Motion files render as black screen in FCP

I have a Motion file I want to put into a FCP sequence. When I drag the file in, the render preview looks fine, but when I actually render it, it comes out as a black screen. This problem extends to exporting the sequence too. If I export from Motion and drag the movie file into Final Cut, it looks fine, but this is extremely tiresome as I'm frequently updating the Motion file. Can someone help?

Did you have Motion set to output as Animation codec with Millions of Colors+ ?
You may have inadvertantly included a full screen alpha channel, which would produce this effect.
Go back to Motion and change the output file to Millions of Colors only (without the +).

If you're creating video content in Acrobat 8 then it's "legacy media", which has a different structure to the Rich Media Annotations created by Acrobat 9 and later. RMAs use Flash Player and there are inbuilt choices for the play control buttons when you create a new annotation, but legacy media hands over control of the video rendering to whatever external application it can find installed on your computer, so what you see will vary.
The poster frame for a video can be controlled when the annotation is created - either sampled from the video or selected manually from an image file.

Flash 10,1,102,64 causes captivate files to display black screen

I noticed when we upgraded our computers to flash 10,1,102,64 it broke ALL of our captivate files. I called adobe tech support and they were worthless.. it doesn't seem to happen with the previous version of flash. When the Captivate lesson starts, it simply cuts right to a black screen... fortunately I figured out the solution.. so I'm sharing the knowledge.
The problem appears to be with ANY animated slide with animated text. The only solution I found was to remove animtated text and replace it with a static gif or jpg. Hopefully, the info is useful to any other frustrated users

So how does it work then for people who downgraded to the previous version of Flash? Should we still install the new .dll? Will the next Flash Player have this fixed in it? Just curious what you would recommend for the scenario where the current player isn't installed.

Today Photoshop opens my jpeg files as a black screen. What is going on?

Today for the first time, photoshop opens all my jpeg photos as a black screen. Does anyone know what is going on?

PDF files open as black screen in Safari

Since running Mavericks, PDF files do not display in Safari. I get a black screen when trying to view PDF. They do work fine using Chrome. Any suggestions?

Adobe Reader installed? If so remove Reader.
Macintosh HD > Library > Internet Plug-ins
Look for these two files.
AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
AdobePDFViewer.plugin
Right click those and select “Move To Trash”.

Render problems black screen

Hello,
I made a project in AE CS6. (I didn't use any soundeffects or music) When I tried to render and saved the project to quicktime the program said worked. When I tried to open the movie in quicktime afterwards it played but the screen remained black. I went back to After Effects to see if the project still worked there and it did. I tried to render and save multiple times but I get the same problem.
I have used Element 3D for my project.
Long story short, Does anyone know how to make sure that the movie is visible ones it's rendered? Have I forgotten something important?

Without exact render settings and system info nobody can say much. If Element 3D is involved this could well be the plug-in failing on final render, but that would depend on your system configuration, which you haven't told us anything about, either...

This seems to be activation issue,
Please sign out from Creative cloud desktop app and Quit it.
quit all the Adobe applications
Assuming you're on Windows machine
Go to the following location and rename Adobe folder to old.Adobe
C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming
C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local
Then try to launch Creative Cloud Desktop app and Sign in with your Adobe ID and Password.
and Launch Premiere pro, hope that helps.

Black screen between every clip that does not appear on timeline, only on MOV file

I have now fixed the letterboxing issue but now have this problem (I did not have this issue before) where I get a very short black screen between each clip I put on the timeline. The black screen does not show up on the timeline, it only appears once I create the file. I'm not sure if this is affected but the fact I have an external hard drive. All my footage is stored on the hard drive and i save my Final Cut Pro file on the hard drive then upload it to YouTube. I made 2 quick short MOV files to test this theory (one made from footage on my EHD and the other from footage from my desk top) neither files had the black screen in the MOV files.

Hello Nick, thanks for the answer.
I have fully lengthened my timeline and the black gaps are not there to delete (they only appear once the file has been exported).
The issue I have (I think) is that im not sure what export settings I am meant to choose to export the footage.
My camera records in widescreen so when I place my footage onto the time line and final cut pro automatically selects the correct settings for me, this is what is chooses
This is then the export settings that are automatically in the box when I go to export
As my footage is 1920 x 1080 I would expect to be given an option with that in but these are the only options available
I am not sure if this should create the black spaces between each shot.

