Motion cutting off photoshop layer

I am having a problem with motion cutting off a part of a PhotoShop layer. I've had this problem a few times and thought I had fixed it. The problem is that the entire sequence looks good in motion, but when I bring it into Final Cut or I export it using Compressor, the layer is cut off as it is moving back and scaling down. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Check the Fixed Resolution box for the Motion layer that contains the Photoshop layers. Motion automatically turns on Fixed Resolution for Photoshop files to match the original size of the psd, < </div>
Score! I didn't know that. Thanks, Q, another gotcha for the already overloaded memory banks.

  • Adobe Media Encoder cuts off video layer when the Ultra Key effect is applied

I am working on a Mac (10.8.5) using the latest verison of Premiere Pro CC. I am using Ultra Key to remove the chroma key background from the "talent layer" and adding a "new background layer" behind the talent video layer. When I export directly from Premiere, the sequence exports as expected. However, I have many sequences, and wish to speed up the  process using Adobe Media Encoder. When I export the same sequence using Adobe Media Encoder, the top half of the "talent layer" is completly cut off:
The issue has something to do with the Ultra key effect because when I remove the effect from the "talent layer" it exports in tact (with a chroma key background of course). Adobe Media Encoder CC is up to date as well; are there any known bugs with Media Encoder CC and the Ultra Key effect in Premiere Pro?
    Thanks!

  • Data and Information Menu Fields Cut Off (Photoshop CC)

Since I've updated to Photoshop CC, something has changed in the way the information and data fields display in menus and windows to where I can't see them fully or can't see what I'm entering into them. See the image below for reference.
This is happening to Photoshop CC (both standard and 64-bit version) and somehow has applied this to my CS6 versions of Photoshop. I've updated my other programs to CC (Illustration and InDesign) and don't have this issue. They are working fine.
I've done the following to correct the issue, but have not been able to resolve the issue:
    - shut down and restart computer
    - change image resolution for my monitor
My last resort will be to uninstall/reinstall the Photoshop CC app, but was checking to see if anyone knew what is causing this.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Do you have some other kind of theme or program (window blinds for instance) that modifies windows
or perhaps an third party desktop manager?
    Is that windows 7?

  • Text is cut off or disappear in large images

    Issue
Text is cut off or does not appear on a type layer in large images (e.g.,
400 MB) in Adobe Photoshop 5.x>.
    Solutions:
    Do one of the following:
    Solution 1
Change anti-aliasing in the type layer:
    1 Double-click the type layer.
    2. In Photoshop 5.5>, select None, Crisp, or Strong from the Anti-Alias
pop-up menu in the Type Tool dialog box. In Photoshop 5.0.2, deselect
Anti-Aliased in the Type Tool dialog box.
    3. Click OK.
    Solution 2
Move the type layer, open the Type Tool dialog box, click OK, and then move
    the layer back:
    1. Select the move tool.
    2. Move the type layer to the left until all the text is off the image.
    3. Double-click the type layer.
    4. Click OK in the Type Tool dialog box.
    5. Move the type layer back with the move tool. Do not move it back using
    the History palette.
    Solution 3
Create the text using the type mask tool and fill the selection:
    1. Select the type mask tool and click in your image.
    2. Enter your text in the Type Tool dialog box. Click OK.
    3. Move the type selection to the desired location. If you can see part of
the text on the existing type layer, you can use it as a guide to position
    the type selection.
    4. Select the layer on which you want the text to appear.
    5. Select a foreground color for the type.
    6. Choose Edit > Fill.
    7. Chose Select > Deselect.
    8. Remove the original type layer.
    Solution 4
Create the text in Photoshop 5.0 or earlier, or in another application.
Then, import the text into Photoshop 5.x and remove the original type layer.
    Additional Information
The type tool cannot create anti-aliased text larger than 8192 pixels on the
image canvas in Photoshop 5.x, although it can in earlier versions. The type
mask tool, however, can create selections that exceed this limit. You can
fill type mask selections to create pixels in the shape of type, but these
pixels are not editable in the Type Tool dialog box and do not appear on a
    new Type layer.

