Motorola Headset H500

I've got my camera, got IChat up and running, but can't get the headset to connect. Bluetooth is on and discoverable.
It connects to the phone, The computer see's the phone, but won't pair either.
After reading all the replies, unable to find one scenario that fits mine.
Looked at my software updates, and software/firmware updates are all current.
Any ideas, do I need to download a driver or something.
thanks, steve

I've an H500 as well.
In order to pair the headset to start with, power the headset off, then hold down the "on" button on the headset until the light on the side of it glows a steady blue. This makes the headset itself "discoverable." Then open the bluetooth setup assistant and be sure the device you are setting up for is a "headset" not a "mobile phone." It should sync up from there!
I noticed you are on a Mac Mini, do you have a bluetooth antenna in it or are you using an adapter? If you are using an adapter, there is some trouble with getting a headset to pair. You have to specifically use the D-Link 120 Bluetooth adapter and download a special firmware update made just for that adapter. I got both a plantronics and a Motorola H500 to pair with my Mini using the D-link adapter and the firmware update. Later however, they stopped wanting to stay synced up. It was very annoying. I finally went with a USB headset. Now that I've got my MacBook I can use the bluetooth earpiece again, yay!

  • Motorola Bluetooth Headset H500 Soft Touch Black, lost in confusion.

Hi, I have a friend who gave me his old Motorola Bluetooth Headset H500 Soft Touch Black unfortunately he doesn't have any of the manuals or software that came with it because it was lost somewhere deep in piles of junk in his garage...
Anyways I'm wondering if there is a way to get it to be recognized with my MacBook. I believe he formerly used it on his cell phone. When I have my Mac search for Bluetooth devices however it doesn't find any.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

  • Motorola headset and D-link garble

I hav ejust set up my motorola headset with my D-link DBT20 ( i think thats it) When i use Skype my voice and the other voice become garbled. Why is that and how do i fix it??? thanks

Using a headset needs several steps even needed if you have the latest computer or Mac OS X release. Please make sure to follow them in order.
Download the Apple Bluetooth Firmware Updater
    Install it
Launch it from Applications > Utilities > Bluetooth Updater
Apply it to your adapter (takes very long).
Start the Apple Bluetooth Assistant and select Headset. Do not use anything else!
Make your headset Bluetooth visible. Look up the manual of your headset how to do that.
Now select the headset in System Preferences > Sound.
In most cases step 3 is missed. You have to start the installed updater yourself (do not ask me why).

  • Need Headset recommendation... my Motorola Headset is too LOUD at min vol.

Help Please! I just purchased a new iPhone (am loving it!).
Only problem is my current Motorola 500 Headset when paired with my iPhone is way too loud for my hearing even at the lowest volume settings. Have both iPhone and wireless headset volumes set to minimum.
I want to buy a new headset, but both AT&T and Apple staff tell me I'll need to do a trial and error of headsets to find a "quiet" one. '*Am hoping someone here, 'in discussions', might have a suggestion for a suitable bluetooth wireless headset.*
    Many Thanks and appreciation...

Absolutely positively the BEST headset Ive ever found so far is the one in the Apple Store:

The V-MODA VIBE Duo Earphones/Headset for iPhone
The bass on these things is incredible. Never heard such good bass in a headset.

  • Bluetooth/Motorola h500?

I am trying to get my Iphone to pair with my Motorola bluetooth H500 earpiece. No luck...is it compatible? Please help as I really don't want to have to buy another bluetooth earpiece.

The H500 is compatible with the iPhone. I just paired mine, and it works well. Make sure you follow the user's guide for both devices. First turn on bluetooth on your iPhone and make it discoverable, then let it find the headset by pushing the middle button on the headset and turning it on.

Thank you for the information.  So if I were to return the new bluetooth keyboard, should I purchase the "Palm 3169WWZ Wireless Keyboard", or is there another model I should be looking for?  (From what I can tell, I believe this one will use IR.)
    THANKS!
Correct, that's the one I use.
Be sure to download the newest driver (1.13) for the keyboard from the Palm Support pages for the keyboard:
    http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/na/keyboards/palmuniversalwirelesskeyboard/unlocked/downloads/page_...
Do not install the driver that comes with the device on the disk - 1.13 is designed for the TX and fixes a bug that existed in the original driver.

  • S11 flex Bluetooth headset no longer works with ios7

Unit connects but sound plays through iPhone or iPad. S11 is not available (even though connected) in Airplay Listing. If I hold down  mute button SIRI come on through head set. If I tell SIRI to play play list the playlist plays but music still plays through speakers on iPhone

I have a similar problem -- iPhone5, when I installed IOS 7 the S11 Motorola HD headset is NOT an option in airplay for the itunes Music player. S11 can be used for calls.  S11 is also NOT an option for Pandora OR TuneIn Radio.  However... I have a big Jambox AND appleTV that BOTH show up as working options on the iphone (thankfully).
Here is the kicker -->  The S11 DOES show up as Music player output option on my IOS7 iPad3 !!! It also allows jambox or appleTV as output options.   Seems like the problem lies with Iphone5, bluetooth,IOS7, and the S11 Motorola headset interface.
This is a BUG !!!!   Please fix it.

