Mountain Lion Mail not showing content

Hi,
Just recently my mail has stopped showing any content in any messages on both of my mail accounts.
It started when I was opening a payslip, which is a password protected PDF attachment.
Does anyone know of a possible solution?
Thanks

Hi there... I am also having the same issue.
And after the other emails don't open properly. Sometimes the content disappears.
I tried to REBUILD the mail account and nothing changed.
What is going on? Hasn't APPLE shed any light on this yet?
Thanks,
Charles

  • How do you get Mountain Lion Mail to show sent email size?

I upgraded to mountain lion I think a couple months ago so I don't remember exactly when I lost this feature, but in Snow Leopard for sure there was an option that when composing a new email, a little bar across the bottom of the email showed the size of your email so when you were adding attachments you could see the size your email was getting to be. I obviously haven't used that in a while because I ahvent' sent attachments in a long while, but I have recently started to do that again and tonight when I was adding files, there was no bar across the bottom of the email at all so I have no idea what size my email was. Even when I hit send and the progress bar in the bottom left of Mail ("Mail Activity") that use to show the file size right underneath the bar also now no longer shows the size so I have absolutely no idea how big the email I sent was.
Can anyone tell me how to get the option back to show the email size of the mail your composing in that little bar on the bottom of your email as well as the file size to display as you are sending in "Mail Actiivity" window? Thanks so much if anyone can help. Thank you!

  • Need to reset forgotten initial login username on Mac running MOuntain Lion, vol not showing at recoverpassword, Need to reset forgotten initial login username on Mac running MOuntain Lion, vol not showing at recoverpassword

Hi - I've stupidly forgotten a log in password on my new iMac running mountain lion, tried the recoverpassword prompt by Command R and then terminal - all OK, but my computer is showing no volumes - and therefore no existing users so I'm unable to reset the password. Can anyone help? I'm tearing my hair out.

You are not selecting your boot volume. That would be the one indented at the top of the list. The one labeled "Macintosh HD." The internal hard drive would be the entry above Macintosh HD. I can't read it in the picture.
Are you able to boot the computer normally? If not, then boot from the Recovery HD. Try the resetpassword routing:
    Forgot Your Account Password
    For Snow Leopard and earlier
Mac OS X 10.6- If you forget your administrator password
    For Lion/Mountain Lion
        Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen   appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu.Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow instructions in the dialog window that will appear.
Or see Reset a Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Password and
OS X Lion- Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.

  • TS2755 imessages on mountain lion does not show same conversations as iPhone using same iCloud account

Just got macbook pro with Mountain Lion installed.  Have had an iphone for years and like using Messages as text client on the phone.  I have both iphone and macbook connecting to same Apple ID account, but all of the conversations I have on my iphone are not showing up on my macbook - isn't this supposed to work?

You should check the iMessage settings on both your devices. Make sure you have identical receive addresses on both. That way you get iMessages sent to your phone number and email (if you use that) delivered to both. For example, if you have a "receive email" on yourMac and iPhone and you don't have your "receive phone number" set on your Mac, then iMessages sent to your email from another person will appear on both devices and iMessages sent to your phone number will only appear on your iPhone.

  • Mountain lion is not showing up as installed at the app store

I was going to activate Find My Mac and discovered that my Recovery Partition was missing.  After seaching this forum it seemed the solution might be a clean install of 10.8.3.  When I went to the APP Store to reinstall I found that the it no longer showed that Mountain Lion was installed.  What now?

Not true, go to the purchases tab and you will see that Mountain Lion is there if you purchased Mountain Lion through the app store. Go to the Apple in th etop left of the menu and choose about this Mac, what does it say the OS version is?

  • The battery indicator in mountain lion does not show the time left!

I have updated to Mountain Lion today and i noticed that the battery indicator on the top bar only show percentage of the battery, and it don't have the option to show the time left for recharge or to the total discharge of the battery.
The only way to show the time left is to clic on the meter itself.
    Any ideas?

I'm going to submit a complaint via http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html.  I hope others do the same.

  • Yosemite Mail not showing contents of inbox (Exchange 365)

Since upgrading to Yosemite my Mac mail inbox has been playing up. All the emails are there and show for a minute or two then the view changes and the inbox appears empty, selecting a different inbox (iCloud account, hotmail, Gmail) and going back to the Exchange inbox will make the message visible again. I have tried rebuilding, deleting the account and adding it again but all to no avail. New messages are coming in and all the mail is there it is just that they do not show (or more precise only show for a short period).
This is the case both on my mid 2012 MBP and my mid 2013 MBA both running Yosemite version 10.10.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Lion Mail not showing message content in thread

I seem to be getting random problems with mail threads in Mail on LION 10.7
When viewing the thread, organized by conversation, on the far right I get the related messages OK - great.
In some cases I can see all the content of the messages and in others I can only see the headers and none of the message content - seems to be random on different message threads - some work and some dont.
Is this a problem others have experienced?
    Thanks, Chris.

Do you use IMAP or POP to access your e-mail provider? Or eventually IMAP for one e-mail account and POP for a different one like e.g. hotmail?
POP always download the whole message to your computer. IMAP (depending on your settings and mail provider's settings) eventually only the header or a portion of the e-mail.
If you use IMAP, eventually check the account settings in Mail according to the picture below (the "Keep Copies" one) to have the complete e-mail on your system.

  • Mountain Lion Mail not syncing with iCloud

I have a gmail, yahoo mail, microsoft exchange, and apple email account.  I can get all of them to sync on my iPhone, iPad, and iMac.  However, for some reason only the Apple email shows up on iCloud.  I deleted my account and signed out of iCloud on the iMac to hopefully restart but the iCloud mail on Safari is not syncing at all.  If someone has a solution to this problem that would be awesome.  Thank you.

    Mine too is not syncing.
In fact it has become un-usable !!!!!
    - When I delete emails from my exchange account, they are initially deleted but then are restored ?
    - emails which contain invites to appointments, are not imported to Calendar
    - drafts, which I save are not saved.
It is a complete pain, and is resulting in my having to look for another email client.
PLEASE APPLE SORT THIS OUT !!!!

  • Hi, I have a mac book pro running mavericks and recently tried to connect to a 3rd ten apple tv but the airplay icon is not showing up in the top bar. I then tried my girlfriends laptop running mountain lion and it showed up straight away. Any suggestions

Hi, I have a mac book pro running mavericks and recently tried to connect to a 3rd gen apple tv but the airplay icon is not showing up in the top bar. I then tried my girlfriends laptop running mountain lion and it showed up straight away. Any suggestions?

How old is the MacBook Pro?  AirPlay is only supported on 2011 and newer models, due to the requirements it has in hardware for graphics acceleration.

Try going to the web based site and see if you can set up a temporary folder there. Move anything you don't want to download to that folder.

  • Mail created w/ mountain Lion will not open in SL10.6.8, or OS X yosemite.

Mail created w/ mountain Lion will not open in SL10.6.8, or OS X yosemite.  How can I convert it to open?

After a second call to AppleCare, they had advised me differently than before.  Once they found out that my personal computer has Mac OS X Lion installed from the App Store, they suggested I simply upgrade my parents computer to Lion.
So, I used my download from the App Store and upgraded.  It went smoothly, but Mail still will not open properly.  And instead of the original error message, it comes up with this:
"Check with your developer to make sure Mail can work with your version of Mac OS X.  You may need to reinstall the application.  Check if there are any updates available for the application."
How can I re-install just Mail?  A startup disk is not accessible for me right now.  Can I download the latest version of Mail and install it from the Apple.com website?
