Motion steady cam is being crazy!

Hi, I have some HD 1080 footage in AIC codec and basically its four minutes sped up to ten seconds (lock off shot), it has very slight jitters to it every now and then so I thought i'd smoothen them out in Motion.
After the analyze I played it back and it was jumping all over the place with he film zooming from left to right and going way out of frame.
What's up with that, it has only very slight jitters, I assumed this would be a very simple steady cam test but I was wrong! Anyone know how to go about it???
I've also tried doing it in ProRes codec and using FCP's steady cam filter but with same results. Also put it into Shake but have no idea how to export a QT from Shake.
Any help would be appreciated, cheers
(FCS2 with all latest update - except the very latest ProApps update)

Format shouldn't matter.
Did you try and run the stabilize behavior on the time compressed clip or did you render the time change out then work on the new 10 second clip?

  • Why is Motion so much quicker than FCP doing Steady Cam?

Being a helicopter operator I keep doing projects that require steady cam.
I used to use Shake, then Motion, and now FCP with the additon of steadycam but I am wondering why Motion is so much quicker than FCP with the same clip.
Maybe a dumb question but one I need to ask.

running the same filter in both fcp and motion, motion always renders faster.
This is because motion renders and draws all frames directly on your graphics card. FCP now uses the GPU for many effects but has to read back from your card to main memory.
Unless Apple does a total rewrite of FCP this is unlikely to change, guess you either have to keep swapping apps or put up with longer renders in FCP.

  • Isight camera- Camera is being used by another program

I use my MBP with an external keybpard, & mouse, and monitor so I run it witht he lid closed. Everytime I go to click on the ichat icon- I get a message saying camera is being use by another program.
I am also trying to use an external camera. THis message happens with out without the external camera being connected.
    Any thoughts on this?

Try this... shut down ur machine, then hold the power
button for almost 10seconds or until u hear a beep,
then once ur machine is fully booted up the camera
should start working again. Good luck!
I don't have any issues, but I'm interested... What does this actually do? And what is it typically referred to as?
Is it similar to resetting the PRAM?

  • Motion capture camera

    Hello Guys
My name is Deependra, I am new to the software lab view and I am trying to understand it, I work at a lab at the UM Dbn campus and here we' re trying to conduct a study on musculoskeletal disorders, in this, we' re trying to control the motion capture cameras with LabVIEW, I am trying to find the basic VI codes for this task, along with that, if anyone of you can give me some suggestion in this regard, I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers
    Deependra

We' re conducting a study on musculoskeletal disorders caused due to prolonged sitting, it's a project based on ergonomics, for that our quest to integrate all the components that we' re using, now these components inc a motion capture camera, the other hardware like force plate and emg, we have been able to calibrate them and integrate with LabVIEW, its' the motion capture camera, that we' re having issues with, so, I was hoping that if there's any VI code or any other source, citation from where I could get get some information on how to accomplish this.

  • Ichat says camera is being used by another application when its not!

Evry time i go to hook up my cam, (sony handycam), the stupid computer tells me that my camera is being used already by another application...even when every app is closed and off.. it still says this

    Hi,
This message can also show up when iChat is having trouble recognizing the video format coming from the camera. I'm not sure if it will help, but you may want to try installing the iChatUSBCam demo to see if it help iChat to recognize the camera.

  • Your camera is being used by another aplication

hi, i just by my imac g5 and suddently photobooth wouldnt open anymore.
it says that my camera is being used by another aplication , but i have cheked if other aplications are open (ichat, imovie hd, comic life) ...and they are not. Please help me solve my problem..
How can i know witch aplication is using my camera?

It can be that you (or some one you share the Mac with) has not closed down an application that was using the camera when you switched accounts.
If you could check the other accounts have no applications running that use the camera. You can do this in sysprefs, accounts. (need admin access)
Very often Photobooth has an all account camera claim when running.

  • Steady Cam problem or FCE HD?

I cannot decide where the lines are coming from that make my dance videos look a little blockish on the edges. Sometimes there are visible horizontal lines. They were not noticable on the 21" monitor I view when shooting the events.
I do use the Sony SteadyCam mode that helps with the jerks and motions of movement on my part and I capture now in FCE HD 3.
Shooting with a Sony HDV HRC-1 in 16:9 DV mode with iLink conversion to DV Out.

Truth is, it's probably the DV format. When you view the camera live (e-to-e) on a monitor, the signal is not going through the DV compression codec, so it will look one way 'in the viewfinder' and another off tape. DV is a compressed format and there's no getting around it. Also, the compression tends to exaggerate thin lines that are close to horizontal. In general, DV will look bad on any of these lines that are within, say, 15 degrees of horizontal. Finally, yes, the digital steadyshot feature moves the camera around on a subpixel level and will exaggerate all the above somewhat.

Don't know what any of it means.. if somone can let me know what I have to do to make the iChat vid to work let me know. Thank you.

