You do meet the hardware requirements. Otherwise you wouldn't have been able to purchase ML.
If you're connected wirelessly to your router, connect with Ethernet.
If you're connecting through a proxy, connect directly.
Boot in safe mode (shift key down at startup) and try again.

trying to upgrade to Mountain Lion, error   message; " product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed" ??
what to do? This is in App store. I followed the link e-mailed to me that an upgrade was available....... Puzzled.

Several causes for this problem have been reported. Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when it's resolved.
    Step 1
    Back up all data.
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If any proxy options are selected, make a note of them and then deselect them. You don’t need to change the bypass or FTP settings. Click OK and then Apply. Test. The result may be that you can't connect to any web server. Restore the previous settings if that happens.
    Step 2
Rebuild the Spotlight index. If you try to search now from the magnifying-glass icon in the top right corner of the display, there will be an indication that indexing is in progress.
    Step 3
Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Helps to tell us what the error said...
Try here >  Mac App Store: "An unknown error occurred (100)" when purchasing
Might need to temporarily disable anti virus software.
FYI, third party download managers may cause issues when downloading apps including Mountain Lion.
Apps such as Net Nanny, Hands Off, and LIttle Snitch can prevent apps from downloading.
Make sure you are using the same Apple ID associated with your Mac.
Make sure you have the correct App Store country selected. Check the round flag icon bottom right corner of the App Store.

  • Problem with unpacking files in Mountain Lion (Error 2)

When I try to pack or unpack files there only come up errors since I updated to ML.
"Error 2 - no file or folder existing". Seems to be a sandbox issue, I tried "The Unarchiever.app" and there it said the OS-sandbox doesn't allow this action. I'm getting kind of annoyed by all the ML-bugs, more problems in the last 7 days since updating than in the 2 years before using Snow Leopard and Lion...
Can anyone help me with this one?
    Thanks!

If you are using any system utilities that empty system cache, stop, as they may corrupt files in your operating system.  If you are using any system add ons, make doubly sure they are Mountain Lion compatible.

  • Weird Mountain Lion Error: Not Writing to Disk

I've been having a problem where my MBP running Mountain Lion.
Since updating to 10.8.2, my computer will randomly lose its the ability to read and write to disk. Files will not save, keychain access fails (asking me to reenter my passwords, which I won't do), and apps will not open (stuck bouncing on the dock).
Booting into safe mode and/or resetting PRAM appears to fix this, but it's happened three times already. Because I cannot save my documents, all data is lost. Disk Utility does not find any drive errors or permissions problems.

I still can't figure this out. It seems to happen after I have moved my computer from one location to another after putting my Mac to sleep. (Trouble waking from sleep? Different wifi signal?)
I thought rebooting helped, but one time, I restarted my computer in class (after experiencing this problem) and the applications still wouldn't save. I reset the PRAM, and it was fixed (for now). This has happened to three times already.
Reported my problem here. Hope Apple is listening.

Did this start with 10.8.2 for you as well?

  • IMovie '11 on Mountain Lion: Error loading plugins  [iLifeMediaBrowser]

    Hey all,
I would love some advice regarding an install of iMovie that will not load completely.  We are seeing a problem with an install of iMovie '11 (9.0.8  1778) on Mountain Lion (10.8.2).  It seems the app will launch but most of the menus are greyed out or don't do anything... seems like it crashed.  Here's what happens on the system when the app is launched:

Does anyone have any insights?  it seems that iMovie is trying to do something related to an app called iLifeMediaBrowser and looking for plugins that we don't have.  Can we disable iMovie from asking for those?
    Thanks so much!
    Kiva

Wow. I looked at some of your other posts and found a few hints that I tried. I deleted all the com.apple.iMovieApp.plist and .cache files/folders in various locations and tried again. Now iMovie sees my camera!
Hope you figure out your issue!

  • Mac Dictation (Mountain Lion) - Errors - are we able to make corrections?

Hi there I was wondering whether one of the clever folks can help me. Is there a way to edit the mistakes that mac dictate continues to make regarding speech input.
    The support article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5449 states:
"The more you use Dictation, the better it understands you. Dictation learns the characteristics of your voice and adapts to your accent."
I have found this not to be the case, in fact quite the opposite, no matter how I may say a word it keeps giving me the incorrect word. For example 'Faith' will always come back as 'face'. 'End' always as 'and', etc.
As far as I can tell there is no way to correct these errors on the server? So how can it better understand me if it cannot be corrected?
Can anyone shed some light on this. Thank you.

If that doesn't help, open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type this exactly as you see it here;
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
    Click Go
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
    Now here:
    ~/Library/Preferences/
    Click Go
Move these files from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
    com.apple.appstore.plist
    com.apple.storeagent.pllist
    Now here:
    ~/Library/Cookies
    Click Go
Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
Empty the Trash, try the App Store.

Nope. It's Apple's new way to control everything via the MAS. Details in Recovery and About Lion Recovery. Also, see the Internet Recovery.

  • Mountain lion error message (fail to restart Mac mini for installation)

    Hi,
I successfully downloaded mountain lion and attempted to install it several times on my Mac mini; however, it gives an error message when it wants to restart computer for installation purposes. The error message reads "An error occured while preparing the installation. Try running the application again." Well, I did as instructed several times to no avail. Is there anybody to help me out. I will be grateful.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select the most recent panic log under System Diagnostic Reports. Post the contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. I have a partition that I run linux out off.
I tried installing Lion and when I increased the size of the OSX partition, it had a message that basically says Mediakit something or another. Any help as to how I can finish installing lion? it is an imac about 2 years old.

Mountain Lion as you say you have is only in Sevelopers release, so you will need to post in the developer's forum.
    Cheers
