Motion won't open/launch

Hello, I've seen other folks with this issue here but haven't been able to fix it yet.
I've just upgraded from an imac to a mac pro and reinstalled everything from a time machine backup. Now Motion won't launch/Final cut won't open existing files/I can't import Motion files in Final cut project.
Regarding motion: the program just fails to launch and I receive an alert. Opening the console and trying to launch I get this...

I have looked in the "PrivateFrameworks" folder and both "Helium" and "Livetype" frameworks are there.
Is my only hope reinstalling FCS2?

I used migration assistant.
I've also called tech support which suggested I reinstall so I did. Now everything seems to be running properly so far:-)
Thanks for your help, I've learned that migration assistant doesn't really help for FCS but still saved me time with my other programs.

HELP!!: Motion won't open.

Since downloading the 3.0.1 update, Motion won't open. Even after I reinstalled, nothing. Remove preferences and all the good stuff.
What gives?!?!

I'm on a new MBP with MBP Software Update 1.0: Can't use Motion 3 (it crashes all the time).
I'm not on the mood of reinstaling OS X and FCS 2 again. I don't have the time nor the patience.
Can anybody tell me WHY APPLE HAVEN'T FIXED THE PROBLEM?? I don't know, could they publish some kind of patch or update??? At least some kind of "undo" to uninstall that problematic MBP Software Update...
Since it is a problem Apple knows by July 13, 2007 (article ID 306038) I don't understand they haven't done anything aboutit !
Or is everybody at Apple on vacation or playing around with their new iPhones???
They should know that Pro Users are having big problems with this piece of s... software called Motion.

Application and Installer won't open/launch on iMac (Maxon Cinema 4D) help!

This is a strange one. I have an application that refuses to open.
I've bought an iMac 24" Intel 3.06Ghz (not the brand new one, but a 2008 model). Everything works fantastically, but I'm having a problem with one particular application - Maxon Cinema 4D (R9.012). I realise this is an older version of Cinema 4D (they are now up to R11), but I have some 3D projects built in the older version that do not convert nicely when opened in the more recent versions. So, on some rare occasions, I need to open the older version to render a particular image successfully, etc.
But, I am finding that it won't open, and neither will the original VISE installer for the application. I don't believe this is an Intel compatibility problem, as I also have the use of an almost identical iMac 24" Intel 2.4Ghz (identical, obviously apart from the screen size and processor/graphics card) and the version of Cinema 4D R9.012 that won't open on my home computer DOES open fine on this computer. So, I am left bemused.
When I say that the application won't load, what happens when I double-click is that the dock momentarily expands, as if the app icon is about to appear, but nothing surfaces and the dock immediately goes back to it's normal self.

I've tried resetting the PRAM, to no avail.
I'm now lost as to what to try next. I've never encountered an app/installer refusing to open, without seeing some kind of warning or dialogue box.

In case anybody comes across this same problem, a fresh Leopard installatino solved the problem.
I migrated my iMac to another iMac, installed Leopard afresh, and voila, I was able to install Cinema 4D now! I then migrated my iMac back again, and everything seems to be fine now.

Siri won't open/launch any of the apps on my iPad 3 (IOS7). Siri responds to almost any other commands except this. By the way, my iPad is not jail broken. Please help.

Siri does not recognize my apps and won't open them. Every time I asked Siri to open an app, e.g. Facebook, it responds with, "You don't seem to have an app named Facebook." I have an iPad 3 using IOS 7 and is not jailbroken. Please help. I appreciate it. Thank you.

I'm also experiencing the same problem. I've seen a supposed fix by deleting 2 files /var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-045.csstore.bak
/var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.mobile.installation.plist
I believe the above solution is for jail broken phones, and mine is NOT.

Lightroom won't open/launch

When I try to launch lightroom 4.3, I get an error saying, "the lightroom catalog named lightroom 4 catalog cannot be opened because another application already has it open. Quit the other copy of lightroom before trying to launch." I've opened task manager and lightroom is not running, but I keep getting this error message. Please help!

