Moto G Prepaid Phone Question

I am very interested in getting the Moto G by Motorola as my next phone.  I have always had contract phones so switching to a no contract phone is new to me.  On the Moto G page it says "This phone may only be used with Verizon Wireless Prepaid service for the first 6 months after activation."  I'm a bit confused on what this means.  Does it mean that this phone can only be used as a prepaid phone for 6 months, then you are forced to get into a contract?  'Cause that is really what it sounds like and that doesn't make sense to me.  Or does it mean that after 6 months, you have the option of having it as a prepaid phone or a contract phone?  If anyone could give me some insight on this, it would be very much appreciated.

After six months on a prepaid plan, the phone is eligible to be activated on a postpaid account. It can be used on the prepaid plans for as long as you want.

  • How can I add the Blackberry my friend gave me to my account that already has my prepaid phone on it?

How can I add the Blackberry my friend gave me to my account that already has my prepaid phone on it?

A few questions to clarify your specific situation will help us to better help you...
Do you want to swap phones and use the BlackBerry instead of your current phone?  I don't think you can add a line to a pre-paid account to use both - it would have to be two separate accounts.
What model BB is it?  And is it Verizon branded?  It may or may not be usable on a pre-paid account.
Finally, what is your current phone and account set up?  You may need to get a different pre-paid plan to use the BB, if it is usable on Verizon.

  • Transferring ownership of prepaid phone

I just recently added my husband to my family plan with a new number and new phone.  His old prepaid phone still has useable minutes so I plan to give this phone to a person who needs it but can't afford it.  The number on the prepaid phone is listed as my husband's on his My Verizon page.  My question is:  If this person sets up a My Verizon page in her name with the old number which was assigned to the prepaid phone will there be a problem?  If so, what do I have to do to fix this?
Also...how do I delete all contacts on the prepaid phone?  When I try to do this it asks for a phone lock code.  We don't have any idea what that is or where to find it.
Any help appreciated.  The phone is Samsung Smooth.

I just recently added my husband to my family plan with a new number and new phone.  His old prepaid phone still has useable minutes so I plan to give this phone to a person who needs it but can't afford it. If you change the number you will lose the money that is on the phone.  The number on the prepaid phone is listed as my husband's on his My Verizon page.  My question is:  If this person sets up a My Verizon page in her name with the old number which was assigned to the prepaid phone will there be a problem?  If so, what do I have to do to fix this?  I think all she would have to do is add her name and delete his name.
Also...how do I delete all contacts on the prepaid phone? You can manually delete the contacts one by one. The only thing I can think of for a lock code would be the 4 digit  security code. If  the number there asking for is longer than 4 digits then it might be the # on the battery.  When I try to do this it asks for a phone lock code.  We don't have any idea what that is or where to find it.
Any help appreciated.  The phone is Samsung Smooth.

  • Why Is There A Basic Prepaid Phone That Costs $165?

    http://www.verizonwireless.com/new/prepaid/basic-monthly-plans/lg-exalt+monthly/
Out of curiosity, why does Verizon sell a basic prepaid phone (the LG Exalt) that costs $165?  It doesn't even have waterproofing or ruggedness, and still costs $65 more than any prepaid smartphones that Verizon sells right now.  I'm not trying to complain, I'm just a little confused.

I don't think dilbertaz understood the question. None of verizons basic phones offer 4g. That's only in the smartphones and the jet packs. Also, the phone recommended isn't even compatible with Verizon wireless.

  • I HAVE A PREPAID PHONE.  WHEN I TRAVEL TO MALAYSIA I MUST BRING THIS PHONE WITH ME.  CAN I BUY SIMS CARD AND USE IT?  I AM TOLD THAT I CAN DO SO.

I HAVE A PREPAID PHONE AS I GO.  WHEN I TRAVEL TO MALAYSIA, I AM GOING TO BRING THIS PHONE WITH ME.  CAN I BUY SIMS CARD OVER THERE AND ASK THE SELLER TO PUT IN MINUTES FOR ME?   WHO CAN ANSWER THIS QUESTION?

That sounds like a great trip urgent! Ann154 asked a great question. Please share which prepaid device you have. 3G Prepaid Phone in a Box (PIB) is restricted for use with prepaid service for 6 consecutive months after activation, and is locked to the VZW network for 12 months after activation.
      • After 6 consecutive months, the restriction to prepaid service is automatically removed.
      • After 12 months, customers can dial *611 from their VZW prepaid phones or 888-294-6804, to receive the programming code to unlock their phones.
      • Non-PIB prepaid devices are not locked, but may require a program code to use with another carrier - typically "000000" or "123456." Sim lock does not apply to any VZW 4G LTE device with global roaming capabilities. These devices are able to be used with a third party local sim card without any additional steps to unlock the device. Thank you.

  • Is an unlocked iphone the same as a prepaid phone

Can you use an unlocked iphone 4s as a prepaid phone?

If the carrier allows iPhones on their prepaid plans, sure. Contact the carrier you're interested in.
To answer the slightly different question you asked in the subject line, no, an unlocked phone is not the same as a prepaid phone. "Unlocked" refers to the fact that the phone is able to be used on any compatible carrier. "Prepaid" refers to a type of price plan, to how the carrier bills you for service.

  • Why does my current balance no longer show up on my prepaid phone?

