Motion Tween Issue

So I'm making a drop down menu (first time) and the motion tweens are... well they're being weird.  There is not arrow on the frames where the motion tween is.  And the drop down menu is not apprearing... however, there is definitely a motion tween on those frames, but no motion is occuring...  What am I doing wrong?
I'd be happy to upload the file for examination.

The button is what I'm trying to get to work.  I'm trying to make a drop down menu on the "artists" button.
I've attached the file in ".txt" format, so just changed it back to ".fla" to make it work.  If maybe you could give it a look see and help me out a little?  I'd really appreciate it.
The tweens are under the "menu" movieclip.  You can just access it from the library.
Thanks.

  • Some very weird issue with Motion tween

Hello, guys! I confronted some kind of weird problem. I uploaded it in fla, https://www.dropbox.com/s/u9bkjiokk51m1o3/landscape_START.fla. Soo, about the problem, flowers in layers 8,9,10 act wrong, when im trying to apply motion tween, they move from their current position right to the hell another one, and i can't understand why. Can somebody explain me what the matter? Because the  rest of objects in another layers make it right, when i use motion tween. Oh, and btw, when you make zoom like 50% and less, u can see the workplace consist of gray square in dark gray square, again, wtf? When i make sizes in properties panel larger, it just goes crazy.

Emm, i meant that you should make motion tween by yourself to see that problem with flowers on layers 8,9,10. You just selecting any frame you want, then applying motion tween on flower on layer 8,9 or 10 and then puff, its like screwed up. Well, i tried to copy and replace this flower movie clips, but its always the same. For example, the rest of objects, when you apply motion tween on em, dont changing their location...

  • Free Transform breaks Motion Tweens

Sigh! Normally I try to solve problems myself... but Google isn't giving me anything about this so maybe I'm the only one in the world experiencing this particular issue.
I've used Flash for making games for years now, and I got used to using the old motion tweens for making looping animations for characters. I made the leap from AS2 to AS3 a while ago, and felt like I should try to use these new motion tweens as well since I got CS5...
I've found them completely unusable, however, due to a bizarre problem that happens when moving around objects using the Free Transform tool.
For a single character, I'll have a MovieClip with several layers, each with a 'body part' MovieClip on it, then I add the new blue-type motion tweens to all of those layers. At the end of those tweens, I use F6 to (hopefully) duplicate the starting pose; it is meant to loop, after all. Then I'll go about half way between these two keyframes and move bits around to create the A->B->A sort of 'idle' or 'breathing' animation.
The Free Transform seems dodgy though. If I select all the 'limbs' of a character at once and try to rotate them as a group, it works, but they each end up displaced a bit when I release the mouse; they get offset slightly or rotate a bit in seemingly random directions.
For example, compare these two images (it's easiest if they're opened in separate tabs, I suppose): http://scraps.fighunter.com/sparkpupagh1.png and http://scraps.fighunter.com/sparkpupagh2.png
The first one is after rotating it but before I released the mouse button, the second is what the pieces ended up like after I released the button. Most of the pieces ended up where they should be, but the head was offset slightly. This is a mild case; it's usually worse and affects all the pieces, and the slight offsets and rotations build up, too.
This in itself wouldn't be too bad - though it's frustratingly inaccurate - but it gets much, much worse the more I work on a single animation.
(Note: These strange changes don't happen if I rotate all the parts as a group if they're not also contained within new motion tweens...)
Here's a screenshot showing a frame mid-way through an animation, with one of the parts selected: http://scraps.fighunter.com/meepagh1.png
The Motion Editor is shown, though I don't use that directly.
With that feather bit selected, I then rotated it a tiny, tiny amount, but didn't *move* it at all. When I released the mouse, it ended up snapping suddenly to here: http://scraps.fighunter.com/meepagh2.png
That'd be frustrating in itself, but as you can see from the Motion Editor, it's also messed up most of the other frames in the animation, somehow. This becomes unbearable, as you can likely imagine!
If I edit the graph in the Motion Editor directly to alter the Z value and cause a rotation, it works, without problems... but this is horribly inefficient and unintuitive and not a solution. I can't animate by tweaking numbers. It's like trying to draw a portrait using an Etch-A-Sketch!
It seems to only be the Free Transform tool that creates this bizarre problem.
This has been happening since I got CS5 maybe a year or two ago, though I haven't actually had to use the animation tools much until a few days ago so that's why I'm bringing it up now. I've restarted Flash, my computer, etc, etc, many times; I also got the trial version of CS6 today to see if THAT would fix it, but the exact same thing happens in that version too.
I'm wondering whether it's my computer's fault in some way... I don't know enough about hardware and 'specs' and that sort of stuff to describe anything about it, but I'm using Windows Vista and the computer is fairly old and not exactly what I'd call reliable. I'm planning to get a new one soon, so it'd be nice if that fixed this problem... but frustrating if it doesn't.
I'll link to the CS6-flavoured .fla that those screenshots are from: http://scraps.fighunter.com/Meep.fla
I'd very much appreciate it if someone could test this to see if it's happening to only me! If I go to frame 146 (to choose one at random), and try to rotate the foot, slightly, using the Free Transform tool, it breaks in the way that I've described. (Oddly, the head feather rotates without issues on that frame...) If you were to try to do this same thing and it *doesn't* break, it might be a good sign that it's my computer's fault!
If it *does* break though... then I'd very much appreciate any help I can get from someone who understands the new motion tweens better than I do!
It'd be a shame to have to go back to Classic Tweens because of this...

