Mount webdav folder on OS Lion

Hi I have iomega ix2-200 cloud edition nas drive and use it on regular basis thru wireless connection on afp command. The drive can easily be mounted on finder.
The issue arises when I am outside (home network) and want to access nas drive. Currently, I am using filezilla to download/upload information however it is getting messier every time due to amount of files being edited.
I was reading thru article and came across WebDAV secure link which is available on this device. I have enabled and successfully connected my win7 machine ( as mapped WebDAV folder). Mac however does not want to know, even though I am sure connect tab does offer WebDAV connectivity.
I have already spoken to iomega support and according to them it is mac issue and not fault with nas drive. Can you please guide me on how should I mount WebDAV folder ( ie http/https) on finder.
Kind regards,
Jay

Anyone...been facing similiar problems on OS lion?

  • Mounting nas folder takes ages (only on mac)

    Hi
I have a synology DS212J. I mount my folder on my nas using finder which worked fine. but for the last few month it dosen't work properly anymore. I connect to my nas (no problem) then choose a folder (no problem) but then when I open it for example picture it takes ages to show the contends and even after a long time being open it never shows all the contends. it's not possible to work like that. I have an early 2011 macbook running m.l. i have more and more probem with m.l
I have to old laptop 5 and 7 years running win7 on them and no problem to mount the nas in seconds. I also installed win7 on my mac, and from there no problem to mount withhin seconds.
starting to think using win 7 again as my mac (moutain lion) starting to cause more and more problem.hope the next os is better...
hope anyone can help me with this issue....

QNAP firmware 3.6.0 works under Lion, but for AFP to work, you may need to delete some of the old hidden files nested within top level folders on the NAS.

  • Error copying to mounted WebDAV volume

I am getting the following error message when I try to drag and drop a file to a WebDAV volume mounted in the Finder:
"You cannot copy some of these items to the destination because their names are too long or contain invalid characters for the destination. Do you want to skip copying these items and continue copying the other items?"
I know that the files I am copying do not have either longer names or names with characters other than the files that are already in the WebDAV folder.
Any ideas? I've googled this error and found other references to it, but no solutions or explanations.
    Thanks,

sorry for the dumb question, but, how exactly do i initiate a copy in terminal?
    There are no dumb questions...
Launch the Terminal application, which is in your Utilities folder. Once started, you'll see a window with a prompt in it -- this is called a shell prompt. The "shell" (also called the "command line") is what takes your input (in the form of commands) and gives you output. In OS X, many GUI interfaces also have command line equivalents, so most everything you can do in the GUI can also be done from the command line (though less easily, for most people).
Anyway, by default the Terminal will put you in your home folder. At the terminal prompt, you could type "ls" to see a listing of all your files and folders in your home folder. You can use the "mount" command to see all the filesystems that your system has mounted. We need this information because we need to know the path to your WebDAV remote folder. For example, I mounted my .Mac iDisk (which is DAV), and when I type "mount" I see this entry in the output:
http://idisk.mac.com/glsmith/ on /Volumes/glsmith (webdav, nodev, noexec, nosuid, mounted by gls)
This tells me that the folder path /Volumes/glsmith is the root of the WebDAV filesystem. This is important because we need to know where we want to copy data.
Once we know where to copy, we use the "cp" command to do it. Something like this:
    cp myfile.txt /Volumes/glsmith/Public
will copy a file named "myfile.txt" to the folder Public on my WebDAV server. If you don't have any files in your home folder that you want to copy, use the "cd" command to move around within Terminal. For example, to go into my Documents folder, I'd do:
    cd Documents
If you're so inclined, you can read more about the command line here:

  • Save As Copy to WebDAV folder does not work

    Hi,
In Windows XP with latest reader (9.3.3), I cannot perform "Save As Copy" to a WebDAV folder. Contents of the folder is blank in the Save As dialog, and clicking the save button shows the following error:
"You Cannot Save in the Folder You Specified. Please Choose Another Location."
I was convinced that it was because Reader used the old dialog that doesn't support WebDAV as described here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/265867/en-gb
However, I then discovered that when doing the same from Windows 7 and Windows Vista, I do not experience this problem. I have since made a clean install Windows XP to a virtual PC for testing, and I get the same problem.
I found from one source that the web server should have Reader installed to register the MIME type for IIS. I installed it but to no avail.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Regards.