I just switched from a Samsung flip phone to the LG Cosmos.  Now the balance will not update on the home screen.  When I called into Verizon they tell me that they do not offer that feature anymore.  I find this hard to believe as it was working fine until just 2 weeks ago.  So, does anyone have any idea of what is going on?  Is my phone screwed up, or did Verzion really kill the balance feature on the prepaid phones?

  • Solution to "unable to register prepaid phone"

Can't register account for your prepaid phone/device? Here's the link that works:
My Verizon Log-in | Verizon Wireless
Please make sure your knew phone is on because the temporary password will be send as a text message.
Also, your security code is the last 4 digits of your phone#. The Verizon does not say it anywhere, had to figure it out myself.

For me, it turned out to be somewhat different - my home wireless was working fine with several different devices/OSs, but it seems that WebOS stopped falling back to any DNS servers beyond the first one.  Whereas other devices (android phones, linux laptops, etc) still resolved DNS fine using the secondary/tertiary DNS entries, WebOS starting giving me the "unable to resolve host" error.  So I changed the (primary) static DNS entry on my wireless router to one of the Google public DNS servers (8.8.8.8) and now WebOS is happy again.  The only thing that changed for me (on the tablet) was enabling usbnet just to check it out, and even after I disabled usbnet, I still had the name resolution failures.  Go figure...

  • I have been adding data to my prepaid phone but Verizon is telling me it is unable to process. Why not? I have a list of add ons but I don't have them on my phone. Now I can't use my phone because they won't add to my phone. What do I need to do?

Why is Verizon not adding my data add ons when I sign in and try to use the service? I have been adding on since early November and I had to get another refill card. I don't have any data on my prepaid phone. Where is my data? I can't use my prepaid. I need help.

        2BNatural,
I am so sorry to hear of the issues you are having with adding data. We definitely want you to be able to have access to your data added. I apologize as we are unable to access prepaid accounts. Please reach out to our prepaid department at 888-294-6804 for further assistance.

  • Urgent help with prepaid phones?

We just activated a batch of new prepaid phones. They activated fine, but whenever we try to place outgoing calls, one or two rings in, we get an error message as if the call is to a wrong or disconnected number ("The call cannot be completed as dialed"). Halfway through this message will stop and the phone will continue ringing. This can happen twice in one phone call sometimes. It eventually reaches the number dialed, but it takes twice as long. I need to get this resolved ASAP. I've run *228 operations and even did some manual stuff with Verizon tech support, who basically threw up their hands and said they couldn't help me after a while.

Is it every call you make that you hear the error message on? Can you dial *611 from the phone and hear the balance?--if not call 888-294-6804 from the cell phone and you should get a message from verizon about your account now being activated.
Other than the issue with Tech Support, Manual Programming was done with them i'm sure, Have you checked your Nam Settings (Menu > Settings and Tools > Phone > System Select) ensure it is on NAM 1, if its on NAM 2, change to NAM 1 and dial *22890.
    Hope this was some-what helpful.
    Best Wishes

  • Usage reports for prepaid phones

My employer is considering purchasing some prepaid phones for several new temporary employees whose primary role will be to make weekly phone calls to our clients. We would like to keep track of the calls made with these phones, so I'm wondering what sort of call reporting is available on the My Verizon page for prepaid phones? A sales rep told me that each wall was listed and that the list is updated hourly, but I am wondering if the list is downloadable, or if it is only viewable through the webpage.
Can anyone help me out? A screenshot would be especially helpful.

The page is downloadable put it doesn't  cover all phones,  sometimes it will cover a call from verizon to verizon and other times its doesn't I went in and checked on my summary list and I don't no why it dose'nt cover all of them so this would not be reliable for what your boss wants it for.

  • I live in Canada and bought a prepaid phone last year in Rancho Mirage Ca. I cannot add any money to the phone now and have lost serviceWill not take my Visa

My prepaid phone ran out on Nov. 16 and the web site is out of order so I cannot add funds on line.
I phoned the 1 888 number but was told they cannot take my Canadian Visa number even though I used it to purchase the phone last year.
I think because I am in Canada the chat service doesn't work for me either.
Would love to give Verizon an other $100.00 for another year of prepaid service but so far no luck.
Any ideas short of having to drive to the USA to a Verizon store?
    Thanks,
    Terry

  • I have just created a new username and bought a new prepaid phone. I am being toldf I am not the account owner. Why is this?

I have just created a new username and bought a new prepaid phone. I am being toldf I am not the account owner. Why is this

Owner status on POST PAID is not the same as PRE PAID.
on prepaid you can get any device you like.
    But you pay upfront.
People on post paid get the advantage of reduced priced devices on contracts. Prepaid is no contracts.
Any carrier will function the same way. Go online and check out Verizon pre paid policy and then look at the other carriers.
Maybe prepaid from Walmart or Boost Mobile, or Cricket etc. would be best for you. Pay for all you can eat calling, texting and data for one low price. Say $45-$55  and buy the phones they offer.
    Good Luck

  • Can I change my contract phone (contract exspired) to a prepaid phone

I bought a used Verizon GL Envy 3 Postpay contract phone.  THe phone is now without contract.  I was told I can switch it over to a prepaid phone, but when calling Verizon they told me I could not.  I have friends that have done this, so I know it can be done.
THe ESN is clear, I had it checked.  Does anyone know about how to get this done?
    Thanks

If the phone requires a data package on postpaid service (basically if it falls into the 3GMM or smartphone categories), then it cannot be activated on pre-paid service.  The enV3 requires a data package because it is a 3GMM phone, so it cannot be used on prepaid.
