Moto X (2014) receiving low quality images over MMS

I've had 2 different Moto Xs 2014 and both receive images in really low quality (pixelated, lower resolution). I've tried MMS through the verizon messaging app, Hangouts, and the MMS app. My Moto X 2013 did not have this issue. Does anyone know if this a network issue or a Motorola firmware issue?

Im having the same issue on on my 2014 Moto X running Android 5.0, no matter what messaging app I use. Incoming MMS are less than 30kb but I can send at the normal 700kb. Extremely unusable resolution. Factory reset my phone and tried Verizon messaging plus which worked for one incoming MMS but subsequent messages were back to <30kb. Went into a Verizon store and checked my APN settings against different phones which were identical. Verizon employees had no explanation either. Not sure if its a Verizon issue or Motorola issue.

  • Low quality images in web gallery from Output Module

So when I create a web gallery slideshow using the output module I get SUPER-low quality images, like big jagged, pixellated lines in place of any diagonal line in the pictures. However, only photos in the portrait orientation are affected by this problem. Landscape-oriented photos look perfectly normal, just smaller.
My first thought was that maybe the images were low quality in the web gallery preview but wouldn't be in the actual saved file, but alas I saved the index.html file and when I preview it in my web browser I get the same result with the portrait-oriented photos.
Any idea how to fix this? Other than only using landscape photos in my gallery of course!
    Thanks!

The same problem here. I've noticed it just yesterday, but my Safari rendering is affected the same way.
I don't think it has anything to do with the recent updates. I reinstalled my MacOS X Leopard day ago and all the images (jpg, gif) have been somehow in lower quality ever since that moment. Even before I installed all new updates today.
The strangest think is, that it wasn't like this before the reinstallation. I used the same media, and I have, indeed, the same machine.
I'm hopeless. Have you already found some solution? Or anybody? Would be great...

  • Low Quality Image for Purchased TV Show

Greetings - I have recently purchased a TV Show (MLBaseball game) from the iTunes Store and was surprised by the low quality of the image. Basically the overall image is far from as crisp as it was in the original broadcast on commercial TV. I have a relatively high end graphics workstation, so the Mac is not the issue. Any thoughts on how to improve the quality of this substandard download? Thank you.

Do you mean "MLB baseball" (it took me a while to figure out what to search for)?
Poor quality is a relative term and it would be good to get information about the file resolution, etc. Actually, pretty much anything on my computer looks better than on our 20 inch CRT television, but I later also figured you don't have one of those. Still, it's a matter of relative standards. On the FAQ site they say something about packing a baseball game into half a GB of file space. Even with modern codecs that may not produce crystal clear images if you're used to HD TV.

  • Lightroom 4.1 low quality image in develop module

Hi all, i have a macbook pro with retina display, in my lightroom 4.1 the images in the library look normal but when i go to develop module the image is blurred and very low quality. In settings the rendering are high quality 2048 1:1
Any way to fix this? Also in my external monitor i notice this thing with minor loss.

This probably won't help you but the preview settings don't affect the Develop module. In Develop the image is rendered from the raw data.
Are you seeing this with raw files? JPEGs? Is it a huge camera file?

  • Low quality image when adding to iMovie

I have 2 movies that I want to remove some parts, but when adding to iMovie, it changed some video adjustments to a worst quality image.
This 2 movies had already bad image quality from the source, because they have very darkness frames and were filmed in VHS.
But they were reasonable to see, from Apple TV.
Now in iMovie they became worst.
The source is H.264, AAC 1280x720 FPS 23,97
The source is H.264, AAC 1024x576 FPS 23,97
    What can I do ?

