MOTU Ultralite MK3 headphone output

Hi All
I would appreciate some assistance if anybody has been through this problem.
I am unable (despite reading the manual) to get my output from logic pro 8 to outputs 7+8 on the Mk3 (for my headphone amp) unless I change the all the channel outputs within the Logic mixer to the corresponding channel outputs for 7+8.
I would like to have my Uktralite Mk3 send (via a bus?) the output from the Main outputs also to outputs 7+8 where I will connect my headphone amplifier. I have tried to work though this but it's driving me nuts. I would appreciate the indivual steps to make this happen.
I am a newbie so I apologise if this is basic stuff.
Thanks

MOTU offer the same workaround as above. This from their site incase anybody else has the same issue. Still can't believe you can't mirror the main outs within Cuemix and send them to the other outputs.
How do I hear the output of my DAW on more than one bus in CueMix?
Each CueMix bus is a mix of:
1. The input sources that you are monitoring in the CueMix Console
2. Any audio playing back from your computer that is assigned to the same outputs that your CueMix busses are assigned to
So to hear the output of your DAW on more than one bus in CueMix, in your DAW you will need to route the audio playing back to the same outputs that your CueMix busses use.
For example, let's say you're using an 828mkII and you'd like to create two monitor mixes, and the output of your DAW needs to be heard in each mix. We'll say the first CueMix bus is assigned to Main Out 1-2, and the second CueMix bus is assigned to Analog 7-8.
In Digital Performer, you would follow these steps:
* Assign all of your tracks' outputs to bus 1-2
* Create two aux tracks, both with bus 1-2 as their input
* Set the output of the first aux track to Main Out 1-2, and the output of the second to Analog 7-8
* Now all audio is being routed to bus 1-2, and is in turn routed to both Main Out 1-2 and 7-8
You can do the same thing in other DAWs by following similar steps to route your audio through a bus to multiple outputs; check your DAW's documentation for specific details.

  • Mainstage 3 / MOTU Ultralite Mk3 Hybrid driving me crazy

    Hi,
I get constant dropouts when trying to use MainStage 3.0.4 with MOTU Ultralite Mk3 Hybrid interface. And everytime the dropouts happens I get these messages in the console. Sometimes over several hundreds of them when things are really bad.
AND...it gets worse whenever I go to a rehearsal or live onstage. Go figure that one out!
kernel[0]: IOAudioStream[0xffffff8052709000]::clipIfNecessary() - Error: attempting to clip to a position more than one buffer ahead of last clip position (1e2,158)->(1e5,428).
I do not get these errors when using internal audio only.
I get no help from MOTU who are saying that there's no problem with the hardware.
I have received a second MOTU Ultralite interface. Same problem.
I have tried both USB (with nothing on the bus except the interface) and Firewire (over Thunderbolt-adapter). Same problem.
    What is happening?
    Please help me!

    OS version: OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)

Nope, no good. Seemed like it was going to behave. I left the computer idling on my MainStage-concert and when I came back i had these in the console....

  • MIDI in via Motif ES USB or MOTU Ultralite MK3 MIDI in

    Hi,
which MIDI configuration do you suggest?
    1. MIDI out from Yamaha Motif ES6 -> MOTU UltraLite-mk3 Hybrid MIDI in -> MacBook Pro 2012
    or
    2. USB MIDI from Yamaha Motif ES6 -> MacBook Pro 2012
Maybe it make no difference which one I choose. However, the following statement can be found on the MOTU site here:
"Sample-accurate MIDI — connect a MIDI controller and/or sound module with no separate interface needed. MIDI I/O is sample-accurate with supporting software."
    /Mattias

    do you speak japanese?
seriously - the first problem i had with the ultralite was that i didnt know you needed to install the software before plugging it in . . hope that helps.

  • Motu Ultralite MK3 Hybrid with Logic X problem

    Hi,
    Has anyone had this problem:?
I'm using the Ultralite hybrid with logic X on an iMac i5,
Tried to change the sample rate in Recording settings from 44 to 96 and it totally freezes Logic up until I turn off the Motu.
normally this should switch the motu over to 96 aswell (well it did on Logic 8 no problem)
so now I'm stuck with only 44 to work with.
Kinda ***** as a lot of my projects are recorded at 96..
I also tried changing the sample rate with the mac core audio (no motu)
and it works fine. So I know this is probably a Motu problem but just wondered if anyone here is having the same problem.
I have updated all drivers and firmware and no change.
    Hope someone can help.

    Hi Everyone,
I'm back, unfortunately with the same problem.
After all the formatting, installing etc.. Everything was going ok, i even composed a whole piece at 96000
and upon starting a new project I went to change the sample rate again and I had the same problem.
Massive crashes, it's like the north pole here. I tried restarting , factory defaults on the motu, etc etc
Logic X runs great without the motu coneccted. what ever sample rate.
It's the strangest thing ever because I downloaded Reaper and it runs great, no problem changing sample rates and solid as a rock.
My old macbook 2009 (running mavericks and logic x) runs perfect, with the motu. I can change sample rates no problem.
Thing is ,the Imac is my main computer beacause it has the most RAM and can run heavy plugins like addictive keys etc.
I thought i might be a problem with the USB ports but Reaper proved me wrong.
    I'm a at a total loss.
I can't run a hardware test on mavericks, I can't figure out how.

