MOTU 828 cuts out for a split second intermittently

Listening to iTunes. through a 828 mkII.
Mac Pro. 8 core. 2.8GHz. 6 GB RAM. Leopard X.5.2
apps open at the time:
iChat, Safari, iTunes, adress book, iCal
The music cuts out for a split sec intermittently. The music also cuts out when I close an app, like the intermittent click but longer. Is this common? any thoughts?

I have noticed this also, but I think it is an iTunes problem and not the 828. It happens to me a few times since one of the recent iTunes updates, but haven't noticed it lately.

  • All of my Itunes songs keeps going in and out for a split second

Every time I am using Itunes lately on my Imac the songs go in and out or pause for a split second.  I do not understand why this is happening - it happens on old songs and new songs that I have purchased.
    PLEASE HELP!!!

The linki LéonieDF gave for the rebuild workflow was for iPhoto 8 (09) and earlier.  For iPhoto 11 this is the workflow to follow:
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Audio cuts out for a few seconds

    Hi,
I'm not sure if anyone is experiencing this but it happens to me all the time and it's so so annoying.
When playingback the timeline on CS6 the audio cuts out at random places and then it comes back, then it goes again for a few seconds then back again,..while video keeps on playing.....this is just random and it can happen as soon as you press play or after a few seconds and it happens when audio is stereo, mono, mp3,wav,aif, you name it.
Also, it happens regardless of playback quality or timeline render status (red, yellow or green). My computer is quite fast + 24gb RAM so I dont think the PC is a problem, It also happens on a different computer within our studio.
Needless to say that editing under these circumstances is becoming impossible/frustrating and I'm even considering finding other software to edit with! I've found others with this same problem at cretive cow http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/935424
If anyone from Adobe reads this, please help!!!
    thanks in advance

Unfortunately there's no fix for this problem that plagues Classic since release. Considering that a new generation appeared I guess we have no reason to expect a fix anymore.
I also have the problem and it makes the iPod Classic less desirable to be used as a music player than a generic $10 (no name) usb stick.

  • Audio randomly cuts out for a few seconds

After an hour or more of use, audio on my 160 GB iPod Classic randomly stops for about five seconds, then resumes. This problem doesn't happen often, but will happen two or more times during a couple of hours of play. This problem does not seem to be related to the music that is playing at the time.
I'm wondering if Apple is going to issue a firmware update that might fix this problem.

  • Volume cuts out for split second and then comes back very low

I have an old Ipod Classic that I listen to on my Bose docking station. Every now and then the sound cuts out for a split second and then continues playing only it's too low to really hear so I have to turn the volume back up.
It did this twice today when I was listening to.
It was doing this every now and then a few months back and then stopped.
Has anyone had this problem and know what could be causing it to happen?

  • When i home share my itunes music from my macbook pro to my apple tv 3, it cuts out every 10-15 seconds for a split second. HELP PLEASE!

Every 10 or 15 seconds, the song with cut out or drop out for a split second, then continue. Though it can be looked past, it is so annoying! Advise would be much appriciated.

Sorry i also forgot to add that my macbook pro is a few years old, and i use a program called airparrot to airplay videos, but i beleive that airplay and home sharing is totally different..correct me if i'm wrong. thanks.

  • Hi, I am having trouble MacBook Air crashing since Yosemite upgrade. I ran an Etresoft check but I don't know what it means... my system runs slowly and crashes. I have to force shutdown. Sometimes screen is black for a split second b/w webmail pages

    Hello,
I am having trouble with my MacBook Air 13 inch June 2012 MacBook Air5, 2 4GB RAM  details below in Etresoft report. I recently upgraded to Yosemite and am having system trouble. My computer crashes and I have to force quit to restart. When using webmail there is a black screen for a split second between pages. This did not happen before. I am worried that it is not running properly and perhaps I need to revert to the previous operating system. I only have a MacBook Air and no need to share images between a tablet or phone so I did not need the new photo sharing software of Yosemite. I wonder if I don't have enough RAM to run it? I did not run time machine before I made the upgrade as I did not realise the significance of an upgrade as not very Mac literate. Any advice on whether my system is in danger... most appreciated! I am writing a book and making a back up but this machine is my lifeline and my work is conducted through it. It ran perfectly before... the Yosemite upgrade has perhaps highlighted some problems and it has unnerved me!
Thanks ever so much for your advice!
    Lillibet

When you have kernel panics, the pertinent information is in the panic report.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.

