Mountain lion safari, mountain lion safari

Have problems to run videos in Youtube in Safari, and Chrome since i made upgrade to Mountain Lion.  A black screen apears and a white circle turning. I tried to erase cookies and history. Then works fine one or two times, ang again same problem.  I tried to inable and disable HTML5 support en Youtube, again it works 1 or 2 times, and then the same.
Also problema with Facebook, the rest of WEBS working five.  Any ideas.

More on this.  I have this problem in Safari, Chrome and Firefox.  After i erased all the cookies an cache files the first time runs ok, buts from there it does not. I found that if i am logged in to Youtube i have the problem, if i log off i can watch the same videos, and if y loggin, i can´t watche them.
It´s not an account problem, because i have twodiferent acccounts and i have the same problem. And in windows i don´t have any problem.
I also unistalled flash, and installed again, and fix rights to the hard disk and have the same thing.  Any more sugestions.

  • Stuck in a limbo: can't install Safari or Lion/Mountain Lion, can't access App Store

If someone would take up this challenge and attempt to solve it with me, I would appreciate it! I have troubleshooted for 2 days now to no avail.
    This is what happened:
    1) I accidentally installed Safari 6.0, even if I have Lion 10.7. which doesn't run the new version
    2) This disabled my use of Safari and my access to App Store
    3) With a combination of AppDelete + Pacifist I tried deleting all Safari files, and re-installing old Safari 5.4 from scratch.
I rebooted, repaired permissions and did a disk check.
    4) Rebooted again, tried to open the newly installed Safari, but it gives an error:
"Check with the developer to make sure Safari works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X."
    5) At this point I thought to revert back to a previous point in Time Machine. Unfortunately all the points in Time Machine somehow showed Safari 6.0 (even a month-old points), so reverting back to an old point didn't help.
    6) I try logging into AppStore to upgrade to Mountain Lion, but I can't do that, since it needs Safari to run and I don't have a Safari anymore!
    7) Now I tried re-installing Lion from restart + cmd+R, and it asked for Apple ID to start the installation.
--> At this point I am getting desperate, as this computer was purchased second-hand, so I don't have the Apple ID used to install Lion!
    8) I try searching for Apple's official support, but obviously my warranty has expired, besides it's based in another country so they can only call cellphones from that country!
So I cannot enter App Store; reinstall Safari; reinstall Lion; or upgrade to Mountain Lion. I have no access to Apple official support. I currently work in a developing country with limited access to any MAC support.
I don't know what to try anymore!
    - How can I enter App Store without Safari?
    - How can I reinstall Lion without the original Apple ID?
    - How can I upgrade to Mountain Lion without App Store?
    I'm STUCK! Please help!!

    Anyone?
I finally managed to download the newest combo update and installed it successfully!
However Safari still doesn't open. It keeps saying the following:
Check with the developer to make sure Safari works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.
I also finally got access to App Store: but the download of Mountain Lion doesn't complete, because it seems to need Safari.
So I'm still stuck with the two issues:
    i) Safari doesn't work, and I can't get it to work unless I can reinstall/upgrade the OS.
ii) I can't upgrade the OS without Safari!
--- unless someone knows a way to install Lion/Mountain Lion _without_ Safari??
    Thanks for all your help!

Ive just upgraded to Mountain lion, I was using Safari and tried to use iCloud tabs. When I open it up there are no tabs there, anyone have any ideas on how to get it working?

Can you check system update? I think I did a system Update 1st, a day before installing OSX Lion and there is a Safari update. If not try logging in iCloud.

  • Why is there no Passwords tab in my Safari Mountain Lion Preferences?

I need to remove a stored password from my laptop, but there is no Passwords tab in my Safari Mountain Lion Preferences window. How can I get past this roadblock?