Use your operating system to search for files ending with *.LRCAT, that is the catalog file; delete the .lock file in whatever folder it is in

Acrobat Reader X Won't Open/Launch

Hello All,
I have a user running Windows XP Pro (fully patched) and has had Reader X installed for some time - yesterday the user attempted to open a PDF, but Reader would not open. I've been digging into this issue since then. The box is clean, no virus/malware infection. I have uninstalled (and completely removed all Adobe directories) Reader X and reinstalled (rebooting as well) several times with no success - Reader simply wll not open ... this has been tested with all antivirus software completely disabled as well. I've also attempted to launch Reader X within a new profile on the box, no change.
Any advice on what the issue could be / how to rectify it?

Hi Kenneth, I am having this same issue but I am in a domain controlled environment. What I discovered is that I had to go to the actual exe file in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe then right click on the exe, run as local administrator. Then I got a pop-up talking about this protected mode that I have seen in other places. I chose to ALWAYS open with protected mode disabled. Then my reader opened and worked perfectly. UNTIL I closed it and tried to open it again as my user. My problem is that I can't even get to the settings as my user to be able to disable protected mode. It seems the setting change is user to user not system wide. I hope this helps. Hopefully though I can get some help on being able to disable protected mode for the whole system. I currently can't find a registry key...there must be one!!

Template page opens but when I select a template I get the spinning beach ball of death and then quits. Try to open new project same result.

Motion won't open on my new mac book pro

I just bought a new MBP and successfully installed final cut studio, when i try to open Motion, i get the typical opening screen that asks if i want to create a new project, open an existing one, etc. When i choose new project, Motion all of a sudden closes. The studio software that I am installing is the old FCP 5.0 (as oppposed to 5.1), everything else (FCP, soundtrack, DVDSP) seem to be functioning fine. Anyone else have a similar experience?

"fine" maybe, but far from optimal ! are you running them under rosetta? Greg, you need to get the crossgrade to the Universal Binary version, the pricepoint of which, at the moment, is a steal. at the moment you're using your laptop thoroughbred like a donkey ... still, to return to the question, you might want to check the "Get Info" properties of the Motion application ... see if it is flagged to "Open using Rosetta" that may possibly help

Motion won't open - my mistake with fxplug

I know what he problem is here but I really don't know how to fix it. Using FCS2 ( which had been installed over FCS1) , compressor wasn't working so I deleted it and qmaster like the support file said and reinstalled. However things went wrong during the reinstallation so I decided it was time to reinstall the entire studio. Wanting to clear out as much of the old junk as possible I went thought the system library and removed everything I thought was associated with FCS. ( I know this is generally a very bad idea but I have done this before when necessary and thought I knew what I was doing) Anyway I reinstalled the and now everything works except motion. It doesn't start up and I checked the crash log and came up with this.

So I am missing the Fxplug framework which I am nearly positive I deleted under the assumption that it would be reinstalled with motion. It appears to not be there now. Is this a system wide framework? Can I reapply the 10.4.10 combo update and get it back? Is it on the FCS2 discs? WIll that fix my problem? I really don't wanna do a system wipe. Any ideas?

I'm having a similar problem. Both my Motion and compression applications are not launching. every time I double click the icons I get the message," The application Motion (or compression) quit unexpectedly. mac OS X and other applications are not affected". First it was just my Motion application that was Displaying the quitting notice, and now that I tried reinstalling the my whole Final cut studio 2 program and now my compression application is doing the same thing. I was going to uninstall the whole final cut studio 2 program before reinstalling it, but I don't know how to go about uninstalling, and I don't even know if doing that would even help. I did install an "FX factory" thing I think is it was called, for final cut pro, just to see how it would work with editing my videos and I didn't find any use for it. so I tried my best to take it off my computer..
hopping maybe you have some advice on how to get my applications working properly?
It would be appriciated.
Oh and I'm running a Mac book pro, ( Mac OS X 10.4.10)

Motion won't open new project, won't open utility window in old project

When I try to open Motion from the dock, it gives the license information, but no project opens...it just stays with that opening window.
When I try to open an old project, there is no utility window (no file browser, library, or inspector).
Help!