NB: I am using the built-in WebDAV client in Windows XP (Add Network Place with WebClient service started).
Also have a thread open on the IIS site:

  • Cannot add files recursively to a WebDAV folder

    Dear all,
I successfully setup a WebDAV folder with Access Control List on my Mac OS X 10.4 Server. I can upload and download files to this WebDAV folder with a 10-person workgroup. Everyone is able to read the write files to this folder.
However, if any of us connect to this folder through Finder and try to upload a folder, for example "folderA" with subfolders and files, I have the following 2 problems:
    1. Since "folderA" has subfolders and my WebDAV server will complained that I don't have sufficient privileges to some of the items.
    2. If "folderA" doesn't have any subfolder but it has a large number of files, WebDAV server will sometimes ask for authentication every other files.
I have already set up in Workgroup Manager so that the WebDAV folder is accessible by all memeber of my workgroup with "FULL CONTROL" and HTTP Users with "READ & WRITE". Also, in Server Admin, Web configuration, I have setup Realms to have all memeber of my workgroup to be able to Browse and Author.
Please let me know if there is any advice on this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Dear all,

  • Cannot map webDAV folder from W2K

I am trying to map my workspace using WebDAV folder from a W2K box and it keeps prompting me the user/password. If I try the same from WindowsXP box it works. Also if I use somebody else's user/password I can map to his workspace in W2k.
I tried opening a TAR but Oracle Support haven't been of any help... Any ideas?

It's rare, but we have had the same problem.
On our setup there are two ports available, 7777 and 7778. I think 7778 is a cached version.
Anyway, sometimes 7778 will work instead of 7777. I think it has something to do with the IE service pack and patch level, but I haven't experimented.
Another solution was to upgrade the machine to WinXP.
    Hope this helps.

  • Cannot access my WebDAV folder from Windows XP

I have an Xserve running Tiger server hosted remotely. It's used primarily as a web and mail server. Today I set up a WebDAV folder on the server and tested it by logging on from my MacPro using the Finder in Leopard. I had obsolutely no problem moving files to and fro, so the permissions would appear to be set correctly. However, when I boot up into Windows using Boot Camp and then try to create a new Network Place, my server won't authenticate the user from Windows. I've tried just about everything I can think of but Windows XP just can't get onto the sever. Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Create new network place with Add Network Place wizard. Even if you are connecting to a default HTTP port 80 specify the port in the address string, and the exact folder: http://example.webdavsystem.com:80/storage/.

  • [Solved] Mount webdav address via terminal or Nautilus?

    With davfs:
First write your user and password into this file:
    /etc/davfs2/secrets
    like this:
    https://webdav.pct.edu username password
then issue these commands as root:
    mkdir /mnt/pct
    mount -t davfs https://webdav.pct.edu /mnt/pct

  • Second disk and mount library folder

    Hello,
I want to buy a new ssd as 120 GB.
However, I have a lot of music or file data. So,  I want to replace super drive with ssd.
I have 500gb 5400 rpm and 120 GB ssd disk. I think install mac to ssd disk.
After than, I want to move user home folder to HDD.
However, I want storage /users/username/Library on SSD disk.
Can I Library folder storage on SSD disk and other home folder on the HDD ?
so, can I mount library folder to ssd disk after, move to home folder ?
    Thanks

First a  suggestion - put the SSD into your current hard drive bay. That's where you'll want to keep your system files, using it as a boot drive, as well as your applications, etc,
You can then install your 500GB hard drive into the optical bay with a 'data doubler' such as those available from OWC. On it you can keep all of your users files. Pretty simple thing to do.
But I do have to stress that the SSD should be placed in the current hard drive bay.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Mounting Remote Folder on a Linux ?

    Hi,
Is it possible to remotely mount a Linux volume on a mac?
(reverse of what was asked on Mounting Remote Folder on a iMac ? )
    Thanks

You can download the installers (GPL) for Fuse and SSHFS for Mac OS X 10.5 or later from:
    http://osxfuse.github.com/
Then open the Terminal.app and type sshsf... same as under Linux. Check the Finder Preferences to enable connected servers to see mounted volumes on the desktop.
Please note this is not a Mac OS X forum.

  • Webdav folder

How can I add a webdav folder under my webroot?
I found that I can make a folder under file sharing with webdav access. But how can I access this folder from the web?
    Thanks in advance!

If you have activated webdav file sharing (the folder could be everwhere), you can access webdav other this link:
    http(s)://servername/webdav
for me it only works with the finder, not in safari (i get permission denied)

As indicated in the linked article, read/write is good.
However, if you using Time Machine, and you are going to be making lots of changes and the folder is going to hold a large amount of data (like tens of GB), then choose SparseBundle so that Time Machine can work with it efficiently.

  • Finder sidebar, standard dock folders (Applications, Documents and Downloads) and home folder in English (Lion and also Snow Leopard)!

A few days before I downloaded Lion, the names of the finder sidebar, the standard dock folders and my home folder changed from German to English. What can I do to change back to German?

Well I am surprised by your answer. I thought that if you had used it, maybe something of the settings was left behind after uninstalling it.
I do not think it will solve your issue, but try it, you will never know....
