Motion XML to opticalflow slow

Hello,
It`s possible to write a Motion XML and make it like a "filter" in Final Cut Pro to change the frame blending on a clip to OpticalFlow?
I`m asking this because when you do a slowmotion (change speed) on a clip in Final Cut Pro sequence and it appears to flick (mostly because the sequence is HDV and this particular clip is DV) the only method that I could found to solve that is to send that clip to motion, entering on the proprieties tab and changing frame blending mode to OpticalFlow, saving and quitting motion. As you can see is veeeeery mechanical process and you don`t have to do anything different.
Has anyone found a solution using the Motion XML ou anything like it?
Regards

Thanks for the suggestion Sue.
Sorry for the delayed response.
I have never heard of it, but will be sure to check it out!
I finally have some time tomorrow to delve into my video footage. I'm looking forward to exploring Deinterlacer.
Thanks again, for the welcome and the advice.

    You probably don't really need 1080 at 60 for your finished projects but since you're just starting out with Motion, you need to lower your expectations. A long way. 1080 is about 2 million pixels per frame, DV is only about 400,000. That's not just five times as many pixels for the Mac to track; everything in video is exponential.
    Explore the training tutorials available by Mark Spencer. You will get an idea of how his super powerful machine reacts with the software.
    Adding a light roughly doubles the processing time over flat scenes. Two lights increases processing again. Reflections require processing the lights and then calculating the reflections so add another quarter of the time required for flat scenes. Add camera movement, motion blur, and depth of field and you need exponentially more processing time for every frame. The preload of renders into RAM is one of the cooler features of Motion, as comapred to After Effects, but that takes tons of time, to.
    Try working in ye olde DV resolution for a few days. Get to know the software's limitations and what gets imposed by your Macintosh. Step up to 720p/30 and see how things slow down.

  • What are skewX and skewY in Motion XML?

    In the motion XML, what is skewX and skewY? The spec says "shearing along X" and "shearing along Y". However, according to my research, equal shearing along X and Y does not result in rotation(although that's what the spec says about skewX and skew Y)
    Can skewX and skewY be represented by a transformation matrix? If so, what is it?

    more info
    Rotation is actually a result of a combination of scaling and skewing. Together, scaling and skewing can distort coordinates to provide a rotation.
    note a scale is represented by
    [a 0 0]
    [0 d 0]
    [0 0 1]
    where a is an xScale an d is a yScale.
    and this leads us to a roation means we must modify a, b, c, d
    and is in fact represented by
    [ cos   sin  0]
    [-sin   cos  0]
    [  0      0   1]

  • Motion 3 rendering and Slow time Soooo frustrating..

    Hello, I recently upgraded to Motion 3. I have all my programs closed and am running a 2g 2.16mgz mac book pro. I have it attached to 1 monitor. my question is what is it that I am doing that is making it run soo slow that I want to punch the screen. I have the resolution turned down to third. I did all the other things people said to do to make it run quicker (reduce the time line....) And still even once I do a ram preview and then I go to play it, it runs sooo slow and then I just wind up having to do a preview again. I have a really important project do and I cant let this happen. How do I get it to run like it doesn't take the small bus to school??? WHen I bought the upgrade (oh yeah I even did the online upgrade as well) I was told at the store my computer would have no problem handling it. So what is it that is causing this?

    I did that still running like molasseses. Even when I go to click on something in the time line to adjust the time.....wheel........then I click it and highlight it.....wheel..... then move it......wheel.....then go to play it.......choppy then render preview.....wheel...then render preview again and try to play back.....wheel...then it plays...then I go to click another piece in the time line and the circle continues. I am surprised that apple would release a product knowing there are problems like this

  • Motion 5 working very slow

    I am working on a Mid 2010 iMac with 8gb RAM and the normal Graphics Card and the proram is painfully slow
    I am working in 3D
    can anyone offer me some advice
    I know I need to upgrade the RAM and this will help but should I change the graphics card as well?

