Mountain Lion mirroring feature.

When Apple Maps was proven to be faulty and Tim Cook apologizes to the users and added to be better as users will provide FEEDBACK. Do you think Apple reads these feedbacks? There are thousand users asking from Apple about Mountain Lion mirroring features not available for mid 2010 iMac. Until now Apple is quite about it. Apple does not need your feedback, it needs your money.

Although i have tried airaParrot, nothing beats the functionalities that come with mirroring and airplaying through an apple based software like the one made available through the ipod touch and ipad. I hope apple develops an app for 2010 macbook pro users.

  • Mountain Lion Airplay feature is False Advertising

    Here's my note to Apple:
After a frustrating 2 hour call on why airplay in Mountain Lion did not work properly  - see transcript of case # 356682008 - i was told to connect via ethernet cable to identify the issue. Ethernet Cable - in my household they went the way of dinosaurs as the one feature that made me upgrade to mountain lion was the ability to use airplay wirelessly - without having to connect the $60 Apple cable to my HDTV anymore. I do not even know the last time I had an ethernet cabe in my hands.
The fact that nowhere in your literature as of this morning requested an ethernet cable as part of the specification for use of the features of Mountain Lion basically equates to false advertising - either that or the MacBook Pro you sold me lack some of the functions that you were supposed to provide - I would like to know how are you going to fix this situation that does not require me to waste any more of my billable time with you.

Apple Menu > System Preferences > Displays
At the bottom of this window should be an AirPlay Mirroring drop down list that should display your AppleTV.
If your AppleTV does not display here, then it is either disconnected from the network, or your MBP is connected to a different network than your AppleTV.  It sounds like you potentially have two networks available to you (the Motorola and the Linksys).  Both devices must be on the same network.
If your AppleTV is listed, but you are still not able to Mirror your display to your HDTV, check the resolution settings for the external display (AppleTV).  An AppleTV2 can only display to 720p (or 1280x720).  If you are attempting to force a higher resolution (1080p / 1920x1080), then the AppleTV is receiving an "unrecognized/invalid signal" and will not display.

  • Mountain Lion mirroring - screen resolution problems

I've just upgraded to Mountain Lion and am no longer able to set the screen resolutions on the iMac monitor and my Sony LCD 46" to mirror properly. Previously it worked very well by selecting the highest resolution for both the iMac and the TV - but now selecting those resolution settings no longer mirror properly.  I've also tried other resolution combinations with limited success.  When the iMac looks good - the mirrored TV monitor does not or vice versa.
Any suggestions or directions/instructions would be appreciated.
    Thanks..

You should have checked it before upgrading to Mountain Lion. Apple says that AirPlay Mirroring requires some hardware video encoding capabilities of 2nd and 3rd generation Intel Core processor, making all the 2010 and early Macs unsupported, but we don't know why AirParrot can stream on all the computers

  • Mountain Lion new features

I downloaded the new mountain Lion but I cannot find any of the new features like Imessage etc.

Do you see three little dots with three little lines in the right upper corner of your screen?

  • ARD and Mountain Lion - Resume feature

We think we have discovered and issue with ARD, the resume feature and Mountain Lion.
We have 3 all intel mac labs at our middle school.
We just upgraded to Mountain Lion
We use ARD all the time for locking screens, teaching and disseminating software.
We have had an issue with Resume which we would just like to permanently remove.  We seem to have discovered this, anyone else having this issue?
    1. Set up the client computer so that resume does not work (don't need it with 500 kids using computers in a middle school). We set the General preferences and also made the Saved State folder read only.
    2. When we manually launch an app, restart the computer it seems to work fine.  (Manually= stand in front of the computer use your hand and the mouse)
    3. When we launch and app with ARD (open item) and then restart the computer with ARD, the app always opens on restart.
Go figure.  Will do more testing tomorrow but we think this is what is happening.  This is unfortunate because kids always forget to quit apps or think that by clicking on the Red dot they are quitting not just closing the window.  We use the ARD restart to sort of 'reset' the computer fresh, does us no good if Resume restarts the saved state.
    Anyone else have this issue?

Confirmed that this bug still exists in OS X 10.9.4 and 10.9.5. It is likely that the command line version of the restart tool (which is what ARD would send) does not honour the preferences. I’ve filed a bug (18571950).

  • I would like to know if the new mountain lion social feature works with firefox.

I added social networking to my accounts on mountain lion. In Safari there is a share button directly next to the address bar. I am wondering if this feature is also compatible with firefox. I can't seem to find a share button.

hello, the developers at mozilla are already working on an integration of sharing & social features into the browser - at the moment they are scheduled to land in firefox 17.
in the meantime you could try the ''firefox share'' addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/firefox-share-alpha/

  • Apple tv and Mountain Lion Mirror problems

Hi so I upgraded to Mountain Lion the day it came out on my macbook pro and so far im really happy with it. But I am all of the sudden having problems mirroring it on my apple tv. I worked fine up until about a week ago and now it doesnt seem to want to work. When I click on the mirror icon nothing happens, I just turns blue around it for about 15 secs and then nothing. I have tried everything and im lost. HELP!

Do a reset of apple tv and try again,in case it still is having issue check if you have latest updates on Apple tv as well as for mountain lion.

