Mountain lion has really slowed my whole system down

Since I upgraded to Mountain lion my entire system has become super slow.. it's making me feel like I made a big mistake updating.. I've got a 500G hard drive a 2GHz Intel core duo and 2GB 1067 Mhz ddr3 memory.. any ideaS?

Increase the amount of Ram in your machine, 4G minimum, more is better.
