Download Mountain Lion an error has occured
I have a MBP early 2008 with 4GB Memory and 30GB free disk space.
So I know I can upgrade.
I have purchased Mountain Lion in the appstore but it will not download.
The download starts and gets to 79.34MB and then gives an error:
"an error has occured"
I have tried deleteing the appstore cache, logging out and quiting the appstore and then starting the appstore and logging back in, but none of it has helped.
Everytime it fails at exactly 79.34MB.
It is driving me mad, I hope someone can help.- Temporarily disable anti virus software if installed.
- Apps such as Little Snitch, Net Nanny, and Hands Off can prevent apps from downloading including Mountain Lion.
- Third party download managers are not compatible with the App Store.
For downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Keep in mind, If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband (high speed) access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.
Mountain Lion is a 4.34GB file. If you are using a slow internet connection, the download may be timing out before it can finish. Your ISP determines your download speeds. Check with your ISP for upgrade options. -
Cannot download Mountain Lion- "an error has occurred"
When I attempt to download Mountain Lion it gets to about 79MB, stops, and I get the following, "an error has occurred." No explanation of any kind. This was over Wifi, but I also tried using ethernet. Same result. This same thing happened when I updated to Lion. The same thing happens when trying to download using my laptop. The only way I was able to get LIon is to take my laptop to the library and download from there and transfer it to my iMac. I really don't want to do the same thing for Mountain Lion. Here is my setup:
iMac8,1 model ID
Wifi router - Qwest 2Wire (over 5 years old)
Currently using latest version of Mac OS LionI talked with my service provider (Qwest/Centurylink) and through some persistance they admitted that my 2wire router/modem (about 5-6 years old) has a 2GB file download cap on it. My solution was to buy a new router and modem. After that I was able to download Mountain Lion just fine. Hope this helps.

Your iMac should be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion. -
HT1338 Mountain Lion "An error has occurred"
Running 10.7.4. Plenty of RAM available. No other downloads waiting. Mountain Lion purchased (receipt kept). MacBook plugged in. Stable wireless connection. About 4 seconds into installing ML, it stops. Just...stops. Visit to the App Store to check downloads. See the cute yet fierce Lion logo. Next to it, see "An error has occurred". The Click to Install box is blacked out. Back to the Lion purchase page where I am asked if I want to pay £13.99 to Install Mountain Lion. Again.
And there it sits in my downlaods pages, about as useless as a large piece of mucous on my screen.
Please? Anyone?
Again, I have no Applications waiting to Dowlnoad, sufficient RAM and all the other stuff I presumably would need. Except patience, which I'm running out of.Disable the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy
Disable anti virus software before downloading apps.
Apps such as Little Snitch can prevent files from downloading the App Store.
Your Mac must be one of the following models to install Mountain Lion.
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
Xserve (Early 2009)
From here > Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.
If nothing above applies to your situation, reinstall the App Store by downloading and installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.4 (Client Combo)
Then restart your Mac.
It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.7.4 -
"Unknown error has ocurred" message when trying to buy Mountain Lion on my MacAir laptop. Apple ID and password are operative with IPhone device but will not operate with ITunes purchase of Mountain Lion and ITunes advisor simply referred me to these discussion communities. What to do???

OS X Mountain Lion download error
receiving error message "The application could not be downloaded" Download starts and gets to about 120mb then stops and returns error message. Console log shows 'failed to authorize right 'system.install.apple-software'
Running Lion 10.7.5 on an unfiltered ethernet connection
any ideas? thanksMake certain your Mac qualifies to run Mountain Lion > Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.
Installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.4 (Client Combo) reinstalls the App Store for you which may help.
Restart your Mac after the combo is installed. It's ok to do this even though your Mac is already running v10.7.4.
Then try downloading Mountain Lion.
Keep in mind, for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.

can I download mountain lion from torrent and make it legal. I already have purchased it from the app store but my internet connection ***** and I get download errors. Anybody facing such a situation please let me know how u guys got rid of it.
You should always be doing regular backups. Disks can fail at any time; so can other components; directories can get corrupted beyond repair, users can make mistakes, etc.
You might want to review the Time Machine Tutorial, and perhaps browse Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.
If you don't like Time Machine, see Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #27 for some alternatives.
Did you purchase AppleCare with your Mac? If so, the drive will be replaced at no charge. -
Solution: Mountain Lion download errors.
After Three frustrating days. I received Two new content-code PDF files from Apple today. Unfortunately, No password was sent. So I was just about to give all hope up on ever getting a free Mountain Lion update, when I recalled the code that was sent to me Yesterday. Although it gave me a Purchase-method error. A miracle just happened. And THE CODE WORKED!! So I'm sorry if this is not much help. But give all the codes Apple has sent you so-far. A RE-TRY!! I wish you all Best of Luck! I hope this helps. Take-care.
Exactly. Some of us don't understand the situation in India. This is a country with sickest internet speeds. The internet segment is dominated by fraudulant companies. There is no consistency that is why most of the data transfer here is through Pen drives and torrent websites. We have never seen a good downlooad speed here. And on the top of inconsistency lies the Mac book Air without a built in RJ45 port.
If i have to do it in an internet cafe it will cost me more time and money than to purchase a Mac book air itself. Apple should start giving us software loaded flash drives at least at premium. -
Mountain Lion Downloading error 53 MB
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to download Mountain Lion but whenever the dowload reachs 53.25 MB it stops and re-download again from the begining.
any advice ?Cancel the download (hold option, I think), quit the app store, delete all traces of Install OS X or Install Mountain Lion in the /Applications folder. May be in a .app or .appdownload file. Whatever. Connect directly to a Ethernet connection. Try again.

HT1725 What can I do if a "downloading error has occured?"
Hi!
I rented a movie on my apple tv2 about two weeks ago. After waiting for 3 days for it to download, i finally sat down to watch it tonight. However, it says "An error occurred loading this content...try again later." I've tried it several times since and it won't work. What do I do? Also, is there an option to just watch it on my macbook pro? If so, where do i find it?
Thank youContact iTunes

In "purchases" while in my App Store, Mountain Lion says, "an error has occurred" and the green 'download' button is grey and I cannot re-start the download. I was abroad when I purchased this app and during download, my internet connection was lost. At the time, Apple was still offering the e-chat, so I did that and the man was very helpful and it was a quick fix, so my download button turned green again, and I was able to begin the download. BUT during the download, I was kicked offline once again, and I decided to wait until I was back in the USA. I will go in to an Apple store and ask assistance, but if there is something I am missing, I'd like to try that first. Thanks in advance for any advice.

App Store Support
This has worked for some people.
- Sign out of the App Store (in the Store menu)
- Quit the App Store
- In Finder - Go>Go to folder... (or Apple-shift-G)
- Paste in the following "~/Library/Caches/ "
- It will take you to a folder. Delete com.apple.appstore
- Launch the App Store. Sign in and then reclick the Mountain Lion buy. It won't charge you again. -
I purchased Mountain Lion and it was downloaded upto 4.2 GB but then my internet connection went down and it started showing as 'waiting'. when the connection came back it didn't resume the download and vanished. On the 'purchases' icon in Appstore it says 'an error has occurred' and even after pressing download again and again The download is not starting. On the finder Mountain Lion Icon shows as waiting.
What to do? I have tried unfinished downloads section in 'Store' but it says no unfinished downloads. Please help. You can have iTS clear the DL que.
