Mountain Lion: on the Notification Center notification and Mail:
how to limit notifications to an email account?
At least, is it possible to choose what email account, the arrival of a message launch a notification.
When running more than a dozen e-mail accounts, it may be appropriate to display only the notifications of one or two major accounts.

Which os are you using?  Which Mail version are you using?

Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Test after each one. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Make sure that the right volume is selected in the Startup Disk preference pane.
    2. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up. If there's no change, reconnect them
    3. Reset the System Management Controller.
    4. Reset the PRAM.
    5. Start up in safe mode, then restart as usual. If you can't start in safe mode—for instance, if FileVault is active—then triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /var/folders
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with an item named "folders" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your administrator password. Restart and empty the Trash.

(Mountain Lion) suddenly the screen turns black, and I have to use the on/off switch to turn it on. And, the screen turns to zoom, and the only way to return to normal is to close the window and start all over again?

Does the screen go black while you are using the machine? ...or after it has sat idle for a bit?
If it happens while you're using the machine, check to see if a hot corner has been set for sleep. You can do that here: System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver > Screen Saver and click the button labelled "Hot Corners..." in the lower right.
If it happens after a bit of idle time, that's normal sleep behavior. The delay can be adjusyed here: System Preferences > Energy Saver.
In either case, pressing any key on the keyboard should bring it out of sleep.
    Re zooming -
If this happens while in Safari, and you are using an Apple Magic Mouse, a default setting applicable to it is that a soft double-tap on the mouse will zoom the Safari window. A second double-tap will bring it back.
If it is the entire screen that is zooming, Control plus scroll gesture on the mouse will zoom the whole screen. Repeat with the opposite scroll gesture to bring it back.

  • I erased my HD. Now I can't instal mountain lion from my bootable flash drive, and keep getting "installation error. Try again."

I bought  mountain lion, made a bootable flash drive.
I booted from it and it went to upgrading right away!
So I stopped it and went to my former recovery partition I erased my HD because I wanted a clean start.
Now I can't instal mountain lion from the bootable flash drive, and keep getting "installation error. Try again."
and there is no 4 choices window.
I don't know what to do.

How did you create the USB install thumb drive? If it was with Disk Utility I have run into this problem and have since used THIS program to make the USB install drive.
As to your problem you only have one option and that is to Reinstall the Original OS X version that came on your computer or if you still have the Lion Recovery Partition use that to reinstall Lion. Or if you system came with Lion and you have No Lion Recovery HD Partition you can boot the system from over the internet and Reinstall Lion.
At startup hold down the Command+Option+r keys until you saa a spinning Globe in the center of the screen. Once that loads Repartition the drive as One partition and then reinstall Lion.

  • Notification center look and feel

The new notification center look and feel seems quite unlike the rest of the iPhone.
Most of the iPhone has a light colored, rounded, kind of comfortable look. But the new notification center has a much more dark, angular look. (To me, it looks more like an Android app than an iOS component.)
Any chance it can be rebranded? Or failing that, any chance of a settings option to customise the background image, so I can at least change from the dark "linen" texture to a wallpaper of my choice? (e.g. it might look much nicer (to me!) if I could change it to use the default iPhone water drops background). The slide down button itself (the bit of the notification center graphics which appears on screen, even in full-screen mode, if you make the 'wrong' move) could be much more rounded, as well.
    Mike

iOs 5 in general looks and feels awkward to me.  It feels cheap and not at all as polished as Apple's products have been in the past.  The alarms have new colors for no apparent reason, the text messages have colors for no apparent reason, the notification center has a distracting texture, again, for no reason... Yet none of these colors or textures are configurable or removable.  What was the point exactly?
This theme shift is quite discouraging in the grand scheme of things.  It doesn't bother me much, but I definitely prefered the way my phone looked when I bought it.