Do you have some other software installed, like a password manager, that is removing the Passwords tab?
Take a look in Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access. Your password may be stored in there. Look in the Login Keychain, Category: Passwords. You can just select the password and delete it.
You could reinstall Safari perhaps to restore the Passwords tab. I don't think you can just download Safari by itself, though. You'd have to reinstall Mountain Lion. Alternatively there's an app called Pacifist that will let you extract the Safari installer package from the ML installer. CharlesSoft — software you always wished someone would write

  • Safari crashing constantly on Lion and Mountain Lion

Ever since upgrading to Lion, and then, Mountan Lion, on an old MBP, and on a new one, Safari has been crashing all the time.  Many crash reports have been submitted.  Any ideas on why this is happening?  It seemed fine on Snow Leopard.  Practically everything running on each system is 64 bits.  Nothing changed when upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion; Safari is still unstable.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

I believe I did that. I held the option key while I hit the Go menu to expose library and attempted to follow you links as shown:
    Open ~/Library/Application\ Support/SIMBL/Plugins/
Is that not the library you are referring to?

  • Safari, Mountain Lion and emailing pages

I suppose I'll get used to the tabs in Safari on Mountain Lion, but one thing that seems a huge step back is the ability to email ANY web page from Safari. Oh, yes, I know you can email pages, and I know where the command is, and I know when you're sending it it looks fine in the email window, but have you seen what happens when it arrives with the recipient?
On some web pages, the text is extracted from the page and presented, but images and layout are lost, and a link to the page is included instead. On some other web pages, the recipient just gets a jumble of text extracted from the web page (everything, like navigation lists and other links, like something from the 1980s) and they have to scroll WAY down to find the relevant text, say of the story you were trying to send. This never happened in Safari with Lion, or any previous OS, as far as I know (maybe OS8.6?) but it happens in Safari 6 on Mountain Lion. This feels all wrong, like this function on Safari has gone eleven steps back.
Did nobody test this feature before ML was launched? I mean, like REALLY test it, see what happened when the recipient received the emailed web page? Obviously not.
You know what Steve would say.

This thread seems to be dealing in the area where I am having a problem. I can easily from Safari email the link to a page but if I choose in the mail side to have it as pdf it simply goes into mail and just sits there and keeps displaying the message loading in the mail message it opens.
If I do it from safari by going to the print menu and selecting from the PDF area of the print dialogue mail pdf it will open a mail message with the pdf showing as an attachment. Similar happens if I choose to send it as a web page. Does not seem to matter on either if I have it set to rich text or text in the mail same behaviour.
Any idea with what might be going on. thanks
Am using lated Mountain Lion 10.8.2

  • Why is searching so much slower in both Lion and Mountain Lion than Snow Leopard?

Hi, I use Snow Leopard run on several Mac Pros to perform multidimensional time-lapse-imaging in our lab. Snow Leopard provides instantaneous (seconds) searching for folders containing the image sequences I require for analysis (distributed across 4 x 2TB hard drives- images are saved under the structure Time\Position, and for analysis I need to retrieve all folders with the same Position label). Lion and Mountain Lion either fail to search or are painfully slow. For analysis I use internal hard drives connected as external volumes via USB and I suspect this might be part of the problem, however the same setup works flawlessly with Snow Leopard.
This problem is becoming very frustrating as I can’t figure out what has changed, or whether I am overlooking something obvious. I installed Lion on my MacBook Pro over 6 months ago which is when I discovered this problem and had to reinstall Snow Leopard. At that time I had hoped that the next OS might provide a better search function for our use, but after some testing it seems the same. To search through folders manually takes over 10 x as long as using a simple search in Snow Leopard. Can anyone provide me any advice as to what might be causing this problem and whether there might be a solution? I’ve tried a few free searching tools from the app store, but these do not perform any better than searching in Finder. I would obviously prefer to be able to invest in new Macs in the future which run the most current OS without having to install Snow Leopard on them all (if this is even possible without future models without causing compatibility problems).
Many thanks for reading and for any advice you can give me.
    Oli