  • Motion Tween Keyframe Display

    Hello Everyone,
I faced a very strange issue while working with motion tween. I have motion tween of 100 frames. The motion tween path on the stage shows me Keyframes at every 5 frames i.e. it shows keyframe of 5,10,15,20 and so on till 100..No isues with that at all.
But when trying to motion tween the duration to 99 frame or even lesser the entire motion tween path shows me each and every Keyframe on the stage which becomes so cumborsome to handle as then I have to manage all the keyframes on the stage. Whereas, when it is 100(just a frame more) it starts showing a different display.
How can I have to same display if I were to reduce the motion tween to 99 or less, in that instance it is much easier to ease the frames in my animation..Is there any setting which controls this??
Please help geeks as your help as always been a boon for me.
    Thanks,
    Kangana
I am using Flash Professional CS5.0

    Hi Darshan,
Thanks for your response but this is not what I wanted to explain.
The duration of the layer for motion tween is at 100 frames in the first setting. On the Stage I can only see Anchor Points(Keyframes) on frames 5,10,15 and so on.. No issues with that. I have taken a screen shot of this and attached as Version-1
Now with the same file and everything being the same, If I decrease the duration of the Layer by just one frame i.e.99 or lower, then all the anchor points(i.e.keyframes) 1,2,3... become visible on the motion tween path on the Stage. I have also attached the screen shot as Version-2
I trust there would be a setting which controls this display.
    Thanks for your help...

  • How to move a keyframe from a Motion Tween in Flash CS4

I understand that motion tween is a new form of tween in CS 4 however  I am unable to move a keyframe within the time line? am I missing something? I would hope I could select the keyframe (diamond  shape) and move it around the timeline but apprently Im missing something.. I am not able to do a cut and copy either... is this normal behavior?
    thanks

Thank you so much for getting back to me so quick. Work is chaotic right now or I would have replied sooner.
Anyway, my lines aren't actually 3D at all. Everything, including the box, are 2D. But that does give me an idea, once I'm more proficient in Flash if I decide to make this animation even better in the future.
I attached a screenshot of my homepage. You'll see a set of lines on the left side that surround a square with Sarah Knouse LeCroy inside. (That square is what I was referring to as a 'box'...probably not a good description.) I want that square to move down to the bottom left corner when you click on Portfolio, Contact or Resume. As it moves, I want the lines to collapse and fold together so that it looks like they're all neatly getting 'packed away' so that all that's left when viewing, say Portfolio, is an empty page with the square down in the lower left corner.
What is the best way to animate those lines in CS4? Most of the lines do not need to stay connected to the square as it's moving so I think I can just do a Classic tween for those. But the 3 diagonal ones DO need to stay connected to the box as it's moving. I was doing a motion tween and rotating/elongating each line in sections but they still didn't match up exactly in some places during the move. When I would try to go back and adjust a position I had set, it would just pop right back to the original position.
The last problem I'm having is an issue with getting this animation to play only when you leave the homepage and click to Portfolio, Contact or Resume.
But don't want to overwhelm so just answer what you have time for! Later, I could attach my main timeline so that you could see what I already have set up.
    Thanks so much!

