Motion menus stopped working

I used to be able to use motion menus, but my last 2 projects, I've been unable to use them. Instead of motion, I see gray screen (but the rest of the menu works, and the text is there). Does the same with the motion preview button (I'm using DSP 3) as with the actual DVD.
Is this a known issue? I have upgraded OS's (but i'm not sure when exactly this became a problem).

I have the same problem and have had no luck searching the net for a solution:(
Instead of motion, I get the gray screen (color of the video background in the preferences).
If I use the simulator, the counter indicates that the video is playing, but the video is masked behind the colored overlay. If I click on a menu button, the video for the motion menu plays for an instant before the button-linked clip begins playing... If I build and burn a disc, this does not happen - that is, the motion menu video does not play for an instant, when a menu button is pressed. Sure would like to resolve this.

  • Encore cs5 motion menus not working when build to flash

Hello my question is this, I have created a dvd in encore cs5. I have created motion menus in AE.
Everything works great when I build to DVD. However when I export to flash my animated menu is working but the buttons (play move, chapter select , extras) do not show up until the animation is complete. Is this a simple fix? or should I make the menus static?

Hmm... what version of the Flash Player are you testing with
(full version, including release number)? You can find out which
    version you're using here:

  • Motion menus not working after Leopard

I see that other people are having problems with motion menu templates after installing Leopard. I tried trashing my prefs and that didn't work. Has anyone else found a solution to the issue. Thanks!

What problem are other people having? My iSight also failed, but it's the strangest problem I've ever had with my Mac. It will turn on and stay on when it should, but the image is dark to start out with and fades to black.
Other people are mentioning systems not recognizing the camera at all. Is this the case across the board or is anyone experiencing what I mentioned here?

  • Motion background stopped working

    Hi,
I've created a DVD and have selected a menu from the library with a motion background ("Film" Menu from the Entertainment category).
When I first made this it was fine. I then needed to add some logos etc in Photoshop and the motion background no longer plays. It's just a static image.
Is this something I've done wrong?
    Brian

I don't see a problem, and they both work for me: I can add a motion background, and it works.
BD1  has everything "turned off" except for highlights, so the background does not need to render. It just plays.
BD2 does not, so it needs the menu rendered. But once it does, it also plays.
I just used the m2v from the Baby Room library template as my motion background.
Set BD1 as first play, make sure you have the motion background set, and preview.
If that doesn't work, post a screenshot of your flowchart.

  • Final Cut Server - Roundtripping to Motion Projects stopped working

I Checked Out a Final Cut Pro project from FC Server. Selected a clip on the Timeline and chose Send To Motion Project. I save that Motion Project in  Device folder.
FC Server creates an Asset out of the Motion Project. I used to be able to Check Out that Motion Project from FCServer but now the Check Out Option is greyed out.
    Any help?
    Thank in advance!

Here is what worked for me:
I searched for anything Final Cut (including sys files). I then found an old file called:
    Final Cut Express 3.5 Prefs.fcset
This is an old file from 3.5.0 and although I did try to start 3.5 under Leopard just to see what it did, I never actually opened it. But I guess it was enough to initiate the file being created.
Anyway, when I deleted this file, everything opened fine. I think that 3.5.1 was reading the old 3.5 pref file and since 3.5 won't work under Leopard it was preventing FCE from opening.
That is what I THINK. I can't prove it. But I can prove that once I deleted this file, FCE opened fine.
This is the only file I changed.
    Hope this helps someone!

  • Context sensitive menus stop working in Birt Actuate after last upgrade.. cleared cache, upgraded all addons, finally reinstalled, works in chrome and ie

was also working in firefox before last upgrade

Could you also try Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
Safe mode does not automatically disable plugins. If you want to rule those out as well, you can disable them here:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category
    Any difference?
By the way, is there a public demo site for this tool that exhibits the same problem?

  • Blu-Ray Motion menus don't work!