  • Problems upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion

First of all, I greet you all. First time poster from Mexico.
I´m having problems with certain applications since I updated from Lion to Mountain Lion. The transition has been filled with issues, specially with aspects related to the incorporation of Twitter and Facebook to the OS. This will be a long post, and I apollogize in advance for my english, it´s not my native language.
I have a MacBook Pro 15" mid 2010, It came with Snow Leopard if my memory serves. It was fast and very reliable. Since I upgraded to Lion, I felt the OS was slower, it took time to power on and shut off. But overall, it was still stable, never doing anything unexpected, nor apps crashing or freezing.
Yesterday I decided to upgrade to Mountain Lion. The installation was uneventful, everything seemed ok, if slow. Then, I opened Mail. It gor stuck in a dialog box saying the email library was being updated. It lingered for more than three hours. I let it overnight. Next day the screen was in standby so I moved the cursos, it went back for a second, then went black again. I tried several times to wake her, same thing. I shut it off with the power button.
Upon opening Mail again, it went straight to the dialog box with the progress line stuck in the same place where it had been the night before, and it lingered for as long as I let it. I searched in this forum, and I came across a post that had a workaround (didn´t save the link. Sorry), which was entering Library>Mail>V2>MailData, and erase the first three files that started with the word envelope. This enabled Mail to finally update the email library and open the app itself, but after a couple of seconds of indexing the emails I previously had in Lion, it crashed again. This is where I´m currently at. If I open the app, it shows for a couple of seconds, sorts some emails, and crashes.
Another problem I have, is in System Preferences. If I try to open the Email, Calendar and Contacts tab, it shows the login stage for social services, but crashes righ away. Everything else in System Preferences will work, but that tab crashes righ away.
The Messages tab opens, but if I enter my AppleID, it crashes.
So, in short, a lot of what makes Mountain Lion different to Lion, crashes for me. I´ve run the disk utility to fix premissions several times. I´ve run the Maintenance, OnyX and Deeper apps and everything stays the same.
I installed a couple of supplementary upgrades to Mountain Lion from the Apple support web site, but it hasn´t corrected anything. I have searched for the answer on several forums, but haven´t had any luck. I tried to reinstall, same issues reappear. I´m reluctant to just backup everything and nuke the system, since: 1)I don´t have enough space on my external HD to backup everything I want and 2)I´m not that skilled on computers so I know I´ll eventually miss something, like my favorites from Safari or something like that.
I can access the crash reports if it´s useful to any of you. I thank in advance everyone who might try to assist me with this.

    HI,
The issues would seem to be centralised on the System Preferences > Mail, Contacts and Calendars items.
When this item is functioning then you can turn On and Off the "Accounts" for the Mail App and the Messages app in this pane.
    Example pic
This Mail, Contacts and Calendars Preferences Pane will be calling on saved data in a file ending in .plist
.plist files are held in ~/Library/Preferences
In Lion and Mountain Lion you have to access this in the Finder > Go Menu > Go to Folder and typing the path in to the dialogue box.
Find and drag to the Trash (to delete) com.apple.CalendarAgent.plist and com.apple.AddressBook.plist
These two items seem to be updated when you change a setting in the Mail, Contacts an Calendars pane.
Another thing to check in the Contacts app > My Card
This used to be called the Address Book.
There can be issues with some apps if the My Card (Head and Shoulders icon) is not  your own Card.

  • The difference between Lion and Mountain Lion

Can some one explain to me the difference between Lion and Mtn Lion? I'm currently 10.6.8 Is it beneficiall for me to upgrade?

Mountain Lion is an enhanced version of previous OS X and so that is Mavericks.
About upgrading it all depends on what your needs are and if your hardware supports it.
System requirements for OS X Lion
System requirements for OS X Mountain Lion

  • Hi i upgrade from lion to mountain lion to day on my mini mac,Since the upgrade i am getting no sound through my HDMI cable which was working fine on lion Checked the midi audio settings and system preferences to out on HDMi nothing no sound whats so ever

Hi i upgraded from lion to mountain lion to day on my mini mac,Since the upgrade i am no longer getting sound through my HDMI cable which was working fine on lion Checked the midi audio settings and system preferences to out on HDMi nothing no sound whats so ever.Any one any ideas?
I use a samsung TV for my monitor via HDMI.Tried all the system Audi setting nothing .Head phone and internal speakers are fine.

