Motion title problem

Hi, I create final scroll subtitles in my DVCPRO50 PAL anamorphic project. In previous projects I allways create final subtitles with using Video Generators->Boris->Title Crawl. Now I need insert some logo in to subtitles. I try create it using Motion 4, but quality of final subtitles created in Motion 4 in comparison with subtitles create using Title Crawl generator is wery bad. Scroll text is wery flicking and blur. I'm checked it on CRT TV monitor and Apple Cinema Display.

Welcome to the discussions...
First of all, final delivery format is critical to evaluating the quality of your subtitles.
There are many reasons for soft edges on titles, you would do well to search the forum.
Mark Spencer has an excellent write up online on soft edged Motion projects in FCP. If you search his website: http://applemotion.net for words like blurry or soft, you should find it.
Finally, make sure your field order matches your final cut pro sequence's field dominance. That can cause a 50% reduction in resolution/quality.

Shakey Motion Titles When Authored to DVD From FCP

Hi all, i'm having a real nightmare getting motion titles in to an FCP project then authoring to iDVD.
This evening i tried embedding some streak titles in to a piece of a footage in FCP, i use the 'Send to Motion' function. The project looks absolutly fine when played back in FCP but when i author to DVD the section with Motion in is very shakey, it's a very quick shake and it comes more across as very weak distortion. The motion titles look great but it throws out the rest of the footage.
I've tried setting the field order to none and it only slightly helps. Both of my resolutions are 720 x 576 PAL, FCP Footage is DV PAL 48 KHZ.
Can anyone help????

If I use the crop tool, that leaves a black border around the frame that's visible when I open the exported QT in the QT player. Was there another way of doing it?

Using Motion titles as 'supers' in Final Cut?

Is there a way I can create Motion titles on a transparent background that will allow me to bring them in and super them over a sequence in Final Cut?

Sorry - you probably wanted some pointers there...
If I'm doing that, I'll often send the video clip into Motion, but turn it off before saving it, then just layer the .motn project file over the video in FCP...

Problems with Motion title

I am trying to create a title using one of Motion's pre-made template's but every time I try to import the picture it does not fit the drop zone and I can't resize it or anything. I am very new to Final Cut Studio, I worked with Final Cut Pro a while back but I have not done a whole lot with Motion. I am trying to create some good looking titles for a fitness company that hired me, but I have not had so much luck. If anyone could give me a link to some good tutorials or has some good advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

Not sure which template you're using, but there is a Fit parameter with drop zones. Select the drop zone and click on the Image tab in the Inspector. Under the Fit parameter, make sure it says, "Fit" and not Center or Stretch.

Simplest way to make Motion Title Template

I'm transitioning from FCP/Suite to Adobe Suite and am ironing out the 'why doesn't X work' frustrations one by one pretty successfully...except for when it comes to Titles.
For one of my clients, I have created a rather basic lower third template so I can quickly do multiple titles for segments that contain 5-12 interviews. Basically it's a short 6 second Quicktime lower third animated movie with text fading in/out. Very basic. Very easy to create in both Motion and After Effects. And in Motion/FCP I could save it as a template and then use it repeatedly (even copy and paste it within a sequence to save time).
I am having a devil of a time doing something similar in Premiere Pro. Through various readings on the forum I've learned that the Title function in PP is limited to stills. I've read suggestions to create a mini-project and import it (and the sequence) into whatever new project I'm creating.
Problem I keep coming across is that no matter what I do, I can only create one title this way as any secondary copy references the original and any change to one, changes them all (changing the name, for example).
So far the only thing that seems to work is creating individual titles in After Effects (changing the name/title) and saving them individually and importing them individually into PP. Which is very time consuming.
As I want to have the text fade in and out, creating a template for the text doesn't really do any good as I have to apply fade in/out at the appropriate spots.
Honestly, this is the major reason I have not fully commited to Premier Pro as I do too much of this kind of work and it takes a lot longer in PP than in FCP to do titles effectively.

First of all, I use After Effects to create motion in my lower thirds, but it you just want to set up the motion part in Ae and then change the text in Premiere Pro, that is easy enough. You are just missing a step.
You didn't say which version of Premiere Pro you are using. There are significant changes regarding this topic in CC.
In CS6, you just need to open a title that you want to copy, and before you change anything, select the "New Title Based on Current Title" button in the upper left of the title window.
In Premiere Pro CC (latest upgrade required) you can just use the instructions found here to duplicate the title so a new title will be created for you automatically. Much easier.

Strange motion tween problem

So I have been making an animation to a voice over for a project. Comes in at about 2000+ frames with each animations different "scene" location split into 16 layers.
If I play the entire movie from start to finish my 2nd to last "scene's" motion tweens play really fast and repeat randomly.
If I use a gotoAndPlay to the frame where this "scene" starts the motion tween plays as intended.
The problem "scene" is setup like all my others with the "scene" being in its own movieclip on the main timeline, and then nesting other movieclips inside it. When I remove the tweens from the nested movieclips there is no movement issue, but obviously there is also no movement which I need.
My fix so far has been to add a goToAndPlay on the first frame of the problem "scene", eg "gotoAndPlay(1895); above frame 1895" which plays the tween correctly but makes my audio stutter when it hits that frame. So is not exactly the desired effect.
Note: when I say "scene" I don't mean flash scenes more taking about the different shots/locations of my animation.
I've searched google for hours to try find a similar issues with no success. So really do appreciate any help or ideas from some more experienced flashers

You're trying to have different slices fade in? If you just
want the image,
as a whole to fade in, import it and convert it to a
MovieClip and fade in
the clip.

