Mountain Lion Strike's Again!!

I have 2 games Star Defender 3 & 4 by Awem, both work perfectly with Lion, now I have updated again to Mountain Lion 10.8.2, again they both work but I have no sound, except when I use mirroring through apple tv, been on to applecare support, they are stuck for word's, having done several test on the laptop for sound, reinstalled both games, seems Mountain Lion strikes again, any idea's ?

Why foolish, the game worked perfect with Lion, think it's called progress.
Apple spend million's to give us a good product, thank's Steve Job's, miss you, so why not progress, why did you buy a Apple product, because it's the best, there are lot's of good feature's on Mountain Lion.
OK, it's new, new thing's sometime's have teething problem's, since it's launch I must have installed Mountain Lion, 4 time's, it's getting better, this time it's very smooth.
There are lot's of customer's in the review's for the Mountain Lion App in the App Store that have had trouble with the new system, I expect they will fix the problem's eventually, either that or I will have to learn Brail to play the game.
Take care.

  • I have OS 10.6, do I have to update to 10.7 before I download 10.8 "Mountain Lion", and pay again?

I'm still running OS 10.6, and have decided to upgrade to 10.7 Lion.
However, the Apple website has just informed me that 10.8 Mountain Lion is coming
    this summer.
Do I have to buy Lion, and then again by Mountain Lion?  Should I just wait until
Mountain Lion launches so I don't have to pay twice?
    Thanks

Until Apple makes the technical specifications for Mountain Lion public, no one can answer this question.

  • IDVD and Mountain Lion...again

Sorry to bring this up again, but I have been unable to find a solution elsewhere in the forum.
Just bought a new 15" MacBook Pro for my wife (Mountain Lion already installed), and also upgraded the OS in my 17" MacBook Pro to Mountain Lion.  Of course, iDVD has disappeared.  Are there workable alternatives to iDVD?  Is iDVD that is compatible with Mountain Lion available somewhere?  I (like so many others) have a need to be able to burn DVDs and am at a loss as to what to do next.
    Advice, please!

OK, I understand your dilemma. For what it's worth, iDVD version 7 still works with Mountain Lion.
You have to buy it from an aftermarket vendor, but the price is still fairly reasonable. Here is one source:
    http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MC623Z-A-iLife-VERSION/dp/B003XKRZES/
iLife 09 (and I have heard, though not personally confirmed, iLife 08) contains the same version of iDVD. They may be slightly less expensive.
When you get the disc, install only the iDVD app, then upgrade it here:
    iDVD 7.1.2
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1414
I also seem to recall hearing that Mountain Lion may object to iDVD having "expired" and will refuse to install it. I cannot find that post at the moment, but I recall the solution was to set your Mac's clock back a year or so and try again.

  • I installed Snow Leopard on my white Macbook 4,1 and purchased the Mountain Lion to upgrade again. Now it says not compatible and won't load. Required specs on my laptop seemed fine but? Any ideas what to try?

I ordered Snow Leopard and received the disk from Apple. It loaded fine in my white Macbook 4 ,1 that has 4GB memory, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.1 GHZ processor and L2Cache 3mb. Decided to upgrade once more to Mountain Lion (skipped Lion) and purchased the download directly from Apple. This morning I downloaded and when it went to install a screen appeared stating my laptop wasn't compatible. From what I had researched before purchasing Mountain Lion it seemed this laptop was fine. Do I need to purchase LION before trying to install Mountain Lion? Otherwise what could be wrong? Any help appreciated. Thanks!

    1. If desired, go to the online Apple Store and ask for a refund.
    2. Click here and see the lists of new and dropped features.

  • How do I get mountain lion to start again

I started my upload yesterday at 4 pm. I set my preferences so it won't go to sleep. But it seems to have frozen. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to Apple Communities
What's it? If you want to download that, open App Store > Purchases, pause and resume OS X. If it doesn't help, go to Launchpad, press Option key, delete OS X and download it again

The build of Mountain Lion (10.8.4) on your 2013 MBA is newer than what is currently available from the App Store. That accounts for the App Store blocking you. This will likely be resolved with the introduction of 10.8.5.
True, but even so, there is no need to re-purchase and download from the App Store (not to say you're implying this, but rather just for informational purposes). When OS X 10.8.5 is released, the Software Update service will be the way to install the update, and not the retail Mac App Store.
Hopefully, if mawy did re-purchase Mountain Lion, when Mavericks comes out then Apple will offer it to mawy for free (it's slated to be out soon).