I have exactly the same problem! None of the above worked either. I have a logitech camera with iUSB installed which worked fine when I had 10.4.11, but after upgrading recently to 10.5.5 following a hard drive failure on my G5 imac and re-installing iUSBcam, all I get is that the camera is in use by another application! Again, as with the initial post, it works with photobooth and the logitech driver software fine.
I have seen on another post, that an "archive and install" from the original disk has solved the problem previously, but having just spent some considerable time re-building my system to where it was before the hard drive failed, I am a bit loathed to follow this route. Any ideas gratefully appreciated.

  • Stop-motion with camera?

I have a school project where I need to animate a stop-motion video. We used a Canon 7D to take pictures and I imported them in lightroom. What I need to do now is take all of these frames and put them together to make the video. I tried manually doing it, but it came out all shaky. There has to be an easier way then to manually do it like that.
    Please help
    Thanks
    -RJ

I'm guessing that the jerkiness is based on the camera's moving from one photo to the next. While Flash has an onion-skin function for the timeline, aligning a lot of imported photos will be a long and painful process. Flash isn't really the right tool for this sort of thing. Photoshop, on the other hand, has a crop and straighten photos function that will organize all of your photos while you sit and sip your coffee. It's in the File... Automate... menu. When you have the photos aligned and cropped, you can then export a video file straight from Photoshop.

  • ISight (iChat and PhotoBooth) cam is outputing CRAZY colors!

    Hi Everyone!
I'm having an annoying issue. My HD recently crashed, and I just got it back from Apple. Fortunately I had TM running, so I got almost everything back. However.. after getting the machine up, and updating back to x.5.2.. my iSight is outputing CRAZY colors. Mainly yellow, grainy, nightvisiony looking image. It occurs in all video apps, I have tried resetting my SMC (although I have no way of knowing if I did or not), and jillions of restarts. I had this happen once before, and the SMC fix did it. Does anyone know a way to get the camera back to usable? Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Hello Steve
... complete list of files (cache, library etc) that Isight draws upon.
I do not think that iSight uses ANY caches. I suppose the apps that operate your iSight might.
The best iSight technical info source I know is this search of the Apple Developer Connection. You may be able to get more specific help by becoming an ADC Member if you are not one already.
As an alternative to researching the ADC info, I offer another thought you may have already considered or tried. If I understand correctly what you have been doing at this thread in the Time Machine Forum, you believe that your iSight problem might be correctable by resetting preferences or clearing caches, but you have decided not to attempt resolution by deleting ALL system preferences and caches. If you think it might be beneficial, you could try an application like Yasu that can give you some control over which preferences and caches you can reset without using the terminal or deleting items generated and managed by OS X.
Finally, Steve, please allow me a word of caution for other readers. You seem to be an experienced OS X user who is more comfortable working at lower levels of OS X than many of us. For benefit of other readers who may be less knowledgeable, it is generally a bad idea to move, modify, rename, or delete any item outside your User > Documents folder unless you know what you are doing. While doing so will not harm your computer, if you damage your data or system files, you will need to restore them, which can be time consuming. Until you have enough knowledge to safely work with them manually, I suggest that you let OS X and your applications manage the files for you as they were designed to do.
    Cheers,
    EZ Jim

  • ICloud Photo Library - Are my camera photos being compressed?

When 'Optimize iPhone Storage' is selected, are the photos I take with the iPhone being compressed and the originals deleted locally after being uploaded, or is it just photos taken with an iPad which are then synced across other devices that are 'optimized'? I've searched online and can't seem to find an answer to this question.

    Greetings Mac_Man_Dan,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you have a question about how your photos are stored when you elect to optimize your iPhone storage. Please refer to the attached article for information on this question.
iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support
How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device?
If you turn on Optimize [device] Storage, iCloud Photo Library will automatically manage the size of your library on your iOS device, so you can make the most of your device's storage and access more photos than ever. iCloud Photo Library stores the original, high-resolution photos and videos in iCloud and can keep lightweight, device-optimized versions on each of your devices. As long as you have enough storage, recent photos and videos that you access the most will stay on your device at full resolution.
To turn on Optimize [device] Storage on your device, tap Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera, then select Optimize [device] Storage. You need an Internet connection to access an original photo or video that’s stored only in iCloud.
    Cheers,
    Joe

  • Need Help With Motion Track/Camera Tracking

I've been trying for several days to motion track 2 seconds worth of footage but I cannot get it. I've tried the AE motion track, 3D Camera Tracker, Mocha Pro, Camera Tracker from the Foundry, Boujou (could be user error with that though, cause I had never used it before), but I cannot get this shot figured out. Test - YouTube here is a link to the footage, I'm trying to track from frame 183-235 (where the guy is kneeling down in front of the box holding dynamite and everything is black and red)
Any help would be great, all I want to do is have an image attached to one of the boards in the background so it doesn't move.
    Thanks!

Wow you have boujou? Thats awesome $10k, anyway looks like mocha should be fine for this as I don't see a ton of camera movement in that shot where you want to track. Do you know how to use mocha? If not there are tuts while working on that scene. Here's a few http://cgi.tutsplus.com/articles/advanced-motion-tracking-with-mocha-ae--ae-15231 and for various tracker apps including the built in one http://cgi.tutsplus.com/articles/26-tracking-and-matchmoving-tutorials--ae-7394