  • My iPhone can not remember my Bluetooth headset

I have a Linux pc + csr bluetooth USB dongle. It runs blueZ and hfpd. It works with Motorola android phone and Nokia windows phone.
I can connect with ipone, but I can not reconnect with iPhone after I power cycle my linux. The connection always refused by iphone on ssp authentication. I tried to disable SSP mode, it does not solve the problem. IPhone Bluetooth shows my Bluetooth HFP device is paired and not connected.
There has an interesting symptom. When my Linux is trying to reconnect with iPhone (always rejected by iPhone for authentication fail), if I open iPhone Bluetooth setting page, then iPhone will pop out a dialog to ask me if I want to paire the HFP device or not, if I choose YES, my Linux HFP will connect with iPhone immediately . It is really weird.
I do not want to reconnect my HFP manually every time I power cycle my Linux or iPhone. Does somebody has solution ?
BTW, my iPhone works very well with my Sony, Motorola headset and my car.
Thank you for your kindly help!

my iphone can not be identified by iTune in Win7 system in iMac

  • Output different sounds to bluetooth headset + iPhone speakers at same time

Hi I have an iPhone 4 and a bluetooth motorola headset. I'm wondering if, during a call, I can output the audio from the phone call to the bluetooth headset, and output the audio from whatever game I'm playing from the speakers.
    Thanks.

  • Bluetooth headset paired but no output

    Hi all,
    I have a Nokia bh-700 bluetooth headset with a 2g/edge iphone on 2.0.2 firmware.
The headset pairs fine with the phone, but the bluetooth icon on the main screen continues to stay dark gray, and it never turns blue even though the headset lights show that it is connected.
The problem is when I try to make/receive calls, the output still comes out of the iphone speaker, and no output comes out of the headset. I'm sure the bluetooth headset works since it works on my macbook pro.
I've tried turning wifi off, toggling bluetooth on/off, resetting the phone, pressing/holding random buttons on the headset (everything it says in the manual), etc.
I googled this problem (not for this specific headset), and it seems like some other people have this issue.
Anyone have any ideas or any fixes? I've also read some people who have the bh-700 and it works perfectly with the iphone.
    Thanks!

Having the same problem with a Motorola headset, it syncs fine but won't drive the sound through the headset.

  • Nokia HS-11W headset disconnects

I have succesfully paired my Nokia HS-11W with my PB (BT firmware 2.1 something). When using iTunes, i can listen to music successfully, but once I quit the software, reopen it and start a song I get the message:
"Your headset unexpectedly disconnected. Make sure it is turned on and in range. The audio portion of the program you were using may have to be restarted."
The only way to reactivate is to shut off the headset, restart it, listen to the beep announcing it has reconnected and start the music. the problem is you can't do this with Skype because you really have to have the sound start just after the beep or the headset gets in sleep mode again.
    Is there some solution here?
    Mark (Valparaiso, Chile)

I haven't used this headset, but I have paired a Nokia headset successfully. I have also paired a Motorola headset and Motorola earphones, although the earphones only pair using the headset profile as the high quality stereo profile is not available on the Mac OS yet.
I don't think you will have any problems pairing the headset with your PowerBook.

  • Procedure to pair a bluetooth headset to the iphone??

This is the first time that I have ever used the bluetooth on my iPhone. I just received a Motorola H550 bluetooth headset. This lists the iPhone as compatible. Is there some special procedure to follow to get it to pair? I turned on the headset and let it come on completely, then went to setting and turned on the bluetooth on the iPhone. It recognized the H550 Device, but the spinning gear continued and showed "Not Paired". It also says "Now Discoverable" Did I miss something? It has been updated to 1.1.4.
    Thanks

    Hey Herschel,
It sounds like you'll need to put the Motorola headset into a discoverable mode. Generally this is done by holding down a button or pressing multiple buttons until you see it blink. You'll have to check the manual that came with the headset to find the exact way to make the headset discoverable.
This article walks you through pairing the iPhone with a third party headset.

  • Bluetooth, iPhone 5, Motorola S805

Just received a brand new iPhone 5.  Trying to pair Motorola S805 headphones via bluetooth and the two devices will simply not connect.  In fact, the iphone 5 perpetually searches for the device and it won't recognize and allow me to pair?