    Hey Gang,
I posted this issue before but since I received a very limited response, I'm hoping that someone will respond to this simplier issue.
I created a empty blu-ray project. I placed the Encore Crib Motion Menu HD into the project. The menu provided NO motion even after rendering.
I then created a standard DVD project and performed the exact same steps. The motion menu now works.
    I'm running a system with Vista 32 loaded & CS3.
Anyone get the motion menus to work in Blu-Ray?
Please let me know. It will take a minute to duplicate my project.
BTW, I have tried this on two seperate system yielding the same results.
    Thanks!
    Steve

That's right. CS4 simply behaves different to CS3!
I have never had to render out a menu to preview it. We only create motion menus for Blu-ray and only use highlight layers from Photoshop. In CS3, when you right clicked on a menu in Encore and clicked "simulate from here", you would see your highlight layers over the video immediately.
NOW, with CS4, you must render out the menu after clicking "simulate from here" to see it. VERY annoying but I'm sure Adobe did this for a good reason.
Pop-up menus I am glad to report actually work! We haven't figured out how to create motion pop-up menus yet but I suspect this is not available yet in Encore.
If anyone knows any differently, I'd love to hear it.
What's fixed and I'm SO GLAD is that during simulation, the SKIP FORWARD chapter button WORKS!!! In CS3, you had to pause the video and then could skip forward. Now, like any other normal program, while the video is playing, you can skip forward.
I would thank Adobe for fixing this but, let's face it, this just should have worked in CS3!
    Regards,
    Darren

  • After a random time the menus cease working.

After a random time the menus stop working. I click on a button (ie. Tools or Bookmarks) and the pop down shows the items, but when I move the mouse to click an item the popdown disappears.
I can easily "fix" the problem by minimizing, then maximizing the firefox window. I'm running Firefox 4 RC1 on Ubuntu.

    Hey Mohammed,
First off, the Library holding the shared variables should be located on the host as you have it. Next, when you say that the DO hangs what do you mean? Does it simply stop outputting all together or does it output a constant value? And is it possible that your VI and target are losing communication? If you check the Distributed System Manager (DSM), found by selecting Tools >> Distributed System Manager, are the network published variables that you're using to send values from the target to the host still changing? The DSM will display the current value of the variables. This will tell us if the variables are updating and simply not being displayed by the host, if they're staying constant, or if they're not updating because the host has lost communication. Also, once the DO "hangs" can you still communicate with the device in Measurement and Automation Explorer? These steps will help us narrow down the possible causes of this behavior. Have a good evening!

  • Encore stops when rendering motion menus

I have a pretty consistent problem when rendering motion menus/project and I don't know how to fix it. Can anyone help?
I've just started to use Encore2, having switched from DVD Workshop 2.
I've got a wedding to author and I've used the useful 'Create Chapter Index' function that automatically creates sub menus. This has worked fine UNTIL I render the motion menus.
There are four menus: 1 x Main Menu, and 3 x Sub Menus.
If I render number 1 sub menu it's fine. It renders all 375 frames (why are there always 375 frames?).
The number 2 sub menu also renders properly.
When I get to number 3 sub menu, it always stops at frame 294 and Encore hangs! Why should this be?
I tried creating another project using the same mpeg file (4.12 GB) but with different menus and the same thing happens!
    Any ideas?
    John

    > why are there always 375 frames?
Assuming PAL (at 25fps) that would be a 15 second motion menu.
    > always stops at frame 294 and Encore hangs!
Just guessing: If you used motion thumbnails for chapters or timelines, there could be a "glitch" (corruption) 294 frames into the chapter or timeline the thumbnail video is made from.

  • Stop motion menus altogether

I hate the motion menus. Hate them. I want simple straightforward non-moving graphics. I will use the one's Apple provides and have tried to stop the motion but they still move. I've dragged the slider to 0 for any menu that has motion yet they still do some movement, albeit less than before. I just want plain, easy to read menus/themes.
I know I can replace the graphics with my own. I don't want to do that. I want the ones Apple provides to not move. At all. (And there are some that also add their own sound effects even though I've killed the audio on them too.)
    Thank you.

