Mountain Lion alentó mi MACPRO 12 Core

Instalé Mountain Lion en mi mac pro 12 core y se alentó muchísimo a raíz de la instalación. ¿Qué pasa, qué debo hacer?

The Apple "company line" is that the Mac Pro 1,1 and 2,1 do not contain the 64-bit firmware needed to support booting the 64-bit only kernel used in 10.8 and beyond.
The hatter has given you links for advanced users who may wish to make unsupported modifications to their Mac Pros to install and run 10.8 and later  unsupported.
Unless you are a developer, or think like one, you may be better served by getting a more modern Mac Pro (not necessarily the latest and greatest, just a newer one). The 2009 model and later offer substantial architecture changes that make them quite a bit faster than previous models, even with the same number of processors.

  • Can I upgrade to Mountain Lion on my MacPro?

I've upgraded to Mac OS X 10.9.5 on my MacBook Air and assumed I could upgrade to Mountain Lion on my MacPro.
I don't know where to find its date of birth, which apparently affects compatibility. The Hardware Overview shows:
    Model Identifier: MacPro1.1
    Processor Name: dual-Core Intel Xeon
    Process Speed 3 GHz
    No. of Processors: 2
    No. of Cores: 4
    L2 Cash (per processor) 4MB
    Memory 9GB
    Bus Speed 1.33 GHz
    Boot ROM Version: MP11.005C.B08
    Advice welcome.

  • Mountain lion not compatible with MBP core 2 duo

    Hi there,
I have an MBP 17" which has been running on Leopard until the other day. I wanted to upgrade to Mountain Lion so that I can utilise some of its features. So I upgraded to Snow Leopard as indicated on the Apple Store web pages. I bought the disc and had it mailed to me and have installed and clicked and ticked and restarted and done all the things asked of me in the process to get the OS to the most up-to-date version. (10.6.8)
Now, when I go to Apple's App Store it gives me this message!
We could not complete your purchase.
We could not complete your purchase. OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer.
So my question is, where do I go from here? Why can they 'not complete my purchase' ? What is 'not compatible' ?

  • Mountain Lion - shortcomings evident on dual core Macs?

Apple will probably scratch this post, but I am really angry about my experience with Mountain Lion, and there are enough posters here to convince me that I am not alone.
I have a 2 year-old 15" MBP, core i7, 2.6 ghz, 8 g ram. I was running Snow Leopard and everything was sweet. I foolishly installed OSX 10.8 (now on .2) to get my computer into iCloud and it has been nothing but irritation and grief ever since. Beach balls, kernel panics (reducing in frequency now but in the first few weeks, 2 or 3 a day) hangings, slow startups, more beach balls, delays requiring restarts . . .
My question is: why did Apple tout this OS as appropriate for older Macs like mine, when clearly it is optimised for quad cores, and (just look at the number of complaints like mine) just causes problems for people like me?

  • Roll back from OS X Mavericks ( or any newer OS) to Mountain Lion on new MacPro

I need to know if it is possible to back rev or roll back on the new MacPro or iMac?
Working with video production applications (Avid) would like to get new hardware platform and that would require Montain Lion for the short term with the intention of moving back to Mavericks assuming that is also possible with the same licesense?
Final question does anybody know if there are issues with Thunderbolt through this roll back process?

If a Mac ships with a new OS shortly after its release, it is sometimes possible for it to boot with the previous OS; however, if the Mac has new hardware, it likely has a special build of the new OS to take advantage of the new hardware and it will not boot with the older OS.
Sorry I cannot provide specifics. You'll have to find someone who has done it (or tried).

  • Mountain lion mail crashes

I installed mountain lion on an iMac Intel core duo, previously running  lion, a couple of days ago and have problems opening both 'mail' and 'preview'. In fact they don't open. All I get is a programme alert. What can I do?

If it is hanging on the 'upgrading database' portion please see this discussion and the solution posted by registerednderd at the bottom of the first page.  It worked for me at least to get past the 'upgrading database' hangup and then to import the old messages.

  • Viewing pdf files in Mountain Lion

Every since loading Mountain Lion on my iMac (Intel Core i5), I have not been able to view pdf files thru Safari or Firefox. I needed to get an IRS form 1040X and there are multiple sites where you can download/view that form, but everytime it comes up as a black screen.  I have a Gateway notebook so I tried it there and the pdf displays great and you can download it and use it with no problems.
Is there some plug-in I am missing or something I need to install?
    Thanks for any help.

I wish I could say it helped, but it did not.  I do not have Acrobat 6 or Acrobat 7. I have Adobe Reader 10.1.3.
I did a "find" for acrobat and found a preference that i moved to the trash it case it was a holdover for when I had acrobat, then I did a restart and the problem is still there.

