Mountain Lion makes mouse erratic in Starcraft 2

Before ML it was fine playing Starcraft 2
After the upgrade, my gaming mouse (Logitech) occasionally (but still quite frequently) move erratically, like being suddenly accelerated.
I tried turning off mouse acceleration by entering some command line I found online, but it didn't help (I don't know if it didn't turn mouse acc off or it just didn't help).
By the way, the weird mouse movement only occurs during SC2, when I quit playing, it's all good. As I said, I was playing fine before ML, so it led me to believe it was ML interfering with SC2. I adjusted every possible setting in SC2, nothing does seem to hlep.
Is there anything else I can do?
For my fellow SC2 gamers, you can feel my deep pain and sorrow when I lost numerous games by my mouse going all over the place in the battles.... please help.

I have the same problem. Before ML SC2 was running fine. Both with the graphics performance and the other stuff. But now, it's impossible to play a game. In the mid game my framrate is really bad and the mouse goes all over the place. This suxx so hard. I am not sure what the problem is. Anybody who knows? My SC2 settings are all at Low at the moment.
My setup is:
MacBook Pro 17" 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
16 Gb Ram
Vertex3 240Gb SSD
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB

why does Mountain Lion make my computer run slow and my Safari too? Please help!

The problem is probably not mountain lion. It works just fine on my computer. And a few million others.
If your computer is having problems, you can try to fix it with some simple troubleshooting maneuvers.

After installing Mountain Lion my mouse won't scroll up or down.  It will, on occasion, scroll left.

Which mouse do you have? If it has a mechanical scroll ball on the top then it's simply dirty and needs cleaning. However if you are using Magic Mouse then please click iMac SMC and PRAM reset and do both resets 2x.

  • Mountain Lion - Bluetooth Mouse & Keyborad Disconects Frequently

    MacMini Mid 2011.
My Bluetooth trackpad and keyboard disconects frequently, all after Mountain Lion installation

I'm having identical issues. I've got a new MacBook Air. First use was today and I'm already having issues.
The symptoms I've seen so far are:
    - Magic Mouse won't recognise many first touches/clicks and I have to repeat to get the required action
    - Bluetooth Keyboard will 'disconnect', appear connected and yet it doesn't work
    - In Keynote, bluetooth keyboard and laptop keyboard will stop typing text, although I can still use Cmd+Tab to switch apps and they both type fine in the other app. This has happened repeatedly over the last hour, frustrating when you're trying to get a document done!
A quick scout of other discussions suggests that disconnecting Documents and Data from iCloud may solve this, I'm a DropBox user so I've done that and will now see if it resolves the issue.
    Any other suggestions are welcome!

  • Why does mountain lion make my macbook pro stall?

Hi Is anyone else having a problem with Mountain Lion? My Macbook Pro was very stable woth OSX 10.6. I updated recently and now the round egg timer equivalent appears regualrly, requiring me to reboot.
I thought that I had left all this behind when I moved from PC?
Any ideas for a cure anyone?
    many thanks

Launch the Activity Monitor utility, set the list at the top to "All Processes", then click on the "% CPU" heading until the top CPU users are at the top of the list.  Continue to work until things slow down, then see what's consuming CPU time.

  • Disabling Horizontal Scroll in Mountain Lion (Magic Mouse)?

So I've tried pretty much everything and can't seem to this.
The following things used to work under Lion and before, it seems but having tried all of them, I'm at a loss for what to do. I like the magic mouse, but
when doing any development like coding or doing something in illustrator or Photoshop. The horizontal scroll makes my content jump all over the place.
Very frustrated hope someone can help. Here are all the things I've tried.
    Open a terminal shell:
defaults write com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse MouseHorizontalScroll -bool NO
    This no longer does anything.
I tried installing MagicPrefs to try and 'overwrite' the scroll functionality for horizontal movement... it doesn't work
I tried installing BetterTouchTool (BTT) to also overwrite the scroll functionality for horizontal movement... again it doesn't work.
    What does work:
It seems I can go into System Preferences > Accessibility > Mouse & Trackpad > Mouse Options >  uncheck scrolling.
But this gets rid of all scrolling even vertical.
Now if MagicPrefs or BTT had a vertical scroll action you could bind to up/down swipes this would be fine, but they don't.
So, at a loss for what to do.

If you have windows 7 this might work for you. Found from another forum post here.