  • MPEG2-DVD / Sound cut off *urgent*

    Hi everyone
I have a very urgent problem which makes me lose my hair...
We have 190 minutes of 1920x1080 25p footage which we edited in Premiere Pro.
I then proceed to export the files into MPEG2-DVD using 2-pass VBR with 1,65/4,2/6.25 bitrate (according to an online bitrate calculator).
I multiplex the sound into the MPEG-2 file.
When I import the timeline into Encore, it correctly tells me "do not transcode".
BUT the sound cuts off short of the video. It does it for every chapter. I cannot 'extend' or 'pull' the sound to the length of the video.
First chapter is 24:19, sound cuts off at 23:15.
Anyone got an ìdea what I am doing wrong?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Michael

I'm in complete agreement with Jeff here as well - selling PAL discs in the US will sooner or later cause problems.
    Priobably sooner.
In the old days you would not get the player to even load them - it would throw a "no disc" or another error of some description - and even when you did find the odd rare one that would load them, the TV systems would make sure you got a garbled image, or a B&W one. These days a good Universal Player will usually load all types (although again a regular DVD player will most likey still not go for it) but you will still have TV system issues.
The problem is the mains frequency - PAL (Europe) uses 625 lines and 50Hz whereas NTSC uses 525/60, which effectively means PAL runs at 25 frames/second & NTSC at 30 frames/second. The 2 are incompatible. Most PAL players can handle both formats either by outputting NTSC discs as PAL-60 or even genuine "on the fly" conversions to 525/60 NTSC.  The process is not straightforward either - the player is handling scaling, temporal conversion and object motion analysis all at once (Hence why most PAL setups output NTSC as PAL-60 instead of pure 525/60 NTSC) and additionally the audio speed must be adjusted (remember DVD is a multiplexed set of VOB files, not separate streams) to conform to the different display rate - which may also prevent the use of a digital connection!
This type of conversion is much, much less compatible the other way around. Most NTSC players still cannot play PAL discs (although as I have said a Universal BluRay player may do this) and only a very small number can convert 625/50 PAL to 525/60 NTSC.
Let us now talk about MPEG audio & why it is not recommended to use it. This gets complex.....
MPEG audio is a multichannel format using perceptual encoding at 16-bit 48KHz. MPEG-1 Layer II and MPEG-2 BC (backwards compatible) are the only allowed forms and the MPEG-2 that is allowed - BC - is a matrixed format, not discrete, in surround use. Use of this type (MPEG audio) was only ever optional in NTSC, never mandatory (so that is one big problem) and the other big problem is that MPEG-2 audio is only allowed in BC mode. Why is this evil? Take a seat & let me try to go through it.
Because MPEG-2 audio decoders were not available at the time of DVD introduction, MPEG-1 was the only decoder available so that was what got used. As a result, the only permissib;le type of MPEG-2 allowed is BC, which is a matrixed stream type (the 5 main channels are matrixed into Lt/Rt stereo streams) and then encoded in the normal MPEG-1 Layer II format for DVD. The advantage to this is that a multichannel stream can be phase matrix encoded so that it will also play on a stereo system. MPEG provides pre-determined matrixing formulas depending on the intended audience - one is a conventional stereo signal, another is designed to deliver a Dolby Surround compatible (*not* Dolby Digital - that is something very different) system that re-creates the centre channel fronm the left/right channels in addition to a single rear (or surround) channel (Nerdy Note - this is actually a development of the old SQ Quadraphonic matrixing system, set up for LCRS instead of L-R-Ls-Rs). Additional discrete channel information, plus the LFE channel, is encoded in an extension stream so that an MPEG-2 decoder (not MPEG-2 Audio) can recreate 6 separate signals. Because of the necessity to be backwards compatible with MPEG-1 decoders the centre & surround channels that are matrixed into the 2 MPEG-1 channels (left & right) are duplicated in the extension stream. This allows the MPEG-2 decoder to subtract those signals from the matrixed signals, leaving the original Left & Right channels. All this adds an overhead of approximately 32kbps, making it rather inefficient.. The original 2-channel MPEG-1 encoding process was not developed with matrixed audio in mind and therefore may actually remove surround detail. Also, the process tends to expose coding artefacts as well so coupled with the whole shebang only ever being optional in NTSC 525/60 systems means that to use this as your solitary stream type is actually out of spec for 525/60 regions & players may well take one look at the disc & output...................in short, just a picture. And if that picture is 625/50 PAL, quite possibly not that either.
    Audio support in DVD.
MPEG-2 audio is basically not supported except in BC moide, which hands everything over to MPEG-1 decoders. This is not good. It is not efficient, it can be riddled with artefacts & it is not supported by fiat in NTSC regions, only optionally. If it is your sole stream you will run into trouble sooner or later.
I hope this helps, and I think I will go away & write a little article about this as it keeps cropping up every so often..