I see that it, in this case, can be green, or grey like the rest of the app. Does green mean there is motion? (i would think so.) It was grey before I clicked it. Setting it to green didn't kill the motion. Nor does grey.
I picked out all the simple, appealing themes I could find but many still have motion. The one's I didn't pick that may not have motion were too ugly to use. I am using Brushed Metal 1 for this project and even though it doesn't have a motion logo (that man again) it still has motion. I see that the graphic for the background is a movie as well so even though the motin menus are set at zero, there is still some motion in that movie, alas.
There isn't something else I do? A box to uncheck? Would dragging the movie for the graphic out and back in from its well do anything good? (Replacing it would but I don't want to create graphics, yet... Maybe I'll have to)

  • ATV 2 stopped working. The connections are good, the remote is paired and working, but the menus come and go off sporadically, and the white light just blinks continuously.

I bought ATV 2 about two weeks ago.  The setup was easy and I set up my Home Sharing, screensavers, and I was watching Netflix within about 20 minutes.  I had a good week of no trouble and enjoyed the device immensely.  I updated the software when prompted and continued to watch movies and play music.  Then something happened: in the middle of viewing, ATV 2 stopped working, the screen went blank, and the little white light started blinking slowly.  When this happens, the ATV manual "troubleshooting" section merely says, "Apple TV is having problems."  ***?  Strangely, it would come on and act fine for a few moments as if nothing happended (for only a minute or two), then click off again.
I attempted to RESET the device by using the Down/Menu combo -- nothing -- the white light blinks really fast but still no picture on the TV (just the Apple logo); I unplugged it and plugged it back in -- no fix; then, I RESTORED the device and had to re-enter Apple and Netflix account info, passwords, set up shared photo folders, etc.  Afterwards, it worked.  I watched movies right where I left off and went on with life until a few days ago when I wanted to finish a movie... The movie was going fine - no problems at all - until ATV 2 stopped working again!
So, the remote works [it is paired and sends commands as it should], the HDMI connection to HDTV is fine, the stereo receiver connection is fine (for audio, using an optical cable).  But the only thing on the TV is the Apple logo.  Resetting ATV 2 doesn't work; and I could restore it again but that seems like a HUGE waste of time, and something I am not prepared to do each time I want to use the device.
What could be the cause?  Wireless interferrence, software/update flaws, need for firmware, or malfunctioning hardware?   ATV 2 is a $100 paperweight until I get answers.

After some sleuthing online, reading a compilation of Q&As here, and visiting the local Apple Store, I think the problem and "solution" may be found in HOW my ATV2 is connected to my stereo.  For some reason that I have not figured out, when the RECEIVER either switches from one setting to another, it somehow disrupts the ATV.
The ORDER of how you turn ATV on and off is key.  If you start with everything OFF (ATV, HDTV, stereo Receiver), then turn on the receiver, then turn the HDTV, put the TV to the input setting that is connected to the ATV, THEN turn on the ATV by hitting the Play button on the remote.
Note: The ATV light may come on once the HDTV is turned on and put to the correct setting, but you will not see a picture on your TV yet.
You should be up and running on ATV (without having to reset, unplug or restore). Apparently, I was using my universal remote that essentially turned everything (HDTV, Onkyo Receiver and, by extension, the ATV) on at the same time, confusing ATV and causing that evil blinking white light.  The ATV connection was lost.
When you are done with ATV, you must put ATV to sleep FIRST... each time. The command is on the main menu, to the far right, at the bottom [Sleep Now].  Once you press Sleep Now, the ATV will go off.  THEN you can turn your receiver/HDTV off (or to whatever other setting you want for watching regular tv, music, etc.).  I was simply switching my HDTV and Receiver 'away' from ATV when I was done... But I would return to a blinking light and no ATV.  The solution above is a work-around that seems to do the trick.
The thing Apple needs to fix is to make the "Sleep Now" command a simple process on the remote so you don't have to back out of everything you were watching to get to the main menu for the Sleep Now command. Or in the next update Apple merely needs to improve ATV2 so it can work no matter what order you open or close it on a HDTV/Stereo.
Note: Other people have suggested that you just hit the select or Menu button to put ATV to sleep, but that did NOT work for me.
I figured this out through trial and error so I hope it works for you too.

