Motion External Audio Problems

I recently had a major crash of Motion 2. It wiped out my preferences so I had to re-do all of those. My problem is it is only playing my audio through the internal computer speaker. Where is the setting to use my external speakers?

Similar problem here,
I have two thunderbold display chaned, and when i use Multi-Output or Agreggate Devie a get scrambled audio results after some minutes of good playing.
Can't get any fix

  • Serious Motion 5 audio problem

I add a clip with clean (waveform examined) audio into Motion 5, process it through "Analyze Motion". On playback, there is an unholy audio blast through the speakers when the playhead passes each of the first two keyframes. If I export the clip, the sound artifacts are quieter but still there. Examining the audio in the output clip, the waveform becomes a solid bar that goes off the top of the scale where the problems are.
That was on my Mac Pro. I replicated the procedure on my iMac with exactly the same results.
Both machines are on separate UPSs on separate electrical circuits and both run OS X 10.6.8.
    Mac Pro 6-core 3.33-12Gb, iMac 24" 3.06 Core Duo 8Gb, MacBook Pro 13" 2.7 Core i7 8Gb

The clip is a DV clip of an an egret flying. I had applied Analyze Motion from the Motion Tracker folder and manually entered a number of keyframes. I can't recall what other actions I took, if any, because I was just playing around trying to learn the program. I thought that if I went back to the autosave versions of the motn file, I might be able to figure it out, so I reloaded one and it reproduced the problem as before.
I then moved the motn file from the Autosave folder into a "Motion Problem" folder while assembling all the relevant elements for submission (to?). When I reload this file back into Motion from there, the problem is gone. Nor does it reappear when I put the motn file back into autosave and run it from there.Very bizarre!
I have made a jpeg of a comparison of the audio waveforms of the original clip and the problem output clearly showing the nasty artifacts but don't know where to send it.
Until I reproduced the situation from scratch (short term memory okay) on my iMac, I thought the problem might be related to the random audio popping I'm getting on my Mac Pro. I suppose I had best just keep my speaker volume low and hope that it doesn't happen again.

  • External Audio Sync Problem

I have video captured at 23.98 fps and I'm trying to match up external audio to the source audio on the clip. The external audio is a 48kbps wav file. When I match the beginning of the clip, the end goes way out of sync. If I try to alter the speed and get the end to match, the middle is still out of sync. I don't have this problem with video captured at 29.97 fps. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Tom, I'm having the same problem. Start with an AVI 30fps clip. Export to DV standard everything at 29.97. All works well. Then match up some sound taken at 48k on a very reliable, stable set of tools - used them before with straight DV from a Canon DVX 100A with zero syncing problems - and the movie and it's sound come up too short by a second or so over fifteen minutes. We should not be having this problem. Did you ever get it solved? Im on FCP version 6.
    Thanks.

  • Weird audio problems with Motion when exporting quicktime videos

I have a Motion project with 2 video clips of people talking. When I create a RAM preview everything plays back fine. When I export a quicktime, the first second or so of each video clip (within the quicktime) have no audio. I've adjusted the in and out of each clip in Motion but I don't think that would make the audio disappear on export. Thinking it was just a bad export, I tried just exporting the audio and the same thing happens.
    Here's what i'm using:
    Mac Pro dual 3.0 Xeon
    10 gigs of RAM
    Motion 2.1.2

    hi,
motion 2 had some odd audio problems that surfaced now and then. The only way round it was to bring the clip into FCP and edit the audio in there, and then export from fcp.
Motion 3 might have fixed this. Not sure havent had the problem for some time, since I make sure all finnishing is done in FCP.
    hope this helps

  • Beats audio android app external sound problem.

    Hey guys,
Recently i downloaded the Beats Audio Android app for my Optimus 2. At first it worked fine, the external sound was good, as well as the headphone output. Very shortly after the external sound became very fuzzy and loud, with the headphone output still working perfectly. The only feature that would play sound without fuzz was speakerphone while in a call. I decided to factory default my phone thinking it would fix the problem, i was already going to do it anyway. Come to find out everything got wiped including beats audio, but the same old external sound problems persisted. I'm not sure how to fix it and it is very annoying and sometimes randomly goes off. Help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
    -Tyler
Maybe it has something to do with the master volume? Although i'm not sure how to access that either..

