Mountain Lion Software

I got a new mac air and downloaded the new mountain lion software, but it's not updating on my computer.  Does the software take a couple of hours to register?

There's no wait time. What OS were you running before you tried to upgrade to Mountain Lion?

  • HT3669 I only have a HP printer and why I need to install a file for all the HP printers drivers 590MB??? if normally the size of my file should be 5MB.  some one could me help to avoid installation of 590MB for my new mountain lion software???

    Hi guys..!!
I would like to know if someone could help on this:
I just have a HP printer (HP Designjet 100) and for some reason I need to install a file for all the HP printers drivers in total 590MB to be able to use my printer in my mountain lion???
If normally the size of my files in the for previous software was more or less 5MB why now i need to install 590?
Some one could help me how to avoid installation of 590MB for my new mountain lion software???
    Thanks

If you go to http://support.apple.com/downloads and locate the HP Printer Drivers installer, you will find that it is 473.4 MB (for version 2.11). If you install this, it will install the full set of drivers for every model of HP printer that is supported by the drivers distributed through Apple. The disk space occupied once installed will probably be larger than the download, since the downloaded file is compressed.
On the other hand, if you have an HP printer connected and you use Software Update (or the Update tab in App Store), that should offer you a much smaller set of HP drivers, which are only applicable to your printer (and possibly a few similar ones). These updates are typically only tens of megabytes rather than hundreds of megabytes.
If Software Update doesn't offer you any HP drivers then it either thinks you have the latest drivers installed already, or the printer model is not supported by the drivers available from Apple.
This article lists all of the printer models for which Apple distributes the driver:

  • Have OS X 10.6.3 and am unable to install App Store to install Lion or Mountain Lion Software to update to Maverick....HELP!!!!

I recently purchased the Lion and Mountain Lion software to upgrade my MacBook Pro enough to be able to install Maverick (I realized now I only need Lion but oh well).  I'm currently running on OS X 10.6.3.  I have codes to install Lion using the App Store, however  don't have the App Store installed.  I cannot install it, as it says I must be running a version of OS X 10.6.6 or higher in order to install the App Store......Am I just completely screwed here???  Does anyone know another way to install this software without the App Store?!  Thank you!!!!

    1. You don’t need Lion either.
    2. Run the Software Update pane of System Preferences or install the 10.6.8 combo updater manually.

  • HT1338 help with installing Mountain Lion software...!

i am trying to update my mac book pro with the mountain lion software. i have purchased this in my mac app store but do not see where to go from here to install... anyone know what to do? do i not have enough space to install the update? how do i tell?

What year is your MacBook Pro? Need to make sure you have the hardware spec for Mt. Lion. You should also consider 8GB of memory for reasonable performance.
Find how much storage: Apple Menu > About this Mac > More Info... > Storage
If you are within 80% of filling your current drive, you may have enough to install Mt. Lion, but the subsequent installation will not perform well due to storage saturation.
Before you update to Mountain Lion, you should do one last software update on Lion, then run Disk Utility and verify/repair permissions. Then back-up your home directory for safety, even though a Mt. Lion upgrade will not disturb your home directory.
If Mountain Lion actually did download, the installer is placed in your /Application folder as, Install OS X Mountain Lion. If you want a bootable USB Mountain Lion installer, now is the time to make it with Lion Diskmaker and a empty 8GB USB stick. After you run the Mountain Lion installer, it will de-install itself. Like Lion, you still have a bootable Recovery partition.

Buy it for the other computer. Mountain Lion is preinstalled on the new Mac, but you can only use it in the new one

I just installed the new mountain lion software on my iMac.  I was currently running Snow Leopard.  My problem is with my mouse.  Now when I scroll down the page it moves in the opposite direction. In system preferences I tried checking and unchecking Natural for scroll feature. Movement from side to side works fine.  Has anyone experienced this problem?

I think this new scrolling behaviour was introduced with Lion. You do get used to it pretty quickly (well I did). Are you sure that deselecting Natural Scrolling in Mouse Prefs doesn't re-instate the previous behaviour, it does here.

  • Is there any Mountain Lion software that can do what Appleworks could

Is there any Mountain Lion software that can do what Appleworks could like drawing, painting, etc.?  I find that Pages is very limited compared to earlier software or am I missing something?  If Pages doesn't have this capability, what software can I get that does????

    Hi,
Windows has a function called Narrator. Narrator reads what is displayed on the screen, including the contents of the active window, menu options, or text that has been typed. Narrator is designed to work with Notepad, WordPad, Control Panel programs, Internet Explorer,
the Windows desktop, and some parts of Windows Setup, and may not read words aloud correctly in other programs.
For more information, please refer the following link:
    Turn on and use Narrator

In addition, based on my research, a kind of third party program named JAWS. You could know well it first, and then decide whether you want to buy it.

  • Mountain Lion software update problem

I have purchased Mac book pro in July 2012. I wanted to download the Mountain Lion software update. I have redeemed the same from the Mac store. The downloading icon has appeared but it does not seem to be progressing...what could be the problem??

In the past,  I have taken certain larger upgrades from apple at non-peak hours (magically everything was installed quickly) other times I have taken large upgrades from apple at peak hours ( I took forever and I questioned what is going on) this could be the issue.  "server load" or your ISP (internet service provider)
    * peak hours (when a lot of people are off work down loading the newest os or applications)

  • Can I up grade my existing software on my I mac 9,1 to snow leopard & then to mountain lion software ?

Can I up grade my existing software on my I mac 9,1 to snow leopard & then to mountain lion software ?

Yes, you can do that according to specs yours is early 2009.
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
Note that 2 GB RAM is suggested as a minimum but 4 GB is more realistic for good performance.
EDIT: Also, check for compatibility with any third party apps.

  • Mountain lion software free

So I just got a new Imac. While I was at the apple store the manager told me I could buy the mountain lion software or I could jump through a few hoops to get it for free. Well he told me to come here and said you guys would be able to help.

let me get this straight..a manager at an Apple store referred you here for help?  Sounds strange.  Also, a new iMac should already have Mountain Lion preinstalled, as it was released this past July.
