Mountain lion upgrade does not support Quickbooks 2010

When I upgraded to Mountain Lion OS, I didn't realize that some of my other programs (ie. Microsoft Office for Mac, Quickbooks 2010 for Mac) would not be supported by Apple upgrade.  Now I'm faced with having to do without these expensive programs which I need or buy them again.  *****!
Anyone have any suggestions?

It's not up Apple to offer updates, it's the responsibility of the application developers. And they apparently have come up with updates. That they want you to pay for them is entirely their decision. I might point out that Office 2004, which is what I presume you have since Office 2008 and 2011 both work fine in Mountain Lion, is eight years old, so being expected to pay for an update after all this time is not unreasonable.
It is always wise to confirm compatibility of any applications and peripherals on which you depend prior to making any major upgrades of hardware or software, to avoid just this sort of situation.
Regards.

  • OS X Mountain lion code does NOT work - Please help

I bought my 2012 Macbook pro June 21 2012. I qualify for the free OS X Mountain lion upgrade. I got my emails, one with the PDF file, one with the password to it. I open up the red PDF file, enter my password and it does NOT work. I took my password to the Mac App store, clicked Quick Link, Redeem, placed my code in and it STILL DOES NOT work. PLEASE HELP!!! I need the new OS, plus Im supposed to get it for free! Its not fair how they sent me a bad code / improper instructions on how to redeem it.

  • TS3276 Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, Mail does not let me send e-mails using Comcast mail server.  Why?

Why is this?  Comcast's SMTP outgoing mail server is set for my e-mai account but I keep getting an Apple error dialog saying the server can't be used.

I solved it by going to Comcast's website which had slightly different instructions for setting up an e-mail account than it did 4 years ago when I first set it up.  Comcast's SMTP server always worked notwithstanding many Mac OS and Mail upgrades over those 4 years.  Apparently, with my upgrade to Mountain Lion, something got sideways.
After following the Comcast instructions, the Comcast SMTP outgoing server now works just fine, as before.

  • Wifi printing after Mountain Lion upgrade, "printer not connected" error

I have Canon MP610 printer.  Was getting error message "Looking for printer" or "Printer not connected" after upgrading to Mountain Lion 10.8.  Printing works fine when I directly plug in USB cord to MacBook Pro to print. However, on the wifi network, no luck.  Today I have upgraded Canon's latest driver, reset the printer system, deleted printers from system icon in System Preferences, added new printer back in..... Nothing.
I have reset Time Capsule, where my printer USB is currently plugged into.
    Nothing.
Please advise what to try next...??

AirPort Utility 5.6 is available at AirPort Service and Support.
5.6 doesn't work with Mountain Lion, so am I stuck?
I already had AirPort Utility 5.6 on a Lion machine and upgraded to Mountain Lion with no issues. AirPort Utiliy 5.6 works fine as does AirPort Utility 6.1.
But, I did not try to download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 since it was already on the Mac.
Please try again and report on your results.

  • Mountain Lion: Mail does not display directory when attaching file

After upgrading to Mountain Lion, when composing a Mail message and attempting to attach a file, the directory window opens and nothing is displayed. Trying to attach via the paper clip button, not drag & drop. The gear spins continuously but nothing is ever displayed (at least not for the 10 minutes I waited). Doesn't seem to matter which directory is chosen, no files are displayed. Anyone seen this problem? Thanks.

  • With Mountain Lion MacPro does not wake from sleep

I have installed Mountain Lion (10.8.1) on a Mac Pro (Model appeared early 2008).
However when the system is sleeping, Mac does not awake from sleep by pressing any key of the keyboard.
    The keyboard is inactive.

That's interesting, I don't use the Apple->Sleep, but I tired it several times with 10.8.1 on my system and it woke up in a timely fashion.
There is something strange going on with it being intermittent for me, a combo of always & intermittent for you.
I suspect there is some combination of circumstances that's not obvious that's causing it.
I've looked through the logs and don't see any clues.
I submitted a bug report some time back.
You might consider submitting one as your situation is a little different and you have a circumstance that always causes the problem.

