Moto Droid issues

I have been having problems with buttons pressing when im on a call. The funny thing is that the screen is black when its happening and my face isnt completely touching the phone. I also do not hold the phone with my shoulder/face either, which is what the Verizon store insists i must be doing. So I call in to tech support in which they have me reset my phone to factory settings. NOW... i dont get 3G AT ALL!! My calls drop frequently and i'm lucky to get 1 bar with 1X service. I have a support tag in with verizon since friday night, still no luck with better service. And yes, im still hitting buttons when on a phone call. BTW, i literally was touching the black screen with my finger while on a call and it was pressing the 5 button, even though when i take the phone away from my face so the screen lights up, the dialpad is'nt even pulled up! Does anyone have this problem at all! the lady at the verizon store says its how i hold the phone, I say phooey on that!

You hate to see people having problems, BUT it helps confirm you aren't going crazy and you're not alone! On my Droid X, I will be on a call and the screen goes black and the connection is lost, even though I had 3 bars of service. I have also been on a call and tried to hang up by touching the red end call button and it doesn’t respond. A little disappointing I must say. I cannot believe Verizon will not take ownership of the problem. Even if you accidently touch the screen with your face, it shouldn’t go black. I will try downloading Screen Suite and see if that helps.

  • Selling a Moto Droid question......

If  I sell my Moto Droid can anyone buy it and activate it even tho I am still under contract? Would the phone be free and clear for whoever buys it?

they'll have to have a data plan or i don't believe verizon will let them activate it. if they have the $29.99 plan (or are willing to add it) then you should be able to just go into the store and have them active it. if the phone will be disconnected and you have no past due balances or any other issues with vzn (and i'm assuming it's not stolen or been reported as lost), then you can advertise it as a moto droid with a "clean esn." this will let buyers know that they'll have no problems activating it. i think you can even get the esn # (either off the phone or from zvn) so a potetial buyer can verify with verizon that it's clean.

  • Suggestions please: upgrade my Moto Droid to ?

I have had my Moto Droid since day 1, and am thinking about upgrading it to something newer.  A friend has a Thunderbolt and loves it, but he has to carry a spare battery in his pocket just to get thru the day.  Dont want to do that, but like his phone....  Any suggestions?
    Droid Charge?
    Wait for Droid 3?
    Wait for Bionic?
    Anything better?
    Thanks!!!!!

    Don't need/have access to 4g: Droid 3 most definitely.
Need/Want 4g: get an HTC Thunderbolt and buy the extended battery (the extended battery for this model is roughly double the standard life, instead of the usual +50% life batteries) or wait for the Bionic.
Alternately get an Xperia Play for stock android + VIDYA GAEMS! >_> <_< >_>

  • Switching from MOTO Droid to Droid X

I have a motorola droid and recently purchased a Droid X via online using my sisters upgrade because my upgrade wouldn't be until late 2011. No i did not still her upgrade, she wanted the moto droid because she has nails and and cannot use the touchscreen on the X. we made a deal where i gave her my droid in exchange for her upgrade. My question is when my X comes (will ship by 9/9) how do i switch my number to the X and my sisters number to the moto droid. I don't want to take this problem to the verizon store, I want to fix it on my own.

No offense or trying to upset you, but isn't she aware that Droid 2 already launched? I mean, it's so much more improved and nicer than the Droid 1 and also has an improved qwerty keyboard just like the Droid 1 did, except without the navigation pad it used to carry. I'm sure that if you've kept it pretty much in mint condition and once it gets Froyo 2.2 it may run just as nice as the Droid 1 but I really hope she doesn't mind not having used her upgrade to get you a Droid X instead of getting herself the new Droid 1. Just a thought, I'm sure your Sister is awesome and doesn't mind doing this for you but I just think she might not have been aware that there was a newer option she could have chosen since she's extending her contract by getting a phone (Droid X) which she doesn't find suitable. Anyhow, hope you enjoy it. All you have to do is register your new handset online and it'll ask you for a S/N then make sure you've run your Backup Assistant so you don't loose all your contacts. Do the same for her with your Droid 1 but I am letting you know that she will be asked (electronically) over the phone if she agrees to a contract extension of 2 years (1 year if she chose that option). Then after that I'm sure you shouldn't run into any problems once she chooses the data package of $29.99 or higher required for all smartphones since she will obviously still need it for the Droid 1. I apologize for the long response, but hope this helps you. The wait will seem like forever but once you get your Droid X you'll completely forget about the wait and have an awesome time looking through all the functions the X provides. I'm loving my phone especially since I come from a 'dumbphone' which was the LG enV Touch that I HATED and thought a $9.99 or higher data plan was a waste of money for such a phone that gave me more problems than I had with my old school Samsung Alias which I went back to after using the LG enV Touch for less than a year and putting it back in it's box in almost mint condition. With the X I don't mind paying the $29.99 data plan because it truly does so much more than all those Blackberry phones I tested out at the Verizon stores. So glad I went with the Droid X!