    Available ?
    More or less.
And how can I send a sample ?
Depends on the size of the sample and what space is available to you on a server. You can usually send snippets as e-email attachments up to about 10 MBs. If you have a MobileMe account, server space provided by your ISP, or other server space provided by a third-party service, then you can upload larger samples for FTP or webpage use and simply post/send me the URL, reference movie, or QTL.
When the movie goes to iMovie, the brightness decreases and the contrasts became more darkness.
Have you tried playing with the built-in "Video Adjustments" at all? Not the easiest thing to use but you can make some adjustments using it. In such work, "Less is usually best." By this I mean you should apply as little adjustment as you can get away with using.
Normally I would start with a "Level" adjustment. While there is an "Auto" button you can press to get some idea as to what the application says you need for a particular frame or range of frames, this setting can vary drastically depending on the individual frame being tested. So it would usually be a good idea to expand your clip and "test" a number of frame ranges to see what is a "typical" setting for the clip. If the settings are fairly uniform, you can go with the suggested setting or something reasonably close to save "blowing out" highlights. On the other hand, if the settings vary drastically, you my either wish to select an "in-between" setting of your own manually, or split the clip into sub-segments which can then be adjusted individually. NOTE: the auto "Level" adjustment does not affect other settings -- only the clipping points and does not include controls for half or quarter tone adjustments. Still it is my preferred starting point for making adjustments.
You can also try adjust the "Exposure" setting. This will tend to allow you to adjust the "Brightness" and "Contrast" uniformly by centering your color channel histogram but can easily be overdriven. "Brightness" and "Contrast" can, of course, be adjusted individually if you prefer but you may find the "Exposure" control easier to handle where the content is more uniform with regard to shadows and highlights. Lastly, adjustment of any of the previously mentioned controls will usually have some effect on color saturation. While they do not change the actual setting, they do tend to desaturate color as the other controls "lighten" the cast of your frame images. So, don't be surprised if the results "wash out" somewhat and you may need to touch up the saturation. But, once again, go easy as the saturation doe not increase uniformly and tends to "blotch" highlights and/or create color shifts in these areas.
About the only controls left are the individual color channel levels. I don't normally recommend playing with these arbitrarily as they then to shift the color cast/white balance of your content. As to the White balance itself, the "eyedropper" had little or no effect on the content I tested so I assume the it either did not work as described or the sample white/grey points I used for sampling did not require adjustment. As to the Balance Wheel," it does work well but like the color channel adjustments may cause more harm than help most novice users.

  • Low resolution images over dialup

For some strange reason, Safari seems to render images at a lower resolution when I'm connected to the Internet over dialup (Bluetooth dialup in my case, haven't tried regular dialup), no matter what my Display preferences are set to.
I've seen a couple prior posts asking similar questions, but no definite resolution. One person mentioned the "Total Access" features and a web accelerator perhaps being the cause, but I can't find anything like that either in the Safari or System preferences.
    Help?

    This is normal
An image requires a picture of twice the resolution to display properly on a Retina display, if not available it will double up the pixels or just stretch out to fill the space it should fill. Most websites were created before high resolution displays became popular and many either haven't bothered or just do not feel enough visitors use such displays to make updating their images worthwhile
When a non-Retina user loads a page with such images they still have to download the full size image, which could be another reason
As for program icons it will just be that the program is old

  • Export to epub with linked ai files result in low quality images

I have a 220 page indesign cc doc which I am exporting to epub fixed layout. I have around 100 linked ai files. When I export, the main paragraph text is crisp and lovely but the ai figures are a little fuzzy.
I have tested different settings in the 'Object Export Options' but each time it comes out the same.
    See image below.
I have searched around but can't seem to find anyone talking about this. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

    Hello Carli,
When exporting to epub, images format changes to png/jpg/gif depending on what you have selected in EPUB Export Options dialog. Please try exporting to PNG with high resolution selected(you can change Resolution as well in Export Options dialog).
    Thanks

  • Low quality when saving MMs pics

I've been getting MMS pics of the kids from my wife's phone (not an iphone) for a while, and they look great on my iPhone 4 screen. The good ones I save to Photos.
As of today, the new ones still look great on the screen, but when I save them the quality drops significantly. I've also tried emailing one to myself, but the quality was very low that way as well.
I've also noticed that I can't tap-to-open these newly saved pics from MMS from the Camera Roll album. In the past I have been able to. I can view them if I open another pic and flip through the album until I get to that one.
Any thoughts? Am I missing a setting about saving media from MMS? Is this a result of the recent update?
    Thanks for any help!

Yes! My iPhone started doing this after the 4.1 update. I frequently save mms photos and post them on my twitter feed. I'm using the exact same procedure as always, but it now appears to be saving the thumbnail instead of the image (the saved pictures are very small and cropped or resized to a square aspect.
Keep hoping for an update to the Messages app...gonna have to turn in my "Apple Fanboi" decoder ring if this keeps up

  • Low-quality copy (to the clipboard) in Keynote and Pages

    Hello,
I am running Keynote 6.5 under OS 10.10 on MacBook Air. Just after updating to Yosemite I have noticed that if I copy (command-c) something from Keynote (say, some text, or a graphic) and try to paste it outside (in Preview, or in Word) I get a low-quality image (bitmap rather than vector). It was not like this before. Also, I have verified that this problem is limited to Keynote and Pages; i.e., copying something out of (e.g.) Powerpoint works perfectly (vector image).
    Anyone can help?