Re: how to disable horizontal scrolling with magic mouse in win7?
    Mar 19, 2013 8:30 AM (in response to lexa_xxx)
I use MagicMouse on iMac with Windows 7 running (installed through BootCamp). Got sick of annoying horizontal scrolling. The solution described above has helped me to disable it. Here is what I've done in steps:
    1) go to http://www.autohotkey.com/ and download an app (a script editor).
    2) Install and run the program - please note that it will not open as it runs in the background
    3) Rightclick on the desktop -> choose "New" -> "AutoHotkey Script" (a new script file will be created on the desktop) -> name it as you wish (e.g. "Mouse_HScroll")
    4) Rightclick on the file you've just created and choose "Edit Script" from the menu.
    5) Add these three lines below existing text in the file:
    WheelLeft::return
    WheelRight::return
    #MaxHotkeysPerInterval 5000
    6) Save file
    7) Run "Convert .ahk to .exe" program from the package installed earlier and browse the file you've just created, hit ">Convert<" -> .exe file should be created. Run this file -> the scrolling should be disabled now.
    7) You may wish to move this file to Start/"Autorun" folder, so it would be launched automatically each time you reboot your Mac/PC.
    Hope this helps! Good Luck

  • Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, my mouse pointer often disappears upon waking the computer from sleep.

Anybody else having this problem. Know how to fix it? My mini is the low-end mid 2011 model, using the mouse with the trackpad built in (magic mouse?).

    Hello,
I wonder if it's a variation of this, of which I've seen many different symptoms...
    Resolution
Move the mouse or trackpad cursor over the center area of the login window so you can see the user icons. Click on the icon of the user that you would like to login as, type in the user's password, and press Return.
If the login window is configured to show only the name and password fields, type in the user's name and password into the fields, and press Return (even if you cannot see the rest of the login window).
    Additional Information
This issue will not occur if the display is not sleeping when the account is logged out. Use the steps below to confirm that the account is not configured to log out automatically while the display is sleeping:
Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General.  Click the padlock to unlock the preference pane and enter your admin password. Click the Advanced button at the bottom, then see if the option "Log out after N minutes of inactivity" (where N is the number of minutes) is enabled.
Open System Preferences > Energy Saver and configure Display Sleep to occur after the account is logged out, by dragging the slider to a number of minutes that is greater than N was set to in the previous step.
Important: If automatic log out is not needed, disable "Log out after Nminutes of inactivity" in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. This will also prevent the issue.

  • Mountain Lion and speed

My iMac is getting slower.  Why?  I am running osX 10.7.4, have 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.  Will Mountain Lion make it even slower?

Go to Crucial or OWC they are both great vendors and have gaurenteed RAM for your system. It's the easiest thing to do for your iMac. While you have your old RAM out and the grill off
As old as your iMac is, have you cleaned out the dust? Dust buildup can lead to over heating issues. Remove any and all things plugged into it including the power cord, Remove the RAM access grille. Vacuum all openings starting with the RAM access area (air intake). Vacuum all ports and plugs, DVD slot and the opening across the top of the rear of the body. Blow compressed air through all your openings and vacuum again to remove any dust you loosend. Reinstall the RAM grille. Plug in the keyboard and mouse if not blue tooth. Insert power cord...
You are now in a perfect position to do a
    SMC RESET

    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
It is the 5 second timing that initiates the reset.

  • Will iPhoto '09 version 8.0.2 (402) work within Mountain Lion??

I have downloaded Mountain Lion but hasn't installed.  Currently running on Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  Before I install mountain lion I wanna make sure the iPhoto version I have will still work, as I can't live without it?  Not sure I want to pay another £10 for it from the App store, to be honest...
    Thanks!

iPhoto '09 works in Mountain Lion without any problem. However, you are running an outdated iPhoto version, so open  > Software Update, and install the most recent iPhoto '09 version before upgrading to Mountain Lion.

  • Mountain Lion install, now having hard drive issues.

Download of OS X Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store went well, but then went t install it and suddenly I have a big problem with my hard drive. Disk repair can't even solve it. All worked perfectly before this. Ugh. My MacBook Pro is now telling me I need to format my drive and Restore from a backup. What gives?

Well, after working with it as much as I could, to no avail, I took it to the Genius Bar. They had to reinstall OSX Mountain Lion, then I had to restore from my Time Machine backup. It's been hours getting everything to work again, and I needed to reinstall a lot of my software. This is an issue that Apple needs to address. Before you move to Mountain Lion, make sure you Verify and Repair your HD.

  • MacBookPro3,1 runs well with 10.6.8 but can't install Mavericks or Mountain Lion

I have an old "Santa Rosa" MBP from August 2007.  It runs 10.6.8 perfectively well but I thought I'd install Mavericks to see what the future is like.  Unfortunately it failed midway through the install with a "hardware issue" message and a request for reboot.  Fortunately it hadn't changed the OS on the hard disk so all I had to do was go into Startup Manager and boot the old installation.
I then tried to install Mountain Lion onto a USB drive and it gave the same hardware/reboot message.  Curiously I can safe-boot into Mountain Lion.
I ran the Apple hardware tests and everything passes.  The top of the kernel panic file in /USB/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/ reads:

One complication with the machine is that it had the NVIDIA cracked soldering problem.  A year ago I sent the motherboard to a shop in California that put on a new graphics chip and it's run well since then although it reports 128MB of video RAM instead of the standard 256MB.
This model is supposed to run everything up through Mavericks.  Is there anything obvious I've missed?

