Mountain lion is not compatible

Any Idea as to why?

I spent a lot of money on the Mac pro because I wanted to run video editing amongst other things and bought Final Cut Pro at the same time. Could have bought a Windows machine for the price of the software alone, but bought the Mac instead. It has many other assetts in my opinion as well and I find that there's plenty for me to do with the machine as it is without upgrading anything.
The significance of ML is that future wise it might be a negative indicator but in reality there's bags of life in my Mac so it'll more than do for me. Can if needs be run Tiger too and should be able to run the older software as well.
I do have an iPhone which up to now has run splendidly with the Mac and if it continues to do so then all will be well.
Buying new OS's is easy with Apple and a pain with Windows and now there's Windows 8 the price of which compares poorly. I still run XP as well because there are advantages believe it or not, to XP.
Whatever you have these days though, sooner or later it's going to become obsolete.  C'est la vie !!!

  • "OSX Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer."

I bought a MacBook Pro (13" retina display) today. Tried to update software. Error mesage said to ujpdate OS. When I tried to, error message said, "OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer." Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

All owners of the model seem to have the same problem. Presently there is no 10.8.2 updater for your model. The previous updater has been pulled. Wait a while and one will show up when Apple gets it fixed.

There is nothing to overcome, your mac is too old to run Mountain Lion.  For an iMac it must be a (Mid 2007 or newer)  http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/

    Thanks.

If the OP has this much RAM in their iMac, certain this Mac can run Mountain Lion.
The reason it might not be installing is that 15 GBs of RAM.
Your iMac should have (4) equal sized, 4 GB sticks of RAM for a total of 16 GBs.l
If your iMac is only reporting that there is only 15 GBs of RAM, you have a RAM stick that is either not seated in its slot properly or is defective/going bad.
This maybe the reason that it won't download it.
Also could be you are running out of free space on your HD.
You need, at least 15-20 % or greater free space left on your HD.

The build of Mountain Lion (10.8.4) on your 2013 MBA is newer than what is currently available from the App Store. That accounts for the App Store blocking you. This will likely be resolved with the introduction of 10.8.5.
True, but even so, there is no need to re-purchase and download from the App Store (not to say you're implying this, but rather just for informational purposes). When OS X 10.8.5 is released, the Software Update service will be the way to install the update, and not the retail Mac App Store.
Hopefully, if mawy did re-purchase Mountain Lion, when Mavericks comes out then Apple will offer it to mawy for free (it's slated to be out soon).

  • Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer

When will I be able to upgrade my Mac Pro to Mountain Lion:
    2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon,  Memory 13gb 667 MHz DR2 FB-DIMM, 64GB free disk (system), 1TB free other disks, computer age mid 2007, Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5.
As of 11/28/12:  Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer.

I installed Windows 8 Pro on a PC, quickly shutdown and walked it over to my Mac Pro 1,1.
5365s are 8-core and Geekbench in the 8000 pts range.
An apple 2010 refurbished is $1800 also, old 4-core 2.8 but can upgrade easily to W3680 6-core 3.33
I agree running native beats running VM
The issue with getting Windows 64-bit onto 32-bit firmware is just the install phase but a real pain. 64-bit Windows requires, if the system is EFI based. I do have one PC that does use UEFI and Windows 8, another that does not. Both are 2008-9 motherboards (Intel which supports UEFI, and Gigabyte which did not with X58). Apple of course last updated our EFI 1,1 and 2,1 back in 2007. Before UEFI was done standardized etc.

  • HT1899 Does Windows XP work with Mountain Lion or not compatible?

Does Windows XP work with Bootcamp in Mountain Lion or is it not compatible?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Boot Camp 5, the version that comes with OS X Mountain Lion, is only compatible with Windows 7 and soon with Windows 8.
However, if you upgrade from an older OS X version and you have Windows XP or Windows Vista installed with Boot Camp, you can continue using it without any problem, but you won't be able to update the drivers

  • We could not complete your purchase. OS X Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer.

Does my macbook meet the requirements for the upgrade? I'm on snow leopard 10.6.8

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You have an Early 2008 MacBook, and Mountain Lion requires an Early 2009 or Late 2008 Aluminum MacBook, so stay with Snow Leopard or call Apple to purchase Lion > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 Check if your programs are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com

  • "We could not complete your purchase. Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer"

Which is odd, because 1) I'm already running it, after upgrading from 10.8.1 and simply want to redownload the installer again, and 2) this computer is a MB Pro Retina (late 2012). I would think it's late enough.

Greetings - joining this thread a bit late but running into the same issue. Here is my system data -- this is baffling as it appears that my Macbook Pro *does* meet the minimum system requirements for upgrade to Mountain Lion. I'm running 10.6.8 now. Any advice?
