Motor boating noise on Fios phones

Its seems my cordless phones interfere with the direct connect phone.  Sounds like a motor boat when you are on the wired phone and someone picks up the cordless (wireless) phone.  Anyone else have this problem or know the fix for this.........I have two 900 mhz phones and a 2.4 ghz.
Thanks

  • FIOS phone line static/buzzing/humming problem.... any ideas!

So I have FIOS phone, and my phone has a loud background hum noise when I'm on a call.  When I plug a phone directly into the ONT, there is no hum.  So clearly, there is something going on on my end.
    But 2 issues:
    1)  It wasn't always there - I think this hum only started up a month or so ago, and
    2)  when I UNPLUG the ONT (so it's running on emergency battery power), then there is no hum on any of the lines.
    Any ideas?

Hum is easy to cause.  Probably a wire disconnected partially, grounded, or something else in your enviroment that changed is being picked up.  If possible trace the wires looking for problems.
Possibly something going wrong with the BBU transformer, since you mention it goes away when you are on battery power.

  • 2 WAY FIOS PHONE CONVERSATION RECORDING FOR RESIDENTIAL USE ??

I think it that Fios Phone conversations should be able to be recorded, since it is now digital, by residential users! if I want to have it on all the time, every call, inbound or outgoing is recorded ! if I don't want that, I can push one of the buttons on the key pad and it will turn it on for that one conversation only! If someone wants to give me directions, or has a list of numbers or names and phone numbers for me, this is a great option to have! its long over due by Verizon Program Engineers! it should be included in the Fios Package of features, but hasn't showed up yet and its been years now!! Why the computer doesn't ring instead of the phone, I will never know!! it is long over due too!! Skype, Freetalk, and other programs have both audio and video, and at no cost to user! The telephone as we know it in the past, is a thing of the past! its time to make the system for us!! and Verizon can do that !! thanks, that's my 2 cents on the subject !

    NOOOOOOO.
Actually being digital vs analog doesn't effect the ability to record.  Get your own device.  Last thing we want is conversations being recorded and then demanded under court orders.

  • Can't call my verizon cell phones from my landline FIOS phone???

What can this be??? We can call Canada -- California and scads of other places.  But our own Verizon WIreless phones??? NADA!!!
Can't get a live body at Verizon as the wait times are so long...so hoping you all can help!
    Thanks

Are you all using the Digital Voice version of FiOS phone, or are you using the classic version that routes over the Public Switched Telephone Network similar to a POTS line?

  • FIOS phone - how do I have my name appear on others caller id? It shows up as my state.

I've had nothing but trouble with FIOS phone but now that it is actually working I was told that our name  doesn't appear on caller id. Is that something I can change myself? I am done being on hold with them.

Is this occuring when calling someone in the Verizon area? If so, please contact technical support.  If it is occuring in another providers area (such as AT&T, Time Warner, etc) then it is up to those companies to update their databases to reflect the proper information.

  • N97, strange noise inside the phone

    Hei,
today I noticed a strange noise when waving the phone. It was heard behind the camera.
The noise was  heard after taking the battery, sim & SD card away, but not when the key pad was opened.
It sounds like something were lose inside the phone.
So went to Nokia service point. There we noticed that the other two 97's, that they had there,  had the same noise although not so loud as in mine.
The service guy had not noticed the same before and told me to wait until he gets more information.
Has some of you the same problem?
    N900, N95

I hear a strange noise in my phone too. After a bit of testing I realised that something is moving slightly only when the phone's keyboard is closed. When you open the keyboard and shake the phone, nothing is heard. I suppose the plastic hinges thingy mechanism that holds the keyboard makes the noise and when the keybord is close its a bit loose and makes the sound. I also think that this is the reason why on some phone the vibtation sound weird- cause this plastic thing rattles about when the phone is vibrating.
    Can someone confirm this?

  • Sub-account Users and FIOS phone call logs

Verizon created FOUR separate account "Profiles" within my home for Internet and Phone Logs viewing use at the outset of their installation Two weeks ago.
One Primary acct... which Verizon designates.... and THREE other Sub-accounts. Seems ONLY the Primary account is allowed permission to View FIOS phone call logs, block numbers etc.... We changed over from COMCAST a couple of weeks ago where not Only did the Primaey account had these priveleges, but that same Primary account bestowed priveleges to all the other Secondary Sub-accounts to do the same via a check box.....don't see that here.
so I'm wondering is Verizon allowing only ONE acct ..(ie. Primary) to have this feature?
    CSAMPER

    Hello,
Unfortunately that feature is not available. Here is more information in reference to our primary accounts.