Hello Rudegar and thank you for your reply.  The problem I'm experiencing seems to be familiar within the "mac forum" community as I've read several threads that detail bluetooth connection issues with the ios 6.  One caveat that I failed to disclose is that I use the iCloud service as well as Home Share.  I don't know if enabling these features has somehow conflicted with my iPhone 5 and the Motorola headset to connect via bluetooth or what.  Also, before I purchased my iPhone 5, I had an iPhone 4 but did not upgrade to ios 6, never had an issue pairing the 4 with my Motorola headphones.
Based on recent mac forums detailing connectivity issues in pairing iphone 5 (ios 6) with bluetooth enabled devices, would it be fair to conclude that this might be an apple issue due for an update?  Thanks Rudegar!

  • Nokia 6650 Fold Bluetooth Pairing with Motorola S8...

My 6650 pairs with the headphones but then gets disconnected almost immediately.  This is presumeably b/c I have not entered the passkey (0000) for the headset but so far I have not been able to figure out how to enter the passkey.    Does anyone know how to do that?

FWIW (correction): The phone finally asked me (semmingly randomly) for the headphone passcode/key but the connection still got dropped afte I input it.  I emailed Nokia support and got this reply:
"Thank you for e-mailing the Nokia Care Contact Center.
I apologize for the delay in responding to your e-mail message and greatly appreciate your patience.
I am very sorry to hear that your Motorola headset is not connecting with our Nokia 6650 Fold.
[U]nfortunately there is no way to manually input a pass code unless it is requested. Additionally, we do not support 3rd party products as Nokia manufacturer's its own line of Bluetooth headsets. I recommend contacting Motorola for further assistance.

  • Feedback for Apple on iPhone Headset

I develop software for a living. I also use a considerable amount of technology at both work and home, including using Bluetooth and Wifi to connect robots and computers together.
I've played with (4) iPhone headsets (three on exchange from the Apple store, and one friend's) over the past two days and I thought I would post my observations so Apple would have more data on which to hopefully address these issues. Most of this stuff echoes what others are saying here in these forums:
    - the headset has limited range
    - the headset drops out, or disconnects occasionally
    - the headset has a considerable amount of hiss during a call
I'm 6'8" tall. When the phone is in the opposite pants pocket (phone in left pocket, headset in right ear), I experience drop outs and disconnects with the headset. When the phone is on my desk, I experience drop outs and disconnects when about 10-12 feet away. Keeping the phone in the same-side pocket seems to work ok. Lame, but acceptable.
I went into Sam's on Sunday and experienced a complete disconnect the entire time I was in the store. Only until I left did the phone and headset re-pair with each other. This was while holding the phone in my hand, only a few feet away from the headset. I assume interference from other headsets/computers was causing this. Switching to my Motorola headset in-store, I had no problems.
I just ran a test at work with a Treo 650. Same symptoms, drop outs and disconnects. Limited distance away, ran into the same symptoms.
I also tested the iPhone headset with an iMac 24" and surprisingly it works 30' away, out of line of site, and in another room (wall between). No disconnect, no drop outs, little to no hiss. I got the exact same performance from my $50 Motorola headset.
The going theory is that the signal strength/gain in the iPhone is lower than what the computer can achieve. In the same vein, the Motorola headset probably has higher signal strength and gain than the iPhone headset, which alleviates the lower gain on the iPhone, but plays no factor when connecting directly to the (stronger signal based) computer.
Together however, the iPhone and iPhone headset are a bad pair. I'm wondering if it would be possible to boost power to the Bluetooth radio on the iPhone to help this problem? I realize that adding power on the phone doesn't increase gain on the phone, so there is still the issue with the headset transmitting a decent signal back to the phone. Perhaps a gain in power from the headset can be done via a software upgrade? Four connectors on the bottom of the unit...can it be flashed?
It's possible that the environments we are in are causing interference: http://www.mobileinfo.com/Bluetooth/FAQ.htm#t3 - perhaps the headset is being interfered with by other devices (like Wifi)?
I love the small form factor, the charging station, in-ear setup, the level of the volume, and the simplicity of the unit. However, the performance leaves a LOT to be desired.
I would like to see an Apple representitive appear here to address these concerns. Obviously disconnects experienced in one's (albeit large) pocket isn't acceptable.

I have already reported the issues to the manager of the store in my town, and she notified me that she was working on getting the issue up the chain of command.
The feedback form is a one-way communications channel, and I find it unacceptable to use in a situation where numerous users are experiencing the same issues over and over. It is unlikely that my complaint is unique, however I've tried to be as detailed as possible here so that others in the forums can focus and refine the issue so that we may become aware of what the real problem is with the unit.
I love the product, but it is clearly flawed in some fundamental way. It is far better to get this out in the open to discuss, rather than ***** and moan about it aimlessly.
I'm keeping my headset, and will continue providing as much feedback here in the forums as necessary as I work to establish a cause and solution.
    Thanks for your reply!