Similar issue; Audio was working fine on Lion, now not on Mountain Lion. Have a Macbook Pro early 2011 with AMD Radeon HD 6750M, connected by thunderbolt through a Lacie LBD to a mini-displayport to HDMI adapter (n.b. same problem when not going through the LBD) to a Pioneer VSX 521 AV receiver. For me when I go into audio Midi settings all the volume sliders for the displayport device are greyed out and at zero. But when I click 'configure speakers', it's able to send out the test signals to each speaker. Part of the problem could be that I'm not getting the option to put out 6channel sound, only 2 or 8 channel. Since my system is Dolby 5.1, and I only have 6 speakers, I would have expected the 6ch option to be available. But I imagine there's more to it than that. Elsewhere someone has suggested playing with Remote Interactive over HD on an Onkyo device; I'll see if there's something similar on the Pioneer that can be changed. Any other suggestions welcome.

  • I need to have both Snow leopard and Lion...Mountain lion running on my iMac.  How do I install Lion or Mountain lion on an Ext H D and boot from it?

My software is obsolete (and now dead) in 10.7 so I need to keep Snow leopard alive to run that- but now things like TurboTax are dropping support for 10.6 or lower and I have to have lion or Mountain Lion available.  I actually downloaded Lion onto a thumb drive but never installed it when I found out that it would immedaitely render all my FreeHand files inaccessible (years of work!),  Now that I am forced to have an OS above 10.6 I was hoping I could install whichever--Lion or Mountain Lion onto an external hard drive and figure  out how to boot from that (found  something in archives I think, but I need words of one syllable or less).  This way I could, ideally, boot from either the External hard drive in the higher OS when needed, or from the internal hard drive when I need to use Snow leopard.  There is a long story here, but I think this is the gist.  I wasn not sure if this should be asked here or in either Lion or Mountain Lion (both of which I have, essentially, ignored since I would not be moving up until I could figure out how to access those old files of forms and drawings00but now I have no choice.  I am panicking now that I HAVE to make the move anbd cannot afford to buy another  Mac just to keep two separately running.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  i asked Apple when Lion came out and they said there was no way to partition (even if I KNEW how to do that) the haaard drive and install both on my iMac-- but I "think" this is a bit different and possible???   Thanks  (once/if I figure this out, I need to figure out how to back-up but that is another matter)

You need to move to Windows 7, because Apple is now releasing a new OS X version annually and it's playing havoc with people's hardware and software.
Windows 7 will get support until 2020, that's 8 years of software stability, however you do need to make System Restore disks, boot disk and another on a hard drive to self restore (like TimeMachine is for OS X)
Apple has no plans to change their currrent behavior as all they care about is selling new hardware with a shiny new OS X verison on it.
If you wait to move, what will happen is you'll lose that full 8 years and will have to swtich to a newer Windows sooner
Windows 7 machines are still widely avaialble, despite Windows 8 (a failure) being pushed currently.
Running three OS X operating systems on one machine is quite a chore reserved for only seasoned computer geeks, then it's only going to last X months as the next OS X version will be released, then the next a year after that.
Another method would be to get a virtual machine software (virtualbox is free) and install Windows 7 into that to ease your transitition if you cant' spring for a Windows 7 machine, preferablly a tower that will last a long time.
Here is a method to run Snow Leopard in Parallels, however it's a unapproced hack and not for the comptuer newbie.

We have no control over Apple's OS X release cycle, nor the third party developers who make their own decisions what to support.
Our only choice as users to stop using both products and seek software/hardware stability.

