you
    Right click on your image in the Timeline, and select Show Properties, it will open the Properties panel.
    Click on the triangle next to "Motion" to display the details for the Motion effects. "Postion" controls where on the screen your image is; "Scale" controls the "zoom" on your image as a percentage of normal (100=normal scale, 50=half size)
    For discussion sake, let's say your image is 4 seconds long.
    You change the Scale to 50. If you do a preview, you can see the image is half-size for the entire 4 seconds. But let's say you want the image to start at half-size, but end at full-size. In other words, start a half size and zoom in until it's full size.
    That's where keyframes come in.
    So click the "Toggle Animation" button. This will open a mini timeline. This timeline represents the 4 seconds of your clip.
    Put a keyframe at the very beginning (move the red line as far left as it will go, click the diamond icon). Change the Scale to 50.
    This tells PRE that at the beginning of the clip, you want the scale to be 50.
    Next, move the red line as far right as it will go. Click the diamond again to set another keyframe. Set the Scale to 100.
    This tells PRE that at the end of the clip, you want the scale to be 100.
    That's it. PRE will calculate all the "in between" values. You can actually see this in action by moving the red line back and forth. If you position the red line exactly at 2 seconds, you'll see PRE has computed the value as 75. Magic, eh?
    To get fancier, you could
    add a keyframe at 2 seconds, make its value 100, and
    change the ending keyframe's value to 50.
    This would make PRE start at half size, zoom to full size, and zoom back out to half size.
    Hopefully that will give you an idea of what keyframes do. I was really intimidated by them at first, but after playing around a little, I found them incredibly powerful and actually much easier to use than I thought.
    By the way, changing the Scale causes your image to zoom in and out. If you change the Position values, you can cause your image to move - changing the horizontal values only can move it move left to right (or vice versa), vertical values to move up and down.
    By changing the Position *and* Scale, you could make your image pan left-to-right *and* zoom in.
    By changing Position *and* Scale *and* Rotation, you could make it pan left-to-right, zoom in, and spin around. Which would probably make you throw up, but it gives you an idea of what keyframes can do.
    Other keyframe tips:
    The left and right triangles surrounding the diamond allow you to move back and forth between established keyframes
    If you turn animation off after you've set keyframes, it will erase all of your keyframes (after asking you, of course). This can be a good thing or bad thing, depending...
    If you type a new value in a property, it will automatically add a keyframe whereever the red line is (that is, the red line in the keyframe panel next to the properties, not the red line in the Timeline).
    After keyframes are placed, you can move them by dragging them.

  • Batch / script file to start /stop sap server

    Hi,
       I would like to start/stop SAP server using batch file (in windows). I need this, whenever we have to shutdown the server and restart of the server, so that SAP will automatically shutdown and restart using batch files while server restart cases? If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks,
    Regards,
    Sundar.

    target of the 700 sapstartsrv improvement was to deliver identical functionality on all SAP platforms. As the DCOM programing model is only available on Windows platforms sapstartsrv.exe was enhanced by the WEB-Service interface and is available now on Unix too.
    The DCOM SAPControl interface of sapstartsrv.exe is still existing, but only on Windows. Here you can use VB Script or any other programming language able to handle DCOM objects to write your own programs / scripts to interact with the SAPControl.
    sapcontrol.exe is a command line program available since 700 which enables you control over nearly all functions of the sapstart service.
    Even it has the same name as the DCOM interface it' something completly different.

  • Motion control: PXI 7350 controller and UMI 7774 to interface with third-party driver UDK5114NW2

    Dear community,
    This is about Motion control in Labview: I try to control a step motor by using a PXI 7350 controller and UMI 7774 to interface with  third-party driver UDK5114NW2. The problem is 5 Disable LEDS on UMI 7774 board always lit even when I check "enable" on "Motion I/O setting" in configuration of PXI 7350 motion controller. Furthermore, when I start to control step motor, it is not working and I found disable LED on UMI board still lit. I don't know how to solve this problem. Can someone help me to figure out? Thank you in advance!
