Mountain Lion Download Pauses Time after Time
I have set energy saver to never, and taken the additional step of playing iTunes music so the computer won't sleep during download, but it pauses time after time and has to be initiated from the beginning. I'm installing over 10.6.8.
such an obnoxious time to download?
It may depend on your internet connection speed. Anything less than 15Mbps and the download may time out before it's finished.

Disable anti virus software and try turning off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall.
Some ISP's limit the amount of data used for downloading so you may want to contact your internet service provider for details.

Maybe Apple should have a ' definitely read me first' notice before a download takes place with CLEAR instructions to have more than the 6GB they indicate ofr the Mountain Lion download -
I have downloaded the latest flash for my mac (running mountain lion 10.8.2) multiple times and have uninstalled it multiple times, but it still says blocked plug in. Im using firefox for now. any help? Firefox and safari are like night and day. i just want safari back.

Same for HD > Library > StartupItems
Check to see how much free space there is on the startup disk.
Click your Apple icon top left in your screen.
From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info then select click Storage from the menu.
Make sure there's at least 15% available disk space. Not enough free space can slow down the startup time. -
Mountain lion download doesn't resume from where it left after an error occur
I'm trying to download mountain lion but the download doesn't resume from where it stopped when I encounter a drop in my Internet connection/get disconnected. Also I face that after this sequence of events: Internet error occur > surprisingly download resume from where it left > pause the download > resume the download after a few hours. My questions are: how can I solve this issue ? Does the downloaded file/app get corrupted when the download encounters an error which is actually making it restart the whole download? It's really frustrating, I've been downloading for the last couple of days and the downloads restarts even after downloading over one gigabyte. P.s: my Mac meets with the hardware and software requirements for downloading mountain lion.

A slow internet connection for huge files like Mountain LIon (4.34 GB), can time out before the file is completely downloaded.
Try this... from the App Store menu bar top of your screen click Store > Check for Unfinished Downloads.
Something to keep in mind if you need to repair the startup disk or reinstall OS X.

I have reinstalled mountain Lion again . This time, Facetime works when somebody calls me, and I can do calls from my Mac again. But the problem was still that I was not able to call my iPad, what I was able to do with Lion (I had one Apple-ID and two call adresses). The solution was this time to generate a second Apple-ID from the Facetime in my Mac (this doesn't affect your main Apple-ID, it's only used for Facetime). Now, it works! ;-)

I finaly after hundres of times (at least it felt like it) ended up with instaling Hotspot shield and let it work. I did not touch it for two days, and when almost had given upp the project, it was finaly there -

Having the exact same issue. Also, on right click, many apps freeze/beachball and must force close. Additionally, uTorrent and Transmission are not operating correctly-uTorrent constantly beachballing and unresponsive. Right-click freezes with everything from Word to iMovie. Takes way too much time to do anything, and lots of cursor freezing, here is a sys log excerpt:

That killed the hard drive, so I got a new hard drive and had the Apple Store install Lion on it, then used Migration Assistant to bring files over. Since then I've upgraded to Mountain Lion and have been experiencing lots of beach balls, freezes, etc. They're so bad that I've had to forcibly shut down 3 times, and each time can't restart. HT4718 Can't find iLife after Mountain Lion download?
After my mountain lion download (done by a genius at the apple store so I know I didn't mess it up!), ilife isn't here. It's also not under the "purchase" section of the app store like support.apple.com says it should be. help?
New Macs come with iLife. However, if you did a clean install you're not going to have iLife.
However, the original install disk that came with your Mac should have an iLife installer included. -

I'm having the same problem but only at home with a slow internet service. At work with faster internet my macbook pro works fine. I wonder if Mountain Lion requires some minimum internet speed? Our old macbook pro (not using Mountain Lion) still works fine with our slow home internet. This change happened when I installed Mountain Lion. Also I can boot from by back up disk and bypass Mountain Lion and work with my slow internet at home. ???

When starting up a Mountain Lion iMac, it takes along time before network logins are available. There seems to be a huge delay getting the network up and running, and I'm not sure why. This isn't an issue for identical iMacs running Snow Leopard.
If I login with a local account, I see the ethernet registered as disconnected for at least a minute, then it pops up. If I switch to Snow Leopard, using the exact same hardware, network cable, jack, etc, it's instant.

No. I have a rMBP and a Mac Mini on a home LAN. The Mac Mini is connected via ethernet and the rMBP is WiFi. Both connect instantly to my network. Both are running OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2. -

thanx in advance guysLizardcarter's instructions are correct, you can (and possibly should) consider a second external HD to create a bootable clone. Redundancy in backups is a very good thing because backup can fail too. A bootable clone is an external HD that has a mirror of your internal HD so if the internal HD does crash you can boot from the clone, something that cannot be done from TM. This means you will be down for minutes and can resume work until you have had the internal HD replaced. Never use an external HD for both TM and a bootable clone, each should have it's own EHD. The reason being is if the EHD crashes you have lost ALL of your backup and are dead, don't laugh it happens! To create a bootable clone get either SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner (both about $30) and you're pretty set. Many people on these forums (including myself) use that strategy and yes I have had a backup fail.