  • I have a hdd from late 2009 that I upgraded from leopard to snow leopard to lion to mountain lion.  I want to upgrade the hdd to ssd.  Do I need to buy a new copy of mountain lion to install on the ssd?  If not, then what is the procedure to transfer?

I have a hdd from a late 2009 mbp.  I upgraded from leopard to snow leopard to lion to mountain lion.  Now I want to upgrade to a ssd.  Do I need to purchase a new copy of mountain lion to go on my new ssd? If I don't, then what is the procedure to transfer mountain lion with my 4 user accounts onto the new ssd from the hdd?
I'm confused on if I can use the recovery hd on a thumb drive to install mountain lion on my ssd.  Will it be pheasible with so many OS X upgrades?  And then how do I get my user accounts onto the ssd from the hdd.  Do I use migration assistant?  Do I need to make a time machine backup first?  Should I use something called Carbon Clone or something like that?
    Thanks for reading

If you have a cable that connects and external HDD to the MBP, it will do.  If it is something like this, an  enclosure will not be needed for the swap:
An enclosure allows you to use your old HDD for storage or backup purposes.  The cable will not.
Here are instructions as to how the swap can be performed using DISK UTITY.  Substitute You cable for the enclosure in same:
INSTALLING A NEW HDD IN A MBP
    1. Make certain that you have backed up all of your important data.
    2. You will need a HDD enclosure.  One with a USB connection will do.  A 9 pin Firewire is better.
    3. Install your new drive in the enclosure and connect it to your MBP.
    4. Open DISK UTILITY>ERASE.  From the left hand column drag the new drive into the 'Name' field.  Make sure that the format is 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)'.  Click on the 'Erase' button.
    5. Click on the 'Restore' button (on top).  Drag the old drive into the 'Source' field and the new drive into the 'Destination'  field.  Click on the 'Restore' button on the bottom right hand corner.
Depending upon the amount of data you are transferring, this may take a couple hours or more.  A Firewire will speed up the transfer.  This will result in both drives having identical information on them.
    6. After the data transfer has completed, you may swap the drives.  Start the MBP and you have finished the installation.  The initial boot may take a bit longer than you are accustomed to, but that is normal.
    7. When you are satisfied that the new hard drive if functioning properly, you can erase the old drive and use it for any needs that you may have.
If there is any confusion on your part, post back.
    Ciao.

  • Can't upgrade to from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion though I have paid for both.

    Hi again!
I lost all sound when upgrading to Mountain Lion from Lion and was told by Apple that the cause was likely to be a bad install of ML. I am using a Prism Sound Orpheus Sound Card which worked fine with Lion.
Since then I have put in a new internal System drive and installed  the latest version of Snow Leopard firstly with the DVD'S and the using software update.
When going to the apps store I cannot download ML or Lion as I believe (maybe)? that the Apps store thinks that I already have it as it was downloaded into the corrupted system of my old system drive? .  I note that all the apps that I have are not listed on the new drive i.e.Pages etc How do I get around this and download Lion and Mountain Lion so that I can rebuild and test my system?

You will need to remove the drive that has Lion/Mountain Lion installed, then boot from the Snow Leopard drive in order to redownload Lion or Mountain Lion. App Store detects any extant Lion/Mountain Lion system thus blocking you from re-downloading.
This time save the download so you won't have to do it again by copying it to your Downloads folder. You can then make your own installer:
    Make Your Own Mountain/Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Mountain/Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Mountain/Lion application. After Mountain/Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Mountain/Lion installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing.
    2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash drive size.
    3. Locate the saved Mountain/Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
    4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the content of the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
Double-click on the InstallESD.dmg file to mount it on your Desktop.
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Drag the mounted disc icon from the Desktop into the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable installer that you can use without having to re-download Mountain/Lion.
Note: The term Mountain/Lion used above means Lion or Mountain Lion.
As an alternative to the above you can try using Lion DiskMaker 2.0 that automates the process.