    To bake something is to export and then bring it back into the project or into another project.
    Export (ProRes 4444 the layer(s) that is slowing your computer down. Import that back into your project and turn the layers you export off. Me... I open a new project and export that and bring it bring that into the project I'm working on. (I don't want my main project to crash.)
    Here's an example... I made a 3D coin in Motion. I used the replicator to make the 3D coin. I exported the 3D coin to ProRes 4444. Imported that into the project for this example.
    I have a very fast iMac and the replictor slowed down my computer.
    3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
    16GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 4x4GB
    2TB Serial ATA Drive + 256GB Solid State Drive
    AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5
    I don't think there a fast enough Mac to slove your problem...even a MacPro.

    Has anyone any suggestions od speeding up the iterator in IE ?

    Hi,
    I suggest you test the issue with no add-on first.
    Check Internet Explorer Add-Ons
    =========================
    1. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
    2. Click the "Programs" tab, and then click Manage Add-ons.
    3. Select an add-on in the Name list, and then click Disable.
    4. Restart IE with Add-ons and check the issue again.

  • Render xml.. too slow !!!

    so:
    I have a servlet , this servlet is divided in tree great sub-functions
    - getPost() gets data from POST
    - loadData() loads data inside the Object building a DOM
    - render() take from every class the xml ( in cascade) and then do a render
    the problem is in this last step.
    (the application permits to do operations with a database SQL so, shows 'n' records with some buttons for edit, add etc....)
    - getPost() 0.0 seconds
    - loadData() 0.390 seconds
    - render() 1.976 seconds
    obviously the problem is in the render function
    And here I do my question :
    how can I reduce the computing time for rendering ?
    how can taglibs help me ? ( if it can )
    thanks

    - sorry, I can't show you a lot of code because of the copyrights :)
    I can tell you how it works ...
    the render(Document xml) takes the xml Document and renders it with and xsl pre-setted ...that's all
    - yes, I'm using XSLT
    - yes the profiles says that the problem is here
    there isn't another 'custom' method inside the render() :
    Transformer transformerXsl =
    factory.newTransformer(new StreamSource(new File(xslPath)));
    transformerXsl.transform(source, htmlStream);
    the bottleneck is here ... :(

  • Employee W2 XML Interface EXTREMELY slow

    The Employee W2 XML Interface on about 2,500 employees is running extremely slowly. I kicked it off at 1 p.m., Saturday Dec. 8. It is still not complete.
    This is a test system where we are preparing for year-end processes. I have completed the Year End Pre-Process fine.
    Is anyone else experiencing this?

    Just now figured out that even the XML Output is not correct. It has some data with the content "
    The XML page cannot be displayed
    Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
    Only one top level element is allowed in an XML document. Error processing resource "
    How to fix the XML first?? Please any help is really appreciable.

  • Converting a ResultSet to XML (mysql) - very slow - need some criticism

    Preface:
    I have some data being inserting into a mySQL table every 5 minutes. Currently, there are about 275 rows. Each row has 26 (TEXT) columns, the data in those columns is no longer than 10-15 characters.
    I am using the following code to turn this data into XML which is then, through a servlet, output on a webserver. With 275 rows, this is taking around 3-4 minutes to generate the XML file. I am worried that in a week from now when the data is over 2,000 rows it will exponentially decrease in speed. Can someone give me a better route so this will run faster?
             String xml = "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"utf-8\"?>\n\n";
           String SQLCommand = "select * from "+getDataId()+";";
           try{
                Statement stmt;
                ResultSet rs;
               String url = "jdbc:mysql://"+getIBoxIp()+":"+getDbPort()+"/"+getDbName();
               Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection(url,getDbUsername(), getDbPassword());
                    stmt = con.createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE, ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY);
                    rs = stmt.executeQuery(SQLCommand);
                    while(rs.next()){
                      xml += "\n<row>";
                      ResultSetMetaData md = rs.getMetaData();
                      for(int i = 1; i < md.getColumnCount() + 1; i++){
                           xml += "\n\t<" + md.getColumnName(i) + ">" + rs.getString(i) + "</" + md.getColumnName(i) + ">";
                      xml += "\n</row>\n";
                    System.out.println("@@mysql> XMLSQLCommand > " + SQLCommand);
               con.close();
               return xml;
           }catch(Exception ex)
                System.out.println("@@mysql> SQLCommand Failed > " + SQLCommand + "\n@@mysql> Exception > " + ex.getMessage() + "");
                return xml;
           }Again, with 275 rows, I'm getting about 250 KB of data in the resulting XML file with a 3-5 minute parsing/generation time.
    Thanks in advance!!!

