Motorola SLVR L7 + iSync 1.5 + Mac OS X 10.3.9 = OK?

Hello.
Has someone already tried to sync the new SLVR L7 with Mac OS X 10.3.9 + iSync 1.5? I tried, but had troubleshoootings. If I want to update iSync, I had to upgrade Mac OS to tiger.
Can someone confirm the devide is compatible with this version of iSync?
Thx.

forget iSync 1.5, 10.3.9 and the SLVR. i tried everything but the kitchen sink. there is, however, an answer. Onsync ( http://www.onmadesoft.com/index.html ) will work with your setup. you won't get calendar and to do list. officially they do not support the SLVR but i, and others have had success with it using a usb cable (be sure to follow the slightly wacky "Serial over USB" instructions. it works. $12 but you can waste many hours without any success. i happen to know.

  • New SLVR with iSync via USB 1.1 cable

I am trying to get my new Motorola SLVR to transfer phone numbers from my address book using USB 1.1 (I have an old tear-drop mac). When iSync is open, it is not even acknowledging my new phone, even when I do a "scan".
Am I out of luck until I get a newer mac?
    It transfers songs just fine.
    Thanks,
    Phil

The Motorola SLVR L7 is supported now as an iSync device using either a USB or Bluetooth interface, but only with iSync 2.1.1 and OS X 10.4.4 or later.
The short answer, therefore, is that you will have to upgrade your hardware before you can install the software required to support your mobile handset.
If you are looking for a low-cost upgrade path, Apple periodically offers refurbished machines [with full year warranties and current OS packages] at about a 15% or so discount off of retail prices. Currently, a 1.9 GHz iMac G5 17-inch SuperDrive-equipped model with a 160 gigabyte drive is available for $ 1099.00. This package is iSight equipped, and includes FrontRow.

  • ITunes 7.1.1 (5) does not find motorola SLVR L7 w/iTunes

My Motorola SLVR L7 used to sync with iTunes. No longer, since the upgrade to iTunes 7.1.1.
With iTunes launched, I connect the phone via my USB cable, and receive the following error message -
"An iTunes-enabled mobile phone is connected, but it could not be identified. Please disconnect and reconnect the mobile phone, then try again."
I noticed similar topics in this section, but I've tried several of the recommendations, without success.
I've tried the following approaches -
    1) eject the SD card from the desktop, disconnect phone from cable, reconnect phone to cable, launch iTunes - no success
    2) #1 + reformatting the SD card from the phone in between the disconnect/reconnect
    3) reformatting the SD card from the Mac (using Disk Utility -> MS-DOS FAT-16 format), then all steps in #1
    4) download latest iTunes, to open the package, to install the iTunesPhoneDriver.pkg - reboot - no success
Is there another solution out there?

I tried re-installing the phone drivers one more time, maybe with the minor difference that the phone was connected via USB at the time. This time, iTunes recognized the phone before the restart.

  • TS1539 Will itunes allow the syncing of a motorola slvr 7 on my windows xp system?  If so, how do I do it? I want to sync to itunes

I have an old Motorola SLVR 7 phone that I was able to download/sync 100 songs from my itunes.  Now I can't.  The SLVR doesn't show up on itunes any longer.  Is there any way I can.  I have Windows XP. Thanks.

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive.  It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas?  I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

You should collect a crash log and send it to Apple so that the engineers can look at it.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
So, get the machine setup to collect crash logs, do the thing that makes iTunes crash. Send it to the Apple moderator as well as information about what version of iTunes you're using. Tell her Toonz sent you. It doesn't hurt to put the URL to this discussion thread, so that whoever gets it has some context.

  • Trying to use iTunes with Motorola SLVR

Just got a Motorola SLVR from a friend and wanted to add my own music to the phone. After installing the latest version of iTunes I keep receiving the message "iTunes cannot read the contents of the mobile phone ~SLVR~." Anyone have any suggestions to help get this resolved.

This was suggested in another forum; don't know if it will help and I cannot verify that it won't cause problems as I haven't tried it myself, but perhaps it will help for your situation:
Plug the phone into the computer, go to My Computer and double-click the drive that the phone is showing up as to open it. You should see two folders; select the iTunes folder and delete. Now unplug the phone, open iTunes and plug the phone back in and see if it then will be recognized by and sync with iTunes.
    Hope this helps.