  • FiOS Phone and Internet down for 2 weeks

Inbound calls: system answers with loud crackling noise, phones ring once. Sometimes the calls get sent directly to voicemail
Outbound calls: fast busy on off-hook, sometimes you can't break dialtone
    Internet service: slows down significantly
The ONT has been replaced at least 5 or 6 times, the router 3 times, and the office equipment once. The problem still recurs even if all the phones in the house have been disconnected.
I believe the problems are  consistent with a high data error rate. This would also explain why Internet is currently working while the phone is offline.Voice traffic is less tolerant of high data error rates, while Internet traffic can tolarate a few dropped packets. This high error rate could be caused by problems with the fibre drop: too small bending radus, contamination, etc.
We thought that there may be a problem with rain getting into some of the fibre splices but the last tech checked and found that all connections were dry.
There have been at least 10 different techs here and they've all come to the same conclusion: that there is a problem with the fibre drop to the house.
Any ideas (before we switch to Comcast)?

I would have to agree the problem lies in the fiber connection.  Since various VZ folks agree do they plan to replace the fiber connection from the pole to the house?  Seems like the next logical step.

  • My iphone 4s no longer makes noise when receiving phone call or sms

i have an iphone 4s purchased june 2012
everything worked fine when i bought it
sometime during a holiday trip over christmas 2012, the noise function broke
    what works fine?
i can play music and hear it
i can make a call and hear the other person
i do receive calls and i can still hear the other person
    i can hear siri
    what is broken?
when i get a phone call, no ringer sounds even though yes i'm sure i have a ringer selected.
if i test the ringer sound in general > settings, i hear the sound. if i change the ringer to another option, i can hear it in settings, but not when i actually get a phone call.
when i get a text, no alert sound is made even though yes i'm sure i have an alert selected.  if i test the alert in general > settings, i hear the alert sound.  if i change the alert to another option, i can hear it in settings, but not when i actually get a text.
    i have tried a restore and a re-boot
    help please thanks

    Turn on phone
    Press home button twice
Close any open app pages that appear
    Restart phone
This apparently  resets the apps and the ring tone goes on when you receive a text.
    Worked for me anyway.

  • Clicking noise on the phones

I have several accecc points 1220 connecting to the
same 3550 switch. I am able to connect fine the signal is good, however my phones give a clicking noise when they receive or make calls. I was hoping if any one has any suggestions.
    Thanks

Check to see if you have slips on the T1 connections which would normally result in a "clicking" on the line?

  • No Incoming Calls on my New Verizon FIOS phone

Just swicthed my home phone number from Another VOIP base vendor and home TV from Dish to FIOS, after amazing product details and promis of cerdit of 100$ ATM card.
    First Issue:
No one in my friends can call me now except those who are already on Verizon Network,  Not acceptable, Tried to call VZ on the phone no luck, Chat agent is not available for this service.
    Second Issue:
NO one can tell me in VZ how i will get my credit for switching to FIOS, the number they gave me simply mention that its for new customer and hangup, No sure what needs to be done here.
Posting on this Fourm to see is any one else has the same issue
    Ahsan

As it happens, I switched to Verizon's bundle from Time Warner a few days ago.  I opted to transfer my phone number so I could keep the old one. According to the Verizon order entry process, that number was transferable.
After a somewhat rocky switch over (that's another story), I found I have the same problem. Incoming calls within the Verizon
network work fine, but callers from outside the Verizon network are told by a recorded message that they've reached a
    non working number.
I got a trouble report in via the web, as a human operator was impossible to reach. .... Still waiting for a resolution.

  • Noise on home phone(landline) every so often and poor dial up service

why can't verizon be better service providers and take the time to give you better phone service
i have to report the same problem every few weeks and the problem is never fixed for more than
2 days.   can't report problems at home due to the poor dial up service and poor phone lines
also get told that dsl is available by one person and then someone else tells you no.
i have no other options to either problem and that is probably why i get poor service

    welcome to the forum
openreach won't replace your line unless necessary so you need to keep reporting the fault to 151 and getting an engineer visit - surely they must from your description hear the noise on your line

  • Really? FIOS phone is VOIP now?

Yesterday, I re-upped my two-year FIOS contract and this morning, I went to make a local phone call and it said I needed to enter the area code first.
I called Verizon and they said that when I renewed, my phone was converted into VOIP.
That's ridiculous ... if I wanted VOIP, I'd use Skype.
Does this mean that there's no more 8-hour window where if my power goes out, I can still use the phone?  That's really the only reason I even want a land line - it's a backup in event of emergency.