  • Moto Display Issue- Droid Turbo

I recently got a droid turbo and it was working perfectly. I have the Moto Display turned on. It was working perfectly and when a notification came up, I would hold down on it and it would show me a short summary, such as the subject of the email. Now, the notification comes up but when I hold it down, the summary doesn't come up. It just shows a blank spot.
    Any Ideas?
    Thank you!

Hopefully you see this before doing a hard reset of the device.....
You may have set the option "More Privacy - hide notification details when using any screen lock."
This will display the exact behavior you are describing when using a lock screen other than swipe. Including PIN, password, facial, etc.
In order to change this setting: from your homescreen, tap the app drawer> swipe through to find "Moto" and tap to open> Tap the Gear icon (settings) in the top-right corner> Tap Display> Untick the More Privacy option.
    Hope this helps!

  • Can BBerry calendar, memos, contacts move to Moto Droid 4?

I'm thinking of switching from BlackBerry Bold 9650 to Motorola Droid 4.
Verizon has given me four totally different answers about transferring contacts, calendar and memos from Bberry to Moto.
Answers range from "it can't be done," to "it should be easy," to "it can be done but I don't know how," to "call Google or Motorola."
Does anyone know if it's even possible?
    And, if so, how?
    Thanks.

        Hi mermaz!
I'm sure I can provide the final answer and solution for you! Can it be done? Yes! It can be tricky depending on how you do it. The easiest portion is the contacts. You can download Backup Assistant on the Bold, save contacts, then download the app to the Droid 4 and import the contacts. The app is free and managed by Verizon Wireless. That app will only do contacts though.
What I honestly recommend is moving everything over to Google sync, since Google is the primary source is sync on the device and you'll need a gmail account anyways.
Are you using Blackberry Desktop Manager to sync your information to Outlook? If so, its an easy import/export process of each file type into Google Contacts, Google Calendar, and Google Tasks.
Here are the export steps from Outlook: http://bit.ly/SMfR2d
Here are the import steps to Google: http://bit.ly/Rx6r81
Once everything is migrated to Google, you can activate the Droid 4. The set up screens will walk you through signing in to Google and all will sync over automatically. If you wish to keep everything in Outlook on the Droid 4, then you would want to reach out to Microsoft or search the Google Play store for available options.
Keep me posted of your progress.
    Thanks!

  • First gen Moto X issues with Lollipop Update

I've got a first-gen Moto X (XT1058) and received the Lollipop update a couple of days ago. Since then I have run across a few issues. When I am using some other app, if I receive a call this little drop down answer/reject tab appears but if I answer, the call vanishes into some purgatory. Also drive Assist is broken. If I receive a text, it will read it aloud like normal, but when I try to reply, it doesn't even acknowledge I am speaking. It may have responded once when I shouted at full volume directly into the unit. Anybody having similar issues?

Effective July 20, 2015, the Android 5.1 (Lollipop) software update for the Moto X (XT1058) has been temporarily suspended. We apologize for any inconvenience and are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
this is from the support page for the phone.  Its quite rare for att to do this....

  • Two Problems with Moto Droid--tips please!!

So, I've had my Motorola Droid for about two months now and I love it! However, two problems have cropped up recently and I'm getting a bit frustrated.
    1) Pictures WILL NOT upload to Facebook anymore. It tries and then I get an error message. I have tried turning the phone off and back on, that didn't work. I have not been able to upload pics for several weeks now. I tried to uninstall the Facebook app and reinstall it just now, but it wouldn't even uninstall. Any advice, please?
    2) Every once in awhile, it will show the battery as extremely low and be telling me to plug in the charger. Each time I had not used my phone barely at all, so there would be absolutely no reason for the battery to be dying. But when I turn the phone off so it won't completely die and then turn it back on once I connect the charger, the battery is back to being full charge. So now I can fix it every time by powering off and powering back on, but this is still annoying and I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be happening.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! =)

Thanks, but this is a situation where I am NOT running out all the battery--I will have a full charge one minute and the next it will show it as completely depleted. But if I just turn the phone off and then back on, the battery shows up as fully charged even if it's not on the charger. It's not really causing a major problem, it's just really annoying because restarting your phone is not exactly a 5-second process.

  • Replacement droid issue....

I got a droid 1 replacement phone from asurion 9/27. Problem: No SD card! They are on "backorder". I was assured that I would get a SD card mailed to me within 10 days. Its been about 3 weeks and nothing. My phone was lost( I had thought stolen). It was returned to me today. Another problem: Got old phone back, can't transfer SD card to active phone without losing all data on SD card. So now I have a activated phone, No SD card. And my old perfectly fine droid with SD card and all pictures and music. Hmmm.... What to do.