  • Can I revert back to the last firefox because the latest upgrade does not support RoboForm and all my login & passwords are now unavailble

I now have no access to hundreds of my user name and pass word data which was stored on Robo Form. In all previous versions of FireFox this add on was supported. Why did not FireFox warn us of the addons that would not be supported before upgrading. This is serious. How am I to log into all the programs that I use without the login data that was stored on my Fire Fox tool bar?

You can try this extension to override compatibility issues,

Once it is installed, open Addons Manager and re-enable RoboForm addon.

  • Lion Server does not support Windows 7 clients?

I have several clients who have Windows 7 workstations and Mac OS Lion servers. They cannot connect to their shares using any of the server accounts. I just installed Lion clean, bought Lion server and cannot connect to the shares from Windows 7 (Pro 64bit). I can connect from Windows XP Pro workstation. This is a major problem. I have read of some ways of changing the security settings in the bowels of Windows 7 to allow it connect (it is noted that these also say it will not work on Windows Home) but so far none of these methods have for me or my fellow techs. Not to mention that if to connect a Windows 7 client to a Mac we have to get in a muck with the registry every time - even if this were successful - it is a terrible way to support Windows.

This has been madness. So many alchemist fixes around Google for what seems to be a common problem: edit the registry, alter security settings, configure OpenDirectory, kiss a frog. What happened to the idea of sharing a folder on the LAN and getting back to work?
How do I confirm the string that serves as my Lion Server's FQDN?
On a (perhaps) related matter, I am confused because in my PC's "Network" list I see my Lion server as "MACMINI-0302EC" which seems like a generic machine name plus partial MAC address, but I've given the server a customized name in the server's System Preferences...

  • Mountain Lion Dictation does not dictate.

when i installed the OS X i got a problem, and that is the Dictation doesn't work. When i try to dictate, the siri like microphone shows up and when i speak to it, three dots are loading but then it wiggles ( the three dots go left then right) then the little siri microphone goes. Nothing happens.
So please can you help me with this so i can use the dictation.
    NOTE: i enabled it already.

There are some apps that mess around with the Sound preferences to the point where getting normal settings to work properly become flaky. One of those apps is 'Boom', the very kewl app for amplifying and EQing your Mac. I personally have watched this happen.
Solutions to try in recommended order:
    1) Reboot your Mac and see if the problem went away.
    2) Go into the potentially offending app's settings and turn it OFF. This is easy in Boom. Be sure to turn off EQ as well. See if the problem went away. Reboot again to see if that helps.
    3) UNINSTALL the potentially offending app. (Be sure you have the installer in case you want to reinstall it! If you bought it off the Mac App Store, you can get it there again). Reboot. See if the problem is gone.
    4) Reboot and login with the SHIFT KEY DOWN. This stops user account specific apps and services from running. See if the problem is gone. If it is gone at this point, something else that loads into your user account is the cause. Troubleshooting must commence...
The idea is to get your Mac back to source condition, the way Apple intended. If it doesn't work at that point, something else is to blame. Examples: Crap microphone, bad mic connection, environment noise, English dialect, messed up 10.8 installation, dying hard drive or RAM.
BTW: I got dictation working fine with Boom running. It just took some fiddling around and a reboot. I am, however, going to go buy a better noise canceling microphone.

  • How can I get Mountain Lion upgrade to download

I am trying to upgrade my Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8 to Mountain Lion and am not meeting with a lot of success.  The Mountain Lion upgrade will not load past 79.34MB of the 4.37GB dowload.  At this point the word 'Calculating' appear and the download  never gets any further.  My Broadband is not very quick as we are out in the sticks but I have not had this problem previously.  Any ideas?  Would it be possible to download to a stick on another computer and then install
    on my Mac?

Thanks adamlong277 !!   I had the same problem.  Took your advice and downloaded 'hopstop shield'.   It immediately resumed and got past the 79.34MB point.  It looks like a nice feature to have in case anything like that happens again, especially as it's so easy to connect/disconnect 'hotstop shield' at anytime.   Appreciate your help