Well, there are three separate issues.
The internet going down the other night was a widespread outage in the area, not something specific to me.  I talked with some friends who had FIOS and their internet was down or slow as well.  So I chalk that up as one of those things that happens and it doesn't really bother me.
Separate from that, my internet has probably gone down maybe 10-12 times since I have had Verizon and when I call in, they always go through some troubleshooting thing they have (I forget what they call it, recycling something) and it fixes the problem.  The last time it happened, they sent me a new router and told me, the next time it happened, to replace my old one with the one they sent me and see if it solves the problem.  (Obviously, that didn't help the other night since it was a widespread outage that had nothing to do with me.)  But while this is slightly annoying, it really isn't that big of a deal.
What is a big deal and what is a deal killer is that my phone went down the other night during the outage.  I'm currently playing the transfer game with Verizon where everyone I talk to assures me that it's not possible for this problem to happen and then transfers me to someone else.  It's absurd and insulting for them to tell me it's not possible - it did happen.  I was on my computer at the time the internet went out and the little network icon popped up to say I had no internet access.  I picked up my phone to dial Verizon support and had no dial tone.  I then checked one of my regular (non-cordless) phones just in case it was a problem with my cordless phone and it was out too.  When the internet came back up an hour later, I had a dial tone again.
I don't need to hear, "it's not possible", I need to either hear that they're going to switch me back to what I had before, that they are fixing the problem, or I'm going to drop at least the phone service with an eye towards dropping FIOS all together if I can arrange to get Cox out here before my 30-day recission period is up.

  • Having problems with encoder readings due to motor commutation noise

    Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask for advice with a hardware problem which I believe is rather usual.
    Here I describe my application:
We are controlling an electric actuator for a robotics application. We are using encoders to take position readings and we need to perform analog acquisition for other measurements (such as force measured with strain gauges).
    The problem is:
In summary, I am having problems to acquire properly position readings from a quadrature linear encoders and also some analog inputs. The cause  is the commutation noise generated by the motor drive we are using (which is a brushless dc motor Moog BN-23-23).
Our acquisition platform is a NI PXI-8106 with a PXI-1042Q chassis. We have two possibilities to acquire the signals. We have a multifunction DAQ M series NI PXI-6259 and a FlexRIO NI PXI-7951R with a DIO module NI PXI-6581R.
The commutation noise have a frequency of 30 kHz. In an oscilloscope we can see a series of noise peaks that are only present during a short period of time (about 1/10 of the period of the noise). The rest of the time the noise is not present.
The Accelnet amplifier module that feeds the electric motor provides us with a clock signal synchronized with the noise (which frequency is about 1/4 of the noise frequency). This clock signal provides a mean to solve the problem of the analog acquisition. We can use this clock to perform a buffered acquisition with an external clock in LabView connecting the clock to a PFI pin or to the FPGA card. But the noise is also corrupting this clock signal (we get a daqmx error warning us about possible glitches in the clock signal, and also stopping the acquisition). I believe that solving the encoder problem we can solve also the analog acquisition problem.
In the encoder readings the noise is making our counter count upwards or backwards gradually rather fast. We can get an increase in position of about 10 cm/second without any appreciable movement in the linear actuator.
It would be of great help if anyone could post the solution he is using to solve this problem.
Thanks in advance for your help,
    jespestana
PS: I insist in my belief that we are having a hardware issue, because we are only having bad readings when the electric motor is working. I am convinced so because we have already performed encoder and analog readings using other drives, such as hydraulic cylinders. Thus, I think that it is not a problem of our software (of our LabView VI).
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi jespestana,
I'm not sure why the noise would be causing your encoder measurement to increment more slowly...  However I do have one suggestion on the M Series board (6259):
The M Series cards have built-in digital filtering on the PFI lines (see the M Series User Manual).  It sounds like the noise is a series of ~3 us pulses (1/10 of 1/30 kHz).  One of the available filtering frequencies that you may set on your M Series is 6.425 us, which should ignore any pulses (high or low) that are less than 6.425 us. You may set digital filtering with a DAQmx Property Node:
A caveat is that the driver only allows you to configure digital filtering for counter inputs on M Series devices.  So, you could use digital filtering directly on your encoder task but not for your AI Sample Clock.  A workaround can be found here, which involves configuring a dummy counter task to set the PFI filter for your AI task.  If you're using the same PFI line for your encoder and AI task, you should just be able to set the PFI filter through the encoder task and not worry about the workaround.
With regards to the Flex RIO, I believe you could implement something similar on the FPGA, but I'm probably not the best person to comment about this.  It would likely be a great deal more work than using the built-in filtering of the DAQmx API.
    Best Regards,
    John Passiak

  • Constant noise through ear phones

Suddenly started getting a droning buzzing noise through the ear phones on my 3GS Seems to be related to the phone itself as goes up and down with volumn control Any ideas?

Did you check the headphone port for any kind of debris or lint? Did you check the plug and cable of your earphones for any defect?
Also try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes up again.
