Motion: No Export Window

For some reason, when I try to export from Motion, the export window does not appear. I have deleted plist and repaired disk permissions, but I have no idea where the window has gone. If I "Export using Compressor" the window appears, but not otherwise. Any suggestions?
Thank you,
Rybo

Trash it then reinstall it... this is a menu that drops from the top of the interface, and you must have a corrupt install I'd think.
Trash the app icon, the plist, preferences, and the reciepts for it in the Library/reciepts folder... then reinstall. I'm pretty sure you can leave the templates alone for this, and the new install will find them without a hitch, and just leave the reciepts for them in the reciepts folder. (Motion content 1 and 2).

  • Unexpected Quits in multiple applications at Save or Import/Export window

    Hello,
For several months I have Apple and Adobe applications as well as Firefox, randomly quit when bringing up the Save, or Import/Export window. (I have copies of the error logs.)
I thought I had it fixed since I haven't had any issues for some time after running Disk Utility and Onyx. But, I posted the same issue a couple of months ago and the solution (at the time) was to keep the desktop clean (see "Crashing at Save" by katorama) . So, after I cleaned up my desktop and only had two aliases to my folders I needed, all went very well until now.
However, what didn't help is that yesterday we had three power outages and my iMac did an auto-restart after each. Since then, the problem returned and nothing seems to fix it.
I feel like this issue is haunting me! I was a tech for many years and normally can fix the issue. But, I can't seem to figure out the reason behind these crazy unexpected quits. Seems I've run out of tools in my toolbag.
    TROUBLESHOOTING ATTEMPTS:
    – I have run Disk Utility to verify and repair disk and Onyx to clean out caches. After this, it seems to run fine, then a different application will have the same problem.
    – When I create a new user account, there is no response when I double click the hard drive (it does not open) and when testing an application for the quit issue, it happens again.
    – Also, when I restart into Safe Boot the problem appears to stop initially, but can appear intermittently again.
I suspect it may be a RAM or even a Quartz issue? But, honestly, I have no idea.

    Hi.
This is about a question you posted to the Firefox Support forum three months ago (I'm sorry you never got an answer).
Did you ever fix the problem where Firefox freezes or hangs, when clicking a download link or using (File menu) "save as" or "open file"? Or when going to the Firefox (Tools) menu and clicking Options ? Or trying to Import or Export bookmarks?
I found this thread searching for a solution for someone on MozillaZine's support forum who's having a similar issue. See this thread: (maybe something he's tried that didn't work for him will work for you?)

  • Export window format changed, don't know why

You know aperture is a love/hate relationship. What do I love? I became an advanced user fast, it's intuitive, but the bugs are just maddening and apple has never responded even once to my countless bug and crash reports. Apple has strayed so far from computing as it's central focus... the impression I get is they just don't care about my bug problems or if I stay an apple customer after owning that little baby Duo laptop, PowerPC, ibook and now MacBook Pro. I think that's sad. Just keep pushing the phones and ipods- Steve, and don't worry about me. I'll eventually just go away. That said, the format of the export window changed to first line: export preset, 2nd line: Subfolder Format, 3rd: "Grayed out" customer subfolder name, 4th: Name Format, 5th: Custom Name, 6th: File Name Example. To my knowledge, this new export window format changed without any action on my part. I don't like it because I can no longer just export it to the desk top without it being automatically put in a folder. The old export window format just had an option for tiff, jpg, psd and a name to type in and where it was heading. How do you get back this old export window format? This is baffling like the disappearing library in the trial version every time you shut down and restarted.

Addressing your final remarks, I don’t see any problem. First: have your current Preset -> Image Export set to what you want in terms of JPEG or PSD etc. Second select the image(s) you want to Export. Select something like File -> Export -> Versions (or whatever you want). The Export panel defaults to the Desktop, and the images will be placed there - no folder is required.
Maybe I’ve missed your point, but I don’t see any problem.