  • Motorola SLVR L7 not mounting in iTunes 7.0.2

Hi everyone! Please if anyone has any advice for my problem, I would be grateful. I just bought a Motorola SLVR L7 phone from The Source by Circuit City here in Ontario Canada. It comes pre loaded with iTunes software, and I am suppose to be able to import songs through iTunes on my Computer to the phone, but for some reason the phone is not mounting in iTunes. I formated the phones memory card through both Windows XP Pro, and the phone software. I have uninstalled iTunes, and reinstalled the latest version 7.0.2 but still when I connect the phone it does not show up in the source list in iTunes. ITunes doesn't launch automatically when I connect the phone to the USB data cable that came with it. The weird thing is the phone is mounting in Windows XP Pro with no problem. I see it as a Removable Disk, and can even transfer MP3's or other files to the memory card, but iTunes doesn't see the phone still. I haven't been able to find to many topics that have helped me thus far, and the Apple knowledge base offered zero help. My computer consists of Windows XP Pro, Intel Pentium 4 Processor at 1.8Ghz, 512MBDDR RAM, Nvidia Geforce 4 MX440 video card at 64MB RAM.
Intel Pentium 4   Windows XP Pro   512MB DDR RAM, Nvidia Geforce MX440 64MB

An update to what is happening. I used "safely remove hardware" to eject the SLVR device in Windows, unplugged the SLVR phone, and then quit iTunes. When I reconnected the phone to the USB data cable, iTunes opened automatically as if I were connecting an iPod, but it still didn't mount or show in the source list : (

Nokia has two different programs for mac users.
    1. iSync plugin (to sync contacts and calender)
    2. Nokia Multimedia transfer ( photos/video/music/bookmark)
have you installed isync plugin for your N95 device?
    plugin is available here: http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/product-support/isync/compatibility-and-download
    Installing the plug-in
Make sure you have installed all available updates from Apple using Software Update. Minimum requirements are Mac OS X 10.4.9 with iSync 2.4 to use the plug-in unless otherwise stated.
Check the list above to see if your phone needs a plug-in. If so, download the plug-in disk image to your desktop.
Make sure iSync is not running.
Double-click the downloaded plug-in disk image. A virtual disk will open in Finder.
Double-click the enclosed plug-in installer package to start the installation.
After the installation is complete, you can eject the virtual disk and move the disk image file to the Trash.
You can now start iSync with the plug-in installed.
You can download Nokia multimedia transfer from here: http://europe.nokia.com/A4423134

  • Motorola SLVR L7 and iSync - or sync to an internet server...

Just bought it yesterday, surprised that it is not supported by iSync. I've got the latest OS X version, iSync version. Worked great with my RAZR, what is the timing for SLVR? How long do I have to keep the phone in the box before it is useful to me?
Alternatively, the phone does have sync capabilities to an internet server. If I have my contacts and calendar synced here at .mac, is there a way to access that server? Settings asked for in the phone are:
    Name:
    URL:
    User Name:
    Password:
    Data paths -
    Address Book:
    Datebook:
I obviously know my user name and password; what are the other things to fill in for my .mac account?

Did a software update, which included a 100MB update to OS X. Re-paired my SLVR with my laptop, and in doing so, it enabled iSync. So now it works. Go figure.
Still would like an answer about syncing over the internet, though, if possible.

  • Motorola W755 and iSync under 10.6.2

Although I was able to sync my Motorola W755 cellphone with my Macbook under 10.5xxx and even the early versions of 10.6 (using a third-party plugin), it seems that 10.6.2 has broken that. I can sync contacts by not calendar events (iCal.) Has anybody written a workaround for this? It's pretty important to have my calendar in my phone. The plug-in is where it should be. I've even tried reinstalling it. I also tried using Time Machine to restore it. Alas, I can no longer sync the calendar. (Weird that I can sync contacts but not the calendar.) Looking forward to finding someone who can help. Thank you.

I must politely take issue with your assertion that nothing in 10.6.2 would break a plug-in for a Motorola phone, because something certainly changed when I upgraded from 10.6.1
You're assuming something changed from Apple's end. What about the data you're trying to sync. That could've changed.
iSync itself has not changed at all since Mac OS X 10.6 came out. There were no changes to iSync in 10.6.1 or in 10.6.2. It's exactly the same version and build number.
I've repaired permissions to no effect. Is there something else I could try?
Have you tried resetting the sync history in iSync's preferences? Or resetting sync services by alt-clicking the Sync menu bar item?
Often unexplained syncing issues are the result of corruption occurring in one or more contacts or calendars.
If you have multiple calendars set to sync in iSync, try only syncing one at a time until you find the one that causes it to fail.
Then export this calendar from iCal, delete it then re-import it. This export/import process often fixes corruption in events.
What does the iSync log (Window menu in iSync) report when it tries to sync the calendar?