I can confirm this is also a problem with Numbers. Anything copied out of the iWork apps appear to lose the ability to be pasted as a .PDF, even in applications that can accept the higher quality .PDF format. (In looking into it, there's additional weirdness I'm seeing related to iWork and the clipboard, but that's for elsewhere).
At this time, the only possible thing you can do to get high quality output from Keynote is to Export as a PDF, then open that and crop it.
Just to help a bit more, when you check Preview for how to crop a PDF, the help is incorrect. The command you're looking for is not
Choose View > Show Edit Toolbar,
    it's
Choose View > Show Markup Toolbar
However, I haven't tried to see if you can get PDF's without backgrounds... checking now
I've also confirmed that Keynote '09 can still produce .PDF's from copied content. And, I am using a MacBook Pro.

  • 17 Inch G4 iMac displaying low quality grainy graphics on web pages

I'm having a very sudden problem with my iMac. Images on web pages are displaying very grainy and low quality. This is not an issue with images on my iPhoto or new images I upload from my digital camera. I have tried loading web pages on Safari, Firefox, and Google Chrome and any web page I pull up is displaying fuzzy, grainy, low quality images. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

I'm sorry no one has jumped on this in two days. I think you have us stumped. I've tried changing some video settings on several of our G4 Macs but that either affects all image apps or doesn't simulate the problem.
Can you post an image? If you host the image or upload it to a image storing/sharing site, you can insert it in a post by using the instructions in this user-contributed yip:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=121950&tstart=0
Help me here--You say this problem persists in *Google Chrome*. My understanding is that Chrome has always required an Intel processor and OS 10.5 or later. 10.4.11 and a G4 iMac don't cut it. Is this a typo or is this problem associated with a Mac other than the G4 in your equipment line?

  • Can I extract low quality links from a indd which the links are missing?

Can I extract low quality links from a indd which the links are missing?
    That's it...
I've an old file without it's links folder, I was wondering If there was any way to extract low quality images from it to relink them.

@Bernardo – you could export the graphic frame that holds the low res preview to e.g. PNG.
But I would *NOT* re-link them! Place them anew in case someone has geometrically transformed (cropped, rotated, skewed, mirrored) the original ones. Keep in mind that by exporting graphic frames to PNG, fill and stroke properties together with applied effects are exported as well.

  • Why is "zoomed out" image low quality?

It seems whenever the display zoom is less than 100%, CS3 uses some kind of "Pixel Resize" for display which makes for low quality output to look at.
Is there any way to tell CS3 to a simple bilinear filter when displaying less than 100%?
This would make for much less artifacts/jaggedness and I'm sure the speed impact would not even be noticeable.
    Thank you,
    LTG

    >Should a pixel editor, at a non-100% zoom level, smooth things over to make them look good, so you might pass on viewing at 100%, falsely thinking the image is fine?
again, what if you want an overall view of your image, not just a 2"x4" secion of it? shouldn't you have that option via a toggle?
    >Or should it use something similar to pixels from the image that might clue you in to a need to zoom to 100% to see if editing is needed? I vote for the latter, which Photoshop delivers.
it uses NOTHING similar to the image! it's nearest neighbor guesses are way off. I'd rather see the title bar go red as an indicator and see a closer representation of what the image is supposed to look like.
so that's 3 excuses now. 1) it's so you know what to go back and edit. no. becuase ANYTHING VIEWED AT A NON-100% ZOOM LEVEL IS INACURATE! 2) it's to protect you from saving when the image isn't really ready to be saved? no. becuase ANYTHING VIEWED AT A NON-100% ZOOM LEVEL IS INACURATE! 3) it should show you crap because then you know you need to go back and look at 100%. NO! because maybe you produced crap to begin with! :)
I hear what you're saying mike, and it's the closest to a reasonable explination in this thread, but wouldn't it be nice to allow the USER to choose what they see?

  • Problems with "save for web" app low quality messed up images

Please help I have never had a problem with the "save for web" application before (over three years) I am currently running A.I. cs3 on windows vista. in the past whenever I save anything this way the images were always clean. as of yesterday everything I try to save through the save for web app the images are very low quality all the vector has jagged edges, it is very low rez looking and the file sizes are very small, half the size they normaly would be. What did I do to change the settings or better yet how can I get it back to the way it was.

Thank you for your help I moved the folder but it still did not fix this problem. it is also not just the jpg option under the save for web app but all the setting ie. gif, png, ect. ect. Also the the files sizes are much less, example I exported a design as a jpg with the quality setting about 6 the file size was 374kb when I exported the same design through the save for web app the file size was only 45 kb on the quilty setting of 100. further more in the preview screen of "save for web" the original images as well as the optimized both look messed up. The "save for web" app has always worked for me in the past never a problem and I use this app alot so it is very important.