  • Motu Ultralite MK3 users.. need your help

    Hi;
I discovered this problem today. My Motu's display keeps turning on and off, producing a "pop" sound everytime it does it!! Not sure why this is happening all of a sudden. I reinstalled the drivers as well. I suspect its got to do with my firewire connection. Something is causing it to go haywire. Anyone else experienced this?? Appreciate the help.
    J.

  • MOTU Ultralite looses its FW connection at regular intervals

    Hello Friends
here is a real frustrating problem !
I have the MOTU Ultralite mK3 FW soundcard. First when I plug the FW cable and the computer is off I get a regular churning noise from my MAC
When the MAC is on; no churning noise , but the connection seems to go on an off status , LCD flickers on and off at regular intervals , the backlite leds go up and down the unit goes beserk !! though I might add it initializes fine when first powered on
I have tried all the basic trouble shooting , 'changing cables , pluging different FW devices these all work !!!!)
I even plugged the ULTRALITE on my PC computer , and guess what !! it works fine !! no problemo !!!*
I have tried to contact MOTU but there tech service is god **** awful , it has been a month now.
I think maybe the 10.5 os upgrade might be the reason , because I did have the unit working when I first got it !
    Any help is appreviated !!!

    hi friends
thanks for your insight !! however problem remains the same even after the suggestions
yes trying to' isolate' the problem , but here it is !!!
the MOTU Unit works no problem on my PC computer , I have tried (even got a brand new FW cable) Plugging Other FW units work fine on my G5 .
The MOTU works fine with the power supply , but as soon as the FW is plugged , it freaks out !!
Here is a video link of exactly how the MOTU behaves

    what do you think ???

  • Motu Ultralite with Mainstage - No output form Mic 2

I plug the 'guitar' into the front Mic 1 socket and all works and sounds great.
I plug into Mic 2 in the back of the motu Ultralite and I get no sound, yet the meters on the LCD panel are showing input volume. Out is not happening from Mic 2.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Gary

OK, after looking at the setup stuff on the Ultralite it is actually a mixer, so stuff that is going to the inputs is getting routed to main outputs by the Cuemix software for the interface.
When you set the output of the strip on Mainstage to another set of outputs it is routing the softwares output to the 3-4 outputs but the mixer inside the Ultralite is routing the input signals (likely unprocessed) back to the outputs.
It looks like if you turn the software faders for the Main out mix for your guitar inputs all the way down Mainstage will see the inputs but the wont be routed to the Main output for monitoring...

  • Can't send mono outputs from Logic 9 to my Motu Ultralite

Hi all, any help would be most appreciated. I want to send mono channels from Logic 9 to my Soundcraft mixer via my Motu Ultralite in order to try out some live dubbing. When I set a channel to mono nothing comes out of the Motu. I can make it work by panning things left and right but surely there is a better way?! I went through all the mono outputs but none seem to work.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers
    Jamie

    Work
I have a Powermac G5 at work and tried with the Mail Client and with Entourage. Both were successfull.
    Home
My ISP at home is All2Easy.net, but I also recently signed up for MSN, I'm not sure if you can even set up the computer to send through MSN though. I have tried smtp.email.msn.com but can't get it to work (not sure if it is because I can't send anything, or if they are the wrong settings)
I have it set to "log-in requires authentication". The settings hadn't changed when the problems started occuring though. An interesting new development is that I can't connect through All2Easy anymore (I chose them for the price).

  • PROBLEM WITH MACBOOK PRO 2.4 Dual Core and MOTU Ultralite

    Hello,
I Recently bought a macbook pro to have for my Live appearance.
I also had a motu Ultralite which worked super well with my Pc and with the macbook the first days
One day i had to play live in a club so i connect my soundcard but the macbook wont recognize it coz i cant see the popup window that i get everytime i connect my motu on it...i rebooted the soundcard then the laptop nothing...i started sweating coz my live performance would start in 20 minutes noting came out of it so i cancelled the gig for the moment and played a Dj set instead.
When i got home i connected the card again and was working perfectly till yesterday..So i thought there was something wrong with the Power in the Venue or something like that.
Yesterday i connected the soundcard and again does the same any other firewire device was working properly.
I searched online and saw there is alot of people having the same issue but no solution.can someone tell WHY sometimes it works and sometimes doesnt??its very stupid to have 2 machines with a cost of 2500 euro almost and they dont work well together
    Op system: Leopard 10.5.7
    Motu ultralite Mk2 firmware: 1.15
    motu ultralite driver 1.4.21
    Thank you in advance

