I'm reinstalling this gawd awful beta of an OS on my iMac yet again because I can only hope it was a bad install. iTunes has audio stream issues, cursor jumps on screen, don't even try and multitask with sharing windows on another computer through share screen. My amazing iMac is reduced to a stuttering mess now. And apple is being mum on the details. One of apple's 3500 dollar computers that I still the top of the line shouldn't perform like a 5 year old machine. I even have a SSD. Absolute disappointment. Here's hoping a reinstall is worthwhile.

As I mention above, have you try a clean install to see how it goes or you simply perform a reinstall over the faulity system?
As long as you have your TimeMachine backup, you have nothing to loose. I've done a clean install in less time you took complaining about Apple's quality. Until you try this, you cannot state for sure that you issue is between your iMac and ML.
We are all agree that when something goes wrong during a OS update, it is frustrating. Again, if 3millions copy were already sold last week, I would assume that your issue isn't generalized and that you are facing an exception.

Remember, there always a risk in upgrading an OS. That's why we need backup and that's also why some will wait a first upgrade to reduce the risk.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
One thing is the memory, and another thing is the hard disk space. You are telling me that you have 200 GB of free space on the hard disk, but the App Store is telling you that you have to install 2 GB of memory or more on your Mac if you want to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
First of all, open  > About this Mac > More Info, and copy "Model Identifier" here, so we can know what Mac you have got and how much memory you can install.
We recommend to buy the memory in OWC or Crucial (Crucial is cheaper and offers the same compatibility warranty as OWC) because you won't probably have any problem with the memory you buy there

Since installing Mountain Lion OSX my Apple TV second generation cannot access the library on my iMac - any suggestions?

I recently installed Montain Lion on my 2009 iMac. Now when I try to access my iTunes library through my second generation Apple TV I receive the following message: "Could not connect to ...Library".
I have done the following to resolve the problem with no improvement:
(1) verified that my software is up to date on both the Apple TV and iMac (iTunes).
(2) Verified that home sharing for my entire iTunes Library is turned on in my iTunes preferences.
(3) Verified that the network is working - I only have one network, the signal strength shown on the Apple TV is 5 bars, and the Apple TV an access other internet programming (Vimeo, YourTube, etc.).
(4) Restarted both my Apple TV and my iMac.
Prior to my Mountain Lion upgrade the Apple TV worked fine and communicated with my iMac without a problem. I'm out of ideas and would appreciate any suggestions from the community. Thanks

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, I am having a similar issue on my iMac 27" (2011).
Once the computer goes to sleep, Apple TV is unable to wake it up (I do have the "Wake for network access" Energy Saver option turned on).
I have to specifically login and "wake up" the computer before my Apple TV can see it.
Overall, I find Mount Lion to be much more stable and smoother compared to Lion - but this issue is very annoying

Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Click Go then move the NetworkInterfaces.plist file from the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store and try downloading Mountain Lion.

If your friend has Mt Lion show up in his purchases area of the Mac App Store then at some point he bought Mt Lion.
You did not buy Mt Lion from the Mac App Store because it came with the system pre-installed. So it will not show in your purchases area.
No you do not have to buy it again if you want to reinstall it. You use the Recovery system to do that and it can be done over and over again at no charge to you.
You can use either the built in Recovery HD partition that is on the internal hard drive of your Mac or the Online Internet Recovery system that boots the computer from over the internet from the Apple servers.

Right at this minute I am having a nightmare with this as well.
I have two.
One users the older original Apple ID I was talking about and the other uses the @me.com name I created
Yesterday I notice that the older ID iPhone was saying it was not doing iMessages and needed to be set to do so.
The "Waiting for Activation" spun for ages. My Mac Messages app had "lost" the iPhone Number.
It was late when I discovered this and today I left the phone at work.
With my Second phone it was also saying it was not Connected to the iMessages server.
It too said "waiting for Activation"
When it did send a Message to the Mac the iPhone Number here was Greyed out and I could not set it as the Send From ID.
I set it about 7.30PM here and it still says "Waiting for Activation" even thought it shows the no present iPhone number as an Option and the two Apple IDs and I can receive and Send iMessages.
I still can't use the iPhone's Own Number !!!
So it has been doing this for at least 2 and 1/2 hours.
Even tried resetting it with no Apple ID so it would "register" the iPhone Number.
Bizarrely it is showing the Absent iPhone's number as a Alias.
I am wondering if you can only register one iPhone Number.
I was trying to keep one iPhone out of the Sync process but it seems to have gained the other IDs whether I enter them or not.
At present I cannot work out if the apps on the iOS devices are failing, whether the Mac version is at fault or if it is a Server thing.
As it was set up and was working I am presuming the server is the issue as we also have not had Updates.
As for providing an Answer I am stuck myself right this minute.

