Mountain Lion OS from the App Store

I purchased mountain lion os from the app store for my laptop but also want to upgrade my imac from lion to mountain lion. When I went to the mountain lion app to purchase it again for my desktop it did not give me the option to buy only to download. I thought we would have to purchases two copies of the OS for each device, is that incorrect?

The Terms of Use for Mac App Store software is that you may install it on as many Macs as you own or have in your control. That includes OS X.

  • I just downloaded Mountain Lion yesterday from the App Store and it won't install. I stopped it when it wouldn't do anything all day and now how do i restart the installation process?

Uaually when you purchase something from the app store and it has downloaded, you see an install button. I found nothing of that nature. I have a late model 2009 mac mini with plenty of memory and plenty of disk space. What am I missing?

Never mind, I see it's Mountain Lion.
Can you check in your Applications Folder to see if the installer is still there. You are confused on some things, because the installer should be giving you a DOWNLOAD text on the purchases page, not install.

  • I purchased Mountain Lion online from the App store but it won't download

I purchased Mountain Lion from the App Store, and after 2 days it still hasn't downloaded. The download appears to have frozen.
Has anyone else had this problem?

First of all, restart your Mac and resume the download. To resume the download, open App Store > Purchases, and press the Resume button next to OS X Mountain Lion.
If it doesn't work, open Finder, go to Applications folder and delete the OS X Mountain Lion installer. Then, open App Store > Purchases, and download Mountain Lion again

  • Mountain Lion gone from the App Store?

I originally had some disk problems with my 2010 MacBook Pro, so I erased the drive using the recovery console and went to reinstall OSX, but it says I haven't purchased Mountain Lion in the App Store! Well, I went to the App Store to buy it and can't find it?!?!?!

Yeah, I can't find it in iTunes either... It's like the Obamacare website. DOES-NOT-WORK.

  • Where did Lion Go from the app store?

Where did Lion Go from the app store?  it's gone.  I my MacBook Pro can't run Mountain Lion but it could run Lion.  But it's gone!

If you need to purchase Lion call 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. Ask for a Sales Representative. They will check your Apple ID, and email you a code and instructions.  The cost is $29.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download.

  • If I buy Lion now (from the App store) will I get a free Mountain Lion upgrade?

I haven't been able to find any definitive documentation on this. I have a MBP and Mac Pro at work and haven't upgraded either of them to Lion for various reasons. However, I have now been tasked with some App programming and need Lion. So, my question is - If we buy Lion from the App Store will we get a free upgrade to Mountain Lion?
    Thanks everyone!

Mountain Lion will be upgradable from Snow Leopard, so if you have not yet purchased Lion then it may be worth it to just wait and not go through two upgrades.

  • Timeout on Mountain Lion update in the App Store

Has anyone come across this? I upgraded three of my Macs to Mountain Lion successfully and downloaded and installed the HP Printer update from the App Store. When I came to do the same on my brand new MacBook Air yesterday I kept on getting timeouts in the App Store, just for the update pack. Anyone have the same issue?

  • HT1338 installing Mt. lion update from the app store, FROZE

Got an update notice from the Apps Store for Mt. Lion update and a canon printer update. Clicked "Update" and everything was normal till a popup to "close Safari to continue the installation."  I closed Safari but the popup did not go away. The update bar says " running package scripts" but nothing has happened in the last hour. Tried to restart the computer but got "Your computer can NOT be restarted now because software is being installed." How do I get out of this mess ?

  • Unable to purchase "The Lions Roar" from the app store and 3 others...

Ok, so I seem to have an odd issue. Sorry if there is another thread about this but a search didn't flag anything up.
When I purchase from the app store I get the above message come up but I select ok and continue without issue. This is I've never had any issues where an app wasn't downloaded properly and "the lions roar" isn't even in the app store?
I have tried to resync with iTunes, no luck. I've tried to sign out and sign back in but no luck.
    Its getting really annoying now.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Sean

Loads of people are getting this.  "The Lion's Roar" appears to be music rather than an app. I get the same thing with an album I downloaded and my message also refers to "2 other items" (the "2 other items" thing seems to be a constant!).  The message seems to refer to a past music download but can appear whether it is apps or media you are downloading.
It is clearly an iTunes glitch which I have decided to live with rather than waste hours trying to rectify, especially as at it may well be a problem at Apple's end anyway.

  • I want to upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion. Seems the app store only allows the new Maverick to be downloaded. Is there is a link to still install Mountain Lion?

I upgraded a couple weeks ago on my macbook pro, and now that Mavericks is out, it seems one can't install anything but the latest. Some of my apps aren't yet compatible and I need to wait. I have a 2009 MacPro.
    Thanks, any help appreciated.

Call 800 MY APPLE and get sales support. They can work it out. It is still possible to purchase Mountain Lion, they send you various emails and links to do so. It costs $19.95.
In my case, I had purchased it for another computer, I was told if I go to purchases at the App Store, there it is, and I can download it to the one that needs it. It's that simple.

  • I updated the new version of OSX Mountain Lion and now the app store won't open. I keep getting an error message from it. any advice?

I got the notification that i needed to update the software and when i did and it finished, the app store stopped opening. it keeps sending me an error message. does anyone know what to do? thanks

MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) is required. You've not indicated which one you have. If yours is one of these, then http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/

  • I am running Mountain Lion Server, and the App Store indicates an upgrade to Server.App version 2.2.5. When I try to upgrade it will not install. Is that because OSX8 is no longer supported; and if so, is there an alternate source for this upgrade if

Mountain Lion Server.app no longer supported?

Probably  a long shot, but try resetting the App Store and Clearing Cookies.

  • Error with Mountain Lion Download on the App Store

Hi there, I've come across an error which I've been unable to solve and have not found similar instances/references on the forums: I bought Mountain Lion and started downloading. I have several laptops, so I also started downloading on my main laptop. In the mean time, the first download was very slow and had 9 hours to go. The second laptop, started later, had 30 mins to go. I realized the first one was connected to my slower home wi fi (I have two), so I interrupted the download  and tried to re-download it once I connected to the fast wi-fi. When I tried to press download again, I had an error. Next to that error, a "X" (for cancel) came up.
Then, the oddest thing happened and Mountain Lion was removed from my purchases!
After that, I went back into purchases and when I clicked "buy" it just said "You've already purchased this, click here to download". When I did that, I got this screen. Now, nothing happens. I just get stuck here.
I've installed Mountain Lion on the other laptop (the second one) and it seems to be working fine.
I looked online and there was a supposed fix: to download a Lion Combo 10.7.4. I did, but when I tried to instal it, it just said that it requires a version of Lion 10.7.3. or earlier... I have 10.7.4, so this did not work.
    Any help?
    Many thanks!!!