  • Motion Tweening Components - Will Not Work

I've been using Flash for a few weeks and have scoured and
scoured, trying to solve what I'm sure will turn out to be a small
    issue I'm over looking.
Basically, I have buttons, scrollpanes, and FLVPlayer
components on my stage, in separate layers that work fine when they
are on the keyframe that I add them to initially. However, I want
to animate these components moving in and out of the stage (see
www.rossmnewton.com for an example). So I make new keyframes before
and after the keyframe I added the components on, copy the
components, move to the other keyframe, paste in place, move it,
then create a motion tween, and the animation works fine. The
problem is, no matter what I do though, my buttons, scrollpanes,
and any other component, will fail to work as soon as I apply a
motion tween to them. Instantly, they stop working. And I can't
figure out how to animate these types of components without
    breaking them.
What am I messing up here? Can you not motion tween buttons
moving around? Or an FLV player?
And I notice that it creates "Tween 1", "Tween 2", etc.,
objects of type Graphic in the Library.

    Hi,
The Sample Calendar component download has been fixed for Update 7.
    http://developer.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/reference/codesamples/samplecomps/calendar.html
Also, the source is available and also is valid.
Please read the brief instructions in NOTES.txt
To build the source, you'll need to use ant
    http://ant.apache.org
Then , in the build.xml file included in the zip, correct
the creator.home property setting to point to the installation directory of Creator.

  • Strange motion tween problem

So I have been making an animation to a voice over for a project. Comes in at about 2000+ frames with each animations different "scene" location split into 16 layers.
If I play the entire movie from start to finish my 2nd to last "scene's" motion tweens play really fast and repeat randomly.
If I use a gotoAndPlay to the frame where this "scene" starts the motion tween plays as intended.
The problem "scene" is setup like all my others with the "scene" being in its own movieclip on the main timeline, and then nesting other movieclips inside it. When I remove the tweens from the nested movieclips there is no movement issue, but obviously there is also no movement which I need.
My fix so far has been to add a goToAndPlay on the first frame of the problem "scene", eg "gotoAndPlay(1895); above frame 1895" which plays the tween correctly but makes my audio stutter when it hits that frame. So is not exactly the desired effect.
Note: when I say "scene" I don't mean flash scenes more taking about the different shots/locations of my animation.
I've searched google for hours to try find a similar issues with no success. So really do appreciate any help or ideas from some more experienced flashers

You're trying to have different slices fade in? If you just
    want the image,
as a whole to fade in, import it and convert it to a
    MovieClip and fade in
    the clip.

  • Motion Tweening error?

I'm getting the following error: Motion tweening will not occur on layers with ungrouped shapes or on layers with more than one group or symbol
I don't have any ungrouped shapes (it's all text), each layer has 5 instances of only one symbol (keyframes), no objects are grouped and text is all static text.
When watching the animation, the first word (web) looks fine, on the second word (design) the tween fails on the last couple of frames of that clip (the blur filter disappears), the third word (and) is OK, and on the forth word (development) the blur filter is not applied to the last 16 frames of that clip.
I broke each animation into its own MC thinking that was causing the issue, but that didn't fix anything.
This is very weird and I can't figure out what is causing the issue.
The forum kept reporting"The content type of this attachment is not allowed." when trying to attach so I loaded it here (it's only 1mb): http://www.nezumidesign.com/home.fla
    I'm using flash CS3 and AS 2.0
    Thanks in advance,
    Shannon

I think I figured out what is up with the playback issues.  I was transforming the movie clips to 1800% original size in the tween.  This would cause the instances to be 3 ro 4 times the width of my movie.  Apparently the flash player doesn't like that.  When reduced to say 400% and still bigger than my movie size but not too extreme, the animations play fine.  Any confirmation on this, or anyone had similar issues?
The error message is still odd.

  • The new motion tweening of symbols - awkward - what am i doing wrong?