  • [SOLVED] Xorg Strangeness- Running startx runs xorg for a split second

As in the subject, I am trying to run startx on my Arch (x86_64) machine for the first time since installation, however X only runs for a split second before quitting.. I've checked the log, but there aren't any errors that pop up to tell me what's going on.  What I've been doing that I think may affect the answer:
Installed proprietary nvidia drivers that I downloaded off of nvidia's website (though I removed it by running sudo ./driver.run -uninstall)
Installed nvidia drivers from the repository (sudo pacman -S nvidia nvidia-utils)
shut off nouveau drivers (blacklisted nouveau in /etc/modprobe.d)
Ran nvidia-xconfig to generate new xorg.conf file
/var/log/Xorg.0.log shows nothing with (EE), so I assume that everything is going smoothly, however still can't get X to work.  Any help would be appreciated.  Google's let me down so far.
Perhaps some fresh eyes could help me

It may even be simpler than that. If this is a new installation, a desktop environment or window manager may not be installed. In that case, the Xorg server has nothing to do. Install a desktop environment or window manager and see if Xorg continues running once it has something to do.
Listen to this man. What I meant by Xorg dependencies is that people usually install xterm, xclock, etc so they have a very basic WM set up so they can see that Xorg is in fact working. Try setting up a .xinitrc with the following in it:
    exec startxfce4 --with-ck-launch
Or even try to launch it manually with:
    $ startxfce4

  • ITunes doesn't open and agreement page opens for a split second then leaves

Hi well i posted this thread a while back but never got a response soo I though maybe if I post a new one you would see me, sorry if im a burden but I really need the help. Okay well i just uninstalled iTunes because I already had problems with it but now, I just got my iPod and installed the cd on my computer. Then I click on iTunes and the agreement page comes up for one split second then exits out.Well heres all my Inof.I have Norton Anti Virus 2005, Windows XP, Microsoft Firewall (off), i have service pack 2 for microsoft and all the necessary updates are downloaded. I didnt download the optional upgrades only the ones that said were needed. please help me.
    -Danny =]
Sony Vaio   Windows XP   i like cs and itunes and warcraft ALOT =)

    HI danny!
sorry you got no response last time. PPLE post and post and post and before you know it, your thread is buried six feet deep under other threads.
Ok, so you described your problem to me. I think its a particular malware program thats going around and it causes exactly what you described. BUT, because you do have Nortan 2005, its QUITE possible that is the culprit. Norton and itunes dont play nice together. Norton thinks its a malicious program and blocks it from opening. Its a pain, i know, but First, try turning OFF norton before you launch iTunes and report back to me about what happens.
    Cheers,
    Rachyl

  • Why does my media appear offline for a split second? It's messing up my exports! FCP 7.0.3

Every so often, while I'm working, I'll see some of my media go red, with the slash, just for a split second. Just a red flicker almost. It doesn't require me to reconnect or anything, which is weird, as FCP usually makes me go through all the steps of reconnecting.
I'm working off of servers, managed through EditShare. I work for a local TV station, so I don't know all the ins and outs of our network. But this isn't the real problem....The issue above doesn't really matter. I don't even notice it happen most of the time. But, I believe it's the root of my real problem.
You see, I like to use "Share..." instead of export, which lets me continue to edit other things while it background exports in a small, floating window. THE PROBLEM is if my media 'flickers' during a 'share export' I get the red 'MEDIA OFFLINE' page in my video. If I 'Share' it again, it always comes out fine. But that 'MEDIA OFFLINE' page has made it to TV occasionally.
VERY embarrassing. And nobody wants to hear it only happened because I wanted save time.
So, I'll just have to double-check EVERY clip I export this way, which is super annoying. Anyone have any advice?

You might try doing a "send" to compressor, instead of share, which also allows you to continue working.    But it might have the same problem.  I don't work with shared storage and I generally prefer to do a self contained export at current settings (which if your project is fully rendered is pretty fast) and then bring it into compressor for compression which allows me to continue working.  But I do occasionally use the "send" to compressor function (again without shared storage) continue editing, and have never seen this problem

  • HT204406 some of the songs i have downloaded from iclouds cut out after about 50 seconds? Has anyone else had this problem?

Some of the songs I have downloaded from iclouds cut out after about 50 seconds when i play them? Has anyone else had this problem and if so did you manage to fix it.
    Thanks

I've had this happen several times... I suspect the download was interrupted for some unreported reason so it only has a partial file or has a corrupt byte in the file it failed to catch.
Just delete the local copy and re-download from the cloud and they play fine.

  • Itunes samples are cutting out after a few seconds

When I sample a song recently, it cuts out after 10-15 seconds instead of the usual 1:30.
Did I adjust my settings somehow or is this a systems issue?
I have tried re-loading Itunes into the latest version, but the problem continues.
Thanks in advance for the help.

thanks Rob but can you provide more info? Do you know where I can find this folder on Windows 7? I checked with the local Helpdesk in my company but they would like more info
Also, is there any help page that gives details such as this?
    thanks again

  • I have downloaded a CD from iTunes onto my matchbook pro but the first three songs cut out after a few seconds? Help!

I have downloaded a CD from iTunes onto my Macbook pro but the first three songs cut out after a few seconds? Help!

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the current copies from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.
