Has Motion been used in any movies/TV Spots/ads? Is it considered a professional tool like AE?

What the Fox said. ( my question I believe fox!) sort of although it wasn't that complicated.
I don't think i did build the replicator myself, It think i used the built in one, Library -> replicators ->Transitional -> Dots In Left etc. No point reinventing the wheel.
I did mess around with the sequence replicator to get it more even though.
Once I got the replicator working I probably exported it as a movie and then imported that to use as the mask. That's just me I don't like to many moving parts in a project. Another way would have been to create a Clone of the replicating layer and use that where needed.
I didn't use the mask to remove the image, I simply had a black solid above it and revealed that. And then another footage layer above that, etc etc. The effect looks more complicated because sometimes the footage being revealed changes mid flow.
ll quite simply really. The reason why we did this was because we didn't have any footage, and the stuff we did have the artiste didn't like, so we had to try and disguise it.
In answer to your other question, yes all titling is done in Motion. even the 3D stuff. I used to build 3D titles in Cheetah 3D and export movies into Motion. Then I discovered Element 3D, which was great , After Effects only sadly. But now we have mObject from motionVFX which is great and motion 5.0 all the way.

Has Premier Pro (any version) been used in any hollywood or famous movies? Also can anyone name any movies that have used After Effects. in particular can you also name the scene in the movie in which it was used?
My undxerstanding is that the main editing product for the pro's is Avid in version or another but is there any major releases that have used Premier instead?

Motion 3 - Motion Tracking and Match Move

Hi, I have no problem learning how to use motion tracking or match move because there's plenty of tutorials online. My question is, if let's say i motion tracked a clip to my original clip and half way through the movie an obstacle comes into the position where my motion tracked clip is. How do i make is so the obstacle appears in front of the motion tracked clip?
For example, take apple's motion 3 sample video.

The place where they put the GPS clip, if while the girl is driving she moves her hand in front of the GPS. How would we make it so that her hand appears in front of the GPS not behind it?

If I am understanding you correctly, it sounds like you are asking how to have an object that is part of the background layer appear in front of an object that you are going to composite in an match-move.
The only way to do that is to duplicate the background layer and move it in front of the layer you are bringing in, then create a mask around the portion of layer you want to keep (in the example you provide - the girl's hand).
You would have to go frame-by-frame and animate the mask to follow her hand - very time consuming but I don't see any other way.

HT1351 my ipod classic will no longer sync any movies on latest version of itunes --- why?

Unfortunately, the error message gives no details about what codec might be missing or what it needs.
If the file can't be opened in QT, it only means you cannot use the QT "Inspector" window to check what compression formats were used to create the file. It does not mean you can't use the Finder "Information" window to check on the compression formats or use a third party media information window (e.g., like VLC which will open many compression formats not supported natively by QT) to determine what kind of data is included in the MOV wrapper. If the file cannot be opened in any app, it is usually a good sign that the file itself is corrupted.
It's a stupid error message. Apple should do better than that.
Error trapping is quite extensive but there are still many areas which require human oversight. The message is telling you that either the container has a problem (e.g., not properly terminated, non-standard, or corrupted) or that one or more of the compression formats used is not supported by your current codec component configuration or that the data was encoded using non-standard settings or preferences not supported by QT or that the fourCC code does not match the data contained in the file or that there are timecode inconsistencies, etc., etc., etc. In short there are a near infinite number of possible problems for which it would be very difficult/nearly impossible to program error trapping depending on your sourcing of content and how you process it before it reaches the player app. Think of it like trying to play a BD disc in an DVD player.
I'll call Apple support when I get a chance.
Chances are good that they will end up sending you back here. In any case, it is often a good idea to post a sample file for examination by other QT users. At the very least, they should be able to tell you if the sample file will play on other systems which would indicate whether or not the file itself is bad and under the best of circumstances whould allow them to examing the file in detail for various common problems.

Just upgraded to Lion and can no longer import any .mov files ("file not supported") to 3.1.3. Also can no longer view any .mov or .mp4 files already in library.

