Motion Inspector Not showing

I have been using motion and suddenly today when I opened it up my whole layout changed for no reason, I tried loading my saved layout but my library and inspector are missing. I have tried going through all the options within Preferences and windows tabs but the only thing that works is create locked inspector, which cuts it off in the middle at the bottom of the screen. After selecting the inspector through the window function It does not become checked? ***?!? any help or suggestions out there?

In addition I have used since the upgrade and there is also no com.apple.motion.plist in my preferences folder using motion 3.02

Gear icon and inspector not showing up?

When I rollover a selected clip the gear icon does not show up and I can't seem to pull up the inspector. This is only the second time I have used iMovie, however all the clips I have seen show that I should be able to pull these things up rather easily.
Any ideas?

The gear icon was introduced in the current version of iMovie (version 8) which came with iLife 09.
If you are running iMovie 08, it will not have the gear icon or the inspector, but some of the same functions are available by clicking icons on the middle toolbar. Other functions are new with iLife 09, and if you are watching tutorials for the current version, you may not have them.

Motion will not show alpha in my 4444 file, I'm frustrated by motion....

The thing is, it seems to work on my MBP, but when opening the same project on my big MacPro, with ATI 4870 CARD, the alpha will not work at all. I get an almost black background.
No matter how I try the settings for file, it will never show me transparency/alpha. But it does it in the small preview thumbnail, but not in my canvas.
So what is wrong with motion and my ATI Radeon 4870 card....

I found the bug....!!!!
My ProRes 4444 file only shows alpha/tranparency when canvas is set to best and NOT normal...!
When watching the alpha channel, all looks good in best mode, but when switching to normal, it all goes white....!

But what is strange, this happens on to MacPros and not on my MacBookPro....
This motion program is really frustrating..... please come with a new version soon!!!!

"photos" in Library Inspector not showing most images

I have about 21,000 images.
They show up fine in a smart album set to "show all".
They show up fine in smart albums set to various other criteria.
They also show up correctly in the projects.
I was working on re-key-wording some images and have a difficulty I haven't had before.
The problem is that when I select "photos" in the Library inspector, only about 900 images show up. The filter is set to show all. If I set the filter to other criteria, only a subset of the 900 shows up.
I have repaired permissions, repaired the database, and reset the user preferences.
Searching the forum with various keywords, I didn't find any relevant posts.

I had a similar problem with a new library which I created by Relocating Masters. I tried to clear the filter for the Photos folder using Frank's technique but nothing appeared. I then set a filter using Frank's basic technique and pictures meeting the filter parameters appeared. The moral...keep experimenting.

Safari 7 web inspector not showing

After insaling Safari 7 and updating to Mavericks afterwards, Web Inspector is "behaving" - initial window is gray backgound. Once I resize Web Inspector window it shows up properly, but unles resized it stays gray no matter the page, tab or window. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, that doesn't help me. Have deleted both /Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db and ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db, still gray background.

Property inspector not showing classes

Though the page is linked to a style sheet, and also has css in the head, when I try and find styles to apply to new text none appear either in the html or css subpanels. Classes only appear if I put the cursor in previously styled text.

I am baffled.

For legacy page read page in a frameset. It's reading the css fine if I open the page alone, but not within the frameset. Is this what's supposed to happen?

Motion Editor not showing Rotation X or Y for MovieClip symbol in CS4

I'm just now trying the Motion Editor for the first time in CS4 Professional. I've created a shape, converted it to a symbol, done an Insert Motion Tween, and brought up the Motion Editor. I'm looking for Rotation X and Rotation Y, but only see Rotation Z. My Publish Settings are Flash Player 10, ActionScript 3. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Select the keyframe containing your 3D rotation and then you should see them appear in the motion editor.

Motion 5 Template Publishing Not Showing Up in FCPX

I did a clean install of Lion 10.7.1 and a clean install of FCPX and Motion 5. For some reason, when I publish a template/generator/effect from Motion 5, it does not show up FCPX unless I restart FCPX. When I first started using both Motion 5 and FCPX, as soon as I switched back to FCPX, the published template was there.
I've repaired permissions, restarted the computer, etc. Why won't this work any more? Any ideas?

Mark Spencer answered this for me on another forum. This is a known Lion bug. Doesn't happen in Snow Leopard. Just an inconvenience, but hope it's fixed soon.

Why do some photos not show in inspector

Try closing the camera app and the photos app, reset your iPad and then launch the photos app again. You will not lose any data when you reset the iPad this way.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Canvas not showing in motion 5

Hi,
I have researched this issue on all the forums and Google but did not find a solution. My last resort is here and hopefully i get an answer. This is the first time i have encountered this problem with motion 5. I use motion 5 regulary on Mac OSX 10.8 on a Mac pro. I have a three monitor setup, two monitors are connected directly via DVI to HDMI to the mac, and one is connected via USB. I usually have the time pane and project pane on one monitor and Canvas on the other. Today without doing anything when i lauched motion 5, the canvas is not showing. This is very frustrating, the option "show canvas in second display" is also grayed out. After trying everything i knew ( quitting motion, restarting computer 5 times, trashing preference files, uninstall/reinstall motion, disconnecting monitors and using just one) i give up and came here. I am not sure what i am doing wrong, and this is the first time this is happening. I have the latest version installed and everything is up to date. Please help if anyone encountered this issue and fixed it. Thanks in advance for any help. I have a big project i need to finish.