  • Connecting Motorola E815 to iSync

I have just bought a E815 and was able to set it up to use my Macbook's Bluetooth capabilities (though Bluetooth Setup), however when I try to isync it, it tells me connection to the phone failed. Whyy!!! So I bought a motorola chord (AAKN4011A), after learning that Verizon disables certain bluetooth capabilities, and yet success is not mine. I am still unable to connect my e815 to isync. Please!!! If there is a driver or pluggin or some way a novice can sync up without heavy hacking, please do tell. Myself and many, many others it seems will be very greatful.
    macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I have successfully used iSync in the past. Today I tried to sync and it would not complete the process. I disabled the option to update calendars and it worked fine. It's a little annoying to not be able to transfer calendar info but I guess that numbers and e-mail address are really more important. If anybody has any other suggestions I would appreciate it.
    Thx,

  • ISync Updates in Mac OS X 10.5.2

Mac OS X 10.5.2 is out:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1052comboupdate.html
This release adds support for a massive TWO (old) phones to iSync:
    Samsung D600E and Samsung D900i
and those are just minor variations of phones already supported in iSync.
Something tells me Apple isn't really interested in supporting other manufacturers phones anymore.

Well my friend sound pretty weid to me cause they have their own phone and they want all of us in this bussiness too L>O>L .
But lets wait for their good monopolized minds to change.
I think this is an easy **** for them to fix after all.
And in my case, Motorola is not doing anything abouti it, it just open the iPhoto in my MBPro.
The manual said that the phone is like a hard disk in mac but mine said no to the process.
    Dont worries bro.

  • MotoMing (aka Motorola A1200) with iSync

It appears that the Motorola MotoMing (aka A1200) is not a supported device for iSync - does anyone know if there's a plug-in to rectify this or whether there's another program out there that will allow me to back-up my contacts and sync with the Address Book / Calendar functions on my mac?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Whether the Ming model you plan to use ships with the Linux OS or with Windows Mobile, there will be no iSync plug-in, as no support exists in the application for either operating system.
iSync supports many Symbian and most Palm OS devices.
Support for Windows Mobile 5 and earlier—and, soon—Windows Mobile 6 devices, is available from Mark/Space. Limited Windows Mobile support, including a beta release for Windows Mobile 5 devices, is available from Information Appliance Associates.
Support for Blackberry devices is also available from Mark/Space, and from Information Appliance Associates.

  • Motorola KRZR and isync problems

I just got my motorola KRZR, paired it with my computer and everything, then when i try to sync my contacts on isync it says "this device is not supported by isync. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something with the phone Im notdoing right? help!

I have the Silver KRZR from Rogers here in Canada and I managed to hack the MetaClasses file so it works! I will post a link to my file below, and also tell you how I made the change.
    My file is here: MetaClasses.plist
Do this to make it work:
    1. Quit iSync
    2. Go to: /Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/ PlugIns/Motorola-K1.phoneplugin/Contents/Resources
    3. Replace the MetaClasses.plist with the one I linked to above
    4. Restart iSync - it should work with the phone now.
Again, I have the silver KRZR, so this might not work for you specifically if you have a different one. If it doesn't, here is how you can hack on the MetaClasses.plist file.
    1. Connect your phone to your computer with Bluetooth or USB (I used Bluetooth)
    2. Open up iSync
    3. Try to add a device, and scan for devices. It should come back with your phone and a message saying it is not supported.
    4. Quit iSync
    5. Open up /Applications/Utilities/Console
    6. View the console.log, scroll to the bottom
    7. You're looking for some text like this:
    {quote:title=console.log :}Bluetooth Device Info Summary:
    svc/maj/min class: 721 / 2 / 1
    manufacturer: AT+CGMI
    +CGMI: "Motorola CE, Copyright 2000"
    OK
    model number: AT+CGMM
    +CGMM: "GSM900","GSM1800","GSM1900","GSM850","MODEL=K1/s"
    OK
    {quote}
You're looking for the two strings there ("Motorola CE, Copyright 2000", "GSM900","GSM1800","GSM1900","GSM850","MODEL=K1/s") Note the model number at the end of the second string. This is your phone's Model Number and is how iSync will identify it.
    8. Go to: /Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/ PlugIns/Motorola-K1.phoneplugin/Contents/Resources and make a backup of the MetaClasses.plist file
    9. Open the MetaClasses.plist file in a text editor
    10. Copy everything from <key>com.motorola.K1</key> (line 5) to </dict> (line 34) and paste it immediately below (you can look at my file for an example here). What we're doing is making another type of KRZR K1 subtype. We will be editing this text we just pasted in the steps that follow:
    11. Change the <key> line 35 to have your phone Model number instead of K1. My model number is K1/S, so my key line reads: <key>com.motorola.K1/S</key>
    12. Change the <string> line 40 to have your gmi+gmm values, which we found in the console log above in step 7. They are probably exactly the same except for the MODEL part at the end.
    13. Change the model number in the <string> line 60 to be your model number which we found above. Mine is K1/S, so my line 60 reads: <string>K1/s</string>
    14. Save the file and restart iSync
15 Your phone should show up as supported now.
I hope this helps. I have not tried to sync calendars, but Address Book seems to work fine.