  • QuickTime stops immediately after opening on MacBook pro Mountain Lion

All updates have been done, I did not install anything nieuw. Can anybody help?

Nvidia's official site. I don't know if I am allowed to send links on this site so I am not going to do that.
Anyway, I tried to contacted the apple on 16'th and just got a response a few minutes ago.Unfortunately then I had to reinstall my mountain lion all over again by recovery. Well, I lost many stuff but 'Hey! Mountain Lion got much faster for some reason so, I'm not complaining.
    Thank you for your reply.

  • Mountain Lion Not Showing in Purchases (Need to Unhide)

I just stumbled across this and thought it might help other folks with multiple Mac's wanting to download Mountain Lion onto all.
If you successfully downloaded M.L. onto one of your Mac's, but are no longer seeing it available in "Purchases" you may need to do the following.
    1.  Launch App Store.
    2.  Click on "Store" then "View my Account (Your Apple ID).
    3.  Sign in to your account.
    4. Click on "Unhide Hidden Purchases" (this might be "Updates"...I can't remember).
Mountain Lion will once again show up in the "Purchases" list on any Mac where the Apple ID used to purchase M.L. has been entered into the "Store" account in the App Store.
I tried the "Option/Purchases" suggestion I found elsewhere to no avail and then gave this a shot and it worked.  Hope this spares others some stress.

I'd like to hear Apple's answer to this.
If it's because there is some limitation with my computer let me know!
If it's because you don't want to distribute more copies of the OS; man up to your contractual obligation!  As a shareholder in Apple I'll take reputation over short term $$.

  • Can't install Mountain Lion, Macintosh HD is locked

    Hello All:
I'm having trouble installing ML.  The installer told me that my Macintosh HD had errors that could not be fixed.  I ran disk utility to verify/repair the HD.  It took a couple of tries / restarts.  I think I also reset the PRAM.  Now, I get to the point where I choose the disk for installation and it says that it's locked.  When I fire up the terminal and do a 'mount' I see that it's mounted up 'read-only' and I can't refresh the mount because it's the disk being used to boot.  How can I unlock the disk for the ML installer to continue?
    Late 2008 Macbook Unibody.
    Thanks
    - Skylar

I had the disk lock error too and was stuck in Recovery Mode limbo with no way out except formatting my harddrive
For those of you who do not own any external harddrives or 8GB+ USB drives etc, this solution may be for you. Also, my machine is a macbook pro that had Lion (installed via App Store) and now has Mountain Lion (installed via App Store).
I do have a 4GB USB stick, so I used the terminal to copy some important files from my harddrive to my USB.
The command for that is  cp. Use cp -r for copying whole directories over.
    $> cp -r /Volumes/Image\<push TAB key so it completes the name>/<file/directory> /Volumes/<USBDRIVE Name>/
Once I got the files I needed, I was ready to erase my harddrive *tear*
    ==============================================================================
So I rebooted my Macbook, held cmd+R (before the grey screen came on, until the apple logo appears).
Then I was in Lion's Recovery Move (instead of Mountain Lion's Recovery mode
I used Disk Utility to try to erase my Mcintosh HD, but it complained that it can't do it. So I used the "Repair Option on it" then I fell asleep. You MUST let it finish! It may not seem like it will finish, but it will eventually say it cannot repair it.
When I came to (lol), It sais it could not repair my drive, but I tried the Erase option again, and it worked! (I used the "Fastest" setting, and my HD is Journaled, HFS+).
After it finished erasing, I rebooted, and instead of an Apple logo coming up at the boot screen, it showed a folder in it's place with a question mark. I freaked out at first but then I did this:
Use the power button to turn off your mac. Use it again to turn it on, and do the cmd+R trick, and this will put your computer in INTERNET RECOVERY MODE (I had never heard of this, but it saved my life). It takes about 30 minutes to do it's thing, then it will bring you to the Mountain Lion Recovery Mode again.
This time, when you click on Install OS X, it will bring up the Mountain Lion Install dialogue, and you should be able to select your HD with no problem. It will re-download the Mountain Lion install and takes about 6 hours. This is basically a clean install, instead of an upgrade.
Lesson of the day: BACKUP YOUR STUFF BEFORE YOU UPGRADE!
Let me know if this works for you, or doesn't work for you. I couldn't find any responses that helped me (as I did not have extra memory peripherals laying around), so I hope someone else finds it useful.