    Hello,
I see that you are having trouble with the beats audio app on your phone. I would suggest that you post your issue here as well for assistance. The link will take you to the android forum for your phone.

  • FCPX audio problems

I have a lot of audio problems with some clips imported into FCPX.
I have a real normal clip in most cases, with audio that plays regularly, 100% audio on any media player.
But when I import it to FCPX, it has those waveforms that indicate that there is audio in the clip, but when I play the clip in FCPX, it starts off great, but in the middle, the audio just cuts, and I have a video where there is no audio where the audio is supposed to be.
Any solutions? I don't think it's the video's fault, nor my computer's problem. Mabye it's the external hard drive that's causing these problems, as I'm using a external hard drive to make these videos.
The video I made that didn't have audio in the middle was made in Motion.

    Thank you SO MUCH!!
That worked perfectly, and my intro video is working again with perfect audio!
    Thanks again!

  • No Audio Out Of Headphone Or External Audio Output Jacks

We have a Rev. B Bondi iMac that I recently put in my wife's 4th grade classroom for her to use. When trying to hook up external speakers I discovered there is no audio output from the side audio output jack or the front two headphone jacks when listening to the CD player. (I also checked using headphones)
The internal speakers sound fine and normal. I do hear something very distorted and weak from the external audio output jacks but it is so distorted the only way I can tell it is coming from the CD player is by pausing its playing. I have been into OS X now for about 15 months and am starting to forget everything I knew of OS 8.6 which is in the Bondi.
I checked the sound portion of the Monitors and Sound Control panel and all seems set correctly. Is there some other setting that I have forgotten? Any ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    TIA

    Herb Mesler...
Other than exercising the jack-ports with a plug from a headphone, it may need some expensive repair. However I do have a trick for you to try first.
    Here is my trick;
Computer must be off! Because there is some light voltage applied to the ports they can slightly arch, spoiling the trick. Arching is the root cause of electrical resistance thus not allowing for proper contact and sound will not pass through to the device.
Next take a plug "softly and full travel" through each port in the side and on the front. I repeat them about 5 times. (any proper spec/type of plug, like from a headphone can work. If it from something that is powered, like from speakers, do not use it)
Boot up the computer and test by avoiding the side ports, using only the front ports. Quite frankly I found the use of the side ports to be somewhat the cause of the problem. Mine has been taped off for about 6 years now and I never have had to repeat my trick to date.
Give it a try and post back if there is any questions. Also, I would like to hear your results.

  • Photo Booth Audio Problem

    Hi all,
    am currently running lion 10.7.5
i have an assignment to submit with video and audio recording.
It has always worked fine recording video and audio but this time photo booth just stopped working.
Usually i have logic pro and photo booth running at the same time, photo booth for the video, logic to record the audio, then i put them together later.
However now photo booth is unable to record videos.
Taking photos is still possible, the green light is still there.
But clicking record video the timer will stay put at 00:00:00
After i stopped the recording it's a black video of 0 seconds.
I'm using a external audio interface.
I would like to mention again that it has always worked fine.
i checked the audio settings, the audio midi settings, all are fine.
when i switched audio input and output to internal mic and default output,
    recording videos worked again.
however my logic is unable to produce any output at all.
i cannot run these two simultaneously anymore.
even if logic input and output is set to my audio interface and photo booth set to default output, it still doesn't work.