Popping in to say that I have now a fully functional Ultralite (mk3) under OS X 10.5.8 on my Macbook.
I have found that people who have upgraded the firmware to 1.15 were having problems (according to the MOTU site this upgrade isn't actually meant for the mk3 anyways) with Leopard (maybe Snow Leopard too?) and needed the 1.00 version of the firmware.
Using the drivers supplied on the MOTU CD, the device would not appear when connected to the Macbook. However, removing these from the system prior to downloading the latest MOTU Universal driver from their website seems to have solved it.
Now after installing the universal drivers from the website the device works without any problems (driver 1.4.23 of MOTU Audio Setup). Hope this helps someone

  • Motu Ultralite not working in PowerMac G5 any OS

I have a Motu Ultralite that is recognized in Audio Desk and Reason but does not produce any sound. When used as an output for iTunes it produces sound for about 1:45 then turnes to noise. I have tried most OS's from 10.4.1 to 10.4.10 with pretty much the same resuolts. I am using the latest Motu drivers. The unit works on other Macs but not mine. I have a PCI graphics card not the AGP one that comes with the MAC. I am using 4.5 gigs of RAM. The firewire ports on the computer seem to be ok when moving data to and from an external drive. Motu support could was no help at all. I am posting here because I hope to reach readers who use audio interface cards. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Power Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   4 G RAM, PCI Video Card

Hey, this is a tricky one. May I suggest trying the following:
    1. Disconnect all other Firewire devices
    - to remove the possibility of something causing a conflict
    2. Try a different Firewire cable
    - may be subtly damaged
    3. If possible try another Firewire audio interface
    - will prove that your Mac and it's Firewire ports are ok
    - it's possible that when you're using a hard drive that if there are read/write errors OS X is doing error correction so you're not seeing any noticeable difference in performance, whereas with audio, it's a continuous stream and errors that are occurring you're hearing as noise
    4. If possible try a different Ultralite
    - will prove that your current ultralite is faulty
Basically, try to isolate whether the issue is with the Ultralite or your Mac.

  • My Fall 2009 system DVI output to our HDTV doesn't include audio.  Connecting the Macbook headphone output to the TV's RCA plugs works if TV is in AV (PC) mode, but no picture.  DVI to HDMI adapter to TV works fine for picture, but no audio.

My Fall 2009 model Macbook Pro DVI output apparently doesn't include audion.  Adapting DVI to HDMI works with new LG TV, but doesn't provide sound.  Connecting the Macbook headphone output to the TV's RCA jacks give sound with the TV in AV (PC) mode, but no video.  Is there a fix for this?  Search for a DVI to HDMI adapter that includes a plug for the headphone jack comes up empty, so far.

DVI has never included audio, sorry.
There is also no DVI->HDMI adapter including a plug for audio; such thing cannot work without quite a bit of electronic extra effort.
Instead of much bla-bla, why don't you tell the exact TV model, and we'll try to come up with a solution?
BTW, no home theater AV receiver present, correct? Sound to come from the TV, correct?

  • Headphone output stopped working (snd-hda, Dell XPS 13)

Update: I got it working! See my second post; I will leave this here as a reference for those with the same problem.
My headphone output stopped working, and my integrated microphone also stopped working. The speakers work fine, though.
AFAIK, I didn't do anything, and am quite baffled as to why this is. It's worked fine for half a year.
I have a Dell XPS 13; it came installed with Ubuntu, I booted that, where it *does* work (just to eliminate hardware problems).
    I'm running 3.16.4-1; I also downgraded to 3.16.3, which didn't help.
I'm testing with speaker-test and mplayer -ao alsa; I normally use PulseAudio, but eliminating that for testing seemed like a sane thing to do. It doesn't work either way.
I also downloaded the hda_analyzer, that has a lot of options, but I'm not sure what most of them mean...
The closest I've been able to get at the problem is this:
    [~]% alsactl monitor
    card 0, #17 (0,0,0,Headphone Mic Jack,0) VALUE
    card 0, #17 (0,0,0,Headphone Mic Jack,0) VALUE
This is an insert & remove of my headphone jack; ALSA does detect something it seems. It's listed as "Headphone Mic Jack", is this right?
Any hints would be greatly appreciated!
    More info:
    [~]% cat /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
    options snd-hda-intel enable=0,1
    options snd-hda-intel model=dell-headset-multi,dell-headset-multi
This is required to get this to work in the first place, and always has worked; I tried some other options, to no avail. the enable=0,1 is to disable the HDMI output (disabling this has no effect either).
    $ cat /sys/module/snd_hda_intel/parameters/model
    dell-headset-multi,dell-headset-multi,(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null), +(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null)
To verify these options are actually being used
    $ id -Gn
martin wheel video audio vboxusers nfs
I'm in the audio group, not sure if this is required, but can't hurt.
    [~]# cat /etc/asound.conf

Update: I mucked about more after making this post; I installed gnome-alsa-mixer and checked the "internal mic" option and "Auto-Mute mode" (both were off), after this my headphone output works again, and does the built-in microphone (!)
I have no idea how I ended up in this "broken" situation, or even what this option does, or how to use it without gnome-alsa-mixer (I had to install 15 packages to get this, as I normally don't use gnome)... Sound on Linux still seems no better than when I started using it 15 years ago :-( (I spent about 5 hours on this...)