    Hello.
I have been doing classic tween animations for years now, and i still have to find a use for the new one to get benefits of these custom easing like "spring" etc which would be very handy to have without doing them manually. But as soon as i say to myself "ok lets try this new tweening" im running into absurds like the one on screenshot. Its a simple animation of symbol from left to right with added "spring" easing... as you can see its nothing like the one shown on the preview... Whats wrong with this? Does it need ot have like bazylion of frames to be able to work properly? And why its cutted on top so it doesnt look like elastic spring but rather like somehting hitting hard wall?

Agreed that the motion editor is unintuitive and generally not very good.
The issue you are running into here is this: When you apply an ease, flash does not expect you to want to ease between those two keyframes. That would be what you expect to happen, and that would be useful, but it's not the way it works. It is actually using the entire motion tween to decide how it's going to perform the ease. It's kind of difficult to describe, so maybe these screenshots will help illustrate what's going on.
In this shot, the entire length of the tween contains two keyframes. One is the start, and the other is the max height of the spring.
Everything is ruined if I duplicate the last keyframe. The expectation would be that the spring would apply between the first two keyframes, but it actually tweens the whole span.
You can sort of get an idea of what's going on as you slide those keyframes together.
If you split the motion, it will work as expected... sort of. Not sure about others, but it causes issues in our code if a movieclip's tween is not unbroken. So the whole motion editor is pretty worthless to me, and I wind up making a ton of keyframes by hand instead.

  • CS5.5 broke my CS5 motion tweens

I opened in CS5.5 my flash files previously made on CS5.
all the motion tween ( classic mode ) are broken.
lets me explain: the broken effects looks like when you have left a piece of design on one ot the 2 frames between the motion.
so it begins to make the motion but "jumps" for the ast frame.
so i canceled the motion et remade it in CS5.5 but nothing changes.
any idea how to solve it ?

I am aware of the conformation issue with audio being truncated (hence, I stated that I let it complete 100% in my initial post).  But truncated audio is not the problem I am seeing.  My audio has a beginning and it has an end.  But in between, sections of audio are missing.  There are no visible gaps because Premiere just concatenates all the sections that did not get cut into one continuous audio stream.
Ultimately my audio stream ends up only being half the size that it's supposed to be.

  • Motion tweens in animations for handsets

I have an animation that's headed for mobile handsets and
Flash Lite. In it are motion tweens. I've been advised that a tween
will slow down the playback on a handset. Is the solution to
convert each of the tweens to individual frames?
    Thanks

We see this issue weekly if not daily - make sure the text
fields are set to Static (default is
Dynamic and dynamic text needs the font outlines embedded to
render in the player). If you must have
Dynamic fonts then embed the font outlines.

  • Move motion tween and custom ease property keyframe at the same time???

    Hello,
I'm making adjusments to my animation, by "ctl" clicking the motion tween diamond keyframe in the timeline, and moving it.  It works great, except I have a custom ease property set up that has keyframes that correspond to the animation.  When I move a keyframe, they all update and move except for the custom ease keyframes in the motion editor.  Is there a way to do this??  Set it up so that the custom ease keyframes are locked with the other keyframes??
Any help would be greatly appreciated..
    Thanks,

    Hello,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
You should be able to control your RS-232 port and DAQ card independently. If you are doing a continuous buffered analog acquisition, then your board should be acquiring analog data continuously regardless of what commands are being sent out on the RS-232 port.
I imagine that this is a software timing issue. I would recommend that in your code that you configure and start your analog acquisition before you even start the stage's movement. After you have determined that you are acquiring data, you should send commands to stage to begin its movement. After all of the stages movements are complete, you will want to stop and clear your analog input measurement. This will ensure that you will acquire all
of the data for all of the movements of the stage.

  • CS3 Motion Tween Problem

    Hello all
I have been developing a game using flash CS3. It involves a
variety of objects, movieclips, buttons and motion tweens and a
whole bunch of actionscript. The development has been coming along
very nicely and I havent been experiencing many problems, until
now. I was close to finishing the game (with everything running
smoothly) and suddenly, the motion tweens on certain objects have
become broken. instead of smoothly tweening the object flickers
from on position to the next.
This all happened after absolutely no changes had been made
to the game source (.fla) file. What is strange is that even my
previous versions of the game (dating weeks prior to this point) ar
now experiencing the same flickering on motion tweens as in the
    current version.
So, I have come to the conclusion that this is the result of
perhaps a corrupt flash settings file. When I log off my PC (with
windows XP Pro)and log back in to the same machine as a different
user, the problem was solved!! horray.... that only lasted for a
day though. Soon the same problem began again under the different
    user.
    Can anyone help me out?
    Thanks for the help,
    Codie