I even restarted the laptop many times.
I reset the SMC and the PRAM but to no avail.
I cleared photobooth's plist and it still does not work.
i'm sure it's not my external audio interface problem as there was no driver update prior to this problem

  • Firewire audio problems with OS X 10.5.6

    Hello,
I’m experiencing audio problems with Firewire 400 on my Macbook running Mac OSX 10.5.6.
I’ve got a 2.4Ghz IntelCore 2 Duo with 4 GB RAM and 59 GB available on the internal HD.
It’s hooked up to a brand new Mackie D.4 mixer with 2 Firewire outputs. The problems occur on both Firewire outputs.
I’ve installed automatically from the software update (which I will never do again) to 10.5.6. I never tried the D.4 with 10.5.5 so I can’t tell if the problems occur there also.
The main problem is that after a couple of minutes of recording the sound starts to break up and get really distorted. After a while the sound comes back again.
The second problem is that Soundtrack Pro or Audacity don’t get any audio input from the D.4, although audio input is clearly visible in System Preferences – Sound.
The only sound program that works with all 14 Firewire channels is Ableton, but also in Ableton the distortion occurs.
An example of the distortion can be checked here:
    http://media.kaalslag.com/firewire-distortion-problem-mackieD4+Macbook.mp3
I’ve roamed several forums and sites to solve the problem and I tried these solutions:
I updated again to 10.5.6. with the full combo download from the Apple site. Restarted. Problem still there.
I shut Airport off, because lots of sites mentioned problems with Airport conflicting with audio/firewire. Didn’t work.
I did the work around with shutting the Macbook off, disconnecting the D.4, restarting the Macbook, opening Audio/Midi Setup, connecting the D.4 again, toggling the format frequencies a couple of times. Again, no use.
Right now I’m using my “old” Macbook again to record from vinyl. This one is still running on OSX 10.4.11. No problems so far.
I’ve had the distortion problems occuring before with an USB interface. Hoped that the Mackie Firewire would solve the problem, but it seems now that there’s a serious audio Firewire problem which is still not solved in OSX 10.5.
Any help, tips and/or a work around would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You could try using another computer in Target Disk mode (as an "external HD"), or you can connect the firewire cable and disconnect all other network cables (turning off airport). Then on each computer go to the "Network" system preferences and select "Built-in Firewire" from the list of ports and choose "Manually" from the drop-down menu next to "Configure". Enter the following IP addresses and subnet masks, apply the changes.
    _Computer 1_
    IP Address: 192.168.1.1
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    _Computer 2_
    IP Address: 192.168.1.2
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
After those ip addresses are entered and you've clicked "Apply", ensure that for both computers you have file sharing enabled (done in the "Sharing" system preferences), and then check the Finder sidebar to see if the computers can see each other (their names should appear under "Shared" in the sidebar--if not, try restarting).
If the computers dont appear (even after restarting), using the "Connect To" option that's available in the Finder's "Go" menu. In there, to connect to another computer enter it's IP address as follows:
    afp://IP_ADDRESS
If you're on the computer with the ip address of 192.168.1.1, you would enter 192.168.1.2 as "IP_ADDRESS". The "afp" is the protocol (just like "http" for web), and stands for "Apple Filing Protocol"...Apple's file sharing protocol.

  • Connecting external audio interfaces?! Issues, help needed!

Ok well basically i'v always used a pc to do music using cubase and a variety of hardware including a steinberg mi4 external audio interface connected via usb. Now on my pc which is actually less powerful than my new macbook (the 2.2ghz model) the interface works with out fault no latency, no distortion.
However once used on my new shiny macbook, for which i'v purchased logic pro as opposed to cubase (felt like a change) when trying to use my interface via usb on the mac through logic i seem to have issues with recording and all sound comes through distorted with a great deal of latency. I'v tried altering the sample depth and the bit rate and nothing seems to work?
I have downloaded mac specific drivers for the hardware so i'm sure its not a driver issue?
Anyone with any suggestion, cos i'm a bit gutted really?
P.s. Does anyone know if you can change the graphics card in a macbook?
    Ben

Hi, im having the same issue, using garageband and logic pro. I used pc to make music with no problems at all with my Zoom g9.2tt guitar fx usb interface.
Now with mac i get distorted and lots of latency.
One way i found that can make this work with garageband is use the internal sound card to play sounds and the usb interface to record this helps a lot. This trick makes it for garageband but not for logic pro(still getting distortion/latency).
By the way i used to have an emachines laptop with 512 ram memory and a 1,6ghz semprom processor, believe or not, easier to record on that one, with no latency and no distortion.