    Hey Now.
Been there done this. Although my phone was not returned. It was in fact stole.
Anyhoots, asurion isn't interested in you sending back the replacement phone?
I would assume they would be ok with this..considering your first device was in fact returned to you and not stolen.
I would send back replacement (contact asurion first) and activate your old device, by contacting Verizon on a land line or another cell other than yours.
    Good Luck.

  • Apps randomly disappearing off Moto Droid

Just opened my app drawer to look something up on Engadget, and what do you know, it seems to have disappeared off my phone completely.  This has happened with a few other apps over the last couple days.  Anbody else having this issue?

I never heard of that one, sounds like you better call GhostBuster... Just Playing, but seriously I haven't heard of that happening and I really don't get how it can be possible because the phone doesn't allow you to remove anything without acknowledging the uninstall first.
That's a strange one....  Are you using Launcher Pro because it has a option to hide apps from the drawer, Try holding on homescreen and select Shortcut from the list and see if the app shows in the list for shortcuts, if so then the app isn't uninstalled but somehow the shortcut on drawer is hidden or removed.

  • Moto Droid, entering and accessing new contacts

when I enter in new contacts to my phone contact list, the droid makes me choose between entering the name and number in one of my 2 gmail accounts.  Then when I go to find them in my contacts they are not there.
Also, some of the numbers that were in my previous phone are not showing as contacts in my droid.
Anyone know what the deal is????

Here is what I just did....
    Open Contacts.
    Press Menu Button.
    Choose New Contact.
Choose one of my google accounts.
Filled out Name and Mobile number of contact.
    Pressed Done.
    When to Home Screen.
    Press Menu Button.
    Select Settings.
    Choose Accounts and Sync
Made sure the google account that I selected previously was set to "Sync is ON"
Just to make sure, I clicked on the account.
Pressed the Menu button and chose Sync Now.
I then logged into my Google account, clicked on Contacts.
Click in the in the search box for contacts and searched for the contact that I just created.  It showed up with no problems.  Maybe one of the things I did can help you to find your problem.

  • Moto Droid physical keyboard double letters

Ok I bought a Motorola Android for verizon about 8 months ago. And its been working fine for 6 and a half months but then of course my power button randomly broke... I think it is the little spring inside somehow broke? Anyway this is annoying and i am sure i can get it fixed but not my biggest concern.
About a month ago my keyboard (physical qwerty) keyboard started acting weird. (I haven't 'hacked' or updated my phone through the internet) for all intensive purposes it is brand new). When i typed a message it began to miss some letters and double others; example 'hey what's up" became 'heey watts uup'. It started off small, and a double here and a miss there but in the past month it has gotten HORRIBLE. At this point I can not even use the keyboard, when i type in passwords on internet or google search it is unrecognizable. I just tied typing 'hey how are you' in the google search and got 'y h r yo'... As you can see it is completely screwed up... pushing hard on keys or any of that doesnt help. I am pretty sure i need to go into my local verizon store... 40 min away! and get a new phone or replacement of this one, and since i am in 1 yr it should be free right? BY the way, 3 out of 4 of my friends are beginning to have same problem with their droids! they are in the beginning stage tho and it isnt as bad as mine... but it seems to be getting worse for them too!!!
Lots of questions let me break down it here:
    1) anyone else having this problem
    2) has anyone resolved this
    3) will verizon fix/replace my phone
3a) if so i here you can get the droid x instead (saw some forums) this true?
    anything will help thanks!

I've been having the exact same problem for 2 months now and my phone is not even 1 year old yet.
I never use the onscreen keyboard because it is so inaccurate (and I don't even have very large fingers); it just never indicates the letter on screen that I wanted, always the (wrong) one next to it.  So I have nly ever used the flip out keyboard to do any typing, and for at least the past 2 months, it is always doubling up on any vowels that I type, only the vowels.  I guess because they get used so much, they are wearing out - which is awful.  Nothing is made to last any more.
I too am dreading having to waste a chunk of my Saturday to go to a Verizon store and get it sorted out.  And get the usual "Oh, but now there's a brand new model and if you sign up for another 2 years, you can get it for free instead!" spiel.....

  • Our cell phones (iPhone 5 and Moto Droid M) keep dropping calls while inside our home.

We have to run outside to try to answer calls.  Sometimes the calls go directly to voice mail since apparently the signal isn't strong enough to activate the ringer.  Is there a tech support number I can call for advice?

The problem only occurs inside the house.  If we walk/run outside, the phones work fine.  Our guests experience the same issues when they visit.  The house does have a radiant barrier in the roof – might this be the problem?
What can I do?  I would prefer a dialogue with a Customer Service rep who is knowledgeable and can help solve this problem.  I can demonstrate the problem with the cell phones – hard to do in an email.