My suggestion is to make sure you are using the current
version of Flash Player. If that doesn't work, try finding a legacy
version fo the Flash Player (since it used to work). If the legacy
version solves the issue, contact Adobe and submit a bug.
Personally I've never had such an issue. It is possible to delete
your preferences. If I remember right, they are located in both
your registry and on your hard drive. I don't recall where to find
the things you need to delete, and I remember I had a hard time
finding that information. Sorry I can't be more help.

  • Why do Motion Tweens fail when tested?

I have created a motion tween in CS4 that works perfectly when scrubbing with the playhead. However, when testing, the motion tween fails yet the rest of the animation plays perfectly. Does anybody know of any issues that could cause this?

    Ned:
Thanks for sticking with me through this. Yes, I'm aware tweens are not new. It is the new way that Motion tweens are implemented in CS4 that I am talking about, not what are now known as classic tweens. Anyway, I figured it out and for the sake of the next Flasher that experiences this issue, I'd like to explain how it got solved. I have rarely developed a Flash project where I animated on the timeline. I always did my animation programatically and used only the first frame of the timeline to make everything happen. This meant that dynamically loading symbols and assets from the library required instantiating and loading these assets with actionscript and linking.
For example, if I had a movie clip named thisMC_mc in the library, I would export it to actionscript under the properties menu and give it a class name such as ThisMC. From there, in the document class I would tell Flash I was going to use it at some point by instantiating it at the top of the class like so:
    public var thismc:thisMC = new thisMC();
Once this was done it was in scope and I could load and manipulate the movieClip at any time using the name thismc.
So, why did my Motion tweens fail on this project. Well, there were times I would place a library symbol on the stage at authoring time and since it was already on the stage, I did not need to instantiate it as shown above. I just needed to make sure it had an instance name in the properties inspector. And because I did everything from the first frame of the timeline, the MovieClip remained in scope. With this project, I just thought that principle followed through to other frames on the timeline as well. If they were placed on any frame during authoring time I figured they were in scope of the document class.
Apparently, this is not the case. because the tweens would not function when testing. As soon as I started thinking in programatic animation terms, the first thing I did was to instantiate the tweened MovieClips in the document class as shown above. The tweens started working like a charm. This probably occurred because there are event listeners and code in the document class associated with the tweened MovieClips.
I can only assume this issue has to do with scope and that I missed it because I rarely use more than one frame for animation so I wasn't thinking about it correctly.
If anybody can shed more light on exactly what went on it would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, I actually like the new way of doing motion tweens in CS4. It only took a little studying and it all made sense. They are actually easier to set up and I love the fact that you only need to work with one instance all the way through the tween and the tween is not broken up by a bunch of keyframes. I have found that most hardcore Flashers complain about something everytime a new version is released. Mostly just because they are used to the current version and now they are out of their comfort zone. CS4 is a major change but now that I've been working in it for about two months I don't want to go back to any earlier versions. So go ahead and upgrade, once you get use to it I think you'll love it.

  • How do I create 2 motion tweens for one line of text?  the text needs to "fly-in-right", I can do that,

how do I create 2 motion tweens for one line of text?  the text needs to "fly-in-right", I can do that, then it needs to "fly-out-bottom" again, I can do that, but not on the same line of text...any ideas...

    my question
1- there is any way to assign the Fetch process to specific region so the process take all item in these region only.
2- how can create manual process to fetch row into specific items in page ( i tray these code
    SELECT col1, col2, col3 ....
    INTO :P1_ITEM1, :P1_ITEM, :P1_ITEM...
    FROM table
WHERE id = :P_id ) but no data retrieve .
I do not think that it is possible to have more than one Automated Row Fetch process in a given page. See the thread:
ORA-01403: no data found : Unable to fetch row multiple automated row fetch
On your second question, the manual process should work provided:
P_ID has a value when the process executes. You can do it this way:
    i. Make this process as a on-load After/Before header process
ii. Make sure that P_ID page item has value when the process executes (set it from another page or before the pl/sql process executes)