  • What size should my movies be to not get cut off?

I am making a tutorial DVD. I used Snapz Pro to record a bunch of screen capture movies and then edited them together in FCP and exported them as 1024x768 animation movies and they look great. Now I want to burn them to DVD. When I take them as they are and put them on a DVD the top and bottom of the screen get cut off. Can I just resize the movies in QT pro to a different size so they won't cut off? If so what size? Is there a better way?

    Scott,
A mix of this QuickTime Pro: How to Make Picture-in-Picture at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42633 and the following procedure I put together a couple of years ago to use the small movies produced by still digital cameras in iMovie/iDVD:
    1. Create a 640 x 480 black mask with a slightly lighter black 320 x 240 center in Photoshop. Save it as a JPG file.
    2. Open your DiMage X movie in QuickTime Pro. Open the saved mask in another QuickTime Pro player (at 15 fps).
    3. Select the mask clip and edit->select all and then edit->copy
    4. Select the DiMage X clip and then edit -> add scaled the mask
    5. Next, select movie -> get movie properties
    6. Select video 2 on the left box and layers on the right box. Set the layers to 1 (that moves the mask to the back).
    7. Select video one on the left box and size on the right box. Click on adjust. Red hack marks appear around the video. Click on the picture (not the mark) and center the video on the lightened 320 x 240 box.
    8. The video may not completely cover the lighter box, but the hack marks should line up. When you view the movie, if you used a "slightly lighter" black for the center area, you won't a notice a lighter area when played in iDVD.
    9. Export it as a DV stream. Bring it into iDVD.
will give you an idea on how to proceed. Obviously, you will need to come up with your own mask and cut-out size - 640x480 ISN'T what YOU want.

  • Credit Scroll - Title Effect - Cannot Adjust Border - Text Cut Off

    QUESTION:
How can I insert 2 - 3 paragraphs into the credit scroll text effect, format it so the sides of it are not cut off, and prevent Final Cut Pro from reverting back to the default text that comes with the video effect?
    SUMMARY:
I am trying, in vain, to copy and paste 2 - 3 paragraphs that I want to scroll across the page as if they were credits. Furthemore, I am trying to justify the whole thing to the left. The left and right edges of the paragraphs are cut off when I render the video using compressor. There is some kind of white box that holds the text. It appears to be the boundary of the text effect. The text bumps up against the boundary, but I cannot easily tell the text to give itself some space between it and the white boundary. If I double click the text effect I bring up a few difficult-to-use formatting tools. There are little white circles and triangles that appear to represent left tab, center tab, and right tab. Everything I do with these circles and triangles seems to have no impact or screws it up. To further complicate matters it seems when anytime I interact with this rudimentary formatting tool set I cause the entire text effect to default to its original form. I have to quit out of Final Cut Pro and reopen it and repeat the process by repasting the text.

I gave up and just made an image in photoshop. I then keyframed the image to scroll across as the credit scroll effect should have done.

  • Photo subject cut off in Apple TV

I use Adobe Photoshop to manage my photos before having them sync'd to Apple TV. In many cases the subject of the photo is cut off (heads, etc) when i display them via Apple TV. Yet in screen saver mode they display just fine.
Would this having anything to do with cropping photos in Photoshop and changing their size ?
Thanks in advance for any advise ?

I'm a PC user. After my photos are processed in Adope Photoshop they are automatically uploaded via ITunes to my Apple TV. The photos are fine in Photoshop and in Apple TV screen saver, but many have heads cut off when I view photos in Apple TV.Sorry! Should have paid more attention. Certainly blows off my original thoughts. To what aspect ratio are you cropping? May I assume you the Burn's Effects turned off? From looking at my 2:3 files, it appears TV display portrait orientation with height "scaled to fit" with "keep aspect ratio" on. Landscape photos also appear to do the same so width exceeds the width of the screen. So I'm not getting any "half head" displays. On the other hand, someone else was complaining that files were sometimes rotated incorrectly possibly based on info embedded in the file by the original camera. Am now wondering if any of these photos were rotated in Photoshop and TV is scaling incorrectly based on embedded info rather than physical orientation as modified in Photoshop. Could you check on this?