  • Mountain Lion start up stuck at grey/white screen

When I went to start up my computer this morning, it started with the chime, then the apple on the grey screen, then the white screen with the pointer was up, then it went back to the grey screen with the gear, then the white with pointer for ever.
I followed the suggested trouble shooting at the "grey screen appears during startup" and when I did the Safe Boot, I am able to log in as guest and under my secondary log in, but not my main log in. When I try to log in under my primary, the screen gets to the white with pointer then back to the log in screen.
I went on to reset the pram, then ran disk utility from my secondary log in along with AppleJack. Both made some premissions corrections but I still can not log in under my primary login.
I did check my power cables and pluged indirectly to the wall.
I took the memory out and reset it, and will try my apple memory when I pull it from my computer at work. This one has crucial RAM, which works fine with the other logins.
    Have I missed anything?
    Thanks

When I got back to the computer in the morning, it was back to the OO Utillities box in the Mountian Lion recovery. It said it would restart after install but I thought that meant it would be a regular start and not just within the recovery mode.
I will attempt to reinstall ML in the recovery mode again, just in case something happened in the middle I'd the night with my download.
After restart and selecting the HD it is still droning the same thing.
The laptop I was going to use to swap out memory with has been checked out, will have to wait until it comes back in. Until then, I still have my iPad...
Since I am sitting here in front of it, let me clarif:
    Start up
    whitish grey screen
Apple icon, then gear, for 3 to 5 minutes,
Gear stops spinning, icon and gear disappear,
    pointer appears upper left,
Screen changes color to white, pointer disappeared, then changed color to light blue
At this point the cycle begins: after light blue 2 seconds, back to grayish white 1 to 2 seconds, pointer reappears in the upper left 11 seconds, back to lite blue with no pointer
if I now what was happening inside when the screen is changing color, I might be able too narrow it down.
Thanks for you suggestions, the Mountain Lion download begins again...

  • Why do I have to buy Mountain Lion and  Mountain Lion server to upgrade my Lion server?

    Hi !
I can't find any option in app store to direct buy OSX Mountain Lion Server to upgrade my Mini i7 Lion Server ?!? Just necessary purchased the Mountain Lion and BUY AGAIN OSX Server Packet $19, billing Twice ?!?!

You are looking at a radical change, 10.8 Server is not an "Upgrade", it's an application. The previous Apache is still at its old location but is unused xcept for some .conf files. The arrangement and configuration of 10.8 Server.app is a big change from 10.7 so plan on some relearning. You will buy the application Server.app which on first run installs components at /Library/Server/*. Most everything is now inside the Server.app package in the Applications folder including all scripts for Wiki pages and several Apple specific Apache modules. Apple is also replacing the messy *.conf flat text files with plist files so that is an improvement. In addition, Python script support is now built-in as well as WSGI for those running Python webapps.
Having said that, some parts have sharp edges so don't expect full operation for a few versions.

  • TS3147 After installing Mountain Lion, I tried to scan from my Canon MX870 and received the message: "MP Navigator EX quit unexpectedly. Click Reopen to open the application again. A report will be sent to Apple,"

After installing Mountain Lion, I tried to scan from my Canon MX870 and received the message: "MP Navigator EX quit unexpectedly. Click Reopen to open the application again. A report will be sent to Apple,"  This problem happened right after I installed Mountain Lion. I then downloaded Canon's upgraded software and drivers for the MX 870 and the problem was resolved. Now one month later, the problem has returned.

Solved problem with original Canon software.  When I downloaded Canon software upgraded for OS X 10.8, I got all by Navigator Ex. Noticed that on Canon's site, the upgraded version is 3.1; my app was 2.1. Upgraded to 3.1 for Nav. Ex, and it works.
You should still use Image Capture IMHO.  If it was my gear, that's what I would do.  No need to worry about software upgrades.
