Motorola Droid 4 no longer fully charging

I knew before buying this phone that the battery life wasn't great, but this is getting ridiculous.  I bought this phone a year ago in January and now it's no longer charging to 100%.  It started about two weeks ago where I would charge it overnight and it would only get to 90%, and now it only gets to 70%.  I can't do much with it anymore out of fear that I will have a dead battery in the middle of an emergency.  This is the worst phone I've ever had -- even the paint started chipping off the keyboard within 3 months, so now the majority of the keys are blank.  Is there anything I can do about the charging issues, short of having to buy a new battery (seriously, why should I have to spend more money because of a product flaw)?  Or am I stuck with this piece of junk for another 9 months??

    Hello alivet,
Picture messaging is a SUPER fun way to share events and memories with friends, family, and loved ones. When it doesn’t work, it can be frustrating as well as inconvenient. The last thing that I want you to have to worry about is sharing memories while on the go. Rest assured as I am available and ready to resolve the picture message issue.
May I ask are you using the original stock messaging service or a 3rd party messaging app? Also, do you or the sender have a signature on your messages? Another element that we may want to verify is the size of the picture message that’s being sent to you. Below, I have provided some steps for you to try and get this resolved.
Confirm that the destination number is 10 digits in lengths.
Verify how much device memory is available on the phone.
Check to see if there is a software update available on the device.
Delete any long threaded text conversations.
Verify that you are able to use other data services. (internet, app store, widgets, etc)
Perform a battery and sim card pull (if it’s a 4G device) on the phone.
Once you have completed these steps, please retest the picture messaging service for consistency. If the issue still persist then please keep me posted with your findings and/or any new info. I’m looking forward to your reply.
Thank you…

  • My brand-new iPod touch (5th Gen) battery takes a very long time to fully charge, even while not in use. Why is this and what should I do?

Just recently bought a brand-new iPod touch, 5th generation. To be exact, got it two days ago, this past Saturday, on 12/13/2014. Initially, when I first turned it on, it had a fully charge and I didn't need to charge it. I also didn't see anything in the very small and limited start-up guide you receive with it to charge it for a certain amount of time before use, or to use it until the battery dies, then charge all the way, like a lot of electronic devices have you do when you first purchase them.
So I was assuming I didn't need to do anything like that. First question, should I have charged it for a period of time before use? Should I have used it until the battery died, then plugged it in and charged it fully before use? Or is none of this necessary initially and iPod batteries are good to go from the start?
Please excuse me if this is an obvious question, as this is my first ever iPod. Anyways, like I said, nothing in the "instructions" said anything about that, so I didn't do it, I just used it until it got below 20% battery left, then I plugged it in.
Now for the battery itself, it takes literally a day or so to fully charge, even while not in use. Even if I use it for a while, turn off the iPod to make sure it shuts off all background data and apps, and then plug it in to charge, it still charges extremely slowly. I've never seen a device take this long to charge. As for the battery life itself, I'd say at full charge it lasts about 4-5 hrs, maybe 6, and then I have to charge it again. Meanwhile it takes around 24 hours, without me using it, to fully charge. If I use it while its charging, the battery decreases faster than it charges, and eventually I'll get the typical "20% battery remaining" message pop up.
I know it is charging, as the lightning symbol is next to the battery symbol. Specifically, right now, I plugged it in about 1 hr 30 minutes ago, and it has barely gone up. Also, whenever I press the home button to check the battery, I can see it jump down from about 50% to somewhere around 25%-30%. What is that about?
This is really frustrating, and I'm seriously contemplating either taking it back and trying my luck with a different iPod, or just taking it back and getting my money back. Any help and clarification on this matter would be greatly appreciated, and I'll answer any questions I can to shed more light on this.

It will take longer to charge the 5G's battery than either the 3G or 4G's battery.

  • How long should it take to fully charge my iBook?

