Mountain lion print drivers non-existent

Since upgrading to ML, despite all the battery and overheating problems, my Samsung ML-2525W has been working fine.
Unitl this morming. Suddenly the print queue couldn't see it. I simply deleted the printer and queue with the intention of re-adding it via Print & Scan.
The printer shows up no problem, but then i try to 'add' it, a dialogue tells me there is software available from the apple servers, and it attempts to download it.
It then tells me there are no drivers available. Well, great. I already have the software installed - as I said, it has been printing absolutely fine for weeks with ML.
However, I can find no way around the Print & Scan setup looking for the drivers. Consequently I simply can't add the printer.
Any ideas? This really isn't good enough.

Greetings,
I have somewhat of the same issue.  I upgraded from Lion to ML and now I cannot get my Samsung ml2525w to print.  Worked fine with Lion - both USB and wireless).   I have tried to reset, reload, etc. and tried downloading both the current drivers as listed on the apple site as well as the drivers listed on the Samsung site - neither has worked.  Now I get blank page(s), black bars and/or the printer then goes offline.  Have to power off and unplug the USB then reconnect for the iMac to see the printer again.
How did you get your Samsung to print in the first place?
Any suggestions / guidance would be helpful
Thx.

I inadvertently installed the Mountain Lion Safari over my existing copy not realising that it would not work with OS 10.7.5 and now I am unable to use it .
Can someone suggest a solution please.

It should work, but it's an unmitigated mess. Simplest is to boot into recovery mode and reinstall the OS.

  • Just downloaded Mountain Lion and now none of my hundreds of Appleworks documents will open.  This is a huge disaster!  Please, anyone, I need a solution!

Just downloaded Mountain Lion 10.8.2 to my iMac and now none of my hundreds of Appleworks documents won't open.  What a disaster!  What can I do?

To resize the drive do the following:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
After the main menu appears select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. Select the hard drive's main entry then click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    2. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
    3. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired new volume's size. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.  (Note: You can only make a partition smaller in order to create new free space.)
    4. Click on the [+] button below the sizing window to add a new partition in the gray space you freed up. Give the new volume a name, if you wish, then click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a new volume on the drive.
It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss.  Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work.
Now boot your computer using your Snow Leopard DVD:
Booting From An OS X Installer Disc
      1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
      2. Restart the computer.
      3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
      4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple logo
          appears.
      5. Wait for installer to finish loading.
Follow onscreen instructions to install Snow Leopard. Just be sure you select the new partition you created as the installer's target so you don't erase your Mountain Lion system.

  • Photoshop CS4 and Mountain Lion Printing Question

I recently downloaded CS4 onto my new Macbook Pro Retina running Mountain Lion and I am not able to print from CS4 to my Epson 3800 printer. When I hit the print button, the light on the Epson 3800 blinks one time but nothing happens.  The file does not even get sent to the printing queue.
Photoshop CS4 otherwise works perfectly fine on my Macbook Pro Retina.  Additionally, all other applications on my Macbook Retina print perfectly fine on my Epson 3800.  For example, I can print from Aperture to the Epson 3800 just fine.  I am using the most recent Epson driver from the Epson website.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Peter,
Since your Epson 3800 printer is working fine with other applications, one workflow work around would be to export your Photoshop file as another format (for example .jpeg, .png, .tiff or even .pdf depending on what your content is). By exporting it as another format, you can open it using other applications (such as Acrobar Reader, or Preview) and print from there. While this is not the most ideal lsolution, it should do the trick if you are in a rush to print.
To help troubleshoot and solve this problem in the long run, you can take a look at this help page: Trouble Shooting Printing Problems, Photoshop CS4 Mac OS.
This helpful page lists all the possible things you can do to reset or fix the problem, it also lists a number of alternatives.
    Hope this helps!

  • Mountain lion printing mail bug

In Mountain Lion, a message in Mail with enlarged font will not print with enlarged font, but with the orginal smaller font. Albeit the enlarged font displays in Mail, it does not displayin the print window or in print preview.  For example, after enlargment in Mail, a 3-page message displays in the print window and preview and prints in the orginal smaller font as 5-pages, but with 2-pages blank. I did not have this probelm with Snow Leopard or Lion.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select "/var/log/cups/error_log" from the file list on the left side of the Console window. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the time of the last failed printing attempt. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

  • Mountain lion printing wirelessly to brother 2270dw?

Anyone know the steps to get Mountain Lion to print wirelessly to a Brother 2270dw - which happens to be the best-selling printer on Amazon?
From Snow Leopard, wireless printing to the 2270dw was flaky, but I always managed to fix it. Now that Mountain Lion has disabled WPS, the "PIN method" and a couple other methods no longer work.
    I did find this:
    http://host220.brother.com:8080/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAxMA==)/bc/bsp/sap/zsdb/display.ht m?SOLUTION=200000032816
but have not been able to make it to the end. My sysadmin days are a few decades past. Hoping for something just a little more straightforward.
    Suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
(If someone from Apple is reading ... wow, printer-setup is about as user-friendly as OpenBSD.)