This happen to me a few weeks ago and this is how I fixed it.
Try this... Make a new user account on your Mac. If the canvas shows in Motion using the new user account do this:
1) Go to the Finder Menu, Go...
2) Hold down the Option key...
3) Go... Library....
4) Application Support... Motion... Layouts... Modified... Delete Default.ModuleLayout and delete Motion.saved.moduleLayout files.
Restart Motion and see if that works for you.

Property inspector is not showing anything.....

i hav installed jdev in my computer but propert inspector is not showing up anything in the ide.......please help me out of this problem.

Did you reposition it to the bottom part of the IDE (instead of right, by default)? And make sure you select something that has properties (which you probably did). :)

Inspector not updating

Okay, heres an odd problem.
I'm working through the Motion tutorials that were included with the software. (the Dolphins project for anyone whos familiar with the lessons). I'm having a problem with the inspector not indicating that a behavoir has been applied to a text object (no cog icon next to the parameter) when a behavoir has clearly been applied. The applied behavoir is "text tracking", according to the tutorial the Tracking parameter in the Layout section of the Text tab of the Inspector should indicate a behavoir has been applied (cog icon) and the slider/value should update in real time to show the changing parameter values whilst playing the project. Not happening! I've created a new project with just text and applied the text tracking behavoir to it, same thing, the inspector tells me that a behavoir has been applied under the behavoirs tab but under the Text - Format section the tracking parameter is unchanged with no icon displayed. The inspector is unlocked.
Anyone know why this might be happening?

Hi Patrick.
The tracking of the text is certainly altering in the canvas (the gap between each character gets wider over time). The text object is selected correctly and the inspector tells me that I have a behavoir applied under the behavoirs tab, but the text tab/format pane shows no change in the tracking section. If I control click the tracking parameter in the inspector and choose "oscillate" for example then the slider comes to life and a cog icon appears next to the tracking section. The inspector seems to be reporting real time changes fine for other behavoirs but not for this Text Tracking one.

Where are you trying to access them? Make sure you are going to the Computers icon. Also make sure to check under Movies and Home Movies.
Make sure they are all compatible.

Calendar events not showing in ical

when i input an event or an invoice out of quickbooks as an all day event it puts the from: date later than the to: date. and does not show up in the calendar until i go in every time and change it to match or make the from date earlier than the to date.

This is a schema issue with QuickBooks, and you'll have to continue to update these items by hand until the issues is addressed by the Intuit programming team. I cannot believe that they are not already aware of it, but you should report it anyway.
On its face, it is ridiculous for them to create an event with an end point value which occurs prior to the start point value. All day events cannot end before they start! Actually, no event can end before it starts…
By definition, an all day event in iCal is one which starts on a particular date at 12:00:00 +0000 and ends at 12:00:00 +0000 on the next day. For example, an all day event on March 15, 2006 is represented in the truth [when pushed from iCal] as:

2006-07-16 12:00:00 +0000
NOTE: I didn't pick those representations and that's not the way I would have chosen to do it, but it is what the iCal programming team has done.
As a user, you don't see the time values, and the date representation in the inspector panel is shown [for the above example] as:

Again, an all day event cannot end before it starts. So the data provided by the Intuit application is invalid: in effect, the event they have defined does not exist.

Desktop Software 6.0 (PC) does not show OS 6 system software and core applications

I have installed DM 600_b047 on my PC (running WinXP w/ SP3). I have also installed both OS 6.0.0_rel862 and 5.0.0_rel1385 on the same PC. When I connect my Bold 9000 to the PC, DM shows everything that is installed on the device. However, when disconnect the Bold and I connect my Torch 9800, DM shows only the third-party apps installed on the device. DM does not show the System Software, Core Applications, Phone, etc. that are installed on the Torch.
On another PC (also WinXP w/ SP3), I have installed the same DM and OS software. DM on the latter PC shows all System Software, Core Apps, 3rd-party apps, etc. of both the Bold and Torch.
I would appreciate any suggestions how to get my other PC to show all BB software installed on the Torch. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the DM and OS software on the one PC. It did not resolve my issue.

Here's how I resolved my issue:
1. On the DM's Applications page, click the "Import files" button.
2. Drill down to the folder containing the .alx files of the BB OS. In my case, that would be "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9800M_v6.0.0.284_P6.4.0.120"
3. Select the alx files shown.in the files window..
4. Click the "Open" button of the dialog box.
5. Wait for DM to finish processing the selected files.
Voila! Now I see all the apps.
Maybe RIM's software and/or system engineers can explain how the DM software got into the condition where it apparently had not selected the .alx files.