  • Hi i upgrade from lion to mountain lion to day on my mini mac,Since the upgrade i am getting no sound through my HDMI cable which was working fine on lion Checked the midi audio settings and system preferences to out on HDMi nothing no sound whats so ever

Hi i upgraded from lion to mountain lion to day on my mini mac,Since the upgrade i am no longer getting sound through my HDMI cable which was working fine on lion Checked the midi audio settings and system preferences to out on HDMi nothing no sound whats so ever.Any one any ideas?
I use a samsung TV for my monitor via HDMI.Tried all the system Audi setting nothing .Head phone and internal speakers are fine.

Similar issue; Audio was working fine on Lion, now not on Mountain Lion. Have a Macbook Pro early 2011 with AMD Radeon HD 6750M, connected by thunderbolt through a Lacie LBD to a mini-displayport to HDMI adapter (n.b. same problem when not going through the LBD) to a Pioneer VSX 521 AV receiver. For me when I go into audio Midi settings all the volume sliders for the displayport device are greyed out and at zero. But when I click 'configure speakers', it's able to send out the test signals to each speaker. Part of the problem could be that I'm not getting the option to put out 6channel sound, only 2 or 8 channel. Since my system is Dolby 5.1, and I only have 6 speakers, I would have expected the 6ch option to be available. But I imagine there's more to it than that. Elsewhere someone has suggested playing with Remote Interactive over HD on an Onkyo device; I'll see if there's something similar on the Pioneer that can be changed. Any other suggestions welcome.

  • I have installed the most recent version of Snow Leopard on my MAC, and I am trying to install Mountain Lion from the Apple Store.  It will not install, because it says I do not have 2GB of memory, even though I have over 200GB available.  Please help.

I have installed the most recent version of Snow Leopard on my MAC, and I am trying to install Mountain Lion from the Apple Store.  It will not install, because it says I do not have 2GB of memory, even though I have over 200GB available.  Please help.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
One thing is the memory, and another thing is the hard disk space. You are telling me that you have 200 GB of free space on the hard disk, but the App Store is telling you that you have to install 2 GB of memory or more on your Mac if you want to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
First of all, open  > About this Mac > More Info, and copy "Model Identifier" here, so we can know what Mac you have got and how much memory you can install.
We recommend to buy the memory in OWC or Crucial (Crucial is cheaper and offers the same compatibility warranty as OWC) because you won't probably have any problem with the memory you buy there

  • HT1338 i have a really old mac book with mac osx 10.6 and I cant purchase mountain lion in the app store. it says its not compatible with this computer. what can i do

I have been trying to purchase mountain lion from the app store and it doesnt let me. I keep getting mobile me in the system preferences and i want to upgrade so i can link this mac book with my icloud account and devices. How can I uograde to mountain lion?

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, click on More Info, and check the model identifier against the following, which are the earliest models capable of running 10.8:
    iMac7,1
    MacBook5,1
    MacBookPro3,1
    MacBookAir2,1
    Macmini3,1
    MacPro3,1
    Xserve3,1
If your computer is incapable of running 10.8 but has at least a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and at least 2GB RAM, phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion.

  • How do you erase and reinstall a hard drive without a disc? I bought this mac book pro under a year ago and am pretty sure i downloaded mountain lion from the app store. Basically Im having startup issues and this is the final step Ive reached

when I start my laptop it loads a third of the way and shuts down automaticallyI've tried to safe boot, repairing discs and clearing RAM but nothing has worked. basically I've come to the final step of having to a erase my hard drive and reinstall mountain lion however Apple support suggest that I install from a disc however I installed mountain lion from the App Store. can anyone help me go about this?

Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

Open the Mac App Store on the other Mac and in the Quick Links sign into your account. See if the Mountain Lion purchase is among hidden apps in the iCloud area of your account info.

    Where do I get this?
It was only released a couple of months ago.
I really feel disinfranchised already by not being able to upgrade and keep up with other software needs but to not allow me to update to my full capacity is really ridiculous.

If you don't have the Apple ID and password, how did you get Mountain Liomn in the first place? Without the Apple ID and password, you'll need to buy it to download it.

A 2008 Mac won't have originally shipped with Lion. You need to install 10.6.8 on the computer, log into the Mac App Store with the Apple ID you used to purchase Mountain Lion, click on the Purchases tab, and download it.