  • No external audio

On my MacBook Pro 2.16Ghz Intel Core Duo: The internal speakers and headphones produce sound when expected and test OK. External speakers connected through either USB port or through the video port (in the case of a projector) no longer produce audio. The programs that I know are involved are iTunes, QT and iDVD but I suspect that any program producing audio will have the same problem. The problem started some months ago, but I cannot tie it to a specific event.
External USB speakers show up and are selectable in System Preferences/Sound, but selecting them only kills the internal speakers. Balance and volume controls have no effect. I've restarted applications and the laptop, restarted in simple troubleshooting mode to rule out some sort of program conflict, and reset the PRAM. No effects.
    Any suggestions?

No 2.16GHz MBP sends audio out through its dual-link DVI video-out port. The DVI protocol doesn't include any provision for carrying audio. To send audio to your projector, you'll have to run a separate audio cable from your headphone port (or possibly from a USB port, if the projector is equipped for USB audio input).
As for your USB audio problem, do your USB ports work with other (non-audio) devices? If not, you might try resetting the SMC and see whether that reactivates the USB ports. If they do work, I don't know what to suggest.

  • T61 - Bluetooth audio problem

    My computer: Lenovo T61.
    System: Windows 7 64b.
    Bluetooth device manufacturer: Broadcom.
I have severe problem with my bluetooth internal device. I wanted to connect my computer with external audio device (bluetooth speakers) and I found that my computer can connect to the device, but it's discovered as unknown bluetooth device.
I tried installing various drivers versions, but it didn't help. I also noticed that in the device manager there are 3 various entries of 'unknown external bluetooth devices', which I believe that belong to the internal bluetooth device, but somehow they weren't installed. I tried various ways of manual installing the drivers of these 3 devices (I guess one of them is responsible for bluetooth audio), but I didn't succeed.
I would be extremely grateful for help. I really don't know what to do more...

    Anyone?

  • Sept 2014 is external audio I/O STILL crashing w/ Flash?

So ever since 'updating' to Mavericks, like many 1000's of people I'm still getting regular semi-random, hard, force-shutdown freezes when using an external audio interface at the same time as Firefox, Safari.....basically any browser. I'm a professional, I have clients, I have private work, it's simply a HUGE pain in the backside. Occasionally a browser will be left on in the background and just kick in and grind everything to a halt or I simply have no choice but to work in a browser for a transcription project. Trying to force quit various processes always seems to point to something Flash related.
I've searched and searched and found suggestions of various workarounds but nothing that really works for me.  My system is lean and I'm using latest versions of everything alongside top-flight audio hardware from various makers with excellent drivers.
This has been going on for nearly a year and unless I've missed some kind of solid workround is just....appalling.

'Unabated' generally meant I was using it and had to leave it briefly or had been using and would return soon. I was under the impression that Flash was required for Youtube etc. Until Mavericks this problem hadn't existed....anyway, though I don' really use Safari due to needing certain Firefox add-ons I had a look at your suggestions then went hunting again in Ffox add-ons and added Flashblock which so far....fingers very crossed, after a few hours of normal use, trying sleeping the Mac and also restarting seeeems (tentative with fingers very crossed) to have prevented any problems.
So, many thanks whatever happens and fingers crossed it sticks.

  • Buzzing in external audio when charging

I have a fairly loud buzzing sound coming through my external audio when my MBP (mid 2010) is charging. I've tried switching speakers and headphones, outlets, between the two and three pronged chargers, and between individual chargers themselves. Nothing I'vetried has fixed it.  The only thing that helps is my own physical contact with my MBP.
    Anyone have any ideas?

It sounds like some problem with grounding your laptop. Sometimes peripherals will create a hissing sound when they don't have the same ground potential. Maybe try getting a new adapter cord, as the ground prong (The big round one if you're in the US) may be broken. If you go to an Apple store and be extra nice, they may give you a new cord for free, and save you 60 bucks.