  • Bridge: when I want to export from .psd to .jpeg the export window opens but the target (Ziel) window is empty, thus no target can be selected. This happens since a brigde shut down after "out of memory"

  • IPhoto '08 - Export window won't open

My iPhoto '08 (v 7.1.5) has been working under Leopard without a problem. I have tabs for Facebook and Shutterfly installed for quick uploads.
Today I signed up at PhotoWorks and installed their Photostream2 uploading software. While installing, I was offered the option of installing and iPhoto plugin for quick uploads. Photoworks website says that they have tested this plugin with iPhoto '08 and Leopard.
After the installation, iPhoto's File Export window does not open. Nothing happens when I select the Export menu item.
I have been on the line with PhotoWorks' support and they clearly do not know anything about this.
They asked me to delete the Photoworks/Photostream pref (.plist file) which I did. iPhoto's Export feature still doesn't work.
Has anyone encountered this and can anyone offer suggestions on how to get my iPhoto Export working again?
    Thanks

I’m surprised that the Plug-in doesn’t appear in the Get Info window - it should but not every developer goes about these things the right way.
Back to iPhoto in the Applications Folder. Right Click on it and select ‘Show Package Contents’ from the contextual menu. A Finder window opens with the Contents Folder. Into that and find the Plug-ins folder and drag the errant plug in to the desktop and try again.
If the Plug-in is not there then back to the makers to ask them where they put the darned thing.

  • How To Export Windows Forms Multiple DataGridViews in single PDF using iTextSharp, C#

    Hi,
I am using VS2010 For my windows application dash board is required for that i am using 6 datagridview to display in form and i want to export all datagridviews to one single pdf please help me out.
How To Export Windows Forms Multiple DataGridViews in single PDF using iTextSharp, C#
    Thanks in advance

    Hi friend,
Actually iText is a third party library to create PDF originally written for java. iTextSharp is the C# adaptation of that library.
Question regarding iText are better asked on the iText forum, but this is Microsoft Forum:

  • How do I customize the export window that pops up?

    Hi,
When I export or import from Final Cut, (the window that pops up), how do I change the way the folder places are displayed in the window?
    (Does that make sense?)
    Let me explain it this way;
When the finder window pops up upon import or export of something, the folders are in alphabetical order. I don't want them in alphabetical order, I want them in the order or place that they are in when I click on the hardrive or finder window. No specific order.

    Yes,
I hear what your saying.... But when I open the finder and click through my different hardrives, my folders are positioned like; all the final cut folders are at the top, my current clients are all on the left side of the window, my past projects are along the right side of the window. I am use to finding things in that order.
When I go through Final Cut or Motion the folders are in alphabetical order????
Is their something I changed? Or did the folders always display in alphabetical order?

  • Need to export windows 7 x64 builtin printer driver to a x86 print server

     Hi,
We're planning our migration to windows 7 x64. But our environment doesn't have a x64 server neither a Server 2008; we only have x86 server 2003.
We are having trouble with printer Konica Minolta Bizhub 161f. I spoke with Konica support, they advised me they do not have a x64 driver for this model yet. The tech told me i can use the
HP LaserJet Family PCL5 driver built-in windows 7. I connected the network printer and selected the built-in driver from the list. So far this works as a charm.
Here's my concern, in order to upload x64 drivers to a 32bit server, i need to first to connect the printer from the print server to my x64 computer. But when i try this, i don't have the
prompt to select a driver from win7 built-in drivers. When i choose connect to... it asks me to locate a INF file on my computer. I don't have the INF file since its built-in windows. I tried to look within Windows's file system, under "Windows\INF\" but i
    couldn't find what i need.
    1. How can i export or find a built-in driver file within windows 7?
2.Is there is a better way to upload x64 drivers to a 32bit Server 2003?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Benoit

    Hi Benoit,
    Thanks for the post.
Here is how we find the built-in driver file within Windows 7:
    1. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows X64\Drivers\Version-3\{Printer Driver Name}, in the right panel, check the value of "InfPath". Now we will get the specific path of INF file.
    2. On a x32 Win2k3 server
    Click on Start, Control Panel
    Double click on Printers
    Press the ALT button
    or
Click on Organize, Layout, Menu Bar
Click on File, Run as administrator, Server Properties...
    Click on the Drivers tab
    Click on Add...
    Click on Next
Uncheck the 'x86 Type 3 - User Mode'
Check the 'x64 Type 3 - User Mode'
    Click on Have Disk...
Click on Browse... (to the x64 Win7 machine)
    \\X64Win7\c$\windows\system32\driverstore\filerepository\prn*.inf_{GUID}
    For example:
    \\X64Win7\c$\windows\system32\driverstore\filerepository\prnhp001.inf_5fecfc5e\prnhp001.inf
    Click on Open
    Click on Ok
    Under "Printers"
Select the print driver that you want to install
    Click on Next
    Click on Finish
Now you should be able to see the x64 print drivers installed under the "Processor" column.
    Click on Close
In this case, we need to pay attention to the match of INF file name. As the Konica Minolta Bizhub 161f 32-bit printer driver has been installed on Windows Server 2003, but you try to install HP LaserJet Family PCL5 64-bit printer driver. The two INF files
will not be the same, which causes the x64 driver can be instaled as an additional driver. So we need to change the INF file name to match the 32-bit one. I cannot guarantee that the method can totally work on this case as it may involve some custom settings
from printer manufacturer. If needed, I suggest you contact Konica Support when you go through it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Motion not exporting video, just a black screen