It's a bad practice to apply templates to pages that have
existing content.
To be absolutely sure, the very best way is to spawn a blank
page from the
template, and copy/paste from the existing page. Then save
the new page
over the old one.

Motion 4 problems

When using motion 4 all my RAM is getting used and I have 8Gb. I just watch it slowly go down on my free memory app. I have been told that this shouldnt happen but not been told if there is a solution? Any one had this problem too or know how to solve it?
I have had the same problem with all the operating systems I've had on the pro.

sorry, I cannot duplicate your situation. "Send to" operates as expected on my FCS3 system and the Motion project files end up where I save them.

Reuse_alv_grid_display TITLE problem after refresh

I have a alv report using fm reuse_alv_grid_display. While calling initially this fm i am passing the grid tile in I_GRID_TITLE parameter. its displaying in grid, then after user click on the app toolbar button , i am doing some filteration , then coming back to grid the TITLE is missing in display

Thanks for your replies. I have done all that has been said. My problem is that when the user double clicks on the ALV without pressing the sort button in the ALV display, the index provided in the user-command subroutine is the same as the index of the record in the internal table. But, when the user sorts dynamically when the ALV is displayed and then double clicks, the index of the record provided by ALV is different from the index of that record in the internal table.
For example, when the ALV grid is shown a record is in the 1st row, and when the user double clicks now, the index of this record provided is 1 which is same as the index in the internal table.
But, after the user sorts in the display, if this record moves to the 5th row, the index provided by ALV will become 5, but, actually the index in the internal table is still 1.

Iphoto file name / title problem

Trying to figure out why titles are not consistent. Some batches show the .JPG or .CRW extension in the title and some batches do not. What is the cause, and is there a way to force the extension to either display or not for all photos in the library.
Also, unrelated, I realized that at some point my file numbers got screwed up. Specifically, after the import that ended with MG0718, the next import started with file MG7054. Some 1000 photos later I noticed. I'd like to be able to renumber these. And if I can , I'd then like to get (trick) my camera into saving new photos, starting with maybe MG2000.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First, you've posted in the iPhoto 08 forum and may not get the responses you'd would in the iPhoto 6 forum.
As far as numbering is concerned that's a camera issue an I don't know of any way to set a start point in any camera. FWIW here's how I handle file naming:
1 - I upload to a folder on the desktop.
2 - date and name the folder: 03/08/08-Temecula Rod Show. This will give me an event with the same title when imported.
3 - I use R-Name to batch rename the files with the date taken and a brief description: 2008-03-08-TemRodShow-01.jpg.
4 - import the folder.
That avoids problems down the line with duplicate file names during exporting. It also gives me excellent chronological sorting and searching.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Slow motion exporting problems

Hi there I had posted a topic with this same problem a couple of weeks ago and got some great suggestions, but unfortunately have to report that nothing has worked! I have tried deinterlacing, got a plugin from the net which was meant to have smoothed the slow motion, all looks well in the FCP and also in the exported quicktime, so does anyone know why it looks terrible when I watch the dvd back?
an example is that Someone took a photo of the couple I was filming, the flash looks square! And when I moved the camera around while filming, the edges of people look square. Have an idea it may be something to do with pixels, but I dont know what!
I am really at my wits end trying to find solutions and am about ready to fire my mac out the window! Can anyone help and save the mac?

It depends on the formats you import. Are you slowing your footage down -100%? make sure you have constant speed checked. Maybe your time remapping it.

CS4 Export: Motion Blur problem.

Hi,
I'm having problems exporting a bunch of sequences to h264. Source files are MPEG2, sequence is DV, export is h264 through Adobe Media Encoder. For some reason, the exported video has weird motion blur, but that effect is not added to the videos. All I did was level the audio and export. What could be wrong? Known bug, perhaps?

Had the same problem as well. Did some experiment on it and managed to solve it on CS4.
Select entire clip in the timeline
Right click on the clips and uncheck "Frame Blend"
Then export it.
It works for me... hope it does for u too.

Search by title problems...

Someone please tell me if this is just me, but searching by title seems terribly broken in LR 1.1.
Try searching for Title "is empty" or Title "isn't empty". It behaves for me as if all of my photos have titles when in fact almost none do.
I've also had very strange problems where I change the title of an image and then search for that title and it can't be found. However if I *restart* LR it can then find those images. I have tried syncing the metadata to disk, but that doesn't help.
I'm having a hard time trusting LR with all my work when basic stuff like this doesn't seem to be stable in a 1.1 release.

You can use multiple managed properties in search box to restrict the search results, try the following string format in search box for restricting by "Title" and "Created By" when you click "Search" icon/button from search
box.

CFLAYOUT Tab Mouseover title problem

I'm using Coldfusion 8 that has a built in tabular layout
tag. Its my understanding that it is all built on the ext library.
My problem is when I make a tab title and include html it renders
properly but when you mouse over for a few sections the "title" tag
has the code in it and therefore disaplysa bunch of ugly code in
the tooltip. I've tried to mess with the ext library code but its
pretty hard to follow in the CF version. Please help!

Iphoto sort by title problem

I am having an issue with iphoto 09' sort by title. Hopefully my explanation make sense. The titles of the photos are Thanksgiving 1, Thanksgiving 2, Thanksgiving 3 and on in the same manner. What is strange is that it is sorting them in the following order: Thanksgiving 1, Thanksgiving 10, Thanksgiving 11, 12, ......19, then to Thanksgiving 2, Thanksgiving 20, 21, 22,.....29, Thanksgiving 30 etc. You would think it would sort them in the same way we count, but for some reason it isn't. Any ideas for how I can fix this sorting problem?