AirPlay Mirroriong requires an Early 2011 or newer MacBook Pro. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404 Unfortunately, your Mac is not supported.
You can still mirror your Mac's display onto your Apple TV. Instead of AirPlay Mirroring, you can use an application like AirParrot or Beamer to do that

  • Epson/illustrator/mountain lion print quality problem

    Hi,
I just upgraded to mountain lion and now have problems printing from Illustrator CS4 and my Epson R1900. The print quality has drastically declined. I loaded the printers software update, tried every possible print setting but just can not get my files printed in a decent quality anymore.
I also tried to add the printer again but the response I am getting is : Can't install the software for the EPSON Stylus Photo R1900 because it is not currently available from the Software Update server.
However, according to Epson this model is compatible with Mountain Lion
Anybody else had this problem and/or a possible solution for me? Thanks in advance

I think the server might be busy or there are problems. Try later.

  • Using ePrint on Mac w/Mountain Lion - print jobs line up, nothing prints, system says all is fine.

Installed Mountain Lion and first day eprinting was fine.  Following day nothing would print.  All print jobs say received and pending.  WiFi works, test wifi print works, machine functions are correct just can't get anything to print.  Very frustrated.

    Hi there;
I hope you are doing well and sorry to learn  that you are having this issue
It looks like the printer is not getting a connection to the ePrint server. That is most probebly why the print jobs are not printing. Bear in mind that if you disable web services your current email will be locked for 6 months no way around that, you can if you want customize your email to one close to the one you currently have by adding a 1 (number) or another Letter to the old one.
    1. You will need to disabled web services.
Web Services must beenabled on your HP product in order to use the ePrint service. If Web Services is disabled, ePrint will not work.
From the product control panel, press the ePrint button ( ). The Web Services Settings menu displays.
Press the button ( ) next to the Down Arrow ( ) to select Turn ePrint off and  restart the printer and them turn the printer On , and then press the button ( ) next to OK . An information page prints.
    2. Now re-enable web services.
    3. You can print out the printers email address.
    4. Follow these steps to register at ePrintCenter.
Go to ePrintCenter , and then click Sign In . The Sign In to ePrintCenter window opens.
In the Sign In to ePrintCenter window, click Create an account . The Create an HP Web Services account window opens.
Enter your information in the text fields, and then click Create Account . The Add a Printer to your Account window opens.
In the Enter Printer Code text box, type the printer code found on the information page that you printed in the previous step.
    6. Enter the printer code that printed out on the sheet of paper.
    7. The printer should now show up as Connected and Ready in your account.
Let me know if you still having this issue after this troublesooting I will do my best to help you.
    Hope this helps!

  • Osx mountain lion print and scan problems

I purchased OSX 10.8 mountain lion upgrade it shut down one of my computers and I had to repair my drive and go back to Lion OSX.
The other one has made it unable to scan and shows some programs incorrectly comcast email etc. Almost like a Windows safe mode look.
    Any ideas or help?
    Thanks

Well I can only say it works great on my two machines, 2007 iMac and 2010 MacBook Pro and these have 4Gb of Ram. Does not you help you but I can only say how it works for me.
Have you run Activity Monitor and checked if any processes are using lots of CPU/Mem etc. Also anything in the Console Logs. Something is slowing it down, bad install or third party software etc.
If you have just installed a few minutes ago, Spotlight as to index the disk and this can take a while, it will run slow while this is occuring but will sort itself out, it will indicate if it is spotlight if you try to use it.

  • Mountain Lion - Unable to Encrypt Existing Time Capsule Data

    Hello....
I have just installed OSX Mountian lion (upgraded from OSX Lion) on my 2012 MBP.
I have an existing Time capsule (4th Gen) backup disk attached to this Mac and I have backups spanning to last couple of months.
I am not able to enable encryption on this disk.
The "Enable Encryption" Option is disabled for the exisiting Backup Data Volume.
Does it means that we can't enable encryption on existing backup disks and Encryption can be only enabled on freshly created backup disks ?
Any one facing the similar issue?
    Cheers!!
    M@c Bikr.

    I had this same issue.
    This fixed it:

  • Mountain Lion printing

when I upgraded to 10.8.3 the application for my Canon printer iP4700 became "New application".
this is very unfriendly there is no way to open the print queue to cancel a printing.
somehow I've paused the printing and cannot resume to print.
does anyone know anything concerning this weird printing application!

Remove it, either download an updated version from Canon or don't use it, let OSX handle the printing.

  • Xerox Phaser 6100 printer in Mountain Lion?