  • Problem with Motion Menus

I'm using iDVD 6.0.4 and am having a problem with the menu system.
Everything is fine, and the project is about ready to burn, however whenever I go to add a still picture for the background of the two Chapters selection screens, the Motion Menus time jumps from 4:45/15:00 to over 15:00 by just adding one picture.
What is causing this, and how do I get it to stop!?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks...
    Mike

I had the same problem. Took ages to figure out the problem and the error message does not show up in the manual, though the 15 time limit for 4:3 is mentioned. Does this work better in iDVD08?

  • Encore 2 MOTION MENUs not looping more than 2x

    Gidday Neil & techies:
I have created a wedding DVD. Burnt & both original Motion Menus looped forever. Did some alts, re-burnt DVD ... Now, one of the Motion Menus loops 1-2 times, then randomly plays one of the movies.
(Definitely set to 'loop forever'.) I have re-re-rendered the motion menus, etc. etc. Still no luck.
    Hmmmm...

Awesome. I checked out the other thread, and I didn't find the solution directly, but somewhere they mentioned "layers" and I realized how ignorant I was. The background layer was turned on by default, so I couldn't see the video that was playing behind it. I just toggled it off and presto! The menu works.
    Thanks again.

  • Encore 2.0 motion menus not previewing?

I have been having some trouble with motion menus...I got a copy of Encore 2.0 several years ago and it worked fine then. I recently had a need for it again so I re-installed it and started a project.
My problem is that even with the video transcoded, added to the menu, and the motion menus rendered, it doesn't show up in the preview. I can hear the audio, but it doesn't show the video. After tinkering with this for a little bit I went ahead and burned a disc, thinking that my problem was just a preview issue. The finished disc also doesn't work. You hear the audio and the buttons and timelines work fine, but no motion menus.
I found a discussion on here a while back about changing registry entries (for when Encore gets hung up on importing) and I had a similar issue. I tried that and it worked. I wondered if something similar may be causing the motion menus not to work.
I should mention that I tried re-installing Encore with no such luck.
    Any ideas?

  • Adobe Photoshop CC Has Stopped Working

This discussion is similar in title to another one except that the other was specific to getting the subject message when trying to save a file.  After trying many things, I discovered something that might be help in discovering the underlying reason.
Increasingly, I've been getting the message when doing a wide variety of things within Photoshop CC.  This morning, it's happened nearly every time I try doing anything.  I'm using Windows 7 64-bit.  My video card is an Nvidia Quadro FX 3800, and I downloaded the latest driver in hopes that would solve the problem, but it didn't (I made sure there weren't any Photoshop CC updates, too.).  I'd managed to plow my way through with many shutdowns and restarts.  Finally, I was trying to add text.  All went okay with that until I tried clicking the check mark to complete the operation.  At that point, I'd get closely spaced red lines over part of the image and the stopped-working message (the same thing that had been happening all morning).  I work on two monitors with the image being on a Wacom Cintiq 21UX.  I'd been using the mouse to choose the check mark.  When I tried using the stylus, instead, it made no difference.  In addition, I uninstalled two trial font management programs, but that didn't help, either.
Part way through all this, Bridge CC stopped displaying the psd image and substituted a file icon.  When I finally switched to Bridge for CS 6, the image was shown instead of the icon.  That was encouraging, but the default had become Photoshop CC, and I continued with the same stopped-working problem when I opened it.  Finally, I opened the file from Windows Explorer using Photoshop CS 6.  This time, I was able to add the text with no problem.  I'd been concerned that there might be a problem with my system, but it appears it's with Photoshop CC.

Thanks, Noel.  Here's what I get from Help>System Info