  • OSX Mountain Lion install / download issue. Help Please!

I have attempted to download OSX ML 3 times now, each time the download completes, install runs then after restart there is no change. ML hasn't been installed. Anyone had the same issue? Any fix?

The next time you download Mountain Lion, make a copy and move it out of your Applications folder. That will save downloading it again.
What version of the OS are you currently running? If it is 10.7 try the below:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/21111661#21111661
If you look in your Applications Folder is the installer still there?
If you hold down the option/alt ket during a restart, do you see a recovery volume?
Are you getting any error messages?
Try booting into the Safe Mode to install it.
Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • How to download but not install OSX Mountain Lion on Mavericks

    Hi all
I would like to download but not install OSX Mountain Lion on my MBP which is currently running OSX Mavericks.
This however seems impossible. I think OSX Mavericks were already installed on my MBP and therefore it seems "impossible" to download it.
Now, why would I to do this? The answer is quite reasonable, due to certain demands related to an application portfolio I need Mountain Lion, because the portfolio is not upgraded to run on Mavericks. And, it is more reasonable to downgrade a version of OSX, rather waiting for the portfolio upgrade which can take years.
Yes, I need to downgrade my secondary MBP which also came with preinstalled Mavericks. This can be done, if I only could download but not install Moutain Lion.
It should be easy enough; download Mountain Lion, make an installer and make a bootable thumb usb stick. Then erase Mavericks and install Mountain Lion.
I have previously bought Mountain Lion so it is accessible to me in the App Store, but whenever I try to hit the Download button, I get a message saying this can't be done, since I am running Mavericks.
This bugs me, it should be obvious users needs the flexibility to swap whatever OSX version they need. It is still software.
So, how can I download but not install Mountain Lion on my newer MBP that came with preinstalled Mavericks?
I would like to see answers like:
"In order to get this to work, you first have to disable the locking mechanism in [...] " instead of "No, this is impossible to do"
    Regards

    Thanks for your reply Eric
Can't help wondering thought, people are ok with this?
Basically Apple are saying: "Do not attempt to install an older version of OSX which came preinstalled. If so, expect multiple failures." Really?! Has it always been so? For me it's not like I'm going to install Snow Leopard on my Late 2013 Retina MBP, but I would expect some form of backward compatibility between the previous version and it successor. Apparently this is not possible, and how is this even acceptable?
Personally, I am not going to downgrade, as if I had a choice, but I would and I expected however, the possibility to at least download the previous OSX version. What do you do if you have bought several applications, not necessarily online from App Store and buy yourself a new Mac with preinstalled Mavericks and after installing your "old" applications they fail to work properly? What do you do since downgrading apparently is not an option. So... again, what do you do?
If you don't have friends with an older Mac, you could be facing serious problems. And I'm not talking about gaming, but serious business.
I find this quite disturbing actually, and please tell me it's not so. There gotta be a way to do this?
I simply want to download the OS but I expect some registry values (like windows' registry) keeps preventing this.
It should be possible to simply download and not download and install in one operation, shouldn't it?
    Regards

  • I have installed a OSX 10.7.5 and I want to install a clean copy of OS X mountain Lion on my mac.

I want to install a clean copy of Mountain Lion not an update from my current version which is 10.7.5.
I do not want to keep my old program files. I already have my personal info backed up.
    Thanks

If you don’t have it yet, get Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store but do not install it yet (orredownload it if you did install it)
Create a bootable install drive for OS X Mountain Lion, make one manually with a USB drive oruse the LionDiskMaker tool to automate the process with a USB or DVD
With the boot installer drive connected to the Mac, reboot and hold down the Option key
Choose the “Mac OS X Installer” startup volume from the boot menu
Select “Disk Utility” and choose the hard drive you wish to format, click the “Erase” tab, and then pull down the “Format” menu and select “Mac OS Extended (Journaled)” as the type, name the drive if you wish
Click the “Erase” button and let the drive format – this is the point of no return
When finished, quit out of Disk Utility and now select the “Install Mac OS X” option from the menu
Choose your freshly formatted hard drive and install Mountain Lion
When the Mac reboots you will have a clean installation of Mac OS X 10.8 to work with.
I did this last week and its working fine

  • Will i get a free mountain lion upgrade

I am from india. I am looking to buy macbook pro 15inch base version today.
As,the macbook comes with lion preinstalled will i get mountain lion a free upgrade ?
Or should i buy the mountain lion.
    Please tell me.

The free upgrade program ended some months ago, so if you buy a MacBook Pro with OS X Lion, you will have to pay $19.99 to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
In that case, and if you don't want to pay for Mountain Lion you have two options:
    1. Buy a MacBook with OS X Mountain Lion.
    2. Get your Mac with OS X Lion and upgrade to OS X Mavericks when it's released this fall. See > http://www.apple.com/osx/preview
If you want to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion, make a backup of your data