Opening large photo files produces black screen

When opening a small (less than a meg) photo, it works find. I'm able to move to the next file. If I open a large file (8-10 megs) it sometimes works fine however if I use the arrow to move to the next file in the folder I get a black screen. Also if I have a folder of many large photo files I can see all the thumbnail photos at a small size. If I try to increase the view size to large some will be black, however if I click on the file many times it opens fine, sometimes not. It was working fine, just recently started to act up. Using adobe photoshop I can open each file so I know they are there and not corrupt files.

I have read your post on how opening large photo files produces a black screen on your desktop computer. I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
If you boot your system into Safe Mode, are you able to open large photographs? Is this a recent or a reoccurring issue?
In the meantime, I recommend following the steps in this document on Computer Locks Up or Freezes (Windows 8). This should help prevent your system from defaulting to a black screen.
I would also encourage you to post your product number for your computer. Below is a is an HP Support document that will demonstrate how to find your computer's product number.

TS1718 itunes 12.0.1.26 not playing downloaded movies black screen Windows 7

I am using iTunes for windows and the recently bought 2 movies, the trailer worked fine , but after download the itunes is not playing the VDO files, its simple black screen. Can someone please help?
No wonder why I dont use Apple. they dont even give support without owning an apple product how cruel is that!

Sorry, unfortunately I can't get it to work now! (Maybe I hadn't gotten it to work before.) If I click a podcast subscription icon, then the little gear "Tools" icon, there's text that says: "When new episodes are available they will be marked as unplayed." So even if I mark a non-downloaded episode as played, the auto-delete when played option doesn't seem to work. If I do mark the episode as "Played" then use my "Delete" key, the message pops up: "Podcast episodes can't be deleted from the feed." So that seems to settle that.

Sent my project to motion, did motion stuff, saved. Now back 2 FCP -how?

The title says it. I just need to get my motion work to show up in FCP and I'm done. I followed a tutorial from macprovideo.com but it's not working. How do I do it?

I'll have to go back and check some things. The thing I wanted to import was a bunch of animated titling that I did in motion independently of the FCP project. What I did was open FCP, send to Motion, in motion I copied the titling and fine tuned it to the video and then saved. When I toggled back to FCP none of it was there.
I finally imported the motion file but it over-wrote my FCP video track and all my processing/filters with it. I went back to motion and disabled the video track (sent from FCP to motion without processing for some reason) that I used to fine tune the titles, then imported that sans video version. This allowed me to save all my FCP video filters and such. However none of it was exactly how I expected it to work.
Was it the fact that I did all that titling in an independent project and then imported it into a new motion project that has caused my troubles?

Timeline freezes with motion files

FCP 7 timeline starts to freeze when scrubbing between motion files.
Please Advise

Scrubbing though unrendered Motion files in FCP is going to be a problem sooner or later. The same thing will happen in Motion if you try and move around to much. The GPU rendering won't keep up. It depends mostly what is in the Motion files (type, large layers will give the most trouble). Also do the setting of the Motion file match your sequence settings in FCP that would cause even more trouble if there unmatched.

Satellite L655 - black screen upon powering up

My L655 Satellite went black last night...now when i go to turn it on it goes through the motions but only a black screen appears after starting in safe mode.
Any suggestions?

How can you start the notebook in safe mode if the screen is blank?
Are you able to see something on the external monitor?
Usually you can switch to the external monitor using keys FN + F5.
But this is possible only if the windows has booted up.
Are you able to access BIOS pressing F2 immediately after the notebook has been powered up?

Bugs in FCP-Motion workflow/Render Files lost

Hi
There seems to be an issue with Motion files going off line in FCP 6 when a project is closed and then reopened.
In one sequence, the render bars were (wrongly) showing up as if the motion files were fully rendered. However, on playback they were clearly playing in 'unlimited' RT mode. When I copied and then re-opened the sequence, these files were then showing up as unlimited.
Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem when I use FCP's Smoothcam filter. I will render it all, save, close the project and the next time I open it those render files are gone. It wasn't consistent though. Sometimes they'd stick and other times they wouldn't. To work around it, once I rendered a shot with that filter I exported it as a self-contained QT movie,re-imported it and replaced the shot. Kind of a pain of a work-around, but a work-around nonetheless. (And I didn't have a duplicated sequence but was on-lining a film that was cut in FCP 4.5 - so maybe that was where my little bug arose!)