  • Brushes get cut off at edges

Is there any way to avoid having a brush be cut off by the document edge when you place it? It's annoying when you want to move it that it's been cut off. I know one way is to place it in the center when you stamp it, and then move it - but that doesn't help if the brush is larger than the document. Only other thought I had would be to stamp into a larger document and then move to the smaller document - but if I do that, I may as well just work with .png files.
Just thought I'd ask in case there is a way to handle this that I don't know about. Thanks!

but if I do that, I may as well just work with .png files.
    Say what?
What has all this to do with png-files specifically?
As I understand it a blank Layer assumes the dimensions of the document. So if you paint beyond those dimensions you paint on nothing and color doesn’t stick on nothing, so to speak.
If you force the Layer to be bigger (for example by creating a 1px frame or even just pixels on diametrally opposing corners and then transforming that Layer to 200%) you can paint up to the Layer’s extremes in the affected dimensions.

  • Acrobat Cuts Off Bottom Of pdf When Printing

I'm trying to create a printable form for a web page. I originally created the form in Photoshop 7, then used Acrobat 7 Pro to convert it to a pdf for downloading/printing. The problem is that Acrobat cuts off the bottom of the page when you attempt to print it. Here is a screen shot of the print dialog window. The "grayed out" area indicates the parts being cut off. The main problem is the bottom margin.  I've tried cropping margins in Document > Crop Pages, but that seems to have no effect. Changing the dimensions in Photoshop and then re-creating the pdf has no effect, either. How can I fix the formatting so it will print correctly?
    -Tnx

Do you mean Page Scaling select in the Print dialog box, ie; "Fit to Printer Margins"?

  • FCP7 cutting off the end of my projects... is there a workaround?

Really stumped on this one and thanks in advance for taking the time to read this.  My issue is that I have a 1 minute 50 project I am exporting.  Nothing fancy, just a few cuts with a bit of music.  For reasons I do not understand, FCP 7.03 exports it minus the last 10 seconds!  I am exporting in HQ 422 (30 fps) as a self-contained project as I need to pass it over to a few other people.  Worse still is I have noticed it has done this now with another project and I am investigating that as well.  It is approximately the last 10 seconds on the other project.
I have tried resetting the I/O points, deleting the re-render files, re-rendering, adding lots of space after the last 'O' point, selecting everything etc... but have no solution.
Other than having FCP 7.03, I have a MacBook Pro with a copious amount of memory etc..., store the data (and metadata) on an external hard drive and have quite a fair amount of experience with FCP 7.03, a little with Avid, Motion etc...
Thanks again for having a look at this and if you have any ideas, this would be tremendous.
    What solution would you offer?

Does it always cut off the same length, like 38 seconds, is it a percentage thing, like it always cuts off 6.4%, or is it random?

  • Please Help...My photos are cut off in my slideshow

    Hello,
I am making a slideshow using IMovie. I am using photos from IPhoto. When I drag them to the strip and then play my show, many of the photos are cut off. You can't see the whole photo. Example, my daughter is on a balance beam and you can only see her legs and the beam. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Do I need to adjust all of my photo sizes? (Hope not, this slideshow has hundreds of pictures) Do I need to adjust something with the slideshow?
Thank you in advance for you help.

Is there a way to do that for all the pictures at once?
You can either set the Project Preference to automatically use the "Fit" option when new images are added to a project. However, to change the rest of the images already added, you would have to select the image you already corrected, press Command-C to copy the information to temporary memory, select all other images, and then use the "Paste Adjustments > Crop" Edit menu setting to copy the current "Crop" setting to all selected images at once.
    BTW-what is Kens Burns?
It adds a "motion" effect to still images. I.e., you can select a start and stop scaled/position view and the application will interpolate "in between frames" to create the motion effect.

  • Pictures in slideshow and thumbnails are cut off

    Hi!
I love that it's so easy to create a slideshow.
But I don't see a customizable option to not have my slideshow "fit to designated space".
I don't mind the thumbnails getting cut off (better than being resized a weird resolution) but when viewed in the slideshow, some of the people in the photos get cut off.
Is there a way to resolve this (rather than putting them all in photoshop and resize smaller so there's a border)?
Thanks every so much! This is my first time using Adobe Muse, so bear with me.

Trying using 'Fit Content Proportionally' in the New Hero field in Slideshow Options. Hope that helps.
    Cheers,
