Mountain Lion and iCloud log in

Since installing Mountain Lion on my iMac, I can no longer log in to iCloud in system preferences.  Incorrect password.  I did change my password in the process and can log into iCloud through Safari and on my laptop (not got Mountain Lion there yet). This also means I can't set up Mail properly.  What am I doing wrong?

Thanks, this worked for me too. I'd recentlt changed my appleID (because iCloud told me it was incorrect!) and it still didn't work.  I could use everything else (iTunes store, iCloud via web browser) but had to log out then back in again on the computer itself for it to work.  Now works fine!

  • HT1338 OS X mountain Lion and ICloud, my bookmarks have automatically been changed to those of my iPad, is there any way to reverse this?

I recently updated to OS X mountain Lion and activated ICloud, my bookmarks have automatically been changed to those of my iPad, is there any way to reverse this?

First, you need to go to System Preferences -> iCloud and uncheck the Safari item to prevent syncing bookmarks (among other things) between Safari on your Mac and Safari on your iPad.
Then you need to restore your bookmarks file from a backup.  To find the bookmarks file, go to your user Library folder (which is now invisible, so hold down the option key and choose Library from the Finder's Go menu), then look in the Safari folder that's in there. There should be a file called Bookmarks.plist. Replace it with an older version from a backup.

  • Itunes on Mountain Lion and ICloud : ??

Hi, I have recently gotten a new computer (Imac) which uses the Mountain Lion OS. I purchased some songs on Itunes, but for some reason they downloaded into my LAPtop (also recent and also ML) instead of into the DESKtop that I had used to make the purchase.
I can see the songs in the Itunes on my desktop, but each song is grayed out / marked by a dotted circle / also marked by the "Cloud" sign. I presume this means that the songs were saved on Cloud but how do I download it into the Desktop ?? I have tried the "download recent purchases", have clicked on th the little cloud next to each song (no reaction), verifyed that the "share" settings are active, the passwords are all OK...  Don't know what else to look for.
Help is much appreciated ; the more Apple develops it's software the more confusing it is to use!!!
    Thanks very much,

Have exactly the same problem as Anthony Barnett. I upgraded some time ago from Leopard and now have the latest version of Lion on my iMac but of course this does not give you access to iCloud for your photos unless you upgrade iPhoto and the only way to do this is to try and buy iLife '11 from the App Store.  I click to buy iLife '11 (though it actually says upgrade to iLife '11) and get a pop up asking to choose an application. This pop up pre-selects iPhoto but when you click on "accept" a message comes up asking whether you want to "join this stream". If you click yes you then get this message "Request to the server macappstores://itunes.apple.com failed." Have tried endless times and each time get the same result. Does anyone have a solution? Contacting the App Store I´m afraid, would be a last resort for any of us who have tried to do so in the past so would be very grateful for guidance - I must be doing something wrong. Maybe Anthony found a solution?

  • Mountain Lion and iCloud registration after every login!?!

My Macbook Pro has 4 user accounts. All of them have administration rights. I upgraded to Mountain Lion some days ago with my user account. At one user account always the iCloud login appears. If I skip the registration, it appears again at the next login. I tried to register this account with a new id. The registration was successful, but at the next login the iCloud login appeared again. There is no problem with my user account and the two others. Just at the fourth user account I have the problem with the iCloud login/registration.
Do you have any idea, how I can avoid the iCloud registration?
Shall I indicate there my own apple-ID?
Or is that a bad idea, because then my id is stored at another user account?
    Thank you very much, Beno

Hmmm, so no Energy saver settings to Sleep/shutdown?
Only happens in Movie playing, or does it happen with no Mouse/KB activity in 15-20 minutes?
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

As the last post suggests, call Apple and order a replacement original disc for about $17.  They will ask you the model and serial numbers.
Your retail version of Snow Leopard OS 10.6.3 will not work on that Mac as it requires a minimum of OS X 10.6.7 to boot and operate.
Another alternative is to again borrow another Mac to install your retail Snow Leopard into an external HD or partition, upgrade it to 10.6.8 and then clone it back to a partition on your MBP.

  • Will mountain lion and iOS 6 force me to use ICloud?

Reading the previews of mountain lion and ios 6, I get the impression that I'm going to be forced to use ICloud.  Is this true?  I don't want to be in the Cloud. And I don't want apps like Twitter mining information from or sharing information with, my Contacts.  Should I upgrade?  What happens if I don't?  I have a macbook running lion and an IPhone 4 running Ios 5.  Thanks.

I can just access Twitter through Safari to avoid that?  (Before you tell me that Twitter isn't that private, I'm on there with a pseudoname).
    Yes.
The integration of Twitter with Contacts is mostly about storing your contact Twitter and Facebook accounts much as you would store their phone numbers of email addresses.

No, if you are using the Music app you are playing them on your iPhone.

Under what circumstances does mail "not leave the mails on the server"?
If you mean that you delete them (or move them out of the inbox) on one device and then find them not in the inbox on the server when you look from another device, that's how IMAP is supposed to work. (Note that the deletion or moving might be the result of rules you have set up in Mail.)
If you mean something else, please explain your issue in more detail.

Log out of iCloud in the System/iCloud preference pane and disable Photo Stream in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.  Then log back in and re-enable, respectively.  That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • I upgraded my imac to Mountain Lion and my iMac has been painfully slow ever since. Any ideas what might be wrong and how to fix it?

I upgraded my iMac to Mountain Lion and it has been painfully slow ever since.  Any ideas on what might be happening and how to fix it?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the slowdown.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

I have no idea whether there is a causal relationship but since moving to Lion and iCloud, my iMac has become so unresponsive that I wind up having to crash and restart most of the time.  This is true regardless of the app I am using at the time.
The specs of this iMac are:
iMac 27 inch, late 2009 model with a 3.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 Gig 1067 Mhz DDR3, using OSX Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
I have Mackeeper installed and according to the scans I have run, everything is fine. No virus, no junk files . . . no problems at all . . .
Except that for all practical purposes, my computer isn't working.
I am nearly totally deaf and live in an isolated, rural area of NW Missouri and this computer is what I mainly rely on to contact friends, relatives and business associtates!
Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive may be failing.
If you have more than ten or so files or folders on your Desktop, move them, temporarily at least, somewhere else in your home folder.
If iCloud is enabled, disable it.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, and monitor, if applicable. Launch the usual set of applications you use when you notice the problem.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.

You must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way as above. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Post the 50 or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.

    Hi folks,
I tried downloading the latest OS X Mountain Lion and [after a long time... I have a slow connection] I got an error message ... We could not complete your purchase The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
Everytime I retry or continue the download I just keep getting the same error message!!!
What can I do to get my product?
    PM

The only thing that worked for me was to boot in safe mode.
Power down.  Then press power button and hold 'shift' key until grey screen with progress bar appears... Once booted and logged in just open safari and browse to applestore.
No trouble at all once I did this.
Reminder: create full backup before you upgrade OS
    Hope it helps.

It looks like you haven't got them on iCloud. On your Mac, open Pages and drag the Word documents to the iCloud window