  • Mountain lion mirroring

I am very disappointed that mirroring is not supported on my macs. The fact that apple did not make this clear is only surpassed by the poor support who described my Mac as "old" and the request that I visit a feedback site to express my concerns. This whole experience was very poor, almost Microsoft like.
Please change your policies and procedures to avoid this blatant under delivery. You have taught us to expect your products to be brilliant, please live up to the expectations you set.

You're incorrect. The specs for 10.8 and its individual features were posted on Apple's website right after the WWDC in early June.
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
The mbp is less than two years old
You may have purchased it less than two years ago, but the model in your profile was introduced in early April, 2010. The 13" MBP has been updated three times since then, the OS, twice. This is why AppleCare described your MBP model as "old," which it is.
Old is old and new is new, and ne'er the twain shall meet, if you get my drift.

  • If I move to Mavericks from Mountain Lion, what features and functions will I lose?

I have read about the problems some users are having with interrupted downloads, slow running etc.  Apple trumpets its new features but doesn't seem to mention which ones will disappear.  I believe USB sync will be lost for some apps: fine if you have internet coverage but not a valid assumption in many parts of rural Queensland.
I'd like to hear what other backward steps may be involved in the "upgrade".

  • HT201343 Is Mountain Lion Airplay feature enabled on boot-up?

I would like to be able to log into and access my Mac Mini from the comfort of my sofa. If Airplay is enabled,
can i use the AppleTV to display the initial login screen.
Also, assuming the above is possible, should the Bluetooth keyboard be paired with the AppleTV or with the Mini?

Airplay is initiated from the device being mirrored and not from the Apple TV.

  • Multiple displays  Mountain Lion  mirror

Is it possible to use the Mirror function of MountainLion to create a second display?

Hah!  Yep, that's where I'm at.  I was hoping the new OS might let me set up a second, wireless display.  No Can Do.... yet, huh?

  • Facetime not working after Mountain Lion update

I have a Macbook Pro. After I updated to Mountain Lion (from Lion), Facetime no longer works. I've tried with multiple people, but they aren't receiving my calls and I'm not receiving their calls. In Lion Facetime worked fine, but now it's not working. I also can't get iMessages to work. This is very frustrating, because I was really looking forward to iMessages. My Macbook Pro is still new, I purchased it in the first week August (2012). It came with Lion already installed. It's only 2 months old now. So I know my computer can support all of Mountain Lion's features. By the way, I'm running on Mountain Lion 10.8.2. Any help would be great! Thanks

    Hi,
The two may be linked as there is a common support app called IMAgent that helps with both Messages and FaceTime.
    Shut down both apps.
With the Finder as the Front App > use the Go Menu > Hold down ALT key and select Library.
In the Library find and open th Preferences Folder
Find com.apple.IMAgent.plist and drag it to the Trash
Before restarting the App now go to Activity Monitor in Applications/Utilities.
Find imagent (it  is in lower case).
Highlight and use the Quit button.
    Now restart the app(s).
This will recreate the .plist  from defaults.

  • I have OS X 10.6.8 Can and should i upgrade to mountain lion?

My wonderful son gave me is MacBook. I am wondering if I can and if I should upgrade to Mountain Lion? I have an iPhone 5 and an iPad 3 and am slowly moving to haveing only Mac Products. I would like them to all work together in the Cloud. What should I do?

    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)

             7. Xserve (Early 2009)
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps - App compatibility and feature support for OS X & iOS.
We can't tell you what to do. Go to Apple's website and inform yourself of Mountain Lion's features to determine if it would benefit you to upgrade. Upgrading isn't mandatory nor always the best thing to do. If Snow Leopard serves all your needs well, then there is no need to upgrade unless you want certain features that would require upgrading. For example, if you want to use iCloud, then you have to upgrade because iCloud is not available for Snow Leopard.

  • Does anyone know of a good speech recognition program for Mountain Lion?

I purchased a speech recognition program in 2008, MacSpeech Dictate. I only used it for a short period of time, but problems with my hands have started up again. MacSpeech Dictate does not work on OS X 10.8. I wondered if there are any speech recognition programs available for this operating system? i found "Dragon Express" in the App store, but it was rated low, and apparently crashes with 10.8. I cannot beieve that Apple would forget about those with disabilities. I have activated the speech commands window and have experimented with it, but it seems limited for browsing the web. I wondered if there was a way to create my own commands using the Speech Command application in Mountian Lion? Any ideas anyone? Have I missed something with Speech Commands on 10.8?

The built in dictation is pretty good.  The only real downside is that the conversion is done server-side so you have to dictate, then wait a bit, and then dictate, and then wait a bit.
The gold standard is dragon dictate.  I think it's a few hundred bucks but it's fantastic software.  I belive the Nuance engine underneath it is used by the Mountain Lion dictation feature, though.

  • Will mountain lion contain new version of ilife?

I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion, but I'm missing features in iphoto to use the icloud for streaming pictures, and cannot find an upgrade for ilife.
Also, will Mountain Lion include an ilife upgrade?

The picture streaming/subscription features were part of MobileMe's Gallery and were discontinued with the transition to iCloud. Apple may release new versions of these programs when Mountain Lion is released, but these are standalone programs that are usually upgraded separately. It is likely Apple will release updates to fix bugs and implement Mountain Lion-specific features in the programs, but less so that Apple will release full version upgrades. However, we will ultimately have to wait and see.