I am creating some scrolling text in Motion and when I export the file I am using the same setting I always have. It is a quicktime movie and I am using the current project and canvas settings. I haven't changed anything but after a few times of exporting scrolling text it only shows a black screen in the exported file. The first few work fine. Any ideas?
    Thanks for your time.

I've seen this problem off and on again for so long now I consider it a feature and not a bug. I have no idea what causes it as I've seen it happen with different versions of Motion, under different versions of the OS on different Macs.
The solution for me is to export as an Animation file when this happens. Nothing else works from reinstalling to trashing the com.apple.motion.plist file.
I've also never ever ever had a .motn file in FCP's timeline render as anything but pure black. Even trying it on different machines in different editing suites. It just doesn't work and never has for me.

  • Motion project exports out of sync

Hi - I'm quite new to motion and have just learned to use it for keying - however I'm quite perplexed by the fact that whenever I export my finished project, it plays back out of sync. I am working at HDV 1080i50 mode, (fairly certain there is nothing telling the machine it's NTSC or anything...)
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Best wishes, Dan

HDV files are probably to hefty to be using in Motion. Try exporting them as Pro Res and reconnecting them. You could also try to bring the Motion Project into FCP and exporting from there.... On other thoughts, does your project have a separate audio file being used? If so, You might want to export the audio file as another format or change it's bit rate.

  • Motion 4 export completely takes over CPU

Every time I export from Motion 4 my computer becomes unusable.  It doesn't crash, but I can't even switch applications.  And when it has finished exporting it never seems to return to normality, and I end up rebooting to start afresh.  I don't have this problem while exporting from After Effects, or from Final Cut Pro.  These apps might slow things down a bit, but they don't make all other processes grind to a complete halt.
Anyone any idea why this should be, and if there is a solution.
    Thanks, KP

Yes, I am using the current project and canvas settings.  And yes, it is a 1080p25 project, and I am exporting to ProRes 4444 (with alpha channel).  But the point is that, even if it takes time to render, it shouldn't hijack the CPU to do it!  I've done exports from a heavily composited After Effects project with all sorts of effects and serious amounts of blur, that takes a minute to render one frame: but I can still work quite happily in other applications (at least, ones that do not themselves require heavy processing).
No, Motion is definitely not set up to play properly with other elements of the operating system.

  • Why does Mountain Lion not save 'Save', 'Save As' and 'Export' window sizes?

Every time I go to Export or Save a document, the window size resets and I have to constantly re-size it every time. It's quite annoying. Is there a way to change these default windows sizes permanently?

Just a guess. Maybe it is not required that the FP be opened but just loaded in memory before the save. In 6.1, find a property/method that requires the FP into memory (such as Edit Mode on Open) and use it before saving the VI.

  • Motion incomplete export

    Greetings all,
I'm having an issue exporting from Motion 3. I'm working with an animation that is 3min45sec long, consisting of fairly high-res images and text, and a single camera that slowly tracks back away from them. Although the export seems to go ok, when I play back the exported file, it consistently stops short of the end, by almost two minutes. I tried exporting just the last two minutes and thirty seconds, and it will export ok for a while, but again the file just stops well short of the end, although not in the same place as when I tried the full export. Any ideas on what might be causing this?
    I've got Motion 3 running on a 8-core G5.
    Thanks.

Motion loads everything into memory, unlike Final Cut Pro which streams media from disk. If you figure 1 megabyte per Standard Def frame, that's 30 megabytes per second or 1.8 gigabytes per minute.
If you go HiDef, you've gotta figure more. 1920x1080x3 bytes per pixel = 6+megabytes per frame or 180 megabytes per second, 10 gigabytes per minute.
Anything that doesn't fit into physical RAM has to be paged out to disk as virtual memory.
You got 40 gigabytes laying around?
Now, this is just back-of-the-envelope figuring, I'm not sure how close it comes to reality, but it should give you some idea. I like to keep my Motion projects under 30 seconds. Way under if possible.