I tried to do that before, but I couldn't find that plist on the Macintosh HD icon. As per your instructions, I later found that plist file in my home (i.e. 'user') folder.

Final Cut Pro, Soundtrack Pro and Motion won't open.

Hey Guys. For some reason when I click on the desktop icons for these packages nothing happens. They were working fine for ages. I have Final Cut Studio 2.
Can anyone please help as I have a major project coming up and I am pulling my hair out

Either open FCP and call up each program individually and either note the splash screen or go to "About ...... motion, color, etc"
Or find each individual application in the directory where it resides and in column mode click on the .app and note which version it is..

Appleworks bounces once, but won't open/launch.

All of a sudden I cannot open Appleworks or use the application. I tried removing preferances. Unfortunately I am away from home on business and don't have the disk to reinstall.

You said you deleted the AppleWorks preferences, but I wonder if you deleted all the necessary one. Take a look at my user tip, AppleWorks has stopped working correctly, for the specifics. There are four separate files in two locations that must be deleted at the same time & then AppleWorks must be restarted.
If that doesn't work, it could be more of an OS issue than an AppleWorks one. So, the first thing I suggest is repairing permissions using Disk Utility. Then, unless you leave your Mac on 24/7 & not asleep, run a utility to run the UNIX cron routines & clean caches. Two free ones are YASU & OnyX. I prefer YASU as it is impossible to accidentally delete something your System needs. The only thing I would check that is not checked by default is the font cache.
Also, make sure your hard drive isn't too full. It depends on how you use your computer, but for most normal users a minimum of 5 gigs free space at all times after installation is recommended. Power users may need more.
If this still doesn't work, repairing your hard drive with Disk Utility may help. Start up your Mac from the first Panther instal disk. Then, instead of running the installer, go to the Installer menu & choose Disk Utility. Select your hard drive in the left-hand panel & click Repair Disk. When it is done, quit Disk Utility then quit Installer & restart your Mac.
There really is only one solution to the Recent Items bug - removing the aliases.

Firefox won't open / launch on my mac

I have a Macbook Pro I purchased new this summer (2014). I installed the latest version of Firefox in July 2014 and it worked fine for over 2 months. Suddenly, Firefox no longer opens. It flashes like it's opened a window but nothing shows. I created a new user profile and it worked fine on the new profile, and gradually Firefox is having the same problem on each user profile I create. Please help!

In the notifications on my mac, it says I can download an update for Firefox version 32.0.3...but when I click on that notification to do so, it slides back off the screen and doesn't install.

My "os" is windows 8.1
When I clicked on the PHOTOSHOP 13 executable the photo editor popped up
along with an install option. Then I clicked install and then a update
failed message popped up. (I've attached a screen shot photo of that) Then
I clicked on error log and a "please quit and try again error code" message
popped up. (I've also attached a screen shot photo of that as well) so
after all that I closed everything and restarted my computer and clicked on
the PHOTOSHOP 13 executable again and it went straight to the photo editor
not the welcome screen (where I can choose either organizer or photo
editor)... why isn't there a welcome screen like before?
When I clicked on the executable for PREMIERE 13 there was two executable
options.. one that was labeled (PREMIERE 13 exe) and another that was
labeled just (PREMIERE exe) without the "13" so first I clicked on PREMIERE
13 exe and it took me to the welcome screen so then I clicked on video
editor the new project but nothing happened. ... the loading bar moves then
stops. So after that I closed it and went back to click the PREMIERE exe
and it took me straight to the video editor, again no welcome screen (were
i can choose either organizer or video editor) just like the photoshop....
so in the end I am able to click on the executable options for both
photoshop 13 and premiere and it takes me straight to the editor but
without the welcome screen...
Clicking on the shortcut icons on my desk top still won't launch though....
So does this mean it's working because clicking on the executable options
takes me straight to the editor? Or is something still not right because
the program won't open/launch when i click on the desktop shortcuts and
welcome screen won't pop up when clicking on executable options?