Exactly how do I go from 10.6.1 to Mountain Lion on an Apple replaced iMac hard drive please?

I am having the hard drive (from the recall) on my 2009 intel iMac in an hour in my home via Apple. I have 2 seperate backups on two different external drives. Both have Mountain Lion which I purchased when it came out. Apple specifies the tech will only put the install dvd that came with the iMac in 2009 which has 10.6.1. so will i have to update to 10.6.8 (can I even do this?) which is a Mountain Lion requirement and then firewire transfer from my backup drive? I'm looking (gratefully) for the exact steps. Thanks. dennis

The easiest way to accomplish this, assuming your hard drive is working and it's being replaced as a precaution, is to make a complete bootable clone of the internal hard drive to one of your external drives using a utility such as Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!. Then once the drive has been replaced, just boot your system from the clone and clone it back to the internal drive.

You must update VZ Access Manager to verision 7.4.5 before upgrading to mountain Lion from Lion if you use a Verizon USB modem to access the internet. If you do not upgrade VZ Access manager first you will not have Internet access after you upgrade to Mountain Lion Ver 10.8.2 and will have no way to update VZAcess manager

If you are attempting to use a VZ Access Manager installer earlier than 7.4.5 on Mountain Lion, the software is incompatible. You should use the following link to determine if your device is supported by 7.4.5 on Mountain Lion, and if true, get the 7.4.5 software.
Is this an error message coming from an attempt to install VZ Access Manager v7.4.5 on Mountain Lion? If so, it is interesting that they assume people would know this tidbit before their ML upgrade, or expect people to reinstall an operating system to properly upgrade their connection software.
I just checked the requirements for 7.4.5 and it claims Mountain Lion compatibility. And, you are allowed to select either Lion or Mountain Lion in the download selection process. If you could only install 7.4.5 in Lion before a 10.8 upgrade, why is there a separate 10.8 selection criteria for installation?

How to install (not update) the HP LaserJet 1020/1022 on Mountain Lion? The Apple Software Update doesn't show nothing.

I'm trying to install my HP LaserJet 1020 on my new Mountain Lion anyway I'm not able to find any driver! The HP says that I can update or install this printer using the Apple Software Update anyway I don't see any update or installation on it.
Does someone know a way to download a driver or find a solution for this problem? With previous version of the OS It was possible to download a .dmg for the HP LaserJet 1022 (the driver was the same for both versions, 1020 and 1022). I tried to download and install the driver for Snow Leopard anyway I don't see any entry when I try to select a driver for my printer during the installation phase (the list contain only two very generic drivers for HP printers).

Updates are only available if the software has already been installed.
HP is responsible for updating their drivers for Mountain Lion compatibility. Not Apple.
Doubtful the driver for Snow Leopard will run on Mountain Lion.

Is there anyway i could update my mac to the OS X Mountain Lion at the Apple store?

I'm trying to update my Mac Book Pro to the OS X Mountain Lion but im having a hard time doing so. I keep trying at my school because that is where i get the best wi-fi at. I can usually get to about 2.1 gigs before i have to leave for the day. When i get home and have my mac on standby and try to bring it back the next day, sometimes i have to completely start over.
My main question is that i was wondering if there was a way i could bring my mac book to the apple store and they could update it for me since i have already purchased the update.

Does Mountain Lion bring back Apple USB modem support?

I was one of those individuals shocked to realize that Apple failed to update the driver for the Apple USB modem from 32 bit to 64 bit in Lion thus killing everyone's abilty to fax from their Mac.
When I spoke to Apple Support last week, the individual hinted that Apple was going to do right and ship a 64 bit driver so people could start using their modems again for faxing.
Can anyone with the Gold Release confirm that the functionality is back or not?

Thanks for the reply. Still curious if Apple did right by their customers as the support rep implied that they would. I can't confirm either because I discovered tonight that I can't upgrade to Mountain Lion yet until Mariner Software decides to make one of their products compatible with 10.8. Starting to think I need to find an alternative to their product.
