Or just log into iTunes and your library would appear. Appearantly not because I lost over 3k songs can someone help me with this if possible.

    2. OS X Lion and Mountain Lion aren't compatible with PowerPC applications. After upgrading, if you have a PowerPC application (as Office 2004, AppleWorks, old Final Cut Pro editions, etc.), they will be moved to a special folder and they will stop working. Check that your apps are supported > http://www.roaringapps.com
If you are unable or unwilling to update to Intel versions of your PowerPC applications (if you have any), you can install Snow Leopard Server (with Rosetta) into Parallels or VMWare Fusion and continue to use most PowerPC applications concurrently with Lion or Mt. Lion:

  • Since the last software update for mountain lion I am having a problem when moving screenshots to trash. Now a Finder box appears saying finder wants to make changes and I have to enter my password for every action.

Since the last software update for mountain lion, I am having a problem when trying to remove any screenshots to the trash. A box appears saying "Finder wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this"
I have checked Finder Preferences and cannot find any box that I can 'UNTICK' to resolve this. I sometimes take a lot of screenshots when I am researching something and now find I have to enter my password for every screenshot to be removed to trash.
Anyone got a solution please, Thanks

  • Will upgrading from MAC 10.6.8 to Mountain Lion, 10.8, cause any conflicts or problems?

I have MAC OS 10.6.8 and would like to use some applications that require me to upgrad to 10.8.--.  Should I expect to experience any problems?

Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) model number 7,1 or higher
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) model number 5,1 or higher
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) model number 2,1 or higher
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
Xserve (Early 2009) model number 3,1 or higher
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
Model Numbers                  Computer Compatibility - Apple
If your computer isn't compatible, you might be able to upgrade to Lion.        Computer Compatibility - Lion
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported.        Application Compatibility
You can also check which applications are PowerPC by going to the  menu, select About this Mac, click on More info…, then click System Report and select Software/Applications.
If you have applications that you want to use that aren’t compatible, you can retain Snow Leopard and create a new partition to install Mountain Lion on or you can run Snow Leopard  server in a virtual mode.
    Do a backup before installing.
Boot using the disks that came with your computer, the Snow Leopard DVD (if installed) or the Recovery volume (command -R) if upgrading from Lion. Use Disk Utility to Verify/Repair  the disk and run Repair Permissions. Restart normally.
If you can/do upgrade, I recommend you make a copy of the installer and move it out of your Applications folder. The installer self-destructs. The copy will keep you from having to download the installer again.  You can make a bootable DVD/USB stick to install using this free program.

  • I updated to Mountain Lion. I noticed 2 problems I would like to resolve. I can no longer get iCloud or Security

Since updating to Mountain Lion I cannot LOAD iCloud or Security & Privacy. It just says ..."Loadind iCloud or Security & Privacy". Then I have to kill the process in Activity Monitor since it taks 99%+ of cpu. How can I get iCloud and Security & Privacy to load?

I tried the part about logon as ROOT and rename the Preferences file and logon as normal but that did not correct my problem.

  • IMac on Mountain Lion restarting "because of a problem" every 5 minutes for the last 4 days.

My iMac has been restarting "because of a problem" every 5 minutes for the last 4 days. This started only since I updated Mountain Lion OS last Thursday (i didnt update TO mountain lion, i already had it and updated to a version that came up in the mac app store).
Also, it usually restarts while in Sleep mode, and when iPhone 4s (iOS 6) is connected.
Any Help or advise would be appreciated.

Run the Apple Hardware Test suite, extended tests at least twice; then, follow up with Rember.

  • MacPro 2008 after Mountain Lion update has major sleep problems

I have a 2008 MacPro with 2 2.8 quad-core xeon processors, 6 gigs of ram, and an Nvidia GeForce 8800GT graphics card.  On Wednesday, I updated my Mac to Mountain Lion and subsequently found one minor improvement and one major problem.  The one improvement is that sleep now works again automatically, if my MacPro is idle for a while (prior to this, I had to push the power button to put it in sleep mode).  The major problem is that after a while in sleep mode, the fans activate and don't stop and the Mac becomes unresponsive, forcing a hard shut down.  Although I assume that this is unrelated, just in case, the only other additional change this this week is that I got a Time Capsule.  Any ideas or suggestions about what to do are much appreciated.