Have been using Aperture 3.1.3 with no problems. Importing from a Nikon D80 (RAW & JPEG), Casio (.MOV) and Flip (.mp4). Could import and view all videos without issue prior to Lion upgrade. After Lion installation, can no longer import .mov files (get "file not supported" error) or even view any .mov or .mp4 files currently in library (even though thumbnail is present). Can watch the .mov files directly on my camera using Quicktime in Finder but can't even drag & drop that file into Aperture. Anybody else having similar problems?

Still no resolution and Geniuses at store could not assist. Unfortunately, it looks like not all the applications were ready to support the Lion operating system. We could not import any .mov files, could no longer view any .mov files already in my Aperture library and could not email any .mov files. Totally frustrated. Use Aperture almost daily and can't lose the video functionality. Was also running dog-slow. Constantly looking at the spinning wheel. Geniuses suggested that I wipe out hard drive and reinstall Snow Leopard. Had full backup on external drive with Time Machine.
Not an easy process though...had to reinstall several times (at 5 hours each time) because I continued to have issues. Finally figured out that I needed to delete every backup file from Time Machine on external drive from the date I installed Lion because some of the hidden files were still migrating back to Snow Leopard.
I had to:
1. Delete all time machine backup files from date/time of Lion installation forward
2. Do "clean" installation of Snow Leopard (wiped hard drive using disk utility and booted with Snow Leopard disc)
3. Chose option to reinstall from backup off Time Machine which eventually got me back to Snow Leopard desktop
4. Deleted Aperture program and reinstalled (I had to install Aperture 2 and then install Aperture 3 upgrade.
5. Reinstalled iLife apps
5. Applied all Apple updates available (again this took a few hours because there were several updates from Snow Leopard's original release plus Aperture 3 and other application updates)
Still doing some tweaking on some of my other apps but got everything back to where I originally was. Now plan to wait on a few version updates from Lion before reinstalling.
I am one of Apple's biggest fans, but was very disappointed in the fact that I lost functionality in one of their own pieces of software (which I use the most!) by installing Lion.

Background posting in MIGO using 501 E movement type

Hi Experts,
I do have a requirement in which I have to post excess quantity to same batch , storage location and under same grid value by movement type 501 E after posting with 101 movement type is done.
I do need that after creation of a PO .
I have to do MIGO ,GR wrt PO by movement type 101.
Let PO Quantity(goitem-bsmng) be 100.
But when entered quantity in delivery note(150 ) is more than over delivery PO tolerance quantity(110) ,
then 110 should be posted as under movement type 101
and remaining 40 quantity should be posted to same storage location , batch and grid value under movement type 501 E and that too in background.
Any one if face the same situation , please help me out.

See that Mvt 311 is trf betwn st.loc to st.loc, where the goods are not leaving any valuation area, hence there's no value change, which means Accounting Documents are not created as they are not necessary.

Moved ??? file and imovie no longer opens any movies

Hi, I hope someone can help. While trying to reduce file size I did a search (using finder) and came across a file with the filename ??? in my imovie folder. I removed it to the trash and imovie would no longer open any of my movies. I took it out of the trash and put it on the desktop where two other files suddenly appeared (named media and cache). I am assuming that I inadvertently moved a program file that is used to search for clips when opening imovie (when we try to open it we get the message that multiple clips are missing). Can anyone advise how I can get this file back to where it was before I moved it?

So this is follow up from my debarkle with the EDD. I found out my problem with copying files from Mac to EDD and vice versa was a result of a not so good EDD ( i had an apollo hard drive from imation) that was not very compatible with macs. So i did my research and found out that the best hard drives were Western Digital and Seagate. I bought the newest western digital EDD 1TB and formated it to FAT32 and guess what...no problems so far. The only problem is that FAT32 format doesn't copy files larger than about 4 gigs so i couldnt copy a movie from my brothers computer onto my EDD that was 1080p. You could probably resolve that by partitioning a small part of your hard drive in ExFAT? but yeah, hopefully that helped guys.

The table it_missing is just a quicky solution, you could use a table with just one field or use write to print the result.