    No, it's a good question. The page I linked to does say
    "Instead of XMLWriter, this driver uses David Megginsons other public domain writer program, DataWriter..."
    So yeah, trying to track down Megginson's code might not be such a good idea. But the sentence quoted does suggest what should be used instead: XMLWriter. Which implies that XMLWriter was mentioned somewhere earlier in the book.
    So, following the "Prev" links to previous pages, eventually I found XMLWriter discussed a couple of pages earlier, where it says
    "More specifically, Im going to use David Megginsons public domain com.megginson.sax.XMLWriter class."
    I don't really find this very satisfactory as advice for beginners, so I somewhat regret doing that. It's a long time since I looked at that page myself. But it does have a link pointing to http://www.megginson.com/downloads/, where it is possible to download the Java version of XMLWriter. I'm not sure if the OP is comfortable with using downloaded software, but that download is the simplest possible Java download so it might be a good place to start.
    You could recommend using a DOM strategy, and JDOM might be a good choice, but if you can just generate the XML straight from your input, it's a better strategy to do that rather than building a DOM tree in memory and then serializing it, in my opinion.

  • Data Flow | XML Source | Very Slow with big files (over 1/2 a gig)

    hi
    I am trying to load a few XML files to a database. one of our proprietary systems load the file in 3-4 minutes however with ssis XML source file it takes over an hour.
    can anyone know the reason/help with this?
    I tried the delayValidation set to true with no success.

    Parsing XML files as data sources in SSIS is not the most efficient. Remember that you have define a WSDL (aka structure of the input file) and once the XML source starts parsing the input file, it has to read every node at every level and make sure it conforms
    to the structure defined in the WSDL file before it can start streaming the data out to the downstream components in your workflow.
    A half-gig XML file with 150 nodes to parse is going to need some heavy-lifting behind the scenes before you start seeing the rows streamed out. I'd rather recommend that you use either inbuilt .Net classes for XML to parse and extract the data or leverage
    SQL scripting to accomplish that. Alternatively, if your upstream system can instead drop the data feed in a flat file format, that'd be more preferable. And if you could hook into their data streaming APIs/end-points directly, that'll work too.
    Hope this gets you started in finding the right approach.

  • Slow-Motion/Fast-Motion.

    Just wondering if there is a way to gradually slow down a clip from keyframe to keyframe, as in add a gradual slow motion from one point to another not just an immediate slow down and that being the same speed between the two points.
    Also is there a way to do this for fast-motion as opposed to slow-motion?

    If you are referring to the Time Remap filter (...thanks Ian...) you can see the result only in the canvas: make sure you +always render+ the clip after applying or changing parameters, in order to see the final quality (without rendering, you can get very unusual results... even with RT Unlimited).

  • Movie is choppy in slow motion...

    Hi there,
    I'm using iMovie HD for movies from my Canon MiniDV Camcorder. Importing and cutting works fine, quality of movie/sound is ok.
    After, I use iDVD to burn DVDs from my own movies, works fine too. My only problem: Slow Motion!
    When applying slow motion to a piece of movie, it is very choppy. When burned to DVD and watching it on tv, still the same thing.
    I'm using a G4 1700mhz, 1gb Ram. What could my problem be?
    Thanks alot for any ideas!
    -Lucas

    Hi Lucas,
    there's a simple technical reason: to get a smooth video, you need 25/30 frames per second, so does your camcorder record the video...
    apply a slow-mo just doubles (triples...) the frames - in result, you have 12 or less fps... that is choppy...

    Is it possible to do a super slow motion with Motion? If so, how? < </div>
    Start with the manual and searching the online help system. Also search here and the creativecow.net for links to some fabulous Motion tutorials.
    Super slow motion is not necessarily available, the term is relative. If you're shooting 30fps, you ahve only 30 discrete slices of each second and, even with advanced tools and lots of processing time, you can only expect to get mediocre slow motion. If you are shooting 120fps you have the temporal resolution, the basis, to process buttery smooth slow motion.