    Power nap and mac compatibles
By crispin. Original by Lionel - 28/07/2012 08:02:00 CEST - Category: Laptop
Here's a little feedback on Power nap, one of the new features brought by Leo. Let's start with what Apple says about:
When your Mac goes to sleep, it continues to work with Power Nap. It regularly updates Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, Notes, Photo feeds, Find My Mac and Documents in the Cloud. Connected to a power source, your Mac will download the software updates and performs backups with Time Machine. During all these updates, the system sounds are silent and no light, no fan will be triggered, so nothing will disturb you. And barely awake, your Mac is ready to go.
It must be added to this information: Power Nap requires a Mac laptop with flash storage. May rneed an updated firmware.
In fact, Apple has proposed specific updates for the MacBook Air in 2011 and 2012 and for the MacBook Pro Retina. However, as related by OWC, other Mac are compatible such as the MacBook Air 2010 13 "(not 11"). It is possible that this is the case with other Macs with SSD, but it will need to be checked case by case.

  • Mountain Lion calendar and notes sync problems with exchange server via WLAN

After upgrading to Mountain Lion calendar and notes do not sync anymore with my exchange server via WLAN. There are no syncing problems via ethernet if WLAN is deactivated. Mail works fine with both connection types. Similar problems known? Solutions?
    Thanks for any ideas.

Exact same issue ... cropped up in the past 2 weeks. Constantly syncing and re syncing. Watching calendar events show up and disappear. Tried all the normal stuff including deleting and re setting up the entire acct ... no luck. It built out the whole calendar correctly ( from what I could tell) and then started to sync again and appointments randomly appeared and disappeared .....

  • Does Apple know mountain lion has a trash empty problem?

Still waiting for Appe to send a patch/update to fix the trash emptying issue on Mountain Lion.  Since the last update it's been a nightmare.

Please explain what kind of a problem you are seeing with emptying Trash?
I see no problems with Trash using Mountain Lion whar so ever.

  • Mountain Lion upgrade and Internet connection problems ?

Since I upgraded my Macbook Air, it does not want to connect to my home Internet network anymore. My Ipad, Iphone and tablet PC are all working fine, but to connect to the network I need to restart and even reset my router to be able to connect. Needless to say, I lose connection when it gets into sleep mode and when it is shut down. Anyone having the same problem or a solution ?

I'm having similar problems with a 2012 13" MacBook Air. It's brand new, came installed with Mountain Lion.
I get disconnected from the wireless randomly and the wireless icons turns gray. Like you, I have an iPad, multiple computers and they all work fine.
Instead of restarting the router, I go into Safari and do a network diagnostics and it picks up the connection easily enough.
No solution as of yet, but I posted a topic here if you want to follow it:

  • I updated to Mountain Lion and now I have problems

After I updated to Mountain Lion my iphoto, imovie, numbers, pages, keynote will not open it has an error that says, You can’t open the application “Pages.app” because it is not supported on this type of Mac.What do I do now?

I've read that if you update to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 this behavior has been "fixed."
Most users blame the implementation of Save As… as not working as it has in the past. I believe the issue is that autosave will save all changes but you can revert the original document to a previous version. Click the small triangle next to the document name in the title bar & choose browse all versions.

  • Upgrading to Mountain Lion plus Aperture firmware update - problems

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion and uploading recent Aperture firmware my Adjustments section has gone haywire. I've lost the 'Advenced' section in Highlights and Shadows and the Highlights and the Shadows sliders have become very ineffective compared to before. The consequence is that I cannot balance very bright areas of the picture with darker areas. Before, this work brilliantly! I have tried re-lnstalling Aperture but to no effect. I would be very grateful for suggestions. Thanks.

The "Advanced" section in the "Highlights&Shadows" brick has been deprecated with Aperture 3.3.
It will only be active, as long as you have an image in your Aperture library, that has been adjusted with the old pre-Aperture 3.3 adjustment.
To get it back, import an Aperture library that still has it.
    See Kirby Krieger's post here:
How to not miss that olde-tyme Highlights & Shadows 7-slider Brick
I put an Aperture Library with a single image with highlight and shadow adjustments here for download:
    http://dreschler-fischer.de/scripts/Templates2.aplibrary.zip
Download and uncompress it if you like, then you can import it as a template to generate a preset.
