Mountain Lion 10.8.1 update the battery life get only 5:6 hrs after a full charge.
The battery life got only 5:6 hrs after installing the first update 10.8.1. Strangly the remaining time keep on changing up and down. It show remaining 2 hr, then for sometime show 3:00 hr!!! Don't know why. It looked like the battery life calculator mulfunction.
The remaining time reported is not an actual remaining time of use. It said 6 hr but in a normal use is much less than that. Say around 3:30 hr of real and normal use of my Macbook Pro.

After uploading our phones with the latest update, we have noticed that the battery life has deminished considerably. I now have to charge my phone overnight and two or three times a day. Prior to the update, my battery life lasted me at least a full day. We have several phones in our office and the ones that have updated (4) now have issue holding a charge/battery life. I really liked this phone and can not believe that you are now going to charge us $79 a battery to fix what is most definately a problem with your latest update. I know other people outside of our company that are having the same problem. Not to mention when I called AT&T it was confirmed to me that they are hearing the same issue and then some from other customers as well. Your own people, once I talked to them earlier today, told me they are showing a history of issues that are showing up after the update was put in place. Of course she tried to say, "Maybe the age of the battery and the update both contributed". Whatever.
I want you all to know how disappointed I am in your company for the handling of this issue. I always thought "Apple" was the line I didn't have to worry about having any types of issue. And that you all would stand behined your product 100%. Now I am not so sure.
I would love to hear back from your company on how you perceive the issue with all of these phones that prior to the update didn't have any issues and how after the update THEY ARE NOW having issues. I do not believe this was an issue due to the age of a battery and that was pretty lame to say so. It was fine and now its not.
Please feel free to contact me and help me figure out a way to pay for all of the batteries that will be needed for our company to contiue doing business as needed.

Only thing running on it is Chrome, and the battery life is only 3:38. Am I doing anything wrong?
It also depends upon what you are doing on Chrome. Video and flash will eat up battery life. You are probably doing nothing wrong.
You might open Activity Monitor and see what applications are taking a lot of CPU%. Make certain that you have selected 'All Processes".

I am very disappointed with the battery life I am getting out of my Iphone 5S 64G. I charge it every night, and would be lucky to make 15 to 20 minutes of calls during the day and yet I am lucky to get much more than 12 hours of life out of the battery.
I have to make a conscious decision not to use it to avoid it running out on me. I had it back to the Apple Store last week and they ran diagnostic checks on ot and said that the hardware was within specs.
They replaced the software as it was showing that Springboard had crashed on several occasions. The other problem I was complaining about was that at least 2 or 3 times a day, the phone would refuse to wake up when I hit the home button. It would take sometimes up to a minute of pressing the button before anything would light up. The guy at the Apple store said that this was caused by Springboard crashing and that this would also be what is reducing the battery life.
I did notice that after they replaced the software, the waking up problem appeared fixed for a few days, but the battery life had not improved. Now the waking up problem is starting to return.
It is very annoying and somewhat embarrassing when you are with a client and go to make a call and your shiny flashy new Iphone 5 won't even light up. Especially when you have to borrow your clients Nokia....My best bet would be to restore the phone. Back it up to itunes, and then reset it Factory settings. This way, any corrupt software will be removed, and you can start fresh. Make sure you back it up first. By the sounds of it, you are using the phone for business and probably need the data from it. I got my iPhone last Wednesday. The battery died on me yesterday but I did a full charge last night. I believe the battery was completely charged by 1am today and was on standby until 8am this morning (turned pc off so it was no longer charging via usb). I've used the iPhone for the past 3 hours (mostly web browsing and some iPod usage) and the battery looks like its close to 20% dead (though it hasn't told me yet so) This doesn't seem right. So I ask, does the battery life get better in the long run or am I having an issue with my iPhone battery?
It is difficult to gauge exactly what the life of the phone is with average use. The best thing I can recommend is to use this site to optimize your phone for battery life.

If you still think there is a issue with the phone after going through this a visit to a Apple Store would be best to address your concern, just incase there might be a issue with the battery. -
I have upgraded Snow Leopard with Combo 10.6.8, the supplemental update and fixed permissions, but still can't open app store to upgrade to Mountain Lion. I am on the Cayman Islands. Thanks for the help!
Don't be afraid to bump this topic. There's also an App Store forum where you might repost this question, but give some of these details in your post. I'd rephrase the topic to something like "Can't use App Store to upgrade." (Instead of can't "open".) Then give the details.

Does Mountain Lion 10.8.2 update and Retina EFI 1.0 Update, fix the UI lag on Retina MBP ?
I have returned my Retina MBP twice because of the issues i've been having, do those updates fix battery life ? UI lag ? or anything ? just curious because i love the rMBP and would love it even more if they fized the issues.
It certainly improved mine, swiping between apps and desktop is much faster and smoother, and Safari scrolling is much smoother.

Dashcode is not working in Mountain Lion. I tried updating to Xcode 4.4 and it still did not work . . .

You can share it with other Macs under your control (not your neighbor's). You just need to be logged in under the buying AppleID for updates or to download again.

How can i use an external screen on mountain lion when i'm running on battery power?
Hey all:
I just upgraded from snow leopard to Mountain Lion, and i use external screen, keyboard and mouse all the time....
On Mountain Lion it's perfect when the power adaptor is connected as soon as you close the LID your external screen becomes the primary screeen and it's fully functional desktop (no mirroring or extension screen)
But the problem is when i'm in battery power, in snow leopard i used to close my lid my mac goes to sleep then i wake it up using the mouse and immediately open the LID so it doesn't go to sleep again and now i'm running on battery power with a primary external screen.
Any idea how to use an external screen on mountain lion while i'm on battery power? (i know i can use mirroring but i want just 1 primary screen and the laptop screen would be turned off )

After updating my MacBook Pro 6,2 to Mountain Lion 10.8.3 update (earlier I had 10.8.2), only having Dropbox open it switches to nVidia graphics card instead of remaining on Intel one.
Even after Dropbox updated its app this didn't happen, so it looks like 10.8.3 update treats Dropbox as a "powerful" app.
The solution is pretty easy, close Dropbox and open when it's needed. But I've never had this problem.
I hope Apple or Dropbox can fix that to avoid more consumption for nothing.According to their latest update, Dropbox have indicated that they ARE aware of the issue and ARE working on resolving it. In the meantime, the post also describes how to downgrade to the last v1 release (1.6.18) and disable the auto-updating feature, if you need an immediate fix.