My migration from old hardware and OS 10.4 is almost complete but I have found no way to drive my Xerox Phaser 6100 printer.  Xerox recently (belatedly!) released a long list of Mountain Lion compatible drivers which were included in the latest system update.  However, although there were multiple Phaser 61XX drivers, 6100 was not one of them.
I really hate to scrap this useful machine.  Any ideas?

The latest Mountain Lion driver support begins with the Phaser 6130N. Tough break on the Phaser 6100.
Xerox has a page with links by operating system to PDF files containing all US Xerox printers compatible with the specific OS. There is a Mountain Lion link there.
If instead, you are wondering what supported non-Xerox printer to buy, look at the manufacturer specific driver updates on apple/support/downloads. Click the name of the driver update, rather than download it. You will see a link to a kb article that lists all currently supported printer models. For that manufacturer and other vendors.

  • Printing problem: epson R2880 , CS5 + 6, OS Mountain Lion

    Hi There,
First of all apologies if this is in the wrong thread, If so, could an admin please move it to a correct one?
I have searched google and these forums for an asnwer but am still having the same problem.
Since upgrading to Mountain Lion (from Snow leopard) my prints are not coming out well at all, it's mostly the reds which ae not vibrant at all, and coming out very orange.
I have tried numurous variations of settings:
photoshops manages colors, printer manages colors, relative, perceptual, made sure printer maanages colors is off, different paper types etc.
*I took screen shots of every setting to match to the prints so can post if neccesarry
I have also tried printing from Preview and LR 4, still having the same problem.
I even tried printing on a different machine with Snow Leopard installed (but was foreced to update to the latest Epson driver (9.0.2).
Does anyone have any idea where the problem could be?
I've been trying to print my portfolio for an important meeting and this has taken up about a full day of trial/error tests.
    OS: Mountain Lion
Printer: epson R2880 (Px 5600 in Japan) Driver (9.0.2)
Paper: epson Photo crispia / Superfine Matte (making sure to switch out the matte blak and photo black cartridges eveytime)
    SW: CS5, CS6, LR 4
    Thanks in advance,
    Jake

Apologies for the legth of this post but it needs it.
For 3 years I have struggled to get a B&W print without a magenta colour cast.
My old printer, an Epson 1400, only had 1 black so I thought this was to blame and bought a new Epson R2880 with 3 blacks earlier this year..
    My setup is
    CS5
    Fotospeed paper
    Fotospeed Crystal dye inks
    Profiles for each paper.
    A calibrated screen
    Windows 7
All drivers etc are up to date.
Because it was originally loaded with Epson inks, I used the Advanced B&W (ABW) setting to print B&W photos, which were actually very good considering I wasn't using Epson paper. When the Epson ink ran out, I changed to Fotospeed Crystal dye inks with profiles.
I have successfully printed colour photos with the new setup for a couple of months.
Yesterday I had a batch of photos to print so I set the system up to Photoshop Manages Colour etc (PMC). ( I know what I am doing here)
The first, a colour print, printed OK.
Because the second was a B&W, I did a test print using ABW and then a test print using PMC. The ABW had a magenta colour cast, the PMC printed B&W so I printed actual size with PMC and it worked great.
The third photo, another B&W, I again used PMC and did a small test print - it printed magenta. This was only minutes after printing photo 2.
I did the usual messing around with perceptual and relative col. and quality and max. quality setting, PSD v Tiff etc. and everything came out magenta.
Shutdown PC and went to bed. Printer remained switched on to save on ink cleaning routines.
    Today.
    Booted up PC.
Did a small test print using PMC and it came out B&W - no colour cast. ??????
Printed full size and it came out B&W no colour cast. On checking the print I noticed some blown highlights so went back into CS5 and did some adjustments to recover the highlights.
Tried a small test print with PMC and it printed magenta. Again, only minutes between the two prints and it goes from B&W to magenta.
Closed everything down and did a PC restart. Tried again with PMC and still magenta.
Several magenta attempts later and I nearly gave up the will to live.
Had a brainwave - I have Canon Digital Photo Professional on my machine as I use Canon cameras so I tried to directly print from the Canon software.
If this printed B&W then it would indicate a problem between CS5 and Epson. If it didn't work then it would absolve CS5
The software allows you to select paper profiles etc in a similar way to CS5 and I also set up the Epson software as no colour adjustment (just like when you use CS5)
Tried a test print and it printed B&W.
Went straight away into CS5 and printed the same test photo using PMC and it printed magenta.
Went straight back to the Canon software and printed a full size print and it printed B&W.
Can someone from Adobe please explain why
CS5 and the Canon software must be using the same print driver yet one of them is successful and the other isn't?
Why, when using CS5 to manage colours, two prints, two minutes apart can change from B&W to magenta?
It suggests to me that the CS5 software is not handling the Epson driver correctly (or vice versa) and double profiling is occuring. In any event users of these products should rightly expect one of you to pick up the ball and run with it and not just blame each other.
So my third question is - will Adobe run with the ball?