  • Logic Audio problem in Mountain Lion

Running Logic Pro 9.1.8 on Mountain Lion 10.8.3, the core system audio crashes completely almost every time.  There are a few times when it will remain functioning normally and smoothly for an extended period of time, however, that does not happen often and it seems to be almost random.  Once the audio has crashed, the icon in the status bar becomes grayed out, no sound comes from the built-in speakers, nor from headphones.  After the crash, the system will seemingly function perfectly fine, of course without sound, until I try to quit Logic, at which point it becomes completely unresponsive and I have to do a hard shut down.  I've tried everything from Terminal command lines, clearing .plists, clearing crashes, starting in Safe Boot, checking if its an issue with my administrator account settings, repairing disk permissions, /sbin/fsck -fy command line in single user mode, all to no effect.  It seems like this also happens when I use Photo Booth (the audio crashes).  Several times after starting the system up again after doing a hard shut down, I have found that after the Apple logo remains and the spinning wheel icon has gone, the single-user mode screen (black with white command line text) appears on the left side of the screen, as though it is coming through the regular start up screen, with every new line of text.
Every now and then I have seen a message pop up when opening Logic stating that there is an error with the core audio driver, with a code that I believe is something like "2549" (I'm not sure if this is it, it hasn't happened in some time).
Any help regarding this would be appreciated, as I believe I have looked everywhere on line for an answer, to no avail.

    Hi Pancenter,
    Thanks for your reply.
And I understand you have to ask those questions, and no I have not installed any new software from any such sites, I have the most basic form of Logic Pro 9, with no plugins, extras, or anything.
I am using the Mac audio interface, at least I believe I am.  It is the Core audio driver, nothing more.
I do not have the install DVD, unfortunately, and I have recently wiped my Mac clean and reinstalled OS X 10.8.3 from a bootable flash drive.
I HAVE installed two 4GB RAM in the two slots, which seemed to be working fine before the upgrade to Mountain Lion, and I believe they have the specifications necessary to be run on my computer, however, I can always double check, just to make sure.
I have reinstalled 10.8.3 several times, to no avail, unfortunately.  It does seem, however, that the issues have come about only after installing Logic (i.e. audio issues), though, I do have many other issues, such as unexpected application crashes, that were present before the installation (after wiping my hard disk and resinstalling OS X).  There was a point where, I completely forgot what I did to achieve this, however, before I completely wiped my hard disk and reinstalled Mountain Lion, I performed some actions, whether it was deleting .plists, caches, booting in safe mode, that fixed ALL of my issues, including those relating to app crashes, and it wasn't until I decided to restart my computer one night, that, when the system booted up again, all of the issues returned, immediately.  As I said, however, I cannot remember what it was that I did.  I have already tried deleting .plists and caches, etc., still, to no avail.
I apologize if I am replying late, I'm currently a student so with all of my course work, it can be slightly challenging to check in regularly.
    Thank you for the reply.

  • MacPro 2008 after Mountain Lion update has major sleep problems

I have a 2008 MacPro with 2 2.8 quad-core xeon processors, 6 gigs of ram, and an Nvidia GeForce 8800GT graphics card.  On Wednesday, I updated my Mac to Mountain Lion and subsequently found one minor improvement and one major problem.  The one improvement is that sleep now works again automatically, if my MacPro is idle for a while (prior to this, I had to push the power button to put it in sleep mode).  The major problem is that after a while in sleep mode, the fans activate and don't stop and the Mac becomes unresponsive, forcing a hard shut down.  Although I assume that this is unrelated, just in case, the only other additional change this this week is that I got a Time Capsule.  Any ideas or suggestions about what to do are much appreciated.

    Power nap and mac compatibles
By crispin. Original by Lionel - 28/07/2012 08:02:00 CEST - Category: Laptop
Here's a little feedback on Power nap, one of the new features brought by Leo. Let's start with what Apple says about:
When your Mac goes to sleep, it continues to work with Power Nap. It regularly updates Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, Notes, Photo feeds, Find My Mac and Documents in the Cloud. Connected to a power source, your Mac will download the software updates and performs backups with Time Machine. During all these updates, the system sounds are silent and no light, no fan will be triggered, so nothing will disturb you. And barely awake, your Mac is ready to go.
It must be added to this information: Power Nap requires a Mac laptop with flash storage. May rneed an updated firmware.
In fact, Apple has proposed specific updates for the MacBook Air in 2011 and 2012 and for the MacBook Pro Retina. However, as related by OWC, other Mac are compatible such as the MacBook Air 2010 13 "(not 11"). It is possible that this is the case with other Macs with SSD, but it will need to be checked case by case.

Your wifi problem sounds very much like the problem I had. The wifi would drop out, the icon showed it was still connected. If I turned it off, I couldn't turn it back on. Another user here pointed me to the problem, which was the wifi cable (the flat cable goint from the card to the motherboard). I found it on ebay for $13 and it's been running fine since I replaced it. This is the repair guide for your machine. The part number will be on there if you click the link.