Well, I haven't used my iBook's battery in a while since I found I was just putting unneeded charge cycles on the battery. So for the last maybe 3 months it has been used on and off with the AC plunged in at all time.
Today I took it outside to test my new Airport Express (checking the range) and after about 5 minutes I already got the "you are running on reserve power. plug in to ac" message! The battery used to last atelast 45 mins before doing that. The battery only has 279 cycles on it, which I found means it is coming to the end of its life.
However, I figured I might well run a full cycle and use it until it dies so I can charge it ALL the way up again. So like I said after 5 mins of being unplugged it said I was low on battery power. However, it wasn't until 15 - 20 mins later until it actually went to sleep and shut off. I thought that was interesting considering I was using the WiFi heavily and had the screen at 50% brightness.
Anyways, by now the battery had died so I came inside and before I plugged it in, I found that it was still giving power to the two usb ports as my bluetooth adapter light as still flashing, but the computer was so dead it would not turn on. So I left my bluetooth plugged in, and then tried to further kill the battery by plunging in a USB powered fan as well. I was waiting for the fan to shut off meaning the battery was COMPLETELY dead (wanted to do a full cycle like I said) but after 4 or 5 hours of running the fan, it was still going strong!
By then it was time for bed so I unhooked every thing, plugged in the AC charger and shut it down to fully charge overnight. This morning I go to turn it on (i'm back to leaving the AC in) and it would not turn on? I flipped it over and the battery still flashed one dot. The battery never changed. (the adter light was lit up so I know it was getting power.) I un plugged and jiggle it and then it started charging. So once it had enough power to turn on, I did so so I could watch the battery meeter.
    *HERE IS THE INTERESTING PART:*
By the time OSX had booted, the battery was charged at 5% which is fine. However 10 mins later I checked it again and it was already up to 60%??!?! I then watched it and the percentage of charge was going up like the seconds of a digital clock. It seemed to be chairing very rapidly? It has now been about 20 to 25 minutes and it is reading 100% full.
Is this possible? I thought it would take at least 2 or 3 hours to full charge an iBook battery that was fully past that dead mark. I find it almost odd that it the battery is full after less then a half hour.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Scott

What happens is that the weaker the battery, the less time it takes it to charge (and run down) because it doesn't take long to reach its lowered maximum capacity.
Although I never worry about my battery and leave my portables plugged in most of the time, that isn't necessarily the best thing for the battery.

  • How can I tell if Droid 4 is fully charged?

Just received a Droid 4 in mail today after my daughter's Incredible 2 died. I have a Stratosphere that shows a battery icon while phone is on charger and powered off, but this Droid has a completely black screen. It's on charger and powered off. My daughter won't let me touch it because she's afraid I'll ruin it if I turn it on while it's not fully charged. How can I tell if it's fully charged before we activate the phone?

  • My iPod will no longer turn on after I fully charged it. HELP!

I knew I should have never trusted Apple with personal files. I put all of my pictures from my digital camera (1,800 of them) on the ipod for "safe" keeping. Now my ipod will no longer turn on. I fully charged the ipod until the "charged" icon appeared. Then I disconnected it. A couple hours later I tried to turn it on and it no longer turns on. I've had this iPod for about 6 months and I'm pretty sure it's not a dead battery. It's been very good with me. The hold switch is NOT activated. I went through all of the common sense troubleshooting steps. I tried to reset the ipod. I tried recharging it on AC power. I tried reconnecting it via USB on computer. I tried the updater, which doesn't work b/c ipod won't turn on. I've also tried hitting it...jk. I also have 10,330 songs on here. This is my life on my ipod. I can't afford to lose this info. 60GB gone. Is there anything else I can do to fix this? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

In the worst case, it's still under warranty (all 7th gen nanos are still under one year from purchase).
So, you disconnect it from power, and it almost immediately goes dead?  You can try a Restore... but it doesn't sound like the type of problem a Restore will fix.
You should probably have it looked by Apple Tech Support.  If there's an Apple Store nearby, you can take it to the store's Genius Bar.  To avoid waiting, you can make a reservation at the store's web page

  • HT4623 Why is it taking so long to charge ipad 24 hours and not fully charged any ideas?

