its more than 24 hours and i havent received the claim of mountain lion for my new macbook pro

Brace yourself - I've been waiting over 48 hours and Apple claims it will take up to 72 hours. After that, God only knows! Oh yeah, if you get your code there's a chance someone's already used it too!

  • I have recently downloaded OS X Mountain Lion on my new MacBook Air.

I have recently downloaded OS X Mountain Lion on my new MacBook Air.   I have Safari 6.0.  I no longer see the "Empty Cache" option on the Safari drop down menu.  Where did it go?  How can I recover it?
    Gloria

    Safari 6
Mountain Lion comes with Safari 6.
Apple removed "Empty Caches" from Safari menu.
    1. Now clearing history clears caches and favicons.
    2. Enable Develop menu.
         Safari > Preferences > Advanced
At the bottom check the box "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in menu bar.
Click Develop and from the dropdown select "Empty Caches".
    Best.

You are talking to end users, not "Apple"
Go back to :Lion maybe until Moutain Lion has had more time to get optimized and ironed out.

  • Can I redeem the $20 after purchasing Mountain Lion for my new Macbook Pro

Hey there, I purchased a Macbook Pro in late June 2012, reading the redeem page for Mountain Lion 2 weeks ago it stated to come back after making a purchase of Mountain Lion, so I purchased the update and now realised i could of downloaded it for free, is it possible to get a rebate from Apple, or did I just waste $20????

Apple most likely won't give 20 dollars of store credit....you can always call them but I doubt they will let you redeem...in the end they want your money..

  • Downgrading OS X Yosemite to Mountain Lion on brand new Macbook Pro Retina

    Hi all...
    Some background...
I'm awaiting delivery of a new CTO 13" Macbook Pro Retina and have a question or two.
Obviously the new machine will ship with Yosemite, but I intend to downgrade to Mountain Lion. My main use for the new Notebook is audio, and a lot of DAW software and plugins are not stable on Yosemite yet. I have a Mac Pro 6 core 3.33 tower system that I only jumped from Lion to Mountain Lion on a few months back, as I find I get rock solid performance by staying one or two OS X releases behind with all the stuff I need to run. My Mountain Lion upgrade was done through the App Store.
My questions...  on the Macbook Pro (this is my first laptop ever), can I simply log into my Store account and download and run the installer for Mountain Lion from my purchase history? The machine will be brand new.. with no personal info or documents etc, so is there really any point doing a backup beforehand? Will a Yosemite machine let me run an installer for an older OS X?
If someone has experience doing the same, I'd greatly appreciate advice on what the best way to complete the downgrade would be.
    Cheers!

Question should be - why can't I purchase a mac direct from Apple with an operating system less than current?
Particularly if a business can afford additional devices but not the updates required to get software in line.
This is also an issue with windows computers - Small company owner needed a few more PC's for his businesses that had just completed an PC based system install that ran on XP -- they came with Vista or windows 7 (don't remember which) his businesses were large enough that he did return them and get XP PC's.     (Software was not compatible with other than XP)      Few years later - went with what used to be called "smart terminal" no PC's on the desktop - all info on a server.

  • Mountain Lion FREE update for MacBook Pro Retina 2012

Hello, looking for an honest support.. I bought my Macbook Pro Retina 2012 on this 15 July 2012 from Apple's authorised premium reseller of Bangladesh (Executive Machines Ltd.).. I just knew & saw yesterday that Mountain Lion was published & it is FREE for the buyers who bought the new qualifying machine (as my one is!).. so I just followed the apple.com eligible link and provided my details (address of my current residence which happens to be "Bangladesh", country, city & my valid macbook pro "serial number"..).. after that received a claim reference number mentioning that the FREE redeem code will be emailed to me after checking my claim has been validated.. but after carefully going through that eligibility link I noticed that claims are not eligible for outside US/ Canada.. and now I've provided my serial number & it has been used! and moreover, I did not recieve any email notification from Apple even after 24+ hours!.. what should I do now? .. do I need to buy this Mountain Lion once again even after I am eligible for the FREE update as Apple mentioned before or I just lost my free redeem opportunity as I bought it from outside US (event though from Apple's authorised reseller!!)?? please need honest suggestion..

can i make a dmg file right after download? its really really long when using recovery and my ml from the regular macbook pro is not compatible with the retina and im not sure why it works well with other macs except for this one.  thanks so much. having a headache now on how to make it work.
As you can only get OS X from Internet Recovery, you can't get the OS X Mountain Lion stored on the HDD and make a bootable volume with it. Also, you can't install the OS X version you have on your other Mac because the hardware of this MacBook Pro with Retina display isn't compatible with that OS X version.
In your case, reinstall OS X and see what happens. If you can't reinstall OS X, take the computer to an Apple Store because you can't do anything with that MacBook Pro now

  • Mountain lion on a new macbook air

i bought a new macbook air a week ago and it came with OS X 10.8.2, i saw on apple store that i can buy mountain lion and install it, shouldn't it be free for a new mac?

Great! Here are some introductory tutorials:

Some indicate "OS X Lion" so even Apple can get confused
    (Mountain Lion is very similar)

  • I tried downloading mountain lion to my new macbook and now it isn't there.  What did I do wrong?

I recently bought a new macbook and went to download the upgrade to mountain lion.  It showed it was downloading and then showed installing 2 items.  Today I checked in "about my macbook" and apparently i still have just lion, not mountain lion.  What happened?

Mountain Lion is not an automatic install as part of the App Store download. It puts the "Install OS X Mountain Lion" installer in /Applications, then automatically launches a dialog expecting you to click "Continue."  Once you click continue, it will go through the upgrade process, installing ML, and then delete the previously mentioned installer from /Applications.
If the ML download was successful, the installer should still be found in /Applications.

  • Migrating from Snow Leopard on an old Macbook to Mountain Lion on a new Macbook

I've finally taken the plunge and bought a new mbp running Mountain Lion. My older 2009 model is running Snow Leopard and I have some important software on it that I want to transfer across to my new machine. However, upon setting up the new machine, I missed to opportunity to use Setup Assistant during the initial booting up sequence as I wasn't sure what to do, so opted for what I assumed to be the safest setup.
Is there anyway that I can still transfer the files across with all the settings, and perhaps even choosing to omit a few.

It was all quite painless, as you said, and i'm now glad i'm doing fresh installs for everything.
Ableton was as simple as logging into my account (first time in over 2 years) and there just so happened to be a newer version of the software waiting for me (Version 8.4, when I was running before Version 8.2). I'd downloaded it, installed it and authorised it within about 10 minutes. Guess it pays to log in once in a while. 4 other major apps have also been problem free.
I've maxed out the ram to 16Gb now and replaced the factory HDD with an 512Gb SSD after cloning the original drive in the new machine using SuperDuper and a USB to SATA lead that came with the drive I bought and i'm seeing boot times of 12 seconds, which is staggering really when it was close to a minute with the old drive in the fresh machine.
Serato Scratch Live processes 8 files at once now, compared to 2 in my 2009 mbp13 (with 256Gb SSD and 8Gb ram). 14.5k 320kbs tunes processed in 4hrs 3mins is very impressive. It reminded me of the missile strikes sequence NORAD ran in Wargames, watching the processes moving across screen.
I'm one happy customer now anyway. Thanks to you both for your help.