This ipad does not fully charge any ideas?

How are you trying to charge it? It's best charged using its supplied power brick plugged into the wall. If you're trying to charge it via USB your results will be mediocre at best since most USB ports don't put out enough power. Same results if you are using an iPhone charger for your iPad.

  • My four-month-old macbook pro's battery when fully charged is now down to 2 hours life from 7...in the last week. Why?

I bought my macbook pro 13" about four months ago and have been in love with it ever since - especially as compared to my old PC laptop, the battery stays cool and lasts forever when I am working. Best charge was 7 hours. However, in the last week I have noticed the battery suddenly becoming hot when I unplug the charger, and the best length of time I can get on a full charge is 2 hours.
I have made sure all the settings are for prolonged battery life - which they've been since I first set up - and turned off all programmes running in the background, but this has not made any difference. I have been using iMovie a lot lately which takes a lot of battery which is probably why I didn't notice the battery being low as it automatically seems to make the battery slump to 2 hours when it's on. It's off now, and my battery won't improve.
I have also now followed the instructions (below) about calibrating, but this has had no effect. My housemate bought the same model a month ahead of me, uses it probably slightly less, but his is still 7 hours for a charge.
    Is my battery faulty?
    Calibration instructions used:
PowerBook G4 (15-inchDouble-Layer SD), MacBook (all models), MacBook Pro (all models), and MacBookPro (17-inch) (all models)
Thebattery calibration for the PowerBook G4 (15-inch Double-Layer SD) and anymodel of MacBook or MacBook Pro has been updated because of a new batteryreleased with this computer. With these computers, follow these steps tocalibrate your battery:
Plug in the power adapter and     fully charge your PowerBook's battery until the light ring or LED on the     power adapter plug changes to green and the onscreen meter in the menu bar     indicates that the battery is fully charged.
Allow the battery to rest in the     fully charged state for at least two hours. You may use your computer     during this time as long as the adapter is plugged in.
Disconnect the power adapter while     the computer still on and start running the computer off battery power.     You may use your computer during this time. When your battery gets low,     the low battery warning dialog appears on the screen.
At this point, save your     work.  Continue to use your computer; when the battery gets very low,     the computer will automatically go to sleep.
Turn off the computer or allow it     to sleep for five hours or more.
Connect the power adapter and     leave it connected until the battery is fully charged again.
Tip:When the battery reaches "empty", the computer is forced into sleepmode. The battery actually keeps back a reserve beyond "empty", tomaintain the computer in sleep for a period of time. Once the battery is trulyexhausted, the computer is forced to shut down. At this point, with the safesleep function introduced in the PowerBook G4 (15-inch Double-Layer SD)computers, the computer's memory contents have been saved to the hard drive. When power is restored, the computer returns itself to its pre-sleep stateusing the safe sleep image on the hard drive.

  • Creative Zen Vision M not fully charging

(Creative Zen Vision M not fully charging( Hi, I recently bought a refurbished ZVM that doesnt seem to charging properly. When I first got it, it hadnt been charged in quite some time so the battery was overdead. My PC couldnt detect it when I connected it via usb and it didnt even start charging at all. I then connected it to a wall charger and it finally started charging. The strange thing is it never fully charges. I've charged it twice now, both times for at least about 2 hours, and the battery doesnt go more than 50%. And when I connect it to my PC to transfer songs, instead of resuming its charge, my battery runs out. Is this a case of a faulty battery? I li've in Australia and I bought it from the USA. I would prefer not to go through the trouble of returning it if I could. Anything I should do like leaving it to charge for an even longer time? Also one more thing I should mention. When I remove the wall charger and plug it back in, it takes the ZVM sometime to detect it, about 30 minutes or so, and start charging again. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the exact same problem. I just mailed mine in for repair today.
